There was a time back in the 80's when I worked on one of the most fun and innovative projects of the time. This was a speech synthesizer called SmoothTalker and was one of the first decent quality speech synthesizers on the market. We designed this product initially for the Macintosh but then ported it to IBM PC's as well as various OEM systems. A number of patents were obtained for this technology including three that I had helped developed.

SmoothTalker was purchased by Apple Computer in the late 80's and forms the foundation to the speech synthesizer technology they used today.
