Results of the "Name That Book!" Contest

Lynn, desperate, asked readers to help find a title for the third book of her Big Cat Trilogy, to follow The Golden Leopard and Heart of the Tiger. In the rules, she specified that entries should contain the word "Lioness." But I'll let her tell you what happened . . .

Some wonderful title suggestions were submitted. Thanks to every one of you who entered. I chose lots of ideas to send to my publisher, added a few of my own, and waited for the decision.

Those of you familiar with the publishing industry already know that decisions about covers and titles are made by the publisher, although author input is usually encouraged (as it was in this case).

Well! The first thing they did was say they didn't want anything with the word "Lioness." And I admit, the rhythm of the word did not work well in many of the titles, mostly the ones I came up with. So, I changed "Lioness" to "Lion" in the titles and tried to figure ways to have a "Lion" title make sense in terms of the book.

Finally, the publisher has made a ruling. Book Three will be: The Silver Lion

The bad news is that no one who entered this contest came up with The Silver Lion or The Silver Lioness. That means I won't be dedicating the book to a contest entrant . . . not this time.

But of course, there's still a prize to be awarded! The names of all entrants were put into a hat, and with the magic of scotch tape and bribery, Lymond did the drawing.

The Winner is Gina Marie Cadorette! Congratulations, Gina, and thanks for entering.

A New Contest will be announced shortly, so drop by soon for details. It will be easier than coming up with a book title, I promise!
