RIP PRIDE!

Too bad you didn't get the axe before you gave the axe to your acting skills.

Oh the laughing! It was like a bad high school production of Romeo and Juliet. "Tell Salene I love her." *thump*

I'm going to have to watch again tonight to form more of an impression on the rest of the show. Except for the fact that I'm now thoroughly annoyed with Gel. Really, I know that there's already a plethora of competent female characters, but wouldn't it have been a lot more interesting to see a super girly-girl who could also take care of herself?

I can't take it anymore!!!!!!

Gel has GOT to go!!! I have never been so annoyed in all my life! I can't decide if it's the character, or the bad acting...Little of both I'm sure.

And I'm so glad Pride is finally gone! What a waste of space he was! Now if we could just get rid of May.

It was so good to see alot of the Mallrats back together again. I have missed Jack so much! And Salene looks great! Better than ever! Maybe I should try and get myself taken for ransom...

I love Slade. Not in a "he's so hot" kind of way, but I love the character. He's my favorite right now, I think.

Although, I do have to admit that I'm liking Mega more and more. He's starting to grow on me. And so is Ram...

I really like Mega, too. He's adorable. He makes me laugh too. Something about his personality makes him funny when he's not supposed to be. And now that Ram is stuck with Slade, I like him too! Never thought I'd hear myself say that!

After Siva left the Technos, she filled this role. Too bad her acting was atrocious, but I didn't mind the character. Dee went very girly in her orange outfit and was covered in butterfly stickers and I loved her. One could argue that Salene was very feminine too and I liked her also.

Gel is just annoying.

Yeah, Siva got a little carried away with the "dumb girl" act, but she didn't make me want to gauge out my own eyes! And I always liked Dee. Even after she went crazy with the butterfly stickers, she still kicked butt! Gel is just a complete airhead with nothing to offer except more damage to the Ozone.

Question on the end of Series 4. Did anyone else notice how odd Tai San was acting when she spoke with Lex? She exchanges glances with Mega and says something like, "Oh, you'll see!" duh, duh, dun! I get the feeling she was supposed to be in on Mega's plans in Series 5, but maybe the actress decided not to come back for whatever reason. Makes me wonder how Series 5 would have been different. Maybe originally Java wasn't supposed to be involved.

On another note, I just had to share this with someone, and no one else understands. I just got the Tribe Series 1 from Amazon.co.uk, and miracle of miracles, it plays on my laptop! Yay! I finally get to see how it all began. I'm curious to see who acts better or worse in the beginning than they do now.

Exactly! And, I knew I was too obsessed with Tribe today, when I had to take my laptop to the tech services on campus, and I totally wanted to see Mega sitting behind the counter. If I'm going to get dispariging looks cause I know nothing about my computer, then I want them from the best!

LOL
I got my Series 1 DVD boxset last year at Dragon*Con and I've gone through them all twice! Definately my favorite season so far. I think all of the actors have improved over the years, but the most obvious one, I would say, would have to be Toni (Trudy). Her character has gone through the most personalities anyway :)

So my 'ship is dead. I'm sort of sad cause the Pralene was pretty much the only reason I started watching. And now without these things the show's a bit hollow to me. which means the snark will be better. But the joy, she will not be the same.

-Slade-Ram-Lex need to have a threeway. Now.
-Yay for everyone being excited about Jack and Sal coming back. I love when the tribe kids get all excited to see each other.
-Why the hell couldn't Pride and May go home to sleep. Is the city that big? I don't think so. They could sleep in bed, then go out later. Jeez.
-Trudy is a smidge too happy. All 50's sitcom housewife. Knock her down someone. She is at her best when ape-shit or depressed.
-Ha! Salene fried his ass! And she had a snappy comeback! She's so Buffy-ish!
-Gel is such a loser-fan. Like me.
-Anyone notice that during Lex and Jay's conversation they only did close-ups? Good stuff.

I agree. Trudy is definately on something...Her "up" mood can't last for long can it? She is too much of a drama queen.

That really bugged me! It made the scene too choppy. I don't mind closeups of Lex any other time though.

He IS a midget! He's a midget compared to me and I'm 5'7! I had my picture taken with him at D*Con and I was so embarrassed because I looked like a big freak next to him!

You could be right about their reasoning for the closeups though...I'll have to pay attention the next time Caleb and James have a scene together.

Well, I just rewatched and I'd like to request a moratorium on "romantic dinners" particularly when hosted by Trudy. I had to cover my eyes and hold my ears because it was so mortifying. I seem to recall a similar dinner with Bray. Also, where'd the pepperoni come from? I know it's a preserved meat product but I don't think it would've survived 2-3 years.

I'm really rooting for Matt Robinson's acting to improve. I think maybe he's done too much theater or something because his voice has this quality like he's used to projecting and it gets in the way of getting his emotion across. But seeing Slade and Lex together just makes me smile. And speaking of Mr. Lex - he held his own in a fight again! Okay, so Slade had to step in there but it was against three guys. So good for him!

Is it just since finding out about Bray's death that Amber's lost her spark? I don't think I've seen her this unsure of herself in at least the past two seasons. The idea that she would be nervous making a speech to the city is ridiculous.

And finally, once again I must say that I *heart* crazy Ebony.

I just got the Tribe Series 1 from Amazon.co.uk, and miracle of miracles, it plays on my laptop! Yay! I finally get to see how it all began. I'm curious to see who acts better or worse in the beginning than they do now.

Sometimes it's hard to pay attention to the acting when every character is soooo annoying. Still, if I had caught it back then, I probably still would've gotten hooked. I'm weak.

I have to say, so far, that Series 1 is really impressing me! There seems to be so much more drama and doom to the events right after the virus. In the later series it seems more like they're doing admin work than trying to survive.

I think the anarchy and the virus, something they couldn't fight against, are much better conflicts and more scary than geeks in spandex and masks whose evil plan is Pacman.

Sometimes it's hard to pay attention to the acting when every character is soooo annoying.

Again, I think the gravity of the situation makes me like the characters more too. I like Cloe so much better when she's running from the Locos than when she's going through adolescent mating rituals with an aforementioned geek in spandex.

And whose dumb idea was it to get rid of Patsy. I really like her. I have to watch my Series 3 tapes again.

Love this show!

Wow, you don't read a thread for a few weeks and come back to people talking about you!

I wish I could see this season SO BADLY! My little brother still maintains that he is taping episodes for me and will mail when the tape is full, but I won't believe it until I put the tape in my VCR and see it for myself :P

I'd love to join in the discussion, as I am thrilled about the return of Jack and the demise of Pride, but I'm gonna have to wait until I actually SEE the episodes.

Thanks for thinking of me, yall!

It's nice when it's not your week to recap because you can't just kick back and enjoy the stupidness without thinking how you are going to explain it in your recap.

Stupid, shallow, completely everyday Dreago thoughts on the Tribe:

Oh my god, please don't make Gel annoying and spiritual. I think I'll have to kill myself then.

That was a crappy funeral. Dal gets this majestic funeral, but Pride, a scion of the Ecos doesn't get some sort of Eco funeral rite? Unbelievable.

Oooh! I hope one of the kids will get eaten by lions!

Oh sweet baby Joseph, shut up Slade. Stop being deep with RAM. Instead, do more cheesy Western style flirting with Ruby.

They've added new music! The bagpipes of fond reminisince? Because we have the guitar solo of luuuurve, the piano of sadness, cheesy casino music, and Tribe Spirit Crescendo.

Oy, Slade's hair is bad. They teased the "step" part of his step cut.

Fuck you Lex! The wind turbine was an awesome idea!

"Girl Power and Chaos". Siva showed emotion and showed it well. Of course, I totally agreed with her disgust.

Punch her! Hate. Gel. Why is Trudy apologizing?!

I love Ram more and more.

Let the fanfic be born, Slade as cabana boy to the Sisters. *dreago's fingers start twitching over the keyboard*

Lex speaks the truth. What's this? Last ep. he was being sensitive and now smart. Winning fights too? Careful Lex, they're going to turn you in a Gary Sue!

I really hope that Jack will stick to his guns and not fall for the trick.

Oh, I do love Mega more and more. Anyone who makes May sweat is good by me, although it does cause her to start "emoting". Ew. Oh, and Java? Hands off my man.

Oh. My. God. Let. Me. Kill. Gel. Please? Please? Oh please? What kind of possible idea was that??? Let's dress Sammy up as Zoot? WHAT?? Sammy, you do have more sense than that, somewhere, you do. Right? Please.

At least someone finally remembered to mention that Brady is Zoot's daughter, and therefore might be slightly in trouble from the fanatics (again). I'm just fond of plotlines like that and I was waiting for someone to mention it.
Although I burst out laughing when Jay was "listening" to Trudy. He had that "I'm really listening and I care, you can tell cause of my eyebrows" thing that I do in class down.

That was a crappy funeral. Dal gets this majestic funeral, but Pride, a scion of the Ecos doesn't get some sort of Eco funeral rite? Unbelievable.

Completely agreed. And what was with that scene with Pride that they kept showing as Salene was talking? It made it look like Pride was there, and he was PISSED that his funeral sucked so bad. Zoot had a better sending-off than that!

Aw. Slade gives up his chance for sex slave to run the crutches home to Ram. That's devotion, right there.

And while I know that most of us are aware of this already, maybe that last scene would have been edgier if the credits didn't have a listing for Darryl/Zoot's double. Come on, people! Suspend the belief! Suspend!

It's nice when it's not your week to recap because you can't just kick back and enjoy the stupidness without thinking how you are going to explain it in your recap.

Yeah, thanks for that. Seriously, I started watching this then had to check that I hadn't missed an episode. There was a lot of puzzled 'when did that happen' going at my house.

I can hardly believe my eyes but there's Lex being all capable and savvy again. Actually, I'm finding it really interesting how it's Lex and May - the ones nobody listens to - who have been able to see or at least surmise what's going on when no one else does. There's precedent for this too, like how dismissive everyone was when Ebony was running around warning everyone about the Chosen.

And speaking of Ebony, as much as I loved her and Jay, the thought of her and Slade gives me a total happy. Oh my god, the sparks between them! Then maybe Lex could get together with Ruby and they'd be one big wonderful dysfunctional family. At least, that's what I want now - don't worry, I'm sure I'll change my mind next week.

This may be, perhaps, the most blatant they've ever been about female leadership. I loved Ebony's plan. Now, maybe she just needed another dose of whatever they're doing to her, but by the end there she seemed to have forgotten all about Zoot. I love her crazy but it would be really awesome to see her be strong enough to turn this situation into what she wants it to be. And if Slade is one of her many harem boys, so much the better.

I too was completely confused by the flashbacks of Pride during his funeral. That was just a bad editing idea. But I did get a huge laugh out of Gel's very frowny face 'it's so sad that he's dead...Hey! Let's play fashion show!" I think she got into Trudy's stash.

-Who has been feeding the lions? And how is there meat for the lions?
Shouldn't the kids have eaten the lions?
-Wouldn't be hard to bury someone near a lake? Too much water everywhere.
-Jack needs red hair back. Now. Much cuter with it.
-May you are a pyscho mainpulative bitch. I respect that. But since I am a Pralene-er and Pro-Sal, I cannot give you a Java like love and am forced to destroy you.
-Why is Amber being all mommy to Mouse? Everyone knows Sal does that.
-Good lines this week--"Hello there! Power and Chaos!" "Hello Power. And you must be chaos."
"Do you promise to follow Zoot?" "Well where did he go?"
-poor Jackers. Totally different zoot though.

I was reading through the posts and I have to agree that the credits saying Zoot/Darryl really annoyed me. Give it away much? Oh, and Jay really needs to stop making out with everyone.   Hi, everyone!

I'm really glad that people had such a great time at the con. I'm already starting to work with Dragon*Con's administration for the 2005 track.

This year and last year, we maintained updates via many sources: The bboards including the Official Boards, The Tribal Alliance, Tribe Red Dragon, Tribe Blue Eagle, and Television Without Pity, as well as on the Undead Tribe's Yahoo List, and Livejournal's tribefans, tribetripe, and dc_tribetrack communities.

As you can well imagine, updating all of these great Tribe resources is very time consuming. To try and make it easier, I am strongly advising fans to consider the following as the best ways to get the most updated North American Tribal Gathering info throughout the year:

The Tribe Track Livejournal
Livejournal is a free blogging service, though paid accounts are available as well. Our online community there is called 'dc_tribetrack' for search purposes.

The Tribal Gathering Yahoo Group:
This is our public mailing list. It is especially excellent as a feedback resource and includes polls, a photo album area, and other excellent features.

I encourage everyone who'd like to stay updated to please use these resources; trying to keep the growing number of Tribe related sites updated all at the same time has simply become too time consuming.

Even though you'll probably find it quiet right now, as we move into 2005 they will begin to get more active, and as you can probably imagine, it's a lot easier to update a mailing list and an lj community then it is to update two mailing lists, two lj communities, and five websites!

I look forward to hearing from everyone.

Thanks again,

Dayna Baldwin
Dragon*Con NA Tribal Gathering Director

  Another week, another episode.

Man, I know people don't like Amber, but I just relate so much. She gets so caught up in the "oldest sibling" mentality, that she should give up on things that are pure pleasure, that she shoots herself in the foot when it comes to love. And, not to mention that other people like Hawk pretty much reinforce this feeling. I'm glad she's going to go back and make a play for Jay. I should probably feel bad for Trudy but I don't. Amber has been gone for a few days, she *knew* that there were some unresolved feelings but she took a chance anyways.

And that's all fine and dandy. But still, to everything there is a cost. And sometimes you take a risk and you lose. Jay's taking comfort in Trudy and indulging his love of playing the nurturer. But there is no chemistry. Not like with Amber. I still remember that moment last season, when Amber who was sick and pale dressed him down without leaving her bed. Hee, had we seen a full camera shot, I think we'd all see that Jay was rock hard for her.

And? Trudy and Jay's kisses are so, so....polite. What's up with these actors? Antonia seems to give it a little more of a go, but not by much. This is not the sensual Jay with the deep tonguing of Ebony nor is this desperate Jay with the passionate embracing of Amber. How can the writers possible expect me to jump ship when the couple offers me no porny goodness? I don't care what anyone says. I want Amber to be selfish for once. To indulge herself for once. Go Jamber. Choose Jamber.

Speaking of ships, I'm annoyed with Ruby/Slade. On the one hand, I like that there was just a little coyness. Mostly it was the most adult relationship. Two people who aren't embarrased to admit that yeah, they'd like a little sex right now. Why not? But then, again with the stale kissing. Sheesh.

Dear Tribe Writers:

Please bring back the hot tongue action. In other words, put Lex and Ebony back on the market cause I'm getting bored.

Sincerely,

Dreago.
ps: While you're at it, have Ram get it on with some girl too. Preferably when is hair is not in spikes and there are blindfolds involved....mmmmmmm.

My goodness, is someone feeling a little frisky right now?

On that note, I would first like to say that I am all about the Kip. The Kip is my type of guy, well, one of my types of guys. I have a lot of types. I'm open-minded that way. So I hope he sticks around. Not like that Hawk guy - he has a sour face and I don't need to ever see him again.

I didn't watch until today because, on my recap weeks, I won't let myself watch the next episode until I'm finished. So I was pleased to note that my observation that the "Zoot" that attacked Jack neither looked nor sounded like Zoot was actually correct. And I'm glad that they wasted no time having Jack figure out the truth because a scared Jack was really sad to watch.

I think I take back any accusations I had made about Jay being a man-whore. The truth is he's a total girl. It's like all those times when I thought he was being sleazy and checking out whoever, he was actually just on the lookout for a new girlfriend because he can't be without one for long. At least when Pride was lying to May and using her for sex, he knew it. Jay actually seems to believe that he's fallen for each and every girl. But given a choice between Amber and Trudy, it's no contest. I hope Amber's ready for a catfight. I liked seeing her being all girly and embarrassed about how she was going to tell him she liked him.

So Java and Mega's plan is leading to a "big day." I can't wait to see what that is.

Speaking of certain people acting like girls, did anyone else think Mega's little freak-out was a tad feminine? Not that I'm complaining; it looks like that'll be one of his few emotional moments, not counting the raised-eyebrow move.

Darryl looks like he may be a funny character (I totally sympathise with his contact lens troubles). Hoping Ruby gets interesting soon.

Bumping b/c, hey - don't we get some new eps tonight? I am really hating this new scedule, hardly ever home on Friday night, and with a broken VCR having a hard time keeping up, other than reading the episode summaries. From reading ahead, looks like Ram will be getting some action eventually (although not from his Hoyay! BF Slade), which for some reason I find hot.

Is it just me, or are most of the female characters just grating this season? (although it could just be b/c most of the female characters seem to be/have been in love with boyho Jay, who just seems like such a dink).

Well, tonights episodes were interesting.

I am totally LOVING the Slade/Ruby ship! I guess it's because I really like the characters on their own, so the two of them together works for me. And I really like the Slade/Ruby/Ram situation. I'm enjoying the "helpless" Ram. Although I did feel very sorry for him last week when he was trying to walk with the crutches.

It was good to see Ellie again too. I'm not a huge Ellie fan, but she is one of the "originals" (as of S2 anyway), so I am quite attached to her. I can't wait for her and Jack to meet up again.

Amber is my favorite female character, but I'm not digging the Jay situation. I think Trudy deserves some happiness in her life. Let's face it, it's been around 4 years since she's had a man!

I'm glad she's going to go back and make a play for Jay. I should probably feel bad for Trudy but I don't. Amber has been gone for a few days, she *knew* that there were some unresolved feelings but she took a chance anyways.

Amber must have said, "There can never be anything between us" a thousand times before she left for the Ecos. She said it to Trudy on more than one occasion. IMO that makes Jay fair game (for use of a better term). Trudy's only mistake was not telling Amber about the relationship when Amber came home.

I still hate May. Then again...I've hated May since day one.

I still love Mega. Then again...I've loved Mega since day one.

Ebony is getting on my last nerve.

Still don't miss Pride.

I know. Me neither. And I feel as if I should feel guilty about that, but, well, I don't.

I love Ram more and more with every passing day. And even though his hair is doing that obnoxious thing again, I still love him. And he walks! Hooray!

Must. Kill. Gel. Must. Kill. Gel. Please, oh please, let me kill Gel. I can't take it anymore. I just can't. The grating voice, that damn fake braid thing that all the new girls seem to be doing, but only Ruby is pulling off.

So who else loved Mega's "acting" when Ram came on the computer screen? He actually emoted for a second. I love it when you lie to them, Mega, darling.

Well, lightsout, I agree that she said "it could never be", but I still think Trudy was dumb. Everyone knows the rebound rule. Even if she believed Amber, which I am not convinced she did, you don't start making out with the guy a few days later. She took a risk and I think she deserves happiness, but risks have their payoffs and their costs. Ya win some, ya lose some.

As for Ruby/Slade. I found myself rooting for Ruby and wanting her to give Slade a bigger smackdown. I felt sorry for him during the morning after but when he came to her that night with the whole, "let's have a two off with rolling benefits" all love died. That's something Lex would say. We have a Lex, I don't want another one.

Speaking of Lex, he's been sensitive, flirty without being a pig, and smart. What gives? If this is the grown up Lex , I like. He's still a hot head and he has his flaws, but hey, I like it. And I think if he can reign in his dick, he'd be awesome with Ruby. Ruby could be like Tai-San. Lex would give Ruby some fun. I don't know why, but Ruby is such a grown up, a little bit of silly cowboy room sexathon with Lex might give her some laughter. Sure, Slade's cute and has the dark and brooding thing, but I think this time around I would like to see Ruby/Lex if Tai-San isn't coming back.

Call me mean, but I have barely an iota of sympathy for Trudy. Dreago's right, she violated the girl code of honor. No matter how many times Amber may have said that she and Jay could never be together, Trudy knew that she had feelings. How did she think Amber would feel seeing Trudy and Jay together? Unless this is payback, conscious or unconscious, for having had to watch Amber and Bray together for so long. Besides, I may have complained about perky Trudy but shrieky panicked Trudy is much worse.

As for 'ships, I am on board for Ruby/Lex. I think it's time to see him grow as a character so why not peg Slade as Lex2.0. Admittedly, I want Ruby paired with someone other than Slade because I am all about Slade/Ebony. I loved her with Jay but he's so freakin' humorless. I'm tired of his earnestness. Which doesn't sound very nice considering I do want him with Amber but they're birds of a feather and anyway, she wants him.

I think Java's overestimating how much control she can exert over Ebony. And she's very much underestimating Siva - that girl has morals and I'd like to see them kick in and lead her to heroism.

I have no opinion yet about Ellie being back. I'll have to wait and see where they go with this.

One final note - what exactly is Gel's purpose? Other than annoying everyone.

One final note - what exactly is Gel's purpose? Other than annoying everyone.

To call up my blood lust, obviously.

Although, I do have to tell all of you what was the funniest Tribe moment for me this past week--and it wasn't even on the show. My roommate (who has been very nice and supportive of my claiming of the TV every Friday for an hour, and my endless rambles as I react to the show and try to tell her all about it) has apparently reached her limit of the theme song. I went into the kitchen to make some dinner while the first ep's credits were rolling and when I came back in, she was standing there, glaring at the TV. When I asked what was up, she said; "I know you like this show, but did you realize? The spirit of the Tribe, it's yours and mine. So can we mute the credits from now on?"

I had to laugh. It does get old.

Hey, my cats LOVE it when I sing Tribe Spirit to them!

So, this week the slash abounds and I can feel my fingertips itch with the desire to you know, write stuff. Ewww! What were you thinking? Slade likes Lex, Ram wants to do Lex in, and Lex is all tied up. *swoons*

I have to say, remember a couple of weeks ago where I was meh about Lex? The love is back. I like this grown more mature version. Lex being all double-o-7 and stuff is neat. And him being flirty with Ruby but not in a gross way. I'm actually pleased to see him not do the Circle Walk of Seduction.

I do find it odd that everyone is like, "killing is bad, Lex", but here Slade is mocking Ram for being a killer. umm, o.k.? Also, on the distasteful scale, I am VERY dissapointed about the emergent Sammy/Mouse pairing. I prophesized about it in several of my recaps for PanFandom/ The Tribal Alliance and now they are tarting Mouse up. It's enough to make me wanna hurl.

And well, this should be obvious, I am on the Amber side of things. There was no reason to start slapping people. In this case. Because y'all know I'm a big advocate of slapping. Trudy started it and she deserved to get whaled on. Amber was mad and while she was jumping to conclusions, smacking her isn't going to change her mind. And frankly? Trudy is living in delusion land. Nobody likes a desperate girl. Amber has Jay's number. Amber is mad, but not crazy. Everything she said to Jay was right on. The credits show very clearly that he is a slut. And I believe that Jay may deny it, but once again, Amber is lying down in bed giving him a dressing down and he.loves.it. Trudy/Jay is doomed. Which is too bad because I do want Trudy to have someone.

You and me both. Sammy needs to die. Mouse deserves better. Although I did think it was kinda funny that both Sammy and Jack were completely clueless about the whole thing. "What was that about? Oh well, look at this cool computer!"

But Mouse? Stay away from Gel. Far, far away.

I too am pulling for Trudy/Jay, because Amber is totally the big sister that thinks she knows everything and is so much more mature than everyone. I hate her, actually.

Oh, I'll continue to sing it. I think I'll just keep it down for the sake of domestic harmony.

Besides, old or not, the credits (song included) so that we have them as concise evidence of Jay's slutdom.
