After seeing Atreyu again on March 5th, I had this to say...
Five Reasons Why Atreyu Rock
1. The music. Duh. The perfect mix of brutality and melody. I like their occasional disregard for traditional song structure.
2. They're professionals who aren't too "cool" to have a clean, well-produced record.
3. They have a sense of humor and are kind of dorky.
4. They're respectful of their peers. Live, in interviews, and on their website they go out of their way to say nice things
about the other bands they tour with.
5. They also always have a kind word for their fans. I swear I got a little misty when they said to take care of one another
- we're all family and if someone falls down, help them up. It reminds me of the old school Sunday afternoon all-ages shows
when bands really tried to foster a sense of community.
In conclusion, the boys are welcome at my home for dinner any day of the week.
A typical Kellygirl story
As noted on the concert list, Atreyu played here on November 18, 2004 and I was very excited to finally get to see them. I
was heading to the show, walking through Kenmore Square, looking idly around. I noticed a guy who I thought looked like the
kind of guy who might be going to the show walking towards me. It wasn't until he was just about to pass me that my brain
went, "Huh? Familiar?" Unfortunately, he had passed me before I was like "Fuck! That's Brandon from Atreyu!" What did I do,
gentle reader? I kept walking. Because I did not want to be that crazy girl chasing him down the street. Twenty seconds. If
I had just recognized him twenty seconds earlier...
