Is anyone from DragonCon gonna post a report? From TW, it seems like it was a good time. Lots of funny pictures.

I guess I'm the first then. Well, number one, it was awesome and they are the nicest bunch of people you'd ever want to meet. Anyway, I wrote a lot about the whole thing so maybe it's best if you read my account in LJ. There's a link in my account to the photo album of pics too.

By the way, if you've been reading the Tribeworld Tour Diary, #15 where they mention a 9am interview where they were given candy and asked why they always talk about food in the diary? That was dreago and myself. Heeheeheehee. I haven't transcribed the tape of the interview yet but when I do I'll give y'all a heads up.

I'm also documenting in my LJ, though I do wish that kellygirl and tresca had gone out of their way to ID themselves to me so I could give my fellow TWoP Tribers some heartfelt hello's, though I think I know exactly who kellygirl is.

EEEEE! I'm so jealous! I can't wait to go through your LJs. Unfortunately, the internet in the dorms has been down for days and I'm sneaking some highly illicit net time in my Statistics Lab right now. Fucking college ruins everything.

But that's so awesome! Go you guys!

I've got stupid homework to do so yeah, I can't write too much but I just wanted to say:

Scapebabe Rocks!!!!

I had so much fun and the panels were excellent. In fact, I enjoyed The Tribe activities much more than the Buffy ones. I'm thinking next year, I'll skip the Buffy ones and volunteer to help out with the Tribe stuff. I'm bummed I had to miss some of the panels because of Buffy stuff *shakes fist at 2 1/2 hour James Marsters Autograph Line*.

I too am keeping a record of what happened. I only have Friday and Saturday so far, but if you wanna read the account from a crazy ranty girl's point of view, try these links for Friday and Saturday. But be warned. I'm all uppity in my LJ and my feelings one day may not reflect how I feel next week. In otherwords, I'm sure I'll recapture the snark.

Our interview ended up not being till Sunday, so I don't have a post written for that day yet. I have homwork tonite, but maybe tomorrow, I'll get around to it.

edited to add: I love your icons ScapeBabe! They crack me up!

Wheee! Fall is finally here! Sure I had to be in class 9am-4 pm and I thought my brain would melt (it's only been two years since I've been in school and yet for a second I thought I forgot how to take notes!) but I survived!

Hello, I'm looking for congratulations here!

Okay, now down to the important stuff. I missed the first two minutes of the show. I don't know why. My alarm went off for 8 pm, I sat down in front of the t.v. and the show had started! Gah.

I'm very intrigued by this Java/Ram sickness plot. Mostly because I do think she is concerned but I don't know why she felt she had to act concerned for her underlings.

Ebony was surprisingly passionate when giving her peppy speech to the MallRats. Which is odd because in the bedroom scene, she kinda glossed over the hospital attack and focused more on personal revenge. For an episode where everyone is harping on Lex about looking out for himself, it's Ebony that is doing the looking out for number one, Jay just happens to be important to her sohe gets included.

Touched by Lex's attempt to reach Pride. Not surprised by Pride's rebuff. Still think the MallRats would have learned by now how to handle Lex though, seriously. Amber can't be the only smart one!

Indian girl showed up again and if she lands a major role I'm going to be pissed off cuase it should have been me. But in all seriousness, before Cloud 9 goes on adding people, they very much need to utilize the ones they have now. ALthough I think Siva can't act her way out of a paper bag, she needs to be given more to do, practice makes perfect and all that rot.

Is it just me or are all the actors (except glowing Ebony) really pale? Like, me pale? I have an excuse, I freckle in the sun (yuck!) but I thought it was warm over there?

I don't know. Pride's been on the show for awhile and tonight? Ouch. Angry!Pride equals Laughing!Chica. I kid because I love.

I didn't know why Java was acting for her men, especially since she warned others not to mention what they saw a few scenes earlier.

Oh and kellygirl(or was it dreago? took me awhile to find them and I lost track of whose LJ I was reading) those pics from the con were awesome. My sister deemed your tribe outfit "very cool" except she is a crazy punk and wanted to wear it to school.

Thanks Chica, that was Moi in the costume. Your sister is a freak if she wants to go to school like that as the skirt was short and I could barely go up stairs. But that might be cause I have a big butt, dunno.

I have another Con report, including stuff from the interview, here. It's not a transcription, just my thoughts and impressions, as if you didn't get enough already. If it's long and rambly, you're reading my Lj.

ps: I'm having major issues with punk ass LJ, make sure you are reading the post with the special message on top. The title should include the words NOT TRANSCRIPTION. Aargh.

I'm squeeing with happiness to have my little show back and showing new episodes. Also, I hardly know where to begin with my comments.

I'm actually intrigued now by this virtual reality sickness. Though I agree that angry Pride is laughable. However May, who I never liked before, has me kind of rooting for her and I think her acting has improved substantially. That little interaction between her and Pride at the ambush was so interesting and I was left wondering whether she had actually come to keep him from doing something crazy or if it's more like a confusion of game and reality for both of them. And Lex offering to help Pride - man, everytime you think you've got it set in your mind that he's a self-serving asshat, he goes and does something to show his humanity.

And I don't care what Meryl Cassie said about Ebony being downright evil, I'm so happy to see her and Jay together. And using the medical truck thing as just one example, I don't think she's given enough credit as a realist. Frankly, I think that's why she's so uninterested in VR because she's not thinking about some ideal world, her focus is on the here and now.

When it comes to Java and Ram, I'm having a hard time figuring out if she really wants to save him or not. Though she did tell Patch that if he didn't save Ram it would be the end of both of them. Maybe she just wants him incapacitated so that she can take charge "while he's recovering."

Also, scapebabe, you are welcome to share our "Whine and Cheese" design - I'll even put together a different back with your fave quote and whatever kind of picture you want. Just let me know...

Well, great! I'm very excited the forums are back, but now I can't remember what we saw last week! I think mainly I still wondered about Java and Ram. I'm still confused by her motivations. But I'm growing suspicious. What if her "shady" behavior is nothing but a ploy from the writers trying to get us all worried? I hate it when t.v. writers get meta on us.

Ved's devotion to Ram was very cute if not entirely velveeta. I loved it. But it makes sense. He's put Ram in the role of older brother and Jay's lost to him. Furthermore, his love for Cloe keeps him with the Technos. If I were Ram, I'd never give Chloe back. Chloe is the key to making sure Ved never pulls a Jay.

I'm also loving the triangle that is forming between Pride, May and Salene. I loved that Lex tried to do something good, but was shut down. But what I really love? The scene with Lex and May, now, I have no idea what kind of "fancy" he was referring to, but whatever, it was hot!

I hope the plots moves forward now. I'm tired of the games and the feud. Give me revolution! Ram in the virtual world! Give me Salene doing something other than worrying! Give me action and death, and please god, shut up Siva!

Finally! The plot seems to be advancing nicely. I love the suspense! Everyone did a good job with the acting tonite except Java. She can only play evil ... worried isn't her forte. Eek. Dee is really doing a good job. Honestly, she seems to be one of the more natural actresses on the show. Her love for Patch is so cute.

Poor Pride. Poor Salene. Was it her or Zandra who has had a pair of earrings dissapear before? I seem to remember something about this. And where exactly does May think she can wear the jewelry? Salene is going to find out and it is going to be ugly!
Hee. "Lose weight" "What is that supposed to mean?!" I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that Lex was hanging out in the bed in his underwear, something we have never seen the girls do. Yeah, certainly this show has NO gratuitous boy nudity. Nope. Not one bit. (refer to our Interview for more details).
I thought Lex was unduly harsh on Siva. I mean, I'm glad she is going to train but she hasn't burned all the meals and this is like the second or third load of laundry she's done. I think the bigger issue is that she's too domestic. I knew this would bore Lex. He's had a Zandra and even then she was high maintenance. I'd kinda like to see Lex pursue someone again. Remember how he had to turn himself inside out for Tai-San? I liked that.

However, if Siva can start taking over the Mom role it would free Salene to be a more proactive leader-she's getting edged out by Ebony again and you know once Ebony takes over Salene is out on her butt.

Kellygirl was right! Ram does want to exist in a virtual world! And Ved wants to be there with him! They're in love! Ved+Ram 4eva!

Okay, and now on to the real world: I have posted two more DragonCon reports in (My Live Journaland a transcript of the Tribe Interview. However, for a more clean and pretty view of the Transcript as well as a window into the Fabulous world of a Fabulous Girl, go to kellygirl's PopCulture Palace!

ETA: Is it just me, or was season 1 racier than all other seasons?

Yeah, what she said.

I'm getting so excited about the buildup and was glad to see Ram's nefarious scheme be revealed. I think this may clue in Ved (and anyone else he tells) that Ram truly is nuts. Okay, and is it just me or did anyone else take particular notice of the shirt that Ram was wearing in the virtual world? The picture on it certainly looked like a familiar face to me.

And I wonder if dreago really meant it when she praised all the acting except Java. Because Pride? It's bad enough that I find his addiction storyline to be hilarious, but his "emoting" is not helping me to take things more seriously. In truth, it might not have stood out to me so much but it's in stark contrast to the way May is coming across. I'm feeling much more subtlety from her as she veers from concern about Pride, to guilt, to self-serving manipulation which has always been her strong suit anyway.

I still don't like Mouse but I did really like the skirt she was wearing this week.

It's funny that Zandra's name came up in comparison with Siva. Because now Siva's sporting that big heart on her cheek which is not dissimilar to the way Zandra would do her makeup. I wonder if Siva's style will change as she moves away from Lex and reclaims some of her power.

Was Lex wearing satin-y or velvet-y boxers? You know, just for informational purposes.

Well, I have to admit, there was a slight pause of "oh man, this guy is not good" when he looked up at Salene and said, "You still want me?" But I was distracted because I was sitting there thinking about the different ways I would choose to deliver the line. You know, practicing for when I make it big. ;)

Pride has always been Pride and I'm used to him. His acting is very consistent. But Java? There has been times when Java really electrifies the screen and she has good chemistry with certain actors, but Java can't do certain emotions and last night that stood out for me.

They put alot of gel in Ram's hair, even in the virtual world. What, they don't have time to give it a quick wash in the sink? I'm wondering if his hair is naturally curly? And they gel it straight? Also, it's wierd how in the City, Ram looks thin but in the virtual world, Ram looks thicker. Obviously this show does not have the budget to be CGI'ing people's bodies. Black really is slimming I guess. But maybe the virtual stuff was filmed later.

Was it her or Zandra who has had a pair of earrings dissapear before?

Salene stole Zandra's earrings to trade for food when she was bulimic.

Pride, Pride, Pride. it's not hard for me to hide my disgust for him when he's beign a good guy, but when he's being an a-hole god is he a bad actor. How did i miss this in Season 3?

Lex looked quite nice in his boxers (I think they were satin-y). When Siva told him to lose weight I couldn't help but laugh. Right.

The scene with Lex and May, now, I have no idea what kind of "fancy" he was referring to, but whatever, it was hot!

In season 1, Lex gets kicked out of the tribe for trying to rape Salene. He falls in with a bunch of kids who have their own tribe - all rejects who were kicked out, who call themselves the Outcasts. He meets May amongst them, and during the night she sleeps with him. In the morning, Lex wakes up, and the Outcasts are gone and so is all of his stuff - including his shoes! When she returns later in the season, she suggests to Lex that Tai-San isn't the right woman for him. This is of course, before she met Pride.

I can't offer any commentary on the latest episodes because I missed them due to my roommmate fucking up during my recording time. This despite the big honkin' sign on the VCR that said 'Taping, 8:00 - 8:30 PM: The Tribe, Chn 139!

But the good news is, it turns out my presumably piece of shit DVD player that I got from work will read my S1 discs, and a friend of mine's player will also read it. She has a VCR that can take feeds from the player, so this means that anyone interested in videotape copies of Season 1 might want to give me a yell.

Sorry to be picky (I'm just annoying like that), but it was during the mid to latter part of S2 that the whole Lex getting kicked out and meeting the Outcasts thing happened. Because that was at the time he was an alcoholic because he was all depressed over Zandra's death and the way he treated her. And also, this was right after the Chosen first show up and start amassing power. May mentioned how they were headed out to join them.

Every week now I'm doing the countdown. Only 9 more episodes in Season Four. It hardly seems possible as more things are being revealed with each episode. In regards to this week, it's Ram's plan to punish Jay. Because it's brilliant and terrible and I certainly don't believe he just thought it up specifically for this purpose. He wants to blur the line between the game and reality, but why? What's to be gained?
And I'm still not buying the face Java is presenting. Her "I love you very much" to Ram and her assurances to Ved that he'd be next in the line of command seemed designed to manipulate but I'm still not sure what it is that she wants. Still, Ram doesn't seem particularly inclined to fall all over himself thanking her while he's far too willing to believe in Ebony. Which is all well and good as we all know how I'm rooting for her.
As usual, I'm easily manipulated so I'm liking Dee and Siva more and more and Pride way less. I still can't figure out what's going on with him and May. Sometimes they seem like they're working together to hide and continue in their game addiction. Yet she is the one who spilled Pride's problem to Lex, and she does sometimes act like they're enemies. And her shooting him in the game is prime example of that.
Now for a scheduling complaint. You know, there's plenty of eye-rolling about how WAM shows The Tribe all the time so episodes are constantly being repeated. But as of next Friday they're no longer repeating the new episode at midnight. In fact, it won't be on again until the following Friday afternoon. I'm seeing a trip to Radio Shack in my future because I'm going to need a splitter if I'm going to tivo/tape the 3 shows that are on Fridays at 8pm.

WAM loves The Tribe. WAM loved DragonCon. WAM however, is an itty bitty department in comparison to the large corporation that is Starz-Encore. Starz-Encore is generally a 'movie channel', and apparently feels that the show is not lucrative or some such nonesense.
I don't know how true the rumor is, however. But I'm prepared to take my cues from the Farscape and Firefly campaigns if need be.
