That was all in that book? Really? Huh. It's been nearly 10 years since I've read it, so all I can remember is that there
was a virus that killed all the adults and something about living in a school. I remember thinking: Why the fucking hell would
they want to live in a school? Wouldn't a shopping mall be way cooler?
And lo these many years later....

For Immediate Release
STARS FROM THE INTERNATIONAL SCI FI
TELEVISION SERIES "THE TRIBE" MAKE FIRST U.S. APPEARANCE
Meryl Cassie, Caleb Ross and Beth Allen to attend
DRAGON*CON Labor Day Weekend
ATLANTA, May 1, 2003 - Where the virus came from no one knew. Was it bacterial warfare or some nation's scientific experiment
gone horrifically wrong? Only an intensive inquiry could answer that. But there is no-one left to hold such an inquiry. No
adults anyway. And the few children left behind are too busy surviving to worry about what had plummeted them from a hi-tech
world of sophistication - into a primitive hell of anarchy, confusion, danger and fear. Such is the introduction to the international
sci fi hit television show, "The Tribe," shown exclusively in the U.S. on WAM!
During Labor Day weekend, August 29-September 1, five stars from the series, including Meryl Cassie (Ebony), Caleb Ross
(Lex) and Beth Allen (Amber), along with "The Tribe" creator, writer, and executive
producer, Raymond Thompson, will voyage to Dragon*Con, America's largest annual science fiction and popular arts event.
The cast will participate in 30 hours of activities just to The Tribe and their fans, including signings with the cast and
creator, Q & A panels on a
multitude of topics, workshops on "Tribe" face-painting and fashion, trivia and costume contests, and much more!
Produced and filmed in New Zeland, "The Tribe" has captivated teens in the U.S. and throughout the world. The
series' Website boasts 15 million hits per month with some 2 - 3 million generated from the U.S.
The show can be seen exclusively on WAM! Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with additional playdates throughout the month.
The host and co-sponsor of this exciting Tribe gathering is Atlanta's Dragon*Con. Now in its 17th year, the convention
also features additional gatherings for fans of Star Wars, Star Trek, X-Files,
Hercules and Zena, Buffy, Lord of the Rings and many additional favorites. Other attending Guests include: John Rhys-Davies,
Luke Perry, David Carradine, Brad Dourif, Walter Koenig, George Takei, James Marsters, Ray Park, Ray Bradbury, and Anne McCaffrey.
Over
25,000 fans are expected to attend this year's event!

thinking up questions and posting them!. If they don't make the interview, there ain't no reason not to gak the questions
when we meet them at DragonCon, right?
Edited to add, since double posting is evil:
It's like they don't want us to watch Tribe. Has anyone seen the June schedule? It's highly confusing. I'm going to call
WAM and lobby for a better time slot, cause this is just insane. What happened to Date at 8?
Also say the new ep. yesterday.
Definately a filler ep. All I came away with was, "Why isn't Cloe did yet?" Since she has seemed to dissapear,
that makes me feel better. Oh, and it is also official. Siva is no longer amusing. I hate her too now. This tough, karate
girl is afraid of a pie (even though she has a laser) and can't wash her own clothes? And threatens torture on children who've
obviously have been through trauma? I'm telling you all right now, if Siva becomes Zandra 2.0, I'm going to write an angry
letter.

Yea, I'm hating Siva too. Although I can relate as a city girl who gets a little itchy when confronted by too much untamed
nature, I can't believe she'd turn into such a whiny, clingy baby. I can see Lex is gonna get bored real fast.
And what exactly happened to Cloe? It looked like they scanned her to put her in the game but instead put in May. Where
they hell has she been? If she got captured with everyone else, why isn't she all screwed up from being experimented on? I'm
sure they're going to pull some crap like she was able to take it because she's such a survivor. Still, watching her play
the game with the music swelling as she finds the key - it was very compelling.
I am ashamed to say I laughed when Jay punched out Pride. Though my favorite little thing of the episode was at the "hospital"
when Dee said in her adorable little accent "This is hopeless."

but that's probably the rugby player in me.
Last week's ep was awesome. Salene is so cool(as usual). And the whole Pride thing turned out a hell of better than it
sounded in the spoilers. And May's back. That's fine. But I'd much rather have Alice. She would so kick ass in that game.
but what happened to Chloe? it's not like we saw her die or get lost in the game?

I'm not entirely certain she's not screwed up. She was frantic to get back into the game when she was yanked - I'm thinking
reality sickness similar to Pride's? Only of course, possibly better acted and without that snazzy quck turn around time.

Yay new ep tomorrow (I'll need it after my AP test). Plus another chance to see Pride's junkie-ness (and toplessness).
Speaking of which that was a pretty tidy ending to that plot. Does Jay have some sort of a magic healing punch or something?
I kept expecting Pride to pass out or fall down in every scene after that. Speaking of Pride I know he's staying to "help
the people he cares about" but when does that time end and what will happen to him and Salene?
Oh Siva. Still sort of like her mostly because she amuses me with her bad acting and stupid plots but how does a pie no
matter how moldy resemble anything that has ever lived? And the laundry question? I was hoping Salene was going to punch her.
Good Bye Chloe! One down one to go. Your days are numbered Ved. I hope.

Dude since when did Ved ever care about Chloe enough to risk his life? Absence must make the heart grow fonder (not for

Siva was horrible as usual but not campy bad just bad. She's such a baby. It was water for Christ's sake. She used to have

Finally got to see the new episode - damn those hotel rooms for not having WAM. Not that it would've mattered as I had
no access to a computer anyway.
It actually makes me sort of jumpy that if the battle between Ved and Ram happens next week there are no more new scenes
from the credits to speculate on. Because there aren't any new eps scheduled for June and if scapebabe is right and we're
not going to see those final 13 episodes of Series 4 for a while I just might explode.
I'm looking forward to seeing what ends up happening with Java. On the one hand, she was so willing to team up with Jay
against Ram but once she felt dissed by him it was all about getting to be Ram's pet again. Hmm, reminds me of a certain sister
of hers. And now Ved too is starting to be unwilling to be Ram's supportive little lackey. And frankly, whether or not he
truly cares for Cloe is irrelevent to me. Even if she was simply a pal he was used to having around, the point is she disappeared
into a game he knows to be dangerous.
And as much as I've always hated May, I'm really glad to see her. I think she'll be a changed person. I doubt it'll affect
Pralene (and too bad for that as I'm not behind them) because as responsible as Pride has felt for her, that's about the extent
of it - she loved him he pretty much used her and pretended to care. But I think she'll bring an interesting dynamic to the
Mallrats.

1,2,3,A,B,C, Tribe is the best show for you and me!
3 times I laughed because Lex was being so protective of Siva and frankly it cracks me up. He's like a mother hen in one
ep. and a bad boyfriend in another.
2 times I have praised the Lord that Cloe has not appeared in an episode.
1 time I was surprised that RAM didn't kill VED. I guess I should have seen it "not" coming, but I was too wrapped
up in the NOT choreographed fight. Holy crap. So only gladiator LEX and JAVA get a cool fight scene and Ram and Ved get to
make it up as they go along? It was horrible.
A great scene with Salene and Ebony. Neither of them backed down and still they got a glimpse of each other's positions.
But I'm really hoping that Salene will come up with some sort of destrcutive plan.
Because Jay? Is worthless now. I get that he's feeling out of the loop and all, but it's time for him to get off his hieney
and officially defect, officially become a double agent or officially assasinate Ram, anyone of those will do me just fine.
Plus? What about Jamber? I miss those UST days. As long as they stay UST since we don't know Bray is dead. Mmmmdelicious angst.
Controlling Pride is like herding cats! I think Amber was the only one who was able to guide is actions. Because this
is yet another time Pride has run off to do his own thing. I don't think that he is relapsing, I actually think he might have
some sort of plan. Or I could be totally wrong and he is relapsing. And that makes me sad. Poor, poor impulsive Pride. The
Mall Rats need a strong leader, not a Mother and sadly, Salene so far has been a strong mom. Which is nice, but she needs
to be a bit less emotional and bit more tactical.
Didn't someone say earlier that RAM looked like a rodeo clown? I couldn't get that image out of my head at all last night.
I'm not sure if I should be annoyed or grateful.
Ebony looked beautiful. She is really well lighted. If I were another cast member, I'd be jealous. May hasn't changed,
physically at all, but to see her all lovey dovey was wierd. I know she's suffering game withdrawls but the May I remember
was more of a love nag. It's okay though, cause I'm enjoying it. I speculate that May might strain the Pralene, but she won't
bust them up. Pride gets turned on by girls in charge, though he might feel moved to protect girls in distress.
Fashion Nazi might hate Dee, but every ep. I love her more and more. She may be dressed completely wrong, but her skin
is flawless and fair and I'm still likeing the wild pink hair. Plus she told Ved the shut the hell up and that gets me all
happy.
**************
Okay, shallow observations aside, I really want to say that one thing has dissapointed me a bit and that is the sputtering
out of the colonialis/imperialist metaphor. I feel like we've been in a holding pattern for a couple of weeks and the game
is becoming too much of a distraction for the writers. Although I believe the game is a very important element of the metaphor
(we need those bread and circuses!) I think it is time to quit muckin' about with helmets, scanning and zappers (Hate Mouse!)and
get on with the resistance. That's just my opinion.

Still loving Salene, but did anyone understand what she meant when she left before the fight started? Something about
stopping it but I don't think that actually happened. Oh and the fight? too funny. I can't decide what's worse: being and

Poor Pride and his addiction. Though I'm surprised he has any ability to hold himself together at all - short temper not

she has yet to fully wake up and recapture her annoyingness. Perhaps I am just influenced by her very pretty makeup.
Okay, what is the deal with Patch the stud? Is Siva just friendly and clueless or is there some sort of plan to manipulate
him? She did get him to help tidy up the kitchen after all. Actually, I'm really starting to be suspicious of quite a few
characters whose motivations I can't quite figure out. Like Ved - is he staying with Ram to destroy from within or does he
still believe in the elusive Techno goals? And Java - does she want Jay around (for herself) or does she want him out and
suffering. Thank goodness I've got Ebony and her simple "is it good for me" attitude.

Okay, what is the deal with Patch the stud? Is Siva just friendly and clueless or is there some sort of plan to manipulate
him?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think Siva actually means anything by it. It's just the whole writer decoy thing to throw people off about the
possibility of Patch and Dee. While I still think the actress who plays Siva sucks, I'm starting to see what the character
is supposed to be like if she were played by a competent actress, and she's clearly the nicest of the three sisters. Siva's
tendency to bully and her cruelty seems more like a matter of developed habit due to her environment rather then because she's
a sadist like Java or an opportunist like Ebony. Being the middle child sucks. I also thought her bonding with Mouse over
facial cleansers cute.
Though I hate to admit it, the scene between her and Lex sitting in front of the computer had some decent chemistry. Now
I'm going to go wash my mouth out with soap for saying that. Tai San + Lex 4 EVAR!

Like Ved - is he staying with Ram to destroy from within or does he still believe in the elusive Techno goals?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ved's a pansy-assed, pimply faced little boy with no balls. I don't think he's clever enough to be a double agent. The
only reason he got his gumption up with Ram in the first place is because his convenient means of 'getting some' went away.
(Yeah, I know I'm being harsh and oversimplifying, but I don't care. I hate Ved with a beautiful hate, a beautiful hate akin
only to the hate I have for Ned, which can be forgiven because I hated Ned because he was a horrible person played by a very
good actor. Ved just sucks.)

And Java - does she want Jay around (for herself) or does she want him out and suffering.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think Java knows what Java wants. Java's too busy dealing with her own inadequacy issues concerning Ebony. But
I think Java is more of a psycho then Ebony ever was.

Great news, y'all!
It seems Tom Hern is the fourth actor coming to DragonCon. However, it looks like there were only be four actors and the
creator, totalling five people, as opposed to five actors and Raymond, like we originally thought.
Still, Caleb and Tom in the same room? Be still my heart. I'm going to buy a pillow especially to take with me and keep
in my room so I can scream and cry like a fangirl before going down to meet them and being totally cool about it.

This is where I think things are inconsistent. Ved is portrayed as some kind of technological/programming genius but he's
not some geek like Patch. He's confident - whether it be real or bravado - and pretty cute in an I-haven't-hit-puberty way.
He's been beaten up by both Lex and Ram, yet he doesn't appear to fear either of them or Jay. So why hasn't he exhibited a
more mercenary side? If Cloe and/or "getting some" are that important to him, why isn't he more proactive instead
of just going around asking people if they've seen Cloe. He knows what goes on and I would think that would make him a lot
more fearful for her safety.

Cloe's obviously a beard. Have you seen the way he was primping that fake Mozzie's makeup a few episodes back?

I missed yet again. But I guess I'll get to enjoy a nice little nice hour to hold me over until next fall.
Have you guys read the new message at tribeworld? They're moving production to Austrailia and they're thinking about a
movie. Don't care about the move but a movie? Hopefully not.

I have a question for everyone. I'm putting together a website with a section devoted to The Tribe. Does anyone have objections
to me archiving this thread there? I will have a link to this forum but as it is, since I didn't think to archive before,
we've lost all the pre-April discussion. Most likely I would be editing out the Season 5 spoilers but otherwise I would include
the date and poster names. I'd really like to showcase the quality discussion here and it'll be a nice complement to the interviews
dreago and I get at DragonCon.

Finally saw 5/23 ep.
So Siva was able to come from screwing up dinner to Donna Reed complete with apron? A bit far fetched. And I don't think
she actually likes Patch just flirting with him because it makes him embarassed/confusing us until the inevitable Dee/Patch
hook up.
Funniest moment of the ep is a toss up between Pride banging and making noises at the computer like a monkey or May in
bed looking like she's being pleasured down below. (sorry couldn't think of a better euphemism)
Pay to Play. Honestly if I were into the game like everyone is I could probably be coerced ino working at least once.
But then I'm used to work to be able to play so it makes sense. Although hauling coal around isn't exactly the same as McDonalds.

I really liked last week's episode. I felt that in this ep. in particular, had some awesome acting.
I loved the Java/Jay chat. They were really working well off of each other. And Ved/Ram scene was really good. Everyone
looked well rested and prepared for their scene.
I'm still holding out hope for VED. I hate him, but I think he might stay with RAM but pass on info to the Resistance.
And that's fine, cause that means no Cloe. Jay dug his own grave by speaking for Ved. I think Ved might have left had it not
been for Jay jumping his gun. But I'm very glad Jay is leaving, hopefully it will pick up the plot line pacing a bit.
As for Siva and her Donna Reed ways, I told ya, she's a giver. I said it weeks ago: She's gonna do whatever Lex wants,
fit any mold and then Lex is going to give her the brush off. So, we have a bit of an adjustment period , but Siva becomes
the perfect, femminine housewife, complete with facials and Lex leaves in the middle of breaky. Excellent.
And yes, we all know Dee and Patch are meant to be.
How excited am I that the sick girl in the hospital that reminded Jay of his ex, was an obvious grown- up actress? There's
hope for us yet!

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I don't think that Siva's flirting with Patch with an ulterior motive in mind.
I think she thinks he's a nice, sweet boy, and that's pretty much it. Now I'm going to go shower, because I just ascribed
some kind of motivation to Monique's character.
Was anyone else singing hallelujah when Ebony figured out about image manipulation! I was practically cheering her on.
And we all got to see how self-obsessed Java really is.
AND we got to see Pride pull a con worthy of Lex!
Good episode, this past one, y'all.

Yay! Good episode.
What the hell kind of cake was Patch baking that got him covered in flour? Did a miss a scene?(my direct tv is on the
fritz, I missed the middle). I wouldn't have thought the Technos raided the mall, I would have guessed a gang trying to help
their own.
Pride conning Lex was pretty sweet. Ulterior Motive Pride is pretty hot (although lagging behind Pralene Pride and the
number one champ topless Pride). Like I said I missed the middle what color is Pride? A blue to match his smear? But then
he'd have to shoot Sammy or Mouse.
Siav is being very stupid. Getting Lex freaked out and insecure about their relationship when he's the only reason she's
lasted this long there is gonna get her kicked out.
I must say I was very happy Jay took off his headset thing because my sister and I were complaining that he didn't take
it off while he was at the table with Salene. Why did he leave it on for that long?
I don't understand WAM's scheduling. I heard (from this board I think) that they were going on hiatus for the summer.
When does that start? Because this Friday is Young Hercules and the next week after that is another Tribe. I am happy to get
another week though; i thought this was the last until fall.
