Despite knowing all the bad things Ebony has done, my heart is breaking for her. Yes, she saw how Ram can manipulate people's
images and maybe she'll realize that at some point (probably when it's too late) but I can completely imagine the shock of
seeing her worst nightmare played out in front of her. Damn Java for giving Ram that kind of info!
I also can't believe Lex is stupid enough to beg to fight again. Um, dude, remember they can kill you in the game? And
why is Dee still so obviously hung up on him? Can't she see how adorable Patch would be without those glasses?
I, too, wish Cloe would die. How long will it be before she dons the Techno jumpsuit? I hold out hope that this will all
bite her in the ass.
And now for the girliness. Dear lord, Pride looks like he's the most amazing kisser! I was actually making "mmmm"
noises watching this week's kiss. The way his nose squished into her cheek... okay, that doesn't make it sound particularly
appetizing but I am nonetheless hungry.

the ep. Hopefully I can catch it next week.
I don't think Dee's hung up on Lex. If anything, she's one of the few chicks who can hang out with him, be his friend,
and not completely blather like she's an idiot. Alas, poor Alice, your talent in picking potential boyfriends sucketh.
I think adolescence somehow ruined Jamiee's (Cloe) ability to act. The gene ran its course or something.
Mmmmm. Pride. Mmm. Lex.
Hell, I wouldn't even kick Jay out of bed for eating crackers, and even Ram, when he's not wearing his spikey horn hairdo
and funky green eyemakeup, is pretty darn cute.
(spoiler edited) Never since Ved and Bray has my gaydar gone off screaming like that. For Chrissake, Ved was fussing over
the fake Mozzie's makeup!

I'm watching S3 at 10pm each night and just saw the answer to something I always wondered about. In early S3 Pride had
long hair and later it was shorter. I never knew it was because Tally and Andy cut it when they and Ned kidnapped him. Well,
at least they were good for something. I like Pride with the shorter hair.
S4 ep from Friday - Seems like Ebony would have confronted Jay (angrily) instead of sitting and sobbing. It just seemed
a bit out of character for her. I like Patch more and more each episode but I'm a huge sucker for geeks. Jay is hot.
ETA - S3 scene that made me laugh.
Luke (as pregnant woman goes into Labor) - I'ts perfect. You'll be present at the birth of the first baby born to Zoot.
Guardian - Are you mad ???? I'm outta here. (hee)

I do really enjoy these Season 3 eps that seem to harp on the Guardian being uptight and repressed. Not to mention afraid
of women. It strikes me that it's not too far off from Ram and his germ phobia. I wonder if we'll ever find out just what
happened to Ram. Lately he seems not too well, like he's in pain or more uncomfortable.
And I'm starting to freak that Season 4 will be ending in early September. As anxious as I may get to see more more more,
I don't want it to end. Especially if we don't know if/when we're going to get Season 5. All the other seasons ended in a
cliffhanger-y manner and I'm not a patient person. Heck, I'm still all frazzled from watching Season 1 and never having seen
the first half of 2.

This episode should be titled, "Shiny Lip Gloss."
1) NOW all of a sudden Dee has a crush on Lex? I kinda hate it that they couldn't have been friends. It would have been
good for Lex to have a female friend...I know you could have interpreted Dee's behavior as love, but I think you could have
just as easily interpreted Dee's behavior as a good friend. Even if Lex hasn't really done anything to deserve a good friend.
2)All right, I have to say I admire Ebony for doing the mature thing and going to confront Jay, even if it meant being
a brat (understandable) about it first. But it's too bad Ebony misunderstood the situation. But since this is a soap, I guess
it's inevitable.
3) Salene being city leader. I think she's a good and strong leader but I'm afraid she still might be a tad too optomistic.
Ah well, Ram will disavow her of her illusions.
4)So in one scene Siva is saying she won't forgive Lex and ONE SCENE LATER she is? I mean, I get it that she wants to
forgive him cause she still likes him, but damn, bad writing. Plus, you know, LEX + Tai-San forever!
5) I did like the bed scene though... Even if Siva looked completely uncomfortable lying on top of him. Not in "i'm
embarassed' but uncomfortable in "my leg is jammed up in a wierd way." She should have Harsh Light of Day'd him
(mmmmSpike panther crawl...*drool*), but then I guess her ass would have been in the air, which isn't a bad thing since she
is a cutie. I loved it when he just kinda mellowed out and said, "you're so beautiful" Too bad I was busy going,
No! Tai-San! What about Tai-San! Gah!
My only regret is that these actors are cute together, but they have no kissing chemistry. Or maybe the blocking to the
lead up to the kissing is off. Who sits around a foot apart, says something, kisses them, sits back to a foot apart and continues
saying something as if nothing happened? I know the actors are young so they might not be sexually experienced but damn, the
director ought to know that it looks wierd. It just does. It's like the actors stop to steel themselves for the kiss. And
it yanks me right out of the moment. Dammit. Am I crazy, does anyone know what I mean?
6)Loving Ram and his democratic punishment. Get the city to dole out the pain and feed the city's sadism. Desensitize
them, make them think it's all a game and yipee!! Ram can continue to be as cruel as he wants to and everyone will go along,
to caught up in entertainment and bloodlust to complain. Plus, if someone objects to Ram's punishment, anyone who agrees with
the protester would have to feel guilty for voting for punishment in the first place. And people don't like to feel bad. Thus
you make your public your accomplices. Brilliant. I love it.
7) Lex as deputy. Not a bad idea. I didn't see it coming. However, if I was Salene, after I made the announcement, I would
have taken Lex aside privately. Lex doesn't like to be chastised in front of women. Then I would have said that I need him
to be more low profile because I have a better assignment for him. He still has to keep on the beat and do his job, but he
will be her Special Ops man. He can be her spy. He will keep his eyes and ears open to the ground to gather info from the
street and from the technos, since she knows all those kickback collections made him many contacts. Lex gets all puffed up.
Salene keeps an ally.
8)Damn that Cloe. She's quick to point out cruelty but is blind to Ved's cruelty. I'm tired of her. Kill her. Or give
her something useful to do so I stop throwing things at my t.v. Even seeing her do nothing on screen pisses me off.

I've always argued against Dee having a crush on Lex. She seems to know better in general. Maybe it was a teensy tiny
crush, or more of one of those 'gee, what might have been' fugues at best, but she's never been on the over-obsessive level
of say, Alice.

Preachin' to the choir, baby. I began to worry that Siva's bad acting was causing a gravitation field, but then I realized
you know, he'd be going for Cloe under that theory. Weren't Ebs and Siva awfully chummy for two people who are supposed to

------------------------------------------------------------------------
I find myself disturbingly more attracted to him as time goes on. Not so much Ram per se (though when he's not spitting

when his hair isn't in those awful spikes and....uh, ok. Wiping the drool. Something is very wrong with me. Close your eyes

Not an auspiscious start for Salene - she pushed Lex just a bit too hard with that 'you haven't been excused' crap, but
I think she'll find her equilibrium. Ram's going to be very surprised when he sees she isn't the push-over he thought she
was.
Did anyone else get confused over where she had a nose piercing or a pimple?

Ahh scapebabe, it's like we were separated at birth...Lex and Pride (Bwah!), Salene's piercing (which is cute, but might
need to be a tad bigger) and Ebs and Siva. I accept a lot of things from this show, so yeah. There's some odd choices going
on. Hee, and Lex has hit on Cloe, which I find frelling hillarious.
Gotta disagree with you chica345, I don't think Salene and Lex were pals. Lex softened towards Salene and showed her some
respect this season and Salene is a kind person in general. But they were not friends. Family maybe, but not friends. Salene
didn't seemed to perturbed when Lex was captured. She was much more concerned about Ellie.
In fact, I would like to point out, that in a strict sense, Lex has no friends. Dee is friends with him, but when have
we seen Lex open up to her and have a conversation? Give her a gift? Do a favor for her? I'm not saying he's not a good partner
or that he won't protect Dee.. I just haven't seen much "give" in that relationship coming from Lex.
The other boys kinda disdain him. And the girls are scornful or horny. He's a lonely boy who takes and takes. The only
time I have seen him have long conversations with boys was when he was drunk and long conversations with girls was when he's
horny or when he was taking Tai-San's "cure" in season 1. Now, that kind of angsty, pained and white buttoned down
shirt and wife beater combination I could really get behind...I would really like to see a return to that Lex. Mmmm angsty
boy goodness.
Anyways, he opens up to his girlfriend at the moment and that's that. Making his relationship with women more ambivalent.
Oh, and he opened up to Bray a couple of times, which is interesting because they really, really dislike each other. Good
times.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hee. I see what you mean. I'm not quite there yet, but when his hair is down and mussed, I notice that he has nice skin
and a nice mouth. Full lips with a nice smirk. In fact, I was talking about this last night to the hubby. If Tom Hern got
his teeth taken care of, he would be attractive in an unconventional sense. The thing is, he has really strong facial features.
Heavy mouth, large forehead..etc. When you have facial features like that, it is really easy to be very, very ugly or very,
very interesting. I can see the potential of his strong features but his teeth and insane hair keep it all hidden. As he gets
older and his body gets bigger and his jaw gets squarer, he will be really handsome in a classical roman sense.
What can I say, I have a gift for seeing potential hotness in young boys. I knew Elijah Wood would be hot when I saw him
in Huckleberry Fin and the boy was like 8 at the time. I knew which one the Hanson brothers would grow into the kind of boyish
smile and rosy cheekbonedness that Jon Bon Jovi sported in his Living on a Prayer days, as soon as I saw them running around
in MMMbop. I also knew that the more unattractive Hanson would look much better with shorter hair. And he did. A gift, I tell
ya. A mighty gift. A possibly pervy gift...
What the hell am I saying now?

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hell, no. Not since [spoiler start]he attempted to rape her[spoiler end] in S1 (or maybe it was S2). I think the friendliest
conversation they've ever had was when she cooed sympathy at him for Tai-San being missing, and he kinda squirmed because
she didn't realize he was schtupping Siva on the side. She asked if there was some way she could help, and he sorta of heh'd
and said, "Maybe later." There's not a lot of love lost between Lex and Salene.

I'm not trying to lessen the severity of many of the things Lex has done, but at the same time, he has probably one of
the roughest backgrounds of all the Mallrats. The only woman who's ever treated him with any kind of decency is Tai-San. Zandra
was wrapped up in herself (is my impression), and Siva has the emotional consistancy (and acting ability) of mayonnaise. Lex
needs a strong woman who knows how to NOT make him feel like her strength makes him weak, which is exactly what Tai-San did.
I bet he loves being tied up, too. Was that my outside voice?...
Speaking of the Herndog, have you seen that pic of him on Tribeworld with his hair down wearing the sunglasses? Oh. My.
Gods. It's funny you should mention, dreago, because Tom's features remind me of a description in a book where it talks about
how the individual features of a particular character aren't attractive, but if you put them together, in combination it made
him incredibly good looking.

Oops! Late to the party. I feel like I have so much to comment on even before I can fully get into this week's episode.
Firstly, see I was right (as was chica345), Dee has been mooning over Lex. I know what mooning looks like! Of course,
Patch is totally mooning over Dee (awww! he made her ice) so we've got a nice triangle set-up. As for Lex, he did have at
least one friend - Ryan. But he did a lot of taking from him as well. Ryan put up with so much - I mean how could he possibly
remain friends with Lex after he attacked Salene. And drunk is no excuse!
These days Ebony is my favorite character and even though I'm sad that she's pushed Jay away, I like that she's still
trying to work an angle with Ram as she agrees to marry him. And I love all the veiled euphimisms. "I'm not going to
do anything I don't want to." Am I to assume Ram should not be expecting any sexual favors? Even if they would only be
virtual anyway? But this isn't the first time we've seen her and Siva tentatively bonding and with their romantic situations
they have a lot in common. I think the closeness between Java and Siva has been fading for a long time - Java has always been
jealous of Ram's affection for Siva. And if I think about it Java's also jealous of Ebony and Jay, so really it's almost like
she's the most vulnerable of the sisters.
As for Salene as city leader, I'm not sure how I feel. It's not like I didn't see it coming but I do agree with dreago
that she's being overly optimistic. At first when she went into the meeting with Ram, I thought she was pretending to be meek
in order to make sure he keeps overestimating her - which I think would be a good plan. Someone needs to infiltrate and Ebony
was too strong of a personality to fake otherwise. The way Salene's going, she's going to make enemies no matter how good
her intentions are.
And once again the women are the strong ones - they have the vision and the drive to carry it out. So why weren't there
any shirtless boys this week?

I could conceed that Dee was mooning a little, but again, whatever attraction she had was nowhere near the obsessive level
of someone like Alice. (Don't get me started on my 'Alice settled!' rant)
When we first see Ram at the beginning of S4, [spoiler start]he's actually in VR, rolling around on a bed with Java and
Siva. He starts making out with both of them, and then gets totally turned off because he's swapping spit and that isn't ster-ILE![spoiler
end] So I don't know that he's exchanging any kind of sexual favors with anyone, really. However, I was surprised at the vulnerability
on his face after she accepted. He looked like a hopeful little boy. Awwww.
Java certainly is the most uncertain of the sisters. She's upset over Ram's favor of Siva, and is so hung up on their
parents' favoritism of Ebony it's pathetic.
As I said earlier, Salene went a little overboard, though I also thought the meek behavior was a ploy. Part of her problem
is that unlike Ebony, she will sometimes waffle and allow herself to appear uncertain. Throwing her power around to Lex, when
surely after the years she's lived with him she'd know how to handle him, wasn't a smart move.

Finally saw last week's ep, but I pretty much agree with everyone else.
Didn't like Salene in this episode. Seems like she couldn't stick to her meek plan. And I don't think demoting Lex was
the best idea. I did like when she jumped on Pride when she won and he looked like he was going to vomit.
Dee mooning over Lex was cute. Patch mooning over Dee was cuter. But dear God if she doesn't change clothes I fear my
retinas will have suffered permanant damage. That's the worst Mall Rat outfit I've seen.
Poor Ebony. But Ram was looking pretty damn hot at the end of the episode so maybe not so bad after all. The Ebony/Siva
sisterly chat was cute.I know she can't act but *whisper* I sorta like her and Lex.

You and me both!
I feel like I can barely remember the episode I was so enthralled by Pride's insane laughter when given a glimpse of reality
space. Now I'm kind of worried for him. They certainly made a point of showing how eager Cloe was to get back in along with
Ved's warning that it can really mess with your head. I think I would actually like to see him get really messed up and need
to be rescued. I mean, I love him to pieces and all (wow! that smile and laugh!) but he is kind of pompous.
And I loved all the seething glances between Ebony and Jay. I may not have cared for her wedding dress (and damned if
I wasn't spoiled for her getting married by stupid tribeworld interviewing her about her costumes) but her makeup looked so
fantastic. Now I have to come up with an appropriate occasion to wear rhinestone eyeliner. Anyway, I'm glad that just because
Ebony and Siva had some moments of bonding that all the years of resentment and competition haven't been forgotten. And how
ironic that her "joining" the Technos for all intents and purposes is what pushes Siva over the edge to want to
leave them.
I really hope that Dee can get over this Lex thing and appreciate Patch. And I echo the sentiment that she needs a new
outfit RIGHT NOW.

God the woman who plays Alice is awesome.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's cause this woman, actually, like has degrees! From something called the Royal Academy-sounds fancy. And she's a
grown up. That tends to help too. I think she has a degree in directing as well. I love Alice.
Allright, I'm in an early morning haze so lets' see what I remember.
Ebony. Loved her makeup...the dress was okay. The bridesmaids looked hideous. HIDEOUS. Ram may have slipped her the tongue,
but I was to distracted by being creeped out by Ebony's "kiss Ram but stare at Jay like a freak" routine. That must
take some serious acting because if someone has their tongue in my mouth you can gaurantee i'm going to be focusing on that
and not the scenery.
The whole wedding was over the top cheese. I loved it. The too pink tulips, the silver wedding rings...the ugly ass dresses.
Damn. Good Times
Lex. Yes, he DOES need a strong woman. BUT, even though I am against the L/S ship, I know why Siva is leaving the technos.
Siva is/never was the dominant aggressive one. Either she shadowed her loud and strong sister Java or was caught in the middle
between Java and Siva as middle children are. She was Ram's favorite because she is servile. And Ram loves to be flattered
in this fashion. Ebony will interest Ram for a bit, as a challenge, but woe to her when he doesn't get his way. Punishment
ahoy. And I for one thinks Ebony will deserve it because she went into this KNOWING who he was.
Anyways, Lex is a taker and Siva a giver. It works out. Even when Siva gets tough (the fight in the ring) she rolls over
a few days later. She vents her anger or fear, but unlike Tai-San, doesn't get to the root of the problem, doesn't make clear
what it is exactly she wants or needs from Lex. Siva, because she has spent her life anticipating others' needs, feels that
all she has to do is express her emotions and others will anticipate what she needs and wants. This will not work in Lex's
case. She's in for a bumpy ride. Notice how she didn't tell Lex not to cheat ever again? Dumb boys like Lex need clear instruction.
Patch and Dee. Fine. I can't stand to watch Dee mooning over Lex. It pisses me off. As much as I love my slutty boy, I'm
annoyed that every new character wants to jump him. Enough already.
Pride. kellygirl and I disagree over the implications of this very strongly. We both think he might get addicted. However,
she thinks that this will humble Pride. I disagree. She's probably correct, but it makes no sense. Pride may be pompous, but
he has always warned about the dangers of technology and now, after a couple eps. dealing with is addiction, Pride will have
personal experience to back up his claims. A personal "I told you so." And since Pride was forced into the chair,
he'll be one of those "innocent victims" instead of "willing addicts." Ahh, the rhetoric of the war on
drugs. I wonder how The Tribe will handle it? Americans have a very different attitude towards drugs than the rest of the
world.
I feel bad for Pride, but I don't think this will humble him in any way. He might feel ashamed of himself, but I think
the cause and his ideals will only get more rigid. He will refuse to compromise now more than ever because of Fear. If this
plays out the way I am describing it will be fascinating to watch Pride's fear and righteousness collide with Jay's pragmatism,
confidence and most importantly, non-addiction. Wheee!
Other thoughts. I'm wondering if the Techno saga extends to two seasons, like the Chosen. Cause Ram is only getting more
powerful and more devious. Although he is getting physically weaker. Hmmm, what if Ram goes all Running Man on us? How will
they be able to exorcise his demon from the city without giving up all that he gave them through the technology he will live
in?

Well Salene got the fire extinguisher so he wasn't enticing/beating the fire for long. The shirt I hate is the long sleeve
strechy one,but that's just because it's ugly. It does how ever fit him quite snuggly so it's not all bad.
I watched my tape last night (after a wedding belive it or not). Highly amusing as usual.
I seriously hope Pride doesn't get addicted to virtual reality because it gives me flashbacks to Willow's magic addiction
on Buffy which stunk like a poo factory to quote my little brother. But with Chloe dying to go back in through the whole episode
they are definately pounding it in our brains.
Okay so reading shouldn't most kids be able to read? I mean they had some schooling before the virus. I'm not sure how
old these kids are supposed to be. (sorry newbie here) Maybe Ram was just asking to be sure since she(Salene) looked so confused.
The wedding was nice. But god the whole Ebony/Jay thing a Three's Company misconstrued-ness about it that just makes me
want to scream.

I agree with you on principle, but the way they made it look (and the way Monique acted it out) was like she offered Ram
a massage, he rebuffed her, and she had a snitfit. Somehow, I don't think the majority of the viewers of this show will be
as analytical about it as we will, though! Lex still needs a woman who will tie him up.
But there's already foreshadowing with Chloe - she took one VR trip and she's hanging onto Ved like a crack ho looking
for her next fix. And she didn't have nearly as strong a reaction as Pride did. I do know that it will be a long road to recovery,
I'm betting.
As for Ram's future, check out Tribeworld and sites like Radio Times and Tribal Digest for updates on what he's up to.

A majority of older kids can - Lex was near to illiterate, and they were inconsistent about portraying that. But many
of the younger ones can't read or read poorly.
I like Ebony and Jay, at least more then I like the idea of Amber and Jay. (edited for spoilers)
Btw, The Tribal Alliance now has their bboard up, and it's a great place to go for intelligent Tribe based discussions.
There's a little teenybopper gushing on it sure, as the bboard is for all ages, but there's a 'mature' section which includes

I hear ya. And I think this shows that Siva feels she no longer has a place in Ram's life. She throwing a fit because
she tried to give and Ram didn't take. So, what's a giver to do? Reform and try to become a whole person who depends on herself
for completion? Or, run back to Lex where she can replay her role as snitty doormat?
On the subject of dresses, it wasn't just the color of the dresses. The more I think about it, I am beginning to believe
that red is a fine color on the girls. It was the combo of red dresses and garish purple/berryish whore make-up with huge
ass flowers in their hair that pushed the outfits over the top. Too.Much.Blush. One girl on the beach in that outfit somewhere
in the Carribean? Fine. Two girls in those outfits in a field of tulips? Horrible.

I don't care what I have to do - I'm so there.
Also, I'm now feeling bad about everything I said about Pride because it was so sad to see him all messed up. But so good
to see his bare chest again. I think I've read far too many fairy tales because I kept thinking that Salene should kiss him
and that would bring him around.
And I don't understand why the non-Technos (I hate to call them virts) are so susceptible to reality space sickness. How
are the Technos able to go in there without the same kind off ill effects? Is this plan to scan all the kids in the city meant
to be some sort of weeding out process?
I wonder how long it'll take before Lex tries to give Siva the big brush-off? I think Ebony's right when she told him
he'd bitten off more than he could chew. But I do find it kind of unrealistic that Siva's supposed to be this fighting machine
and yet she seems so utterly helpless and frightened of everything.
And how stupid and gullible is Jay? What, the minute Ram promises a hospital suddenly all's right with the world? I figure
they're gonna need a hospital to care for all the kids with reality space sickness. Though, of course, the idea of the Technos
"taking care" of sick kids is a little absurd. I'm still rooting for Jay and Ebony to work out their misunderstanding.

They're both being enormously stupid. Ebony knows what Ram is capable of, she's even seen him screw with broadcasts using
Amber's image! And they're doing the "assumption" thing, which is absolutely ridiculous. You know, that thing where
the parties involved 'assume' that the other knows what they are talking about. It's inconsistent with both of their characters,
who are allegedly confrontational. They should be in each other's faces, and hitting each other with the clue by four, and
going after Ram with it after they're done bludgeoning each other.
Summarily, I think a nice, angry fuck is in order.
In other news, I still bet Lex enjoys being tied up.

I'm with kellygirl here. I was totally depressed to see Pride all messed up. It messed me up. I kept telling the completely
not interested hubby, "It's not fair! Why is the show punishing Pride! He's being punished for being right? For being
an idealist? This shoulda happened to Chloe! Chloe deserves this! She's cruisin' for it!"
I so wanted to see Jay put the smack down on his little brother and was extremely dissapointed when Jay backed down with
RAM. I'm sure Jay will defect like Siva did, but I have to tell you I'm pretty annoyed by the pacing of this. I feel that
the character would have been so outta there by this point.
Word to Scapebabe about Ebony/Jay. I'm not even for the ship, but I really felt these two kids needed to be themselves
and talk. What happened to the Ebony who schemed and plotted to get her man? I guess the flashback of her chat with Amber
must be some sort of sign for us telling us that Ebony has finally "learned" she can't compete with Amber? I don't
know if I believe this. It isn't unbelievable, but still...it's Ebony!
Poor, poor Stupid Siva. I love the Lex and Ebony scene, especially when both of them take their turns doing their nails.
Cracks me up. And Ebony is right, Lex can't handle it. Begin the catting around countdown! It's not that he'd be a bad caretaker,
I've seen him be fiercely protective, but I just don't think Siva has what it takes to hold his interest for long.
Huge thunderstorm and Siva is shivering in the cold alone. Actually, I think this was in character for Siva. Remember
RAM's punishment for Siva? The barn looks very familiar now doesn't it? And I think the barn was appropriately symbolic. Lex
met and saved Alice in that barn, but he also treated Alice like crap, intentionally and UNintentionally. The minute I saw
that barn, I knew, Lex/Siva days were numbered. Whoopee!
On the DragonCon front, I'm still cautiously optomistic about me going. I have grad school orientation Sept. 27th and
28th, but classes don't start till the 2nd. If I can get a summer job quick enough, I think I can make it.

I'm surprised that so far, only Raymond Thompson and Caleb Ross have confirmed, but that's cool. The hard part is not
saving up...the hard part is coming up with good questions to ask them...
So, if you could ask each cast member a question, or just Raymond Thompson and Caleb Ross, what would it be?
So far, I can think of really good intellectual questions for RT, but the ones for CR all seem to denigrate his masculinity
in some way ("So, how does it feel to be objectified while simultaeneously emasculated weekly on global t.v.?) and that's
not what I am aiming for. I plan to (with kellygirl's help) to "show" him Atlanta and introduce him to our American

all the adults and follows a girl and her neighborhood as all the children band together to protect themselves from other
meaner gangs.
Ask Caleb how his music is coming and if he plans to release his album in the States as well, so I won't have to go through
all those convoluted channels to obtain a copy like I did with the Tribe album when it came out.
Also, ask him if he wants my phone number. ;)

Speaking of books like the tribe has anyone read Tunnel in the Sky by Robert Heinlein(haven't read it in awhile so this
may be false.). The kids are sent to an adventure course which may or may not be in another dimension (read it awhile ago
so it's kinda fuzzy) and they get stuck and are forced to suvive. They build cities and get married. The ending is killer
[spoiler start] they get back and see their parents again, but time hasn't moved their
dimension. I always wish the tribe would end like that becuase in the book it was higly amusing to hear them trying to
explain to their parents.[spoiler end]

I haven't read a Tunnel in the Sky, but I have read "Girl who owns a City" (thanks regina welch!).
Umm, Wow. This book was really, really, really written during the Cold War and in reaction to the hippie mentality of
the 60's, damn.
Basically, instead of trying to have a democracy like our kids in the Tribe, Lisa establishes "Bill of Rights"
which is mostly like a code of law. She owns everything because it was her idea. The kids can come and go as they please but
they must work. She has final say on everything. In fact, she rarely let's other share in her decision making process. Unlike
Amber, who was bossy but at least let you think you were making your own choices (snerk, Lex, sheesh) and put everything to
a vote, Lisa spends her time holed up in a tower, lit only by one candle thinking up new ideas and plans for the school she's
taken over and made "home."
In fact, this book should be called "The Mary Sue Who Owned the City." Because Lisa rarely makes mistakes and
when she does it only vindicates the book's message. The author even includes a "parable" about a king who makes
everyone happy except his son because he was too easy on him. Plus I have a hard time believing a ten year old was capable
of all the things she did. I wasn't even in Algebra when I was ten and I went to a private school.
What I learned from this book: Charity is Bad! Work is the cure for Mental Trauma! Cult of Personality is Awesome! Individual
Property is Most Important!
While I might think that the iron fist is what in reality will work, I certainly don't want to spend my time reading about
it. Just cause I think Lord of the Flies is more practical, doesn't mean I don't want to believe that we could do better or
at least watch others strive for idealistic goals.
