I'm so annoyed with almost everyone on the show. The plot is thickening in the most contrived, half-ass way. Like most soaps, the twists are due to non-communication. I agree with everyone else, how hard is it to ask someone to take your baby out of the city? I can't believe Trudy, someone who risked the whole city on behalf of her baby, asks Amber if she imagined Mega's threat.

It's official. I hate Slade. His Mary-Sueness bugs the crap out of me. If I wasn't watching the show over at Kell's house I would have chucked something at the screen. As it was, I had to jump up and go into the kitchen because the "oh my gosh, I am the hottest, best fighter, most aloof, the sexiest, smartest gunslinger in the west" act was making me homocidal. And I don't want to kill my best friend, ya know? It's not Kellygirlygirl's fault she is the only other person in the room.

Lex, who had shown growth has gone back to his old ways for no reason. Sammy continues to be gross. God, I would gladly trade him for Mouse. Gel grates and Trudy? Oy, Trudy. Back to screeching harpy Trudy. And moany, whimpering Salene. It's like season one all over again. Ick.

The only person who has shown some semblance of growth has been Siva. I do think the actress, Monique Cassie, has gotten better. And the awkwardness between her and Caleb Ross is gone. They just have no chemistry whatsoever. It's boring. But, I guess you can't fake chemistry? Or maybe that's what an actor must do? In any case, Monique has gotten much better, but not that good!

I really wanted to see an Amber-Ebony partnership. It would be a tense temporary truce but those two actresses spark. But sending Ebs deeper into the badlands nixes that. And I would have been intrigued by a Ram/ ship of any kind. But as much as I like Ruby, her quick capitulation to the Lex/Ram duo made me angry with her. Ruby started out as a smart no nonsense business woman. But now, not even her strictest order, "no paradise", can be kept. She was against exploiting the refugees and now she takes half?! I don't care if it is to punish Lex, she's now buying into his system. And it's not like I'm against asking the refugees to pitch in with costs, I just don't get what happened to Ruby. The almight Slade Penis has turned her into a Pod Person. Watch out Ebony.

Ram still gets me percolated, but damn, he needs to go back to his virtual hair stat, cause the hair horns do nothing for me.

edited to add:

I was thinking that the Slade/Ebony ship could work very well. Slade woould give Ebony the room to rule and not feel the need to control her. He has no ties to the Mall Rats and is new to the City so he wouldn't have any Amber baggage to consider nor would he be attracted to a hero-type like Amber who does for the good of others. Slade is in it for himself and since Ebony is in it for her own power, they have that much in common. Also, apparently they are both into pain. They both like red and black. However, the downside is that Slade's aloofness might trigger Ebony's jealousy.

Oh and Kel? A good actor works with the pain. Kisses should be sexy, even if it hurts. No one wants to see an ugly kiss and I don't pay the cable people for ugliness.

I swear I started watching this show when I was still a teenager! I watched season 1 obsessively, but moved to the States during season 2 so my watching has since become intermittant, especially as I can't watch the Friday episodes so I tend to watch reruns (and get confused about who's gone and who's back!).

The excuse to my household is that I watch it because I'm homesick - they film it around my home city. In fact, the street they used over and over in the early eps was a small street at the back of my work's building!

I'm finally posting, because I managed to watch last week's episodes! I'm a little confused (whoever posted the Tribal Digest page, thank you) but I was happy to see that the two Mallrats Mega wants are Amber and Jack - they're my favourites too. Good taste.

Ruby started out as a smart no nonsense business woman. But now, not even her strictest order, "no paradise", can be kept. She was against exploiting the refugees and now she takes half?!

Even following this story through the recaps, that bugged me too. What, they can't have a chick who can stand up to Lex apart from Amber and Ebony?

Gel is definitely worse on screen than on paper, Sammy too. And Salene being moany and whimpery? Well, I always disliked Salene.

I've watched this show since S2, and I'm sorry I didn't find all of you earlier. This season sucks. Last season was ok, but the whole cast shake-up by having people taken was just plain lame. I miss the Chosen. At least they were fun to hate and made everyone around them have to act and react instead of just going through the motions.

Jay needs to be sacraficed to Mega in order to purge my tv of his "intense" brow furrow and to keep his shirt on until he gets a better chest.

Amber needs to stop whining about not wanting to run things and then acting pissy when other people take charge with an idea she doesn't like.

Gel and the whole Gel/Sammy thing...ew, just ew.

I actually like Ram these days and I'm glad we're not getting so much of Ebony who took over a bit too much last season.

I also want early Ruby back as she knew how to kick a guy's ass and run a community without drama. I do like the friendship between her and Siva. They look natural together when the bounce remarks and comments off each other, unlike some people *..Amber and anyone...cough* do when they actually have to talk to each other.

La la la, does anyone see the possibility of Ram/Ruby shippage?

If done well I'm in, otherwise please don't bother. The only problem is that once they get together and start getting along all of the time, I don't think I'll like them anymore. The whole sexual tension and love/hate thing is what would make this work.

Jay needs to be sacrificed to Mega in order to purge my tv of his "intense" brow furrow and to keep his shirt on until he gets a better chest. Thank you for reminding me what a good laugh I got out of that pointless scene of Jay doing sit-ups. The Tribe can always be counted on for delivering gratuitous male shirtlessness and for that I will love it forever.

Actually, I got a lot of laughs out of this weeks show - the sit-ups, the casino, and most of all the rescue of Ebony by Slade on his motorcycle. Pure comedic gold! And then there was Salene's injury. I could understand how she might've cut the back of her hand on the barbed wire but I swear to get cut where she did she would've had to purposely grab a barb. Ooh, and then there's the implication that May whored herself out for antibiotics!

I'm not feeling as much hate for this season as some of you seem to but I fear the same kind of rushed "and then we beat them" ending we got in Series 4. I think it's high time that the people in Liberty and the people in the City had more connection. I know Lex is always out for himself, but he might at least wonder how the Mallrats are doing. And did he ever actually talk to Ram about Tai-san or did that slip his mind too?

Still, even if the plot, acting, or writing is bad, I never cease to find something enjoyable on this show.

So what's the deal?

I mean last year we had tons of posts for a tiny thread.

And if everyone truly hated the show as much as I bitch about it, well then we would have more to post about.

But last week's eps. were good and I didn't hate anyone! Ok, I still hated Gary Sue, but I was entertained.

And this week, I finally got some real chemistry between Ebony and Slade. He didn't even annoy me as he usually does. I totally did not see Jack the City Punisher coming and I think it is really stupid to compromise on this issue. Amber destroyed her credibility for the good of the City, but Jack is going to far. Being the official torturer will destroy him.

And the alliance! It's awesome! I kinda wish though, that Ebony would reflect on what Jay said. I still think Ebony and Amber would be a good partnership, as long as it was short and temporary. But I fear that Slade will be the leader for all of about two seconds. As soon as the City is secure, he will give all the power to Ebony.

So why is it so quiet in these hear parts?

Sorry, I haven't been commenting on S5 very much. I'll try to rectify that in the future.

I haven't seen this week's eps yet, though, so the future is not now.

This week the big picture took a backseat to full-on soapiness for me. OMG - they're all such sluts! Okay not really, but I could not have gotten a bigger kick out of Jay walking in on some random guy leaving Ebony's bed. She and Slade really are two of a kind. And again I have to say, poor Ruby. What the hell happened to her spine? The way she pretends it's all just a bit of fun makes me so sad.

But then we have Lex, who although he propostioned May, did not take advantage of Gel. Even just last year he lived for that kind of hero worship and no matter how unbearably annoying she is, she's still pretty cute. I still could've died of embarrassment when Lex called himself 'Sexy Lexy' (cringing just typing it), but he seems to have turned a corner in the business of growing up.

Then we also have the pure soapiness of Jay daydreaming about Trudy and Amber. Oh, who will he choose? And has anyone ever called Trudy 'Moody Trudy' before? Not that it's not completely appropriate. I will say though, I really like this new top they have her in but the green-tinged hair, not so much.

I'm still trying to decide if I find this intense "special" friendship between May and Salene to be out of the blue. Really, Salene's been reaching out to her for a while and I think May's desperation for anyone to be truly kind to her combined with her guilt is amplifying any connection they might have.

And now there's the issue of Ruby wanting to have Slade's child! Why even bother introducing her to us as a smart, takes-no-sh*t kind of girl if she's going to turn out like this?

Is it necessary for Mega to raise his eyebrow after every 3rd sentence? There's an interview with Calen Maiava-Paris out there, in which he says that he once had a facial tick for weeks after having done that for another role. Why risk it again? Still enjoying his increasing evilness, though.

See, this made me want to run out of the room screaming. I don't understand the character assasination going on. I guess you have to have an equal number of no-nonsense women to insane, doormat women.

TOTALLY saw Siva's death coming a mile away. I even told Kell, "Oh, Siva is going to die." Much like the Joss school of plot, you make your character likeable and then kill them off. Of course, first you have to add some patheticness by having her run back to Lex. Ugh. Thank God Siva was killed so that we didn't have to run into baby stuff between Lex and Siva.

Ram and Java? Teh sexy. Even though I don't quite understand why he was so nice to her or why he knew that Java really loved him deep down. I was kinda hoping he would fall in love with her and be really sad when he killed her because he's Ram and kinda crazy after all.

Also? I don't believe for one second that deleting people was all Mega's idea. I really hope that this is addressed. Cause Ram? Has had nothing but good things happen to him. He's freakin' walking and soon he will go back to the city as a freakin' liberator. How is Ram's virtual torture different from Mega's maze?
