I managed to catch this week's episodes and was really glad for having done so.

I wasn't watching it for the longest time, simply because I'd seen a bunch of episodes when a friend made it down to Dragon*Con with bootlegs. I figured that I could then use my Friday nights to watch Joan of Arcadia instead.

I'd also started getting a bit burned out by the fandom - I've stopped being prolific on many of the posting boards, taking a break until the New Year, in the least.

But you know what? Watching the eps this week made me realize how much I enjoy the show again.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I really like Jack and Ellie's dynamic right now, especially with Ellie 'on top' of things, as it were. Jack's befuddlement is almost...dare I say it...amusingly girlish.

Wheee!

I love it when the show makes me yell at it! I was waving my fist in the air yelling, "punch him! punch him!" Because damn, that sexy look RAM gives Siva makes me thirst for that heady combo of sex and violence. *melts* Remember, Dreago has a thing for S/M and Ram.

Oh my God. I can't believe I just wrote that.

Ahem, Slade's incurable brain disease was really dissapointing. Kellygirl doesn't believe it, but if it is true, then that plot device has killed any lingering Slade love dead. He was already skating the Gary Sue pond and some terminal illness just makes it worse. I didn't see the kiss coming, although I do remember thinking,"Why is Ebony's lipstick all wonky?" Duh. I saw this ship coming from a mile away and it annoys me. Lex shouldn't be so astute about things. It smacks of predictability. I prefer smoldering chemistry and then mackage. Like when Amber gave Jay a hard on from her sick bed. Didn't see it coming and I loved it.

I like how the MallRats did a big May confrontation thing. That girl needed some tough love. But I'm confused how Mega knew. Did he always have protection on hand? Probably.

I'm sorry, but I cannot believe Salene. She's on my shit list. Is she still a drunk? Cause who leaves two bitty babies with Gel?!?! During a rebellion? Arrrgh. I hate that girl.

Oh and Ruby? Still on the Ruby train. And god help me, I am liking Siva. I don't even notice her acting. Either she is getting better or I am now numb to the suck. You know, one day I am going to meet this girl in person at a Con and feel ashamed of myself for saying such mean things about a nice girl.

Of course, first I would have to get over the fact I have actually admitted to my kinky Ram crush on the Internet....twice.

*facepalm*

Don't worry about it! Remember the Java/Ram/"Lex" in Paradise scene from Season 4? That kind of cemented it for me.

Nice to see the start of a friendship between Ruby and Siva. Did anyone believe that Jay would actually do anything to May? What Trudy said to Mega was true (even if he already is sorta running things), but I would have preferred that someone else said it.

Perhaps not, but *rowr* I like it. For once he didn't seem like a spineless flake. I'd love to see Jay go all psychotic and heartless.

Now before I say anything else, I have to get this out of my system. Eeeeee! Kiss! Kiss! I could analyze Ebony and Slade to death but, for me, it just comes down to the way they look at each other. Sizzling.

As dreago noted, I'm not buying Ram's story about Slade having a brain tumor or whatever. The thing is, and I don't know whether it's a specific acting or directing choice or just a coincidence, that I have a hard time buying anything that comes out of Ram's mouth because of that wheedling tone. He's that guy - the one who's all "Come on baby, you can trust me. You know I'd never do anything to hurt you" and the next thing you know you've lost your virginity and he's "borrowed" $500 and slept with your best friend. Still, that scene where Siva finally sees him was awesome.

I did enjoy the meeting between Ebony and Amber even if they didn't cover the Jay/Trudy issue. I was pleased that it wasn't made out to be some turning point in their relationship, they're still constantly sniping at each other.

We're now exactly halfway through the season and I admit that I'm still waiting to see how something that Beth Allen said at DragonCon 2003 plays out - she indicated that in this season baby Bray is used to manipulate her. And while she has repeatedly said that she was doing whatever for him, it doesn't yet feel like manipulation to me.

How sad is that?

Regarding what Beth Allen said at DragonCon, it really is coming up soon; I'm spoiled for the rest of the season.

People are going to throw tomatoes, but I didn't think that bite-kiss was all that sexy. I could tell that it was meant too, but Ebony, curling your lip, squinching your eyes together and baring your teeth is a touch too dog like.

Oh well.

I have a hard time separating the idea of the kiss being sexy from the reality. And honestly, I have a feeling that that face was the result of Meryl knowing she had to do it but not wanting to cause pain. I could have done without the two of them, especially Slade, continually touching their lips as they remembered their special moment. They've certainly done a bang-up job of making us think Slade likes it to hurt a little.

And speaking of Slade, dreago had her back to me so she couldn't see me doing the 'I was right' dance of Slade not having a brain tumor/disease. I'm still not clear on whether there's more going on than simply his Ebony fixation. And I haven't decided whether I think Ram is being completely upfront with Slade.

I also want to know how Slade, who doesn't live in the city, can be telling Ebony that Mega is setting her up as the enemy - that he wants war. And of course, now he's made it impossible for Amber and Ebony to have another secret meeting to figure out how to work together against him. If I were Amber, I'd either get someone else to take Bray out of the city or I'd keep trying to leave at the checkpoint but have other city leaders with me to show that I was basically a prisoner. And if the Mallrats are getting special rations, what's to stop them from sharing it to show that they are with the City not with Mega.

Good idea!

Honestly, there's not one character on the show that I'm rooting for, or even liking very much at all, this season. Well, maybe Ebony, because girl's gotta get her revenge, and Mouse, for escaping. Aren't they all going to have to go back to nature eventually?

Mega's "eating each other" quote is now one of my Series 5 favorites.

La la la, does anyone see the possibility of Ram/Ruby shippage?

That is all the capacity for thought I have today.
