He emigrated with his parents to the United States in 1921. They lived in New York City and he went to Manhattan College.
His father was an artist and he also developed a love of painting.
Dad worked hard to support the family. He fathered
6 children in this order: Peter, James, Sabina1(with the angels), Sabina, Katherine, Rita and Monica. Our grandmother lived
with us, too, and the apartment was crowded but happy. We lived in the Boulevard Gardens Apartments in Queens, NY. Mom went
back to school and was working toward her Bachelor's degree in Education at Hunter College, CUNY, when Dad suffered a massive
brain aneurysm. He died on May 10, 1965 when I was 11 years old.
