I was born Katherine Therese Vermeulen
in Queens NY on April 22, 1954, I attended Corpus Christi School and took the name Cecilia on my confirmation.
I graduated from Mater Christi High School in June of 1972 with an academic diploma and a Regents Scholarship.
I was inspired by my mother, Cecilia,
to become a teacher and majored in Special Education. It was a time when young people wanted to change the world
and I wanted to help severely handicapped people who had been hidden in institutions for decades.
I have a Bachelor's degree from State
University College at Buffalo, a Masters from Hunter College, CUNY, 60 post graduate credits from Teachers College, Columbia
and add on certification from East Carolina University.
I married Oscar Eatmon, Jr. on September
15, 2000. We lived on 1.21 acres of land on Big Branch Creek in Raleigh with a menagerie of 3 beagles, 2 cats
and 2 kittens. Oscar passed away from a massive brain aneurysm on May 16 2005.
