This is the way that I found the hull for my boat

I have a friend that has a steamboat and he helped me get my boat constructed. Don had the engine castings which he sold to me and he also got a lead on a hull for the boat, which you see in the above picture.

The hull is a lifeboat from the WW2 Liberty Ship, Simon Willard.

Here we are hooked to the boat and

ready for a weekend of steamboating

I have been working on this project since 2002. There was a lot of machining and welding to do. Machining the engine required about one year and completing the boiler took 4 months. Cleaning and painting the hull, building the trailer was another 6 mo.

The last two years was spent mostly just refining and correcting some problems that have cropped up.
