The following links lead to some of the places we've been and the romantic things we've done together. Try them out for yourself. We're sure you'll enjoy them as much as we did.
Alvin Ailey Dance Theater
The Alvin Ailey dance troupe is one of the most celebrated in the world. Be sure to catch their next performance when they're in town
so you can see why for yourself.
Akwaaba Mansion
Located in the heart of Brooklyn, Akwaaba Mansion is a bed and breakfast we definitely recommend to you. We had lovely
accommodations and good food (at the affiliated Akwaaba Cafe) thanks to innkeepers Monique Greenwood and Glenn Pogue.
Central Park
A springtime picnic in the grass, summer evening concerts, a wildlife center, an ice skating rink, a lake and so much more -
Central Park is a place for romance during any season of the year.
Highland Manor Bed & Breakfast
Nestled in the woods in Highland, New York is this cozy bed and breakfast that has a quaint charm. If you're looking for quiet and
peaceful getaway, Highland Manor is an ideal place to go. Friendly innkeepers Tim and Elise made our stay even more inviting.
Caesar's Pocono Resorts
Well, we finally made our way to Caesar's Pocono Resorts, Pocono Palace to be exact. And we had a great time. We stayed in the Fantasy
Apple room complete with heart shaped whirlpool, mini swimming pool, fireplace and round king sized bed. Since it's an all-inclusive resort
(minus liquor), we took advantage of several of the activites offered, like miniature golf, swimming, table tennis and a comedy show.
We also had a "couples massage" which was very relaxing. We're definitely looking to visit again.
Las Vegas
Intense dry heat, gambling, the Bellagio fountains, topless showgirls and buffets galore are a few of the things you'll find in this desert resort.
Bring a good pair of comfortable walking shoes if you plan to walk "The Strip."
Liberty Helicopters
A great place to go and take a scenic flight over the Hudson River with the one you love. Kristel surprised me by taking me
here for my birthday a few years ago. That was one of my biggest hints that I had quite a woman and that I would do well to not let her go.
The Lion King on Broadway
Phrases like "There are no words..." are tossed around a lot. It doesn't really mean much. But trust us when we tell you, there are no words
to describe the experience of seeing this Broadway musical.
Mars 2112 Restaurant
If you're a Sci-Fi fan, you'll love Mars 2112 Restaurant. Cuddle with your honey by the red colored rocks,
enjoy a cyber cocktail or galactic entree and take a photo with your favorite Martian.
Medieval Times
Sunday, July 16, 2000 was my 30th birthday. Yes, I'm okay with it and no, shaving my head had nothing to do with all the
gray hairs that have been popping up. Kristel decided to surprise me by taking me to Medieval Times for a party
and inviting many of my closest friends, some of whom I hadn't seen in years. As the name implies, you'll be taken back
to the medieval times of the 11th century. As a visiting "lord" or "lady" you've been invited to the castle of King
Alphonso and Queen Inez to celebrate a recent victory. You'll see a trained falcon, equestrian displays and noble knights
who will compete in tournaments for their honour and yours. Definitely a fun afternoon for you and your loved one.
Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is the premiere art museum in New York City. Their extensive collection includes everything
from Greek art to Egyptian to Medieval to African. Spend an afternoon there and you'll only have seen a fraction of what it has to offer.
Be sure to check out the Temple of Dendur - an actual Egyptian temple painstakingly reassembled from the banks of the Nile River.
Pennsylvania Dutch Country
We decided to take a weekend trip to Pennsylvania Dutch country in August of 1998. It was a refreshing change of pace from the hustle and bustle
of New York City.
Peter Luger's Steakhouse
If you like chicken or turkey - you're pretty much outta luck. But if you're in the mood for a delicious steak, grab your
honey, sit back and loosen your belt.
Princess Cruises
Kevin wanted to go on a cruise to Alaska, I wanted to go on a cruise to the Western
Caribbean. Guess where we ended up? :)
Anyway, we had a great time celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary on the Star Princess. Sailing to Cozumel, Mexico;
Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Princess Cays in the Bahamas was a fabulous way to enjoy the Western Caribbean and each other!
We're looking to do it again.
Rivendell Winery
Located in New Paltz, New York, Rivendell Winery is a cool place to visit if you're a dedicated oenophile. Well, we're novices
when it comes to wine but we certainly indulged ourselves during a wine tasting. We even brought back a few bottles that we'll keep
on reserve for a future romantic evening. :)
Sandals Royal Bahamian
This beautiful, all-inclusive resort is where we stayed for our honeymoon. We had a great time lounging by the pool (and the swim up bar),
jet skiing, relaxing in the jacuzzi, being pampered in the spa, socializing in the lounge, sampling the various cuisines in their
on-site restaurants and hanging out by the beach at sunset. It's a wonderful place for romance - newlyweds or not!
Sweet Honey in the Rock
In April 2000, we saw a wonderful African-American, female a capella ensemble at Carnegie Hall called Sweet Honey in the Rock.
Their style incorporates a variety of musical genres - gospel, blues, folk and jazz combined with traditional African rhythms to
entertain, uplift and inspire you.
Tavern on the Green restaurant
Gourmet food and rich desserts in a glass enclosed restaurant in Central Park - what could be more romantic than that?
U.S. Hot Air Balloon Team
We decided to get bold and go on a hot air balloon ride during our PA Dutch country stay. As the sun rose, we were there to meet it
as we floated lazily over the Lancaster County countryside.
