NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR THE SOCIAL STUDIES NCSS is the major professional organization for the teaching of Social Studies. Social Studies teachers who are not members should take some time to explore the benefits of membership, and the resources available both members and non-members.
MARYLAND COUNCIL FOR THE SOCIAL STUDIES Maryland chapter of NCSS. Sponsors conferences and training within the state. The 1999 Fall conference is on October 22 at Montgomery Blair High School, and is entitled "Time Tunnel to the Millenium." There ill be over 20 session, during four different time slots. I always find it a worthwhile day.
ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN HISTORIANS The OAH site provides history teaching units, lists of web sites, etc.
