The KB0THQ repeater is located about 25 miles east of Kansas City, MO.  It operates on an output frequency of 444.275 Mhz and outputs a PL tone of 123.0 .  It's input frequency is 449.275 Mhz and is protected with a PL tone of 123.0 .  It is operated as an open repeater by the Patrick Henry Radio Relay League.

OK, I get this question alot...  "What is a repeater?"
A repeater is a radio transmitter/reciever that recieves on one frequency and re-transmits what it recieves on another frequency.  They are located on hilltops, mountains or towers to gain the advantage of height.  A station transmits over the input frequency, and the repeater re-transmits that station's transmissions over it's output frequency.  They allow communications over ranges and terrain that would otherwise be impossible.

This is the coverage area of the 444.275+ repeater, located near Grain Valley, MO.  You should be able to access the repeater with a handie-talkie from inside the Red Zone.  A good mobile station should make contact with the repeater from inside the Blue Zone.  To access the repeater from inside the Black Zone, you will probably need to operate from a fixed station.

It is possible to work the machine from greater distances, depending on conditions and station gain.
