However, the Magic Emperor appears unable to do so, for he soon sags to the ground and the staff rolls limply from his grasp. After his last dying gurgle, there is only silence. Valina: ... Earendil quickly casts a Blue Dragon Heal. Kadan: ... Kadan softly kneels down and tries to pick up the Serpent Staff. GMRune: The party is restored to full hp. Valina breaths... GMRune: As Kadan bends over, a voice resounds in the party's mind. It is the Lady Mileria. Mileria: Wait! You must not touch that! Ayeye: Is it over... Rein sighs and leans on his staff. Earendil: Then what must we do? Kadan turns his head around. Kadan: Hmm? Kadan stands up. "Oh. Lady Mileria..." Mileria: Something is wrong. Vane will not rise nor will the skies fall. There is still something blocking Althena's power! Earendil: Nissa? Ayeye: What? Tarrant: Who is blocking it? Ayeye: Oh... Earendil pops in 5 of his Silverlights Kadan: But if Kargeth is... GMRune: A mirthless laugh fills the chamber at Earendil's utterance. It echoes throughout the walls of the chamber and swirls through your midst like a chill wind. Mileria: I am afraid you are right, Earendil... Rein draws himself upp off his staff and looks futilely around the rooms for the source of the laughter GMRune: An oppresive presence fills the chamber, almost strong enough to crush you to the ground though you see nothing, nothing at all. There is no movement anywhere, and yet you feel something towering over you. Valina clings to Earendil. Ayeye takes a step back nervously. "Err... Hi?" GMRune: Earendil gains 400 mp. Ayeye: I don't suppose you will listen to reason? Kadan stands attentively and lays his hands on his weapon. Tarrant: I think we are well past reason! Rein: Uh, guys... who's got the staff... Ayeye looks slightly downfallen. "Oh..." Earendil: At least show yourself! GMRune: Kargeth's body convulses as though punched and beaten. It rises slowly, twisting itself and shuddering. The limbs grow long and slender, and the torso tall and majestic. Kargeth's armor melts away and his features change to become that of a younger man. The Magic Emperor's hair shifts from black to red and fall in long lengths to the floor. Valina: Earendil... I'm scared. Valina: Ahhh... Earendil holds Valina tightly. Geint blinks widely. Kadan takes a step back. "What the..." GMRune: The man who stands before you now is over seven feet in height, and impossibly slender. His eyes are hard and unforgiving. He raises his hand and the Serpent Staff comes to him. Earendil stands firm. "Quite an entrance." Geint: Uhhhh.. Tarrant winces at the sight of the beast. Nissa smiles cruelly. "There can be no creation without the destruction of the old. My world died for Althena's, and now Lunar's turn has come to bear its blood for the birth of my new world!" Rein plants his sceptre before him and glares at "Kargeth". Valina: Ggreeeeaaaaatttt... Arzel steps back slowly, and draws his hood to cover his head. Geint closes her eyes tightly. "No... no... this can't happen again..." Earendil: What Althena did was a mistake, but we will not let you destroy this world. Two wrongs will not make a right. Nissa: Do they? And how are mortals to tell a *god* what is right? You owe your lives to your goddess, just as my people owe me theirs. Your right is not ours. Kadan: Bringing pain and suffering to the people of this world will accomplish nothing. Don't you have the wisdom to see that continuing the cycle of bitterness will eventually cause the inhabitants of this world to bring death and despair to yours? Earendil: Are we just pawns for you then? Nissa sneers. "My world is *nothing* but death and despair! I have suffered through its destruction every bit as much as my children, and I will not allow them to suffer any longer! This world, this thieving land you call home, must pay in blood for our pain!" Nissa: I have no reason to explain myself to insects such as yourselves. You talk, but have you the feeling you believe you do? Geint closes opens her eyes slightly, tears slightly in her eyes. "P..please! Didn't you see your own nightmare..? His own words...?" Nissa raises the Serpent Staff and it emits a red light in his hands. GMRune: -----round 1------ Ayeye: I am sorry... I wish it were not this way... GMRune: target: Nissa Earendil: And so you would destroy the world that the remnants of your children have fled too? You would destroy everybody? Geint shakes her head and sniffles. "...No more... not again..." Ayeye shakes her head. "Must you commit the same crime..." Geint prepares for whatever is before her. Tarrant: Hey the good guys always win, and your definately not good. Nissa's glares down at Earendil, his eyes turning into two points of burning light. "I will destroy, and begin again. I will try to protect what is left of my people, but if they cannot be saved so be it." Rein prepares a casting. "Nissa... you know we are naught but our Goddess' hands." Kadan holds his poleaxe to one side and closes his eyes, gripping the sides of his dark mask. Earendil: Unfortunately, I cannot allow that to happen. GMRune: Ayeye casts Shining Light! A brilliant yellow glow surrounds every member of the party. All stats up by 227! Kadan: ...! GMRune: Rein casts Bright Aura on the front row. Everyone is at full hp. Rein tosses out one big sparklie, which sits over the front row and gives off little sparklie now and then. GMRune: Nissa lifts his hands and casts Cosmic Storm! The air in the room warps to a peculiar shade of pink and purple as asteroids strike the party! Geint braces herself, tears still in her eyes. Ayeye attempts to hide behind Kadan for protection. GMRune: Ayeye is struck for 244 damage! Rein is struck for 380 damage! Earendil is struck for 546 damage! Valina is struck for 589 damage! Kadan is struck for 912 damage! A powerful roar punctures the air as an ethereal image of Shade leaps before Earendil. An image of Quark overlays her, then Canth, and then finally Geint. The four images roar and fire streams of lightning, acid, fire, and ice at Nissa! GMRune: 1676 damage! GMRune: Valina uses Kotestu Slice! Her Hit% goes up 129! GMRune: Kadan casts Ancestral Call! GMRune: 1316 damage! GMRune: Arzel casts Phoenix Fire! He is surrounded in flames before emerging in his new form with the bright featehred plumage of a phoenix! Arzel gains alignment with fire, 203 to Wisdom, and 185 to MgE. GMRune: Tarrant casts Pegasus Wind! An ethereal forest springs up around the chamber, bathing it in the scents of the woodlands. Ghostly pegasi flutter by and sweep through the tall form of Nissa! GMRune: 2343 damage! GMRune: ------round 2------ GMRune: Ayeye casts Ice Spear! A great shard of ice appears above her head and she hurls it at Nissa! GMRune: 357 damage! GMRune: Rein casts Rest Litany over the party. Everyone gains 426 hp or goes to max. GMRune: Kadan uses Shapeshift! He changes to his pnather form. GMRune: Valina uses a Silverlight on Tarrant! Tarrant gains 80 mp! Tarrant winks at Valina. A shadowed figure appears beside him. Tarrant: I hope that isn't who I think it is. GMRune: Tarrant casts Pegasus Wind! A forest springs up, welling with transculent pegasi which charge through Nissa upon spotting him. Geint uhhs... GMRune: 2684 damage! GMRune: ------round 3------- GMRune: The shadow falls away from the figure to reveal... Damon. Geint blinks. GMRune: Damon appears as you had last seen him, and his robes are bloody from the injuries you have left behind. Rein briefly wonders if he should have cast Chaos Call *twice*, before getting back to the healing. Geint bites her bottom lip and narrows her eyes. ".....Yes. I can't let this nonsense happen like this again." GMRune: Ayeye casts Ice Soul! Ayeye is aligned with ice! GMRune: Rein casts Rest Litany on the party! Everyone goes to max hp! It knifes through Tarrant, leaving a wound so narrow and thin it is almost invisible, save the blood that arises from it. Ayeye gets up and is amazed at how little the acid affected her. GMRune: 488 damage! GMRune: Nissa casts Recall! A shadowed figure appears beside him. GMRune: Earendil uses an Herb of Althena! The entire party is restored to full hp! GMRune: Valina uses Power Strike on Nissa! She leaps high into the air and as she brings the Wind Sabre down her form begins to shimmer with an incadescent light. Bright lavender sparks trail from her sword and then she finally strikes the mad god, Nissa. GMRune: 627 damage! GMRune: Nissa shrieks with rage as his corporeal body begins to dissolve... GMRune: -----victory!----- Kadan: ...! Valina: *Yea* Valina jumps up and down! Tarrant: Yeahhh... GMRune: The shades Nissa had summoned vanish, and the god stumbles, the Staff fallening from his grasp. Nissa: No... I can't allow you... to survive...! Arzel breaths a sigh of relief and adjusts his hood which was dislodged during the fighting. Valina: Too late! I just killed you, Nissa. ^_^ Geint looks down. Ayeye: Sorry... Geint: Nissa... we couldn't let this happen again... please... understand.... Valina stands next to Earendil! Nissa weakly raises one of his immaculate hands and begins to cast a final spell. He points a finger to Valina. "At least I will avenge myself..." Rein: Watch out.. he could still be dangerous... Earendil: We are not the weak pawns that we seem to be, are we? Earendil: NO! Earendil jumps out in front of Valina Valina: Ear! Geint's eyes widen. GMRune: Nissa casts a final Dark Sickle, this one larger and more deadly than all the others, and it slams straight towards Valina, and then into Earendil! Valina is frozen! Kadan stands ready. "Whu...!" Valina: O_O Geint: What is--! Valina: EARENDIL! Arzel gasps quietly. GMRune: Earendil's right arm is cleaved straight from his body and then he collapses to the ground. Earendil: ARRRRGGH! GMRune: Nissa dissolves into nothingness. Ayeye stares in shock. Geint frowns. Valina: EARENDIL!!! Kadan grabs his poleaxe and lunges at the remains of Nissa. Valina holds on to Earendil tightly! Tarrant tears his rope and puts pressure on the wound. GMRune: All around you, the skies start to rumble and the first drops of rain begin to fall. GMRune: -------end session------
