Lunar: Magic Empire Session 89 Log ============================================================ Cast of Characters: Rune as "GM/Narrator, Mileria, Par, Clerk, T'lain, and ~Geint" Seath as "Earendil" GORN as "Rein" Hahn as "Kadan" Aes as "Valina" Mia Ausa as "Geint" SOLaike as "Tarrant" Dyne as "Arzel" Ayeye as "Ayeye" ============================================================ GMRune: -----game on----- GMRune: In answer to Rein's question about the trench dug around Vane, Mileria has responded: "Almost. For you see, those lines are where Vane will break from the earth and sail into the sky. Kadan: Will that really allow the city to escape from the Empire? Rein: The sky... like... Rein vaguely motions upwards. Ayeye: How will it stay up? Ayeye: I mean... well... cities are a bit heavy, aren't they? Mileria inclines her head. "You see many elves around Vane, they are all of us in all of Lunar. We will combine our power to tap into the Goddess's magic. Together we will forcefully lift Vane into the sky so that it will be able to escape the holy flood. It is our belief the magic will last... forever." Rein: Even after the casters... pass on? Ayeye: Oh... impressive... forever is a long time though. Mileria says softly, "Yes, even if they do." Mileria: Anyone not in Vane when Althena's tears fall from the sky will forever lose the ability to cast magic. It is drastic, but the only way to truly neutralize the threat of the Magic Empire and the Urdians. Kadan: Althena's motives confuse me. All of her services for life inevitably spell death for others. Rein: By Althena's tears... so this is the Goddess' plan? Ayeye sighs, "I agree Kadan, it is just making things worse... She should be trying to repair the damage... Not cause more." Mileria: Yes. She wishes to take back the magic used to give birth to Lunar. Truthfully this land does not need it so much as it did before, and now it causes more harm than it cures. Mileria turns to Kadan. "Sadly, we cannot question the Goddess's ways. Those of us here in Vane are here because we wish to make the best of what we have, no matter how little that may be." Rein: Won't the the "tears" fall upon Vane, even if it's in the air? Kadan: Most likely, Rein, but at least the island won't be caught in the accumulations below. Rein: Ah, of course... Kadan shrugs. "A little water never harmed anyone." Ayeye: What do you want us to do? Mileria: They will, once the skies are free from the power Kargeth has over them. But the rain is just a drop of power and will take so very little from us. It is the flood that will prove to be the end for the warlocks. Kadan scratches his head. "What would the holy flood do to cities on the ground? To Killith...?" Mileria listens to Ayeye and sighs. "Quark has told me that Kargeth is holed himself up in Killith with the Serpent Staff. It will be only a matter of time before he has Nissa's attention. What will happen then I dread to think." Mileria: The skies will not heed Althena until Kargeth is defeated. It is only after that can her plans truly take affect. Ayeye: I understand... even if I do not like it... it just does not seem fair. Par has a solemn, hollow look to him. "You have no idea." Mileria silences him with a disciplined look. Ayeye looks at Par curiously. "What do you mean?" Par glances from Ayeye to Mileria and back again. "Althena works for the greater good. That is why all these sacrifices have been made by you and others. But... the greatest sacrifice is yet to come." Ayeye: Greater sacrifice... Ayeye: I... greater than what has already been lost... Rein swallows uncomfortably. Par: I'm afraid I can't say any more than that. Ayeye: Why not? Mileria makes a flat motion with her hand. "Because you would attempt to talk those who are involved out of it. You have given enough, and you have your own parts to play elsewhere." Ayeye: So it involves Par... Ayeye looks questioningly at Par. Par purposely avoids Ayeye's gaze. Kadan squints curiously. Ayeye nods. "I... Par?" Par: It's not just me, Ayeye. That's why I can't say more. It would be too much otherwise. Rein murmurs, "The elves..." then falls silent. Ayeye walks up to Par. "Is it really worth it?" Arzel murmers quietly to himself from beneath his hood, partly upset with the whole conversation. Par looks away and says nothing. Kadan: This is going to get more complicated. There's too many strings being pulled here. Mileria: That is unfortunately so. Ayeye: There is no other way... Mileria sighs. "I know this has been a lot to digest. Perhaps you would like to rest here for the night? The shops in Vane are still open so I imagine you could resupply yourselves if you need to." Ayeye slumps her shoulders. "I...I guess so..." Ayeye looks back at Par sadly. Rein nods, ready for some rest. Par half-heartedly attempts to smile encouragingly. "Don't worry about me, Ayeye. Assuming you're going to Killith you'll be in much more danger than I." Ayeye shakes her head. "I will miss you..." Par pauses, uncertain of himself or what to say. "All I can say is thank you for coming with me when I first found you, all of you, in Shelladon. We have come so far since then." Kadan: Goodness knows none of this turned out the way I was expecting, though it may end up that way with any luck. GMRune: There are stairs leading up to the upper floors. The party is free to take them up whenever they would like to rest. Rein: Thank you for everything since then, Par. Kadan holds his arm. "I do feel a little worn out. Maybe we should sleep on this before judging Mileria." Par nods. "You are welcome." Ayeye smiles weakly at Par. "Yes, thank you." Ayeye sighs and heads toward the stairs. Rein heads wearily for the stairs. Kadan: I suppose this journey has been as much experience for you as it has for us, Par. If I remember, you were a little wet behind the ears at the Shelladon resistance. Par: In a way. I had never told you, but I had participated in the battle with the warlocks who destroyed the Mage Knights almost three years ago. Some of those Knights died because I killed them. Par: That was the battle that won me my warlock status. Par's voice is quite bitter. Kadan: ... That would probably mean more to Earendil than to me. I suppose we were each fighting the war in our own way. Par nods. "But now it will end. It has to." GMRune: The party members that went up the stairs manage to find guest rooms based off of memories of their last visit to the Silver Spire. Arzel wanders upstairs to find a bed or place to sleep. Kadan heads upstairs. GMRune: The party crashes for the evening and dozes into the next day. All hp/mp recovered. GMRune: The morning sun begins to shine annoying on the players' eyes as if to prod them awake. Ayeye rolls over to try to avoid the light but only succeeds in falling onto the floor. "Ah!" Ayeye stands up holding her head. "Ouch..." Rein wakes up and dresses, lost in thought. The bush rustles pleasantly to Ayeye. Earendil gets up and looks out the window. Ayeye sits on the edge of the bed and picks up the bush. "It is almost over... but I do not like the ending..." Ayeye rests for a moment before grabbing her stuff and heading out of the room, still holding the bush. The bush shudders with something resembling understanding. It nudges Ayeye reassuringly. Kadan stretches and squints at the sunlight. GMRune: Outside the window the previously quaint town of Vane is bustling with activity. Rein is ready to go. Kadan gets ready and leaves his quarters to find Ayeye. Earendil moves away from the window and walks into the hall. Ayeye smiles at Kadan. "Hello..." Kadan rubs his eyes. "Morning... sleep okay?" Arzel wanders out to find everyone else. Ayeye: Yes... more or less... Rein remembers to put on his Goddess Circlet (necklace?) and takes up his holy sceptre. Ayeye looks at the party members. "Off we go, I guess..." Kadan nods. Ayeye starts to take a step. "Err... where, exactly, would we be going?" Earendil: Let's go fill up our supplies. Kadan: I think we should find out Earendil's plan. I'd also like to talk to Par if we see him around. Earendil heads for the items shop. Ayeye walks along side Kadan. "You do not like it either, do you?" Kadan: All my life, Kate taught me how to fight for myself. I'm just not very used to fighting for other people's causes. GMRune: The party heads down the stairs and out of the Silver Spire. The streets below in Vane are crowded by both human and non denizens of Lunar. GMRune: Earendil leads the party into the Item Shop. Kadan: People didn't fight for my cause when I was younger, but perhaps now I can change that... Clerk: Hello. Can I help you? Ayeye: Perhaps... Earendil: What kinds of supplies do you have? The clerk pulls up a inventory list for you. GMRune: Calm Herb Heal 250 HP 200 S GMRune: Herb of Althena Heal All HP, All Party 400 S GMRune: Laurel Leaf Heal 120 HP 90 S GMRune: Seed of Vigor Heal All MP 500 S GMRune: Silverlight Heal 80 MP 100 S Earendil: Um, how about a discount for the Dragonmaster of Althena? The clerk squints and looks at Earendil. "How am I supposed to know you're a Dragonmaster?" Ayeye smirks. "Unfortunately, it is true." Earendil: Would you like me to use the power of the Black Dragon on you to prove it? Earendil: Besides, look at my armor and sword! The clerk shrugs. "Maybe. Look, I've got to make a living here. And if you don't want to pay I'm afraid you'll have to go somewhere. Besides, if you're really the Dragomaster, I'd like to think you wouldn't try squeezing a poor man out of his earnings." Kadan nudges Earendil. "Yeah, what kind of example are you trying to set for young aspiring Dragonmasters?" Earendil whispers to Kadan, "That we know a little of economics as well as swordsmanship." Earendil: Fine, we'll pay your prices, highway robbery that they are. Ayeye: Sore loser, Earendil? The clerk shrugs indifferently. Earendil whispers under his breath, "I just may forget to protect this place when the warlocks come." Ayeye sighs, "Could you hurry up, we sort of have a full day." Kadan purchases one Calm Herb and one Silverlight. Earendil: Give me an Herb of Althena. Ayeye declines to purchase anything. GMRune: Kadan gets a Calm Herb and a Silverlight. Earendil gets an Herb of Althena. Rein: I'll take 3 Silverlights, please. GMRune: Rein gets three Silverlights. Earendil puts a Silver Armor, Knight Sword, Ice Ring, Ceramic Shield and Ceramic Helmet on the counter, "How about giving me 2 or 3 silverlights for all of this?" Clerk: Just give me a moment... Clerk: That's 208 S. Here are your two Silverlights and 8 S change. Earendil: Thanks. Earendil hands the money bag to Kadan. "Here, you can spend what's left." Kadan: I don't need anything. Earendil: Then spend it as you see fit for the rest of us. Kadan shakes his head. "This really isn't my responsibility. I make decisions for myself. Why not give it to Ayeye?" Earendil: Ayeye? Ayeye: Err... me? Why me? What about Rein? Earendil: Just take it! Earendil shoves the money into Ayeye's hands and walks out of the shop. Ayeye shakes her head rapidly. "Nonononono!" Ayeye: Err... Ayeye tosses it to Rein. "Catch!" Rein grabs and pockets the money. Rein: Naw... just kidding... I'll take 12 Silverlights and 2 Herbs of Althena. Clerk: Hm... all right. Clerk: Here you go. Rein gives one Herb o' Althena to Val, and one to Ayeye. He hands out the silverlights evenly among everyone else. Ayeye takes the herb. "Thanks..." Rein: If I can't keep up with the healing, you can help me out with this... Ayeye sighs and puts the Lightning Claws up for sale. Kadan lays down the Granite Shield, Silent Mail, Great Axe, Silver Bow, and Bane's Sword. "What will you give me for these things?" The clerk buys it for 51 S. Clerk looks at Kadan. "Just a moment..." Rein cashes in his Arc Bow, Headband, Iron Bracer, Light Chain, and Silver Armor. Clerk: Here's your 373 S. The clerk then proceeds to catalogue Rein's stuff. Kadan: Thanks... The clerk gives Rein 146 S for his items. Kadan: If we can afford another one of those magical seeds, I think Ayeye should hold onto it. Should the need arise, she can administer it more quickly than any of us. Arzel offers his jewel fillet and amber robe to the clerk. "How much can I get for these?" Arzel pops off his lion claws also. "These too." Clerk: Here's your 206 S. Arzel wonders if he can grab another seed of vigor. Rein adds the 206 to the bin. GMRune: The party buys a Seed of Vigor and it is given to Ayeye. Kadan kindly places the Seed of Vigor in Ayeye's pack. Clerk: Would you like anything else? Kadan checks his equipment. "I feel ready." Ayeye: I think we are done. Clerk: All right. I thank you for your business. GMRune: Outside the shop, Earendil sees someone approaching him. Earendil squints at the figure approaching him. "T'lain, is that you?" GMRune: Outside of the shop the party hears Earendil greeting someone. Kadan exits the shop to see who Earendil is talking to. T'lain nods. "Why, yes, it is. It's good to see you looking hale and ready. Lady Mileria called me here for the great event she says Althena has in mind." Ayeye follows Kadan out. T'lain: I brought you sister and Liana with me and they're now resting with some of the elves. I also brought the group of you a gift to aid you in your fight against Kargeth. Kadan: Eleanor and Liana... Earendil: Are they doing better? T'lain: Liana is having an awful time of it. I haven't told her that Par's around yet. He doesn't want her to know. As for Elanor, she's coming along fine. She believes in you, Earendil. I think she'll be pleased to know you're now Dragonmaster. T'lain opens a pouch at his side and removes three blue vials. "These are for you. I call them Angel Tears. They are something I have only recently discovered how to make and I only have these three to give you. When you use a vial on the dying you will restore them to fighting condition." Ayeye: Ohh, pretty! Kadan looks at the vials curiously. "What sort of liquid are they made from?" Earendil receives the vials from T'lain. "I thank you." T'lain: The breath of mountains and other such things. T'lain: You're welcome. T'lain: The dragons are waiting outside of Vane. They want to fly you Killith. Quark says Kargeth had erected some sort of shield over the city so there is no way for you to teleport inside. Kadan: As long as he knows we're coming, me might as well come like we mean it. Earendil give the vials to Geint. "I think you should have these. Your actions are faster than mine in battle." ~Geint accepts the vials. Earendil: Thank you, T'lain. Tell Elanor I will be back as soon as I can. Kadan claps his palms together, the sound dulled by his thick, worn gloves. "Well, now we leave for the battle that history will judge us by." T'lain nods. "All right. I'll let her know." Earendil heads for the outskirts of Vane. Kadan walks alongside Earendil. Ayeye bounds after them. Rein follows. GMRune: The party heads out of Vane, but their passing does not go unnoticed. Far above, in the Silver Spire, a figure watches them. She bows her head as they leave and others around her begin their preparations. Plans that will forever change the face of Lunar... set into motion. GMRune: -----end session-----
