Tarrant: Great job Earendil! Earendil looks to the Dragon Angels. Thought inclines his head to Earendil. "Congratulations, young one. You are truly worthy of the title Dragonmaster." Kadan nods to Earendil. Rein bows his head respectfully. Earendil: I promise to use the power of the dragons and Althena to defeat the empire. Geint yays! Memory gestures to the gold-hilted sword standing in the marble stone between them. "Then step forth, Dragonmaster Earendil, chosen one of Magintna. Take the sword of your destiny." Earendil steps up to the sword. "I swear, on my parents' souls, that I will destroy Kargeth." Earendil pulls out the sword and holds it high. GMRune: The Sword of Althena shines brightly like a small sun above him. Earendil learns his final spell as Dragonmaster: Dragon Dream! Earendil sheaths the holy sword and walks back to the group, looking a little bit more proud than before. Geint: Good job, Earendil! Earendil: Thank you, in fact thank all of you. Without your help, I would've never been able to get this far. Earendil: And yes, Ayeye, I'm even grateful for having you around. Kadan: You are a strong man, Earendil. Rein: I'm sure you'll make a great Dragonmaster, Earendil. Earendil: My strength, in part, comes from all of you. Earendil: Never before have I been surround by such a group, even the knights of Shelladon could not compare. Ayeye blushes a little bit. "Me?" Earendil puts his hand on Ayeye's shoulder. "Our *discussions* have urged me to continue fighting, and I admire your strength in your beliefs." Trevor watches the group, saying nothing and looking extremely solemn and contrasting to the time you saw him as Quark. Ayeye blushes a bit more. "Err...thank you..." Tarrant: Enough with all of this mushy stuff... We have a job to do. Kadan: Right. Earendil: You are right Tarrant, now we have all the pieces. Trevor steps forward. "If you will allow me, the Goddess Althena has left arms to aid you in your fight. I believe that with these your equipment will be complete." Earendil looks to Quark and the angels. "What of the goddess? Is there no way that we may speak to her?" Thought: She is coming... even now. Memory: Canth and Shade are bringing her with them. GMRune: The color of the tower begins to turn a healthy color, losing the sickly yellow aura it once had. There is a window in one of the walls that you may use to see outside. Trevor looks at the party. "The Dragonmaster and the Urdian descendant among you have full sets of arms now. But I will provide you with the rest as per Althena's orders. The first item..." He gestures and a long handled axe appears in his hands. "... is the Star Halberd, taken from the very night sky itself to serve as the weapon for the Shadowcat." Trevor offers it to Kadan. Kadan: Thank you... Kadan takes the special weapon. Kadan: This is beautiful. I will try to use it to the utmost effectiveness. Trevor: I am certain you will. Trevor walks over to Rein next. "For you, young priest, Althena has left you the Goddess Circlet. If you wear it you will be protected by her healing light, and it will close the wounds you receive in battle." Trevor offers Rein a golden circlet. Rein takes it reverently. Rein: Thank you Master Tre... err... sir. Trevor smiles. "There is no need to stutter. You're a good student of Mendren, and he *was* a good friend of mine." Rein nods. Trevor next approaches Geint. He relaxes. "Hey, Magintna. I know you didn't feel too good about loosing your human form, but don't you worry. I'll let you keep it after all this is said and done. For you I have a Flame Aura. Think of it as an enchantment. And, it will allow you to take your full dragon form just *twice* until you're full grown, okay? You'll need it when we get ready to attack Kargeth." Geint nods a little bit. Geint quietly manages an "Okay." Trevor pats Geint on the head. "All right." A fiery red glow appears in his hand and he places it beside Geint. "Just touch it to equip it. It will work like any other sort of armor beyond that." Trevor approaches Tarrant as a brown robe laced with green appears in his hands. "This is for you, ecomancer. This is the Druid's Robe, and I believe it will serve one such as you quite well." Tarrant takes hold of the robe and feels the soft fibers as energy runs throughout his body. Tarrant: Thank you, I am sure I can put it to great use. Trevor nods gravely and heads over to Arzel. "And for you, young phoenix mage, I have these two Mythril Claws, forged from enchanted silver. I believe you are lacking a weapon, and which mages do often need them you may find them useful." ~Arzel accepts them. Trevor finally comes up to Valina. Trevor: To you, Pendant Bearer, Althena has left you with two gifts. She cannot replace your lost family, but she can help you survive long enough to discover a new one. These arms are the Gale Guard and the Song Tiara. They will protect you well." ~Valina takes the items. Earendil smiles. GMRune: Now, outside the tower, you hear a draconic roar that shakes small tremors through the marble tower itself. Through the window you can make out two winged shapes heading towards you. Earendil: Canth and Shade. Trevor nods. GMRune: The shapes comes closer and swoop down towards the base of the tower. Trevor: We should go down and meet them. I know at least Canth does not plan on coming up here. Earendil nods and heads for the stairs. Kadan heads down the stairs. Ayeye dashes after them. "Ack! Wait for me!" GMRune: The party heads down the steps and back to the first floor. By the time they reach it the dragons have landed outside. Shea, in her part-human, part-dragon form, is waiting by the doorway, Outside you can see Canth reclining on all fours. The radiant, if weary, figure of the Goddess is leaning against him. Tarrant scurries behind the rest of the group. Earendil quickly gets down on one knee before the goddess. Rein looks surprised from Shea to the Goddess and back. Rein notices Earendil and also kneels. Althena pulls away from Canth and stands tall and benevolently above Earendil. "Rise, Dragonmaster. There is no longer any need to kneel." Earendil gets up. Earendil: My lady . . . Althena: I understand that I had you and your friends to thank for my freedom, and that of my people. I am grateful. Earendil has a questioningly look on his face if for but a moment. Althena tilts her head slightly to one side. "You have questions, don't you." Her words are a statement, not a question. Earendil: Well . . . Ayeye: I have questions... Earendil: Perhaps Ayeye should ask them, they concern her most. Althena nods, her long blue hair billowing in an unseen wind. Ayeye: Why? Althena: Why. Why did I take the like of Maharahd and give it to Lunar. It is a good question for which there is no good answer. Ayeye: Oh... Err... Ayeye: You ruined a lot of lives... Althena: I did not mean or intend to ruin that world. I needed to save Lunar, and it was all I could think of at that time. I did not know where the power was coming from, only that it was there. And I did not think to find its source. I am afraid it is my greatest failing. Althena lowers her gaze slightly. "I am sorry, for what it is worth. I know there is no way I can atone for Maharahd's destruction." Rein looks pained. Ayeye: The damage you caused has not yet even reached its full potential... Is there nothing you can do? Althena: I am afraid not. The Urdians are here, and those that have not agreed to settle in peace refuse to accept anything else than this world for themselves. That I cannot allow. I know it is difficult, knowing what has happened, but they must be stopped. Althena: I can only indirectly aid you so that you may stop them in my stead. Ayeye: Sigh... you want us to finish what you started... Kadan: It may not be fair what Althena did, but allowing Nissa to conquer the citizens of Lunar would only add to the tragedy... Earendil: Indeed, two wrongs cannot make a right. Ayeye: I never asked for a wrong, Earendil, I asked for a right... Earendil: Then let's make the right after we have prevented the wrong. Ayeye: By committing more wrongs. It is the only way though. Althena endures your words almost like a doll, unflinching, but perhaps feeling the pain. "I am sorry," she repeats. "If there is nothing else you need of me, the dragons will take you to Vane. There you will learn the rest of what is to come." Earendil nods his head. Rein murmurs, "Thank you, Goddess Althena..." Kadan nods, his face betraying no emotions. Althena nods. "There is much to do, and I must recover. I can feel Nissa's presence, and he knows I am weak. He will try to fortify his power here as quickly as possible so that he may dispose of me. Quickly then, mount the dragons." GMRune: At her words Shea transforms into the shape of Shade, the former black dragon of Althena, and Trevor shifts into Quark. Earendil gets Quark. Rein hops on Shade. Quark snakes his head around to look at Earendil and grins. "Enjoy the view up there. It's a helluva lot better than riding those wyburns!" Geint smirks a bit at Quark. ~Valina climbs on Quark behind Earendil. Quark smiles back at Geint. "Do you need a ride, Magintna? Or do you think you can handle yourself?" Geint: I can handle it. Tarrant: Kadan can you give me a boost on to one of the dragons? Kadan hesitantly helps Tarrant up. Kadan joins Rein on Shade's back. Tarrant: Thanks. Arzel climbs slowly onto the nearest dragon. Canth accomodates Arzel and picks Ayeye up to set her down behind him. Canth then looks to the other dragons, and leaps off the mountain as he spreads his wings wide. The other dragons follow, and they begin a long glide on the thermal currents towards Vane. GMRune: As you fly and Vane comes into view, you notice that there is something strikingly different about the town. For one reason of another, there appears to be a large trench being dug in huge circular permieter around the town. Also, Vane is much more crowded than before. Even at this height you can see hundreds, if not thousands of people milling about below you. There are tents pitched all around the central town, yet still within the perimeter of the circle. Kadan: What...? Earendil: What is going on? Tarrant: Boy, I bet I could make a fourtune cooking for all of those people $_$ Quark: The beginning of the end! All of Lunar is preparing for what is to come. Earendil: Tarrant! Earendil: Take us down. Quark nods and heads down slightly ahead of Canth. He selects a landing spot outside of town where the dragons can be away from the crowds while keeping them in sight. GMRune: The dragons land carefully to avoid upseting their passengers and allow the party to dismount. Earendil gets off Quark. Tarrant slides down the side of the dragon's body. Quark: You have friends waiting for you in Vane. Many of them. They know about Althena's plans as well. We have been helping them organize it. All these people here is the result. Earendil: Thank you for bring us here. I will try to live up to the faith you put in me. Quark: I'm afraid "trying" will not accomplish much in these troubled times. You must *do*. I appreciate your concern however. Earendil nods his head. "I will, then." Earendil starts walking toward Vane. GMRune: The party follows Earendil and it is not long before you begin to be able to make inidivudal faces in the crowds around Vane. Many of them are dressed as mages, but surprisingly enough, there are large amounts of dryads present as well. More elves than you have ever seen run through the crowded streets, seemingly on errands of one sort or another. Earendil: The Empire must be advancing heavily now. Rein dodges a speeding dryad. ~Valina: Didn't Quark say we'd know some people here? Maybe we should ask what's going on. Tarrant looks around for some familiar faces. Rein moves aginst a wall to avoid being run over by elves and other assorted near-humans. Earendil attempts to raise his voice above the crowd. "Excuse me, who is in charge here?" Tarrant rushes over to an elf. GMRune: Some of the people point towards the Silver Spire at the edge of town. Tarrant sneaks up behind him and prods him in the back. Guess who? Person: The Lady is. She's returned. Earendil: Mileria? Par acks and falls over! "Tarrant! What are you doing?!" Tarrant: Uh, just getting your attention. Long time no see buddy, what are you doing here? Earendil walks over by Tarrant. "Par, is that you?" Par rubs the side of his head. "Well, I might ask the same of you. Dayus and I came here afetr we returned from Killith. Kadan: Par, it would seem that you and Dayus were successful. Par smiles to Earendil. "Yes, it is. Good to see you again. I notice the sword. Congratulations!" Earendil: Thank you. Earendil: From what I have heard, you have succeeded in rescuing Mileria. Can you take us to her? Par: Of course. She's actually been expecting you, though she hadn't told me why. Earendil: Then by all means, lead on. Par nods and leads the party through Vane towards the Silver Spire. "And you've probably guessed, we've been very busy lately. Lady Mileria didn't want to attract Kargeth's attention, but it can't be helped. We have to stick together." Tarrant weaves through the crowd, occasionally bumping into people. GMRune: For the second time, Par takes the party inside the base of the Silver Spire, but this time, in the bottom room, there is only Mileria, sitting behind a makeshift desk. She has a basin of water before her and a jeweled disk is floating within it. Mileria looks up at your entrance. Mileria: Welcome, heroes. It has been a long time, hasn't it? Kadan squints at the elegant woman. Earendil: I am glad to see you safe. Mileria lowers her eyelids a little as she shakes her head. "I would not say that, but at the very least I am alive--for now. It is more than I can say of my husband." Kadan: Lord Elron...? Mileria: He did not survive the removal from the crystals we were trapped within. I barely did myself. Earendil: My condolences, Lady Mileria. Mileria plucks the disk out of the water. "It is all right. There is no time for mourning now. The time has come for Lunar to learn to live without so much of the magic of its birth. This prevalence of free mana in the world is what give the warlocks, and Kargeth, the power to do as they will. If we remove it, then they will be stopped." Earendil: And how do we do that? Kadan: Remove magic...? Kadan's eyes open. Earendil: Wait a minute, I thought most mana came from the goddess? Mileria: When Althena's tears rain from the sky, the world will be flooded with a holy water than will cleanse the land of the magic that had been driven so wildly out of control. Only those we have gathered here in Vane will be spared. They alone will retain their magic. Rein: Is that what the trench is all about? Mileria smiles wearily. "Almost. For you see, those lines are where Vane will break from the earth and sail into the sky." GMRune: -------end session------
