Earendil: Don't be discouraged, Camille and Elanor have shields up. Earendil: They need to be dispelled. Ayeye: Oh... errr... how? Earendil: Valina can do it. GMRune: Kadan uses Shapeshift! He slips into his black panther form with the effect of a stream to flowing to the sea. GMRune: Rein casts Fusion Litany on Geint! She is no longer dazed. GMRune: Camille plays a cleansing music on her flute and the melody wraps around Earendil, dispelling his Star Shield. Geint blink-blinks. GMRune: Camille uses Sonic Wave on the front row! Waves of horribly varying pitch wash over the front row! Geint: Ah. ^_^ GMRune: Ayeye takes 298 damage and is knocked out. Kadan negates the magic. Earendil takes 530 damage! Geint takes 499 damage and is knocked out! Geint flops over. ;_; GMRune: Liana casts Mana Theft on Earendil! GMRune: Earendil looses 120 MP and Liana gains it! Earendil growls. GMRune: Elanor casts Aqua Rage on Par! GMRune: The spell bounces harmlessly off the Heavenly Armor. GMRune: Earendil casts Star Shield on himself! GMRune: Valina casts Dispel Magic! Waves of soothing lavender light wash over Camille, Liana, and Elanor. All status spells are dispelled. Earendil: Now, blast them to high hell! The ethereal image of Canth appears behind him. Canth spreads his wings, showering the party in healing blue light. Geint flops down again. GMRune: Kadan negates the magic. Earendil, Arzel, and Tarrant gain full hp. GMRune: Arzel casts Flame Breath on one of two images of Liana! He strikes the right one! The doppleganger vanishes. GMRune: Liana takes 250 damage! GMRune: Tarrant casts Pegasus Wind! The scent of the forest surrounds those in the cavern as the Pegasus Feather glows. Ghostly white forms of pegasi shimmer into the air, and swiftly fly through his enemies. GMRune: Camille takes 1199 damage! Liana takes 1432 damage! Elanor takes 1613 damage! GMRune: -------round 4------ GMRune: Kadan's Shadowcat Mask flares with savage red light! Magic swirls before him, being sucked from the people around him (everyone save Kadan loses 50 MP). He uses Ancestoral Call! GMRune: Ancient energies infuse Kadan with the strengths of shadowcats gone by. All stats raised by 300. Kadan: ... Kadan: Gr'aaaaaaaa! GMRune: Camille seems undaunted, however, and attacks Kadan! GMRune: attack 1: miss GMRune: attack 2: 1 damage GMRune: Camille uses Dispel on Earendil. His Star Shield breaks down. GMRune: Liana casts Phantom Force! Waves of illusion wash over the party! GMRune: Kadan negates the magic! Earendil is hit for 164 damage! Arzel is protected! Tarrant is protected! GMRune: Elanor uses Quick Shot on Arzel! A swift arrow strikes him for 328 damage! GMRune: Earendil leaps into the air and brings down his sword as he uses Power Strike on Camille! Camille looks down at her companions in digust and regards the party defiantly. Earendil: They will be fine. As for you Camille, we intend to send you to play with Garreth. GMRune: Tarrant casts Pegasus Wind! Green mist swirls into being, bringing with it the scent of the forest after the morning dew. Phantom pegasi sweep gracefully into view and whisk with chilling precision through Camille! Camille: Garreth was a fool... Earendil: So are you. GMRune: Camille takes 1356 damage! GMRune: --------round 5------- GMRune: Kadan lunges forward with a growl and barrels into Camille! Kadan: Snarl! Earendil runs over to Elanor. GMRune: Ayeye, Rein, Geint, Par, and Valina wake up with 1 hp. GMRune: Elanor is quite unconscious. Earendil: They said that the power of the blue dragon would heal her. GMRune: Kadan shifts back to human form. Kadan threatens Rein with a 1 damage paper cut if he doesn't heal everyone. Geint blinks. Earendil: Perhaps it can help Liana too. GMRune: Rein casts Bright Aura over the party! Everyone gains 244 hp or goes to max. Par nods. "I hope so, Earendil. I don't know what I could do otherwise." Kadan picks up his weapon and leers over at the fallen enemies without much compassion. "Help...? I've stopped trying to understand these fools." Earendil calls forth the power of the Blue Dragon and directs its healing esscensce toward Elanor and Liana. GMRune: Canth's image appears once again to the party. As if in understanding he bows his head, spreading his power over the inert forms of the two women. As he fades, Elanor and Liana begin to stir. Earendil kneels down and picks up Elanor's hand. "Elanor?" Kadan points his weapon at Camille. "And what about her? Did she choose this path willingly, or is she just as worthy as these others?" Elanor shakes her head weakly and opens her eyes. "Earen... dil?" Elanor: Is that really you...? It can't be... Earendil: Elanor! Earendil hugs Elanor for all he's worth. Geint smiles. Earendil: I thought I had lost you forever. Elanor smiles slightly, closing her eyes again. "It is you. I'm so tired..." Elanor: I thought I'd never see you again. Earendil: But it's over now, at least for you. The warlocks don't control you anymore. Elanor shakes herself. "What happened? I thought I was fighting you. Was it real?" Kadan: Don't let your guard down yet... This may all be yet another trick. Par, over by Liana, appears to ignore Kadan. Earendil lowers his head. "During the battle at Shelladon, the warlocks took you and put you under their control. It was my fault." Earendil: You were fighting me, but it wasn't your fault. Elanor: It can't be, Earendil. You weren't anywhere near us at the time. Tarrant moves about the room, trying to overhear the conversation. Elanor: The warlocks were too good at separating us in the battle. Earendil: Father sent me to protect you. You and mother were my responsiblitly. Kadan takes a step back and casts a blank gaze over the scene, having nothing to say. Earendil: But it is the past, and I have learned to live with it. All that matters is that you are safe now. Elanor rests her head on Earendil's shoulder. "Thank you. But I think I will have to rest. I feel so weak." Earendil: We'll take you back to T'lain's tower. I'm sure he will let you rest there. Kadan: Haven't we an object to acquire here first? Earendil takes his cloak off and lays it under Elanor's head. "Rest here. I have some other things that need to be taken care of." Earendil: Yes, I know Kadan. Elanor nods and lays back against the wall. Earendil gets up and walks over to Camille's body. Kadan turns his attention over to Par and Liana. "How is she?" GMRune: Over before the gilded red doors to the Phoenix's inner sanctum, the figure of Jael watches you quietly. Par: Like Elanor she is very weak, but I think she'll be all right. She just been time to recover. Earendil grabs the Red Dragon Shield and Blue Dragon Helmet, "I believe that these belong to me!" GMRune: Camille lies limply on the ground. Kadan: Par, what kind of magic was infecting their minds? Do you know who personally could administer such a spell? GMRune: The Red Dragon Shield and Blue Dragon Helmet still have the dull, darkened look to them. They are cold and lack the holy luster they once had. Earendil: I must take these to Quark, but first, the Phoenix Robe. Earendil does not equip the shield or helmet. Par: Lord Gausuton. He delights in twisting the minds of others. Since Elanor was brought into House Banshee I can only imagine that this is his work. Kadan nods. Kadan: Well, then if the Phoenix Robe is in good condition, I'll have to say this mission is a success. We should hurry back before I'm forced to take back those words. Earendil goes over to the doors and looks up at Jael's form. "It is good to see you again." Jael bows. "It is good to see you as well. I was summoned here to await your arrival when your opponents approached. It is good that you came when you did, because it would not take long for them to realize that they cannot take any serious harm from me." Earendil: May we just enter? Jael: Soon. The Phoenix will test one of you to see if you are worthy of receiving his power. Before you enter that chosen person must be selected, and he or she must enter at the head of your party. Also, this person may not be part of one of the Four Tribes. Earendil: There is only one of us who I think can receive the robe. Earendil looks at Arzel. Arzel looks up. Geint notices Earendil's glance and nods. Arzel removes his hood and nods. Earendil stands aside and lets Arzel through. Jael opens the doors for Arzel and moves to one side. "Good luck." Arzel walks onwards and through the door. Earendil: Do the rest of us follow? Jael: If you wish. Geint: Arzel? Do you want our help? ^_^ Arzel remains silent, lost in thought. GMRune: The party sees a a narrow path leading to a gigantic nest of stone and flames set in the center of a lava lake. The phoenix is a bird like none other, whose feathers have the consistency of flame, and shimmer in a myriad of heated colors. His eyes are a fiery blue-white, and regard you carefully. The Phoenix scrutinizes Arzel, but says nothing forthright. Earendil: He has helped me, I will do my best to help him. Earendil goes through the doors. Arzel casts recovery litany on himself, and approaches the Phoenix. Phoenix: So, you and your friends are the ones the dragons have chosen. I warn you that I do not approve of their behavior of late, but because the Urdians menace must be held back, I will consider your bid for my power. GMRune: Arzel's hp goes to full. Arzel nods. "I am ready for whatever test you have for me." Phoenix: Then show me your fire. GMRune: A ring of flame surrounds the Phoenix and Arzel, preventing any intervention from the party. The Phoenix lifts himself from his nest and looks critically down at Arzel as he spreads his wings. GMRune: -------round 1------ GMRune: target: Phoenix GMRune: Arzel sucks in a deep gulp of air and breathes Flame Breath! GMRune: The stream of fire strikes the Phoenix, but appears to wash over him without any apparent harm. The Phoenix flaps his wings, hurling columns of fire at Arzel. "Not good enough!" GMRune: Arzel takes 133 damage! GMRune: ------round 2----- GMRune: Arzel casts Pulse Laser! GMRune: The beam vanishes before it even hits the Phoenix. Arzel looks annoyed. Phoenix: That was a disappointment. GMRune: The Phoenix keens and fire spontaneously bursts in being around Arzel! Geint watches hopefully with her hands folded together and held up to her chin. GMRune: 266 damage! GMRune: ------round 3----- GMRune: Arzel casts Recovery Litany! He gains 302 hp. GMRune: The Phoenix does nothing this round. GMRune: -------round 4------ Arzel takes another deep breath and tries his fire breath once again GMRune: The flames meld around the Phoenix, seeming to be abosorbed by him. Arzel sighs in confusiion Phoenix: Is that all you can do? To command the Phoenix Fire you must be stronger than this! GMRune: -------round 5------ GMRune: Arzel casts Fire Soul on himself! GMRune: He is aligned with fire. The Phoenix watches him. "An improvement. Have you more?" GMRune: -------round 6------ GMRune: Arzel casts White Heat! GMRune: Flames surround him as flow from his body to meld with the Phoenix. The Phoenix's eyes grow even hotter. "Yes... you have the potential... I can feel it." The Phoenix spreads his wings. Cones of fire rush from them to strike Arzel, but they wash harmlessly over him. Arzel grins slightly Phoenix: Very well, you know enough. I will allow you to have the Robe. GMRune: --------victory!--------- The Phoenix lowers the barrier around him and Arzel. Geint claps. ^_^ Arzel bows his head slightly. GMRune: Arzel earns 25 XP, 100 MEXP, and 0 S. The Phoenix almost seems to smile. "You possess the most talent for a fire mage than I have seen in a long time." A shimmer red light winks before him, coalescing into a bright feathered red robe. "As a result, this is yours." Arzel takes the robe, and never being one for words, just says, "Thank you." GMRune: The robe glows briefly in Arzel's hands. GMRune: Arzel learns the spell "Phoenix Fire"! Arzel puts the robe on. GMRune: Arzel equips the Phoenix Robe. GMRune: ------end session-------
