A massive ball of dark energy built on the face of the Silver Spire and fired down upon those below, including Arzel and Tarrant who have begun to flee for their lives. GMRune: On a nearby hillside, you suddenly begin to see a bright blue light rising in tandem with the fall of Yegaar's magic. It rushes forward in a sudden surge of power, colliding with the undead wizard's spell. The two meet with a gigantic explosion. Smoke fills the air, sending those below into massive coughing fits. Valina: *coff* *coff* GMRune: The minds of those who have been dancing in the crack pit begin to clear. Earendil: *cough* *sputter* What's going on? GMRune: You can just barely make out the outlines of two people standing on the hillside. Tarrant: Does anyone else see those figures up there? *point* Valina looks. :P GMRune: One of the figures, the shorter one, waves at the party and begins coming down the hill. Earendil squints through the dust at the two figures. Arzel nods silently. Valina jumps on Earendil's shoulders and looks. Valina: Ummm yeah... Earendil: Hey! Valina: Sorry. :D Valina jumps off Earendil. GMRune: The second figure follows the first and as the dust begins to clear you see that the first one is Rein and the trailing one behind him is Shea, without her cloak. Tarrant waves to Rein. Earendil gets out of the pit and helps Valina out. Rein heads towards the party, little blue sparks floating off of him now and then. Valina: Thanks... Shea follows carefully at a distance, watching Rein but saying nothing. Par coughs loudly. "Rein! You're back! What happened?" GMRune: The party notices that Rein is now wearing the sapphire blue pendant around his neck. It is the very one Arzel and Tarrant found those ages ago in Mertyl. Rein glances back at Shea briefly, then pulls the neckline of his shirt aside to reveal a familiar pendant. Tarrant: Hey what happened to your disco chain Rein? Shea nods encouragingly to Rein. "I'll be going now. Good luck, brother." Rein gives Shea a little salute, and a smile. Valina *huggles* Shea... "Thanks again for your help" Shea smiles to Valina. "I'm trying." She waves to Rein, gestures, and vanishes. Ayeye avoids looking at Shea. Rein looks around at the party. "Is everyone all right?' Valina: Ummm... I'm okay. Earendil: I'm not sure, last thing I remember was fighting some skeletons. Ayeye nods. "I think I am fine...although I have no idea what happened..." Par mumbles, "Headache." Earendil looks questioningly at Arzel and Tarrant. Arzel shrugs. Arzel: The dust... GMRune: The grayish dust in the pit beside the spire is looking more orange in color now. Rein: Where's Yegaar? Tarrant looks back at the pit. Arzel: Yegaar was running a test on us... Arzel: To see who is more easily controlled... Par gestures at the Silver Spire. "In there." Ayeye: Did we pass? Arzel: Tarrant and myself were the only ones unaffected Ayeye: Oh... so... we failed then? Par: I guess... Arzel shrugs. Earendil: He's toying with us. Ayeye: I'm sure the prize for winning would've been a disappointment anyway... Rein sees Valina's wounds and casts off a heal aura. Tarrant: Yeah, but we can't give up. GMRune: The party gains 182 hp or heals to full. Rein: I have something to tell, you all about the pendants Ayeye looks at each of the people just standing around. "Tarrant's right! We can't give up! We have to try again!" Rein: Shea told me this, and asked me to pass it on to all of you Earendil: Go ahead Rein, but be quick about it. Yegaar might try another attack soon. Rein: Well, she said the pendant of hope is the pendant of the past. Par: That would be Valina's pendant... Valina feels... pastish. Valina nods. Rein: It's important because of the optimism of youth which the past represents. Rein: The pendant of Chaos --Rein gestures at his pendant-- is the present Rein: Fitting, I think, considering the confusion of our times. Valina agrees. Rein: And the pendant of fortitude is then, of course, the future. Valina: Who holds that... that is the question. Rein: Shea said that if we understand what lies ahead we can prepare ourselves to face it. Earendil: I think we all understand what lies ahead. Ayeye: We do? What is that? Par: That doesn't make all of us the third bearer though. Par: Rein, did Shea tell you anything else we should know? Earendil: Ayeye, the battle to bring down the empire, of course. Ayeye: That's not very specific, is it? I mean, anyone could have guessed that... Earendil: How specific do you want? A minute-by-minute plan? Rein: Well... when I became a pendant bearer... a bit of Althena's blood was mixed with mine. I think it's a requirement to bear the pendant. Valina: ... Earendil: Which means? Earendil looks at Valina Ayeye: Err... no... just something... more... Something that actually tells us something... Valina: We are all the... Valina: I... am... Ayeye: All right, so we need to find someone with a goddess' blood, that doesn't sound so hard... Par: Nothing ever sounds hard to you, Ayeye... Ayeye shrugs. "Well...someone with the goddess' blood should stick out in a crowd. At least, I would they they would..." Rein: Well, I'm sure Althena has provided us with the elements we need to succeed, so there must be somewhat, but they must be chosen... Earendil puts his hand on Valina's shoulder. "Valina..." Valina looks up at Earendil. "Yes..." Earendil: Are you okay? Valina: Not really... Valina: This.. is overwelming. Earendil: Don't worry, I'll be here to help you. Valina: ... Thanks. Par looks up at the Silver Spire. The beautiful structure looks so much more tarnished since he last was here. Rein: Where were you guys headed before... uhh... I showed up. Earendil points to the spire. Ayeye looks at the immobile group again and starts moving around impatiently, "Let's get back to whatever we were doing before we got stopped!" Par nods to Ayeye. "Good idea." Par looks to Rein. "We're trying to recover the Pegasus Feather Yegaar stole. That's why we're here." Ayeye heads for the entrance to the Spire. Rein nods. Valina: Oh... Earendil: Yes, I don't want to stay out here any longer. Earendil heads after Ayeye. GMRune: The party enters the first floor of the spire. The inside is danky and dusty, nothing like what it was before. There are no signs of furniture, no signs of life. In the scarce amount of time Yegaar has been here cobwebs have begun to build in rapid abundance. Valina jumps along. Ayeye examines the cobwebs. "Neat! I wonder if you used a spell to get them so quickly..." GMRune: The cobwebs are exceedingly fragile, and wave slightly as the party moves near them. They cling tightly to everything within reach of them. Valina: ... I don't like this. Rein tries to keep the webs off his head. Ayeye knocks some down with Zara's Spear as she moves through the Spire. GMRune: At the far side of the entry hall you see a dismal stairway leading upward. Various bones are scattered on the many spiraled steps. Valina stands close to Earendil. Ayeye makes her way to the stairway, and follows it upward. Earendil holds onto Val's hand. GMRune: The bones on the stairway rattle as Ayeye passes by them, but do not move any further than their rapid shaking. Rein keeps moving past the bones. GMRune: One of the bone clusters making up a hand leaps and latches on to Rein's ankle! Valina: Ummm... I expected this place to be a wee bit... cleaner. Rein jumps back, trying to kick the arm off. Par looks grimly at Valina. "It was. House Magus always kept this place in peak condition." GMRune: The hand flies off of Rein, scuttles slightly on its palm, then inches back towards him. Rein whacks at the arm with his staff. Ayeye looks back down the stairs. "Are you all right down there?" GMRune: Rein breaks the bones into several little pieces. They shudder and skitter, but no longer are capable of grabbing on to anything. Rein pushes the person in front of him up the stairs, away from the undead bone chips. Valina stays in back. GMRune: Only Ayeye is past the bones, and now Rein. The rest of the party is still at the bottom of the staircase. Valina: I don't like this... Earendil. Ayeye gets out of Rein's way. "So... that's a no then..." Earendil: Let's hurry up the stairs. Par looks uneasily at the remaining bones. "Make a run for it then?" Rein: Hey, normally, I'm fine with the undead. It's just when they start grabbing me... Ayeye looks around while she waits for the rest of the group. Valina nods. Valina: I am right behind you. Earendil runs up the stairs. Valina follows quickly. GMRune: Earendil and Valina run up the stairs. As they do the bones clatter wildly with their eerie excitement. A claw flies up from their movements and lands in Valina's hair. Valina: AHHHHHHH! Valina: Earendil help! Earendil gets the claw out of Val's hair GMRune: After the two are past, the bones below continue to creep and twitch along each of their steps in anticipation. Valina is standing still... GMRune: The claw is throughly tangled in Valina's hair. Valina is frozen. Earendil: Out you damn claw! Par glances up at Earendil and Valina, then back down at the bones. Taking a deep breath he runs over the mess, batting offending bones away with his cane. Earendil keeps working at extraditing the claw. GMRune: The claw doesn't not seem able to come out. It fights Earendil at every strand of hair. Valina: Ouuie Ouuie Ouuie Rein almost whackwhackwhacks the claw, then notices Val's head nearby and thinks better of it. GMRune: Arzel, Tarrant, and Kadan have yet to climb the staircase. Arzel follows everyone else. Valina *slowly* walks. Valina: We had to run... didn't we... Valina: *grumble* GMRune: The bones latch on to Arzel's robes and begin to climb up towards his head. Earendil: I need a dagger. Valina does *NOT* need a haircut! Kadan climbs the staircase. Arzel mutters and tries to shake it off. GMRune: The bones do _not_ come off Arzel, though they do seem to strangely enough, leave Kadan alone. Valina: Kadan! Ummm can you help us... GMRune: The claw in Valina's hair begins to wriggle in deeper. Valina: Ahhh! Arzel: Umm..anyone know dispel magic? Earendil: Hurry up! Valina: It's touching my skull... ummm Kadan: I don't get it... What'd I do? Earendil: Just come up here and help me! Valina begins to chant, and her pendant begins to glow. Rein tries to help Ear. GMRune: Valina casts Dispel Magic! A lavender glow envelops all of the bones in the area. The glow fades and they all become motionless. Valina: Get that icky thing outta my hair... please! Earendil tries again to get the claw out of Val's hair. GMRune: The claw easily comes on out. Kadan tries to reach Earendil. GMRune: An oppressive feeling surrounds the party, as though something's interest in you has been severely heightened. Arzel shakes the claw off his robe. GMRune: Kadan reaches Earendil without a problem. Ayeye continues wandering around the area. Arzel continues up with everyone else. Earendil: There Val, its out. Rein: I think we'd better hurry... GMRune: The second floor has no windows that you can see. All the walls save those leading to the outside appear to have been torn down. The walls and ceiling are colored black, and you cannot see where the next set of stairs is. Ayeye: I don't think I like this guy's interior design abilities. Kadan: We shouldn't stay here any longer than we have to. Earendil: I would tend to agree with you. ~Tarrant hurries up the stairs after the party. Rein: Why would you tear down all the walls like this...? Par: Maybe he didn't want any privacy. :P Ayeye bounces around the area, looking for stairs, or a door, or something useful... Valina: Well... perhaps he wanted to remodel. Valina: Add some bones, tear down a few walls... Valina: ~sigh~ GMRune: Ayeye suddenly bounces out of sight and through the floor. Rein edges carefully towards where Ayeye disappeared. Ayeye: Ahhhhhh! ...found something... Valina: What? GMRune: Rein finds a narrow hole through which Ayeye fell. The end of it cannot be seen, nor Ayeye for that matter. Rein feels down in the hole with his staff. Valina walks up to Rein. Earendil walks up behind Valina. Ayeye: Ouch! Valina: You okay? Rein lurches forward towards the hole a bit. Rein: Somebody grab me! Rein looks like he's pulling on the staff. Ayeye: Ack! There's something down here! Someone get me out now! GMRune: Rein's pulled a little further towards the hole. Earendil grabs on to Rein. "Kadan, we need your help!" Valina holds on Rein... Valina pulls! Valina: Don't you go too! Kadan lunges forward and tries to grab Rein. Rein tries pulling his staff out of the hole. GMRune: Now that Kana, Valina, and Earendil are holding on to Rein, he doesn't move any further. Rein is not strong enough to pull his staff and whatever else it is, coming out of the hole. Ayeye sounds really nervous. "Guys... quickly... there is something really nasty down here..." GMRune: Rein's staff twitches wildly as through something has struck it. Rein: Hey! That staff's not cheap! Valina is *squished* beteen Rein and Kadan... GMRune: Rein's staff lurches, nearly coming out of his grip. Rein: Ayeye! Is that you grabbing the staff? Ayeye: Staff? Ayeye: Do they hiss? Valina: Ummm... Valina: Errrr... Valina: :P Rein: Wha-- what? Rein glances back at the rest of the party. Earendil: Uh oh. GMRune: The entire party can now hear a loud hissing sound emerging from the hole. Valina: I don't like this... Ayeye screams, "You don't like this! What about me?!" Rein: What are we going to do about this!?! Rein feels his grip slipping. GMRune: The staff is yanked a little further, nearly popping Rein along with it. Rein: Ayeye, how far down are you? Ayeye: Ah hah! Take that! GMRune: The party hears a loud shriek and Rein's staff twitches completely out of Rein's grasp! It falls down into the hole. GMRune: There's a loud, ungainly thud shortly thereafter. Rein falls backwards on everyone else. Valina: OUCH!! Earendil: Frack! Valina feels really squished. Par: Ayeye! Are you okay? Valina: Ummm err ... Earendil... grrr... get Rein off me... Valina: And... err what a frack? Ayeye: Yeah! I skewered the thing! Rein jumps up, arm behind head "Oops, sorry 'bout that, ehehhh..." Par: Oh... um... that's good... Valina rolls off Kadan. Kadan looks a wee confused. Valina: Err... It's okay. Earendil gets up mumbling. Valina: Earendlil... what's 'frack?'? Rein pokes his head down the hole. Earendil: Like "damn!" Valina: Ohhh... GMRune: The hole is still dark. There is a foul stench coming from it now. Kadan doesn't seem to be affected by the stench. Rein: Ehhh... what did you do to that thing, Ayeye? Earendil yells down the hole, "Ayeye, if your spear is long enough, hold it up and Kadan and I will pull you out. Kadan: Yeah! Ayeye: I stabbed it. Could you please get me out of here! Ayeye: All right... Rein: Umm... maybe if you can find my staff down there... Ayeye raises her spear upwards. GMRune: The party sees the pointed tip of Ayeye's spear come out of the hole. It is covered with green ichor. Rein doesn't touch it. Earendil: We better get that stuff off first, its probably poisonous or acidic. Kadan: Indeed. Earendil: I don't know with what though. Valina looks in disgust. Valina: Icky! Ayeye waves the spear around impatiently. "Can you hurry up, I don't like it down here..." Earendil: Does anybody have something we can clean that off with? The bush is panting from the inside of Ayeye's backpack down in the hole. Par digs around in his pack and produces a handkerchief to Earendil. "Will this do?" Earendil: What about fire magic? . . . wait, then it would be too hot to handle. Earendil: Yeah, that might do Par. Earendil takes the hanky and proceeds to clean off Ayeye's spear being careful not to touch the stuff. GMRune: The ichor is difficult to remove, but Earendil is able to get most of the gunk off. Earendil: Okay, let's get her out, Kadan. Kadan nods. Earendil grabs onto the spear. Kadan tries to help Ayeye. Valina: Icky! Earendil: Ready and . . . PULL! Valina is terrified of icky ooze and blobs. GMRune: The two men heave and manage to pull Ayeye up and out of the hole. She is partially covered by a thin oily film and sports an injury on her right hand that resembles a bite mark. Ayeye: Thank you... Ayeye looks at herself and tries to wipe off the nasty film. GMRune: The film sticks to her hands. Ayeye: Ack! Yuck! Ayeye tries harder. GMRune: The film seems incredibly reluctant to let go of Ayeye. Kadan: Does anyone have anything she can wash off with? Ayeye: Eww... Ayeye: What is this stuff? Earendil: Not I. Par shakes his head. Kadan: Just spit on it, lass. Par: O_o Earendil whispers, "Lass?" Ayeye looks down at herself, and raises an eyebrow. "Spit on it?" Kadan: Maybe it's water-soluble! Ayeye: All of it?! Earendil: Just live with it for a little while. Par looks down in the hole. "Do you really want to try finding your staff, Rein? Or should we forget it?" Rein: Ehhh... I think I can just pick up a new one, next time we're in town, hehehe.... Ayeye: There better be water somewhere around here... Earendil: Let's get going then. ~Tarrant: Let's keep looking. We still have more floors to go up and we need to find the staircase. Kadan: Yeah, we need to keep moving. Valina agrees. Ayeye raises her fist at the ceiling. "You hear me you stupid warlock! You're going to pay for this!" Ayeye: ...I hope this comes out of my hair... GMRune: A little further down the direction Ayeye had taken prior to accidentally falling down the hole, the party finds another spiraled staircase. Valina agrees with Ayeye. GMRune: This staircase is happily bone free. Earendil says in a sarcastic tone, "I think its an improvement Ayeye." Ayeye sticks her tongue out at Earendil. Valina baps Earendil. Par rolls his eyes and heads up the staircase. Valina: Earendil... a girl's hair is important to her. Valina looks at Ayeye... "Men." :P Earendil shakes his head and keeps walking. Ayeye nods to Valina, "I know..." Valina follows Earendil... Ayeye heads up the staircase. Rein too. Kadan follows Ayeye. GMRune: One the third floor the party finds a checkerboard pattern spread out before them. Again, the walls of the tower have been knocked down to turn the entire third floor into a single chamber. Every other tile is marked with either a skull or a set of crossbones. There is no way around the checkerboard. Kadan: What the...? He truly is a madman. ~Tarrant: An *undead* madman. Earendil: In this case, it seems that none of the tiles are "safe." Kadan: Is there a pattern to it? GMRune: The pattern of skulls and crossbones are laid out exactly as on a checkerboard, with skulls replacing one color and the crossbones the other. Valina: Great... GMRune: Each tile is five by five feet. GMRune: The board itself is forty feet by forty feet. Kadan scratches his head. "Can't say I ran into anything like this in the slums..." Earendil: Anybody have something we can throw onto the tiles? Kadan: We're not using my jerky! Rein: I've got an old iron bracer. Earendil: Would you be so kind to throw it onto one of the skull tiles. Valina looks... and decides to keep Jael's Journal. Ayeye is definately not using the bush for this. The bush remains in its neurotically contented state, panting obliviously in Ayeye's backpack. Kadan: Wait... what about the bush? It's perfect! I can test the tiles and come back for more! Rein tosses it onto one of the skull tiles not adjacent to where we're standing. GMRune: The bracer lands with a clatter. Nothing happens. Earendil: Hmm. Rein: Well, maybe someone should try the skull tiles. Par: Any volunteers? Valina: Umm... Errr... Earendil: Let me. Valina: No. Kadan: Can you pick up the bracer? Earendil: Someone has to Valina. Ayeye: I'll do it, it couldn't be any worse than what has already happened... Earendil steps up to one the skull tiles. "Well, here goes nothing." GMRune: A bolt of lightning strikes down from the ceiling! Earendil is hit for 25 damage! Earendil steps forward. Earendil: FRACK!! Rein: Okay, who wants to try the other kind. Valina: Ahh! Valina: Earendil, you okay? Earendil: Yeah, it was just a little shock. Kadan: This doesn't look good... Par: Well, we could take the damage and hopscotch across... but that isn't very healthy. Kadan: Tarrant, do you know enough of Yegaar to know what kind of twisted logic he fancies? Earendil says angrily, "Fine, I'll try the crossbones tile too." Valina simply doesn't like this. Earendil sidesteps onto the crossbones tile next to him. ~Tarrant shakes his head. "Not really. My grandfather knew him, not me directly." GMRune: The tile glows, showering Earendil with some sort of light. When the light fades he is covered in the same sort of goo Ayeye is. Valina steps back! Valina: Iikkyyy Earendil: FRACK FRACK FRACK FRACK FRACK!!!!! Kadan: What is this treachery? Ayeye laughs. "It looks nice on you also." Kadan: That's it... I'll see if the shadows of this chamber have witnessed Yegaar's strategy... GMRune: Kadan begins to concentrate. His mask sparkles briefly. Rein: Maybe they're alternating? Like, first one is active, then the other? Or maybe they have to be stepped on at the same time.... Kadan: He... Kadan: He's so ugly... Par: Eh? Earendil: You better not be talking about me. Kadan: His army... has no flesh. Bone servants... are placing the tiles, placing them where he says... Kadan: They could have been placed with the second pattern. Why did he choose this one? Earendil: Stop being vague. Kadan: A shadow of an object is blurred and shifty compared to the object itself. I can't see much more than that. Just take a look at them. It's pretty simple. Earendil: But what are these patterns? Rein: Second pattern? Kadan: It's impossible to make out simply by the shadows themselves. Just that there were two different tile patterns, and this is the one he decided on. Rein looks puzzled. Earendil: Is there no way to get over them? Kadan: Sorry, I can only see the shadows of the past. The shadows of the future have not yet been cast. Kadan: Since when am I responsible for all the mental deduction in this band? Par gets a sweat drop. "I don't know..." Valina is scared. Earendil: I've done my part and suffered enough. Now it's your turn. Par: And do what? Earendil: I don't know. Rein: Well... about the second thing... there's only two ways a checkerboard can be laid out... starting in one corner with one color, and starting in the same corner with the other color... Kadan: Perhaps. Kadan: Ah, blast it. My strength cannot be overcome with the mind of a dark... magic user. Kadan runs across the board with reckless abandon. Rein sweatdrops! Earendil: Umm . . . GMRune: Kadan runs across a total of ten squares (as a result of reckless abandon)! He is zapped several times and covered with goo nearly as often as he finally reaches the other side! Kadan has taken 125 damage! Kadan: G'ah! Kadan: I said blast IT not blast ME! Kadan curls up into a fetal ball and shivers with shock, limbs flying sporadically. Valina is really scared. Ayeye watches Kadan with amazement. "I am not doing that..." Earendil looks worriedly at Valina. Valina: Earendil... I don't wanna cross. Rein: Maybe we could just get sprayed with the juice... that doesn't seem so bad Valina shudders... icky. Kadan stands up and punches in many directions out of sheer frustration. Kadan: Grrraaaahhh! Par looks at Ayeye, then back at Rein. "Um..." Kadan: You know... Earendil: Somehow I think this goo is more than it seems to be. Kadan: It's really not that painful! Ayeye: Oh no, there has to be a better way! Valina: Yeah... Valina: Anything... Earendil: Wait, I wonder if the dragon wings would work? Valina: It... is worth a shot! Earendil pulls out the White Dragon Wings. "Get close everybody." Valina *huggles* Earendil. Rein gets next to Earendil. Ayeye moves close to Earendil. GMRune: Valina gets some of the goo on her since she forgot Earendil was covered in it. ;) Valina: Iiikkky! GMRune: Valina is semi stuck to Earendil now. Valina wipes the goo off on Rein! GMRune: And Rein is stuck to Valina. :P Earendil holds up the Dragon Wings. GMRune: The White Dragon Wings glow briefly, then fade. The wings reappear over by Kadan. You, however, are still on the other side. Valina: Errrrr... Kadan: Whoa! What the...? I don't want these. Ayeye: Err...nope... Earendil: Ack! Earendil: Umm, Kadan, hold on to those for me please. Kadan: Umm... whatever. ~Tarrant: I'm starting to think we'll just have to run the gauntlet. Earendil: Indeed. Valina wonders why the the Dragon Wings didn't come with an instruction book! Earendil: I for one think that the goo's would be more pleasent that the shocks. Earendil: Valina? Valina: Must we??? Rein tries running on the goo ones, but jumping over the lightning ones rather than going diagonally. Arzel mutters coldly and trys to teleport to Kadan, ignoring Earendil's failure. GMRune: Rein gets gooed. He does not however, get shocked by jumping over the skull tiles. Valina: If we do it fast enough... maybe we won't get gooed. GMRune: Arzel's magic sputters and flashes in an erratic manner. Kadan suddenly appears besides Arzel. GMRune: Rein makes it over to the other side. Rein tries to wipe the goo off his face. Kadan: What the...?! Earendil: Uh Arzel, wrong way. Arzel glances at Kadan. Kadan starts pounding the snot out of Arzel. "Do you have ANY idea what I went through to... Geez!" Valina looks in disgust... Arzel defends himself by poking Kadan in the ribs with his claws. "Get away, Lumox!" Earendil: Valina, I'll only go when you're ready. Rein sits on the far side. Kadan brow hits and belly punches Arzel into submission. "You little wizard snot! Get me back over there this instant!" Par: How's the weather over there, Rein?! Rein: It's kinda sticky... Par grimaces. "I'll be joining you soon." Arzel: I wouldn't trust my magic here Kadan, you'd probably end up somewhere you wouldn't want to be. Kadan: Well, I don't want to be next to your oily hide, so anywhere beats here. Kadan grumbles. Par begins hopping his way across, only stepping on the crossbone tiles. He makes his way over to Rein, covered in the sticky gunk, but otherwise okay. Ayeye sighs and looks at the tiles. "Are you sure there is no other way?" Valina: Well... Kadan sighs with a stern curl on his brow and follows Par across the crossbone tiles, not caring how filthy he gets. Earendil: Val? Arzel picks his way across tiles like everyone else. Valina looks at Earendil... Valina: Do I have to? ~Tarrant follows after Arzel, though he trips once on to a skull tile and takes 25 damage. Earendil: I would fly you across if I could, but they're seems to be no other way. Valina looks. Valina: Is this board magical? Or is it some other trick? Ayeye looks at Valina. "We have to do it, don't we?" Valina: I don't wanna. Earendil: We have no way of overcoming this dark magic. Valina closes her eyes and chants... GMRune: Valina casts Dispel Magic on the tiles! Nothing happens. Valina: :P Worth a try... Earendil says jokingly to Val, "When we get out of this spire, I'll treat you to some yummy roots." Valina: Ummm... with the way you cook Earendil... Ayeye looks at Valina. "Well, maybe if we make the dash together we will only get half as gooped up..." Par: Come on over! It's not _too_ bad! We're waiting on you. Valina is thinking... Kadan: Rein, don't you have some sort of degunkifying remedy? Valina: I'm going for it... Rein: Ummm... Earendil smiles. Rein: Not really.. if it starts to affect someone in some way, I can probably help, but, I don't know how to get it off. Valina begins to chant, and contol the wind beneath her feet in her special way, to VERY lightly and very *quickly* jump between the tiles... GMRune: Valina begins to jump across, but she quickly learns that speed has nothing to do with how gunked up you get. Valina: ARGH! Ayeye sighs and dashes after Valina. "No fair!" Valina: Icky!!! Valina: Disgusting! Valina: Icky! Valina: ARGH!!!! Earendil runs straight across jumping over the skull tiles. GMRune: Ayeye is also covered in more of the sticky film, as is Earendil. All three make it over to the other side. Valina rolls on the ground on the other side to try and remove the ickyness. GMRune: Once the entire party is across the checkerboard, a round metal disk appears on the side of the board everyone is now on. It appears to be a teleportation pad. ~Tarrant: Shall we step on it? Ayeye steps on it. Earendil: Of course. Kadan: I don't trust this place at all... Kadan follows Ayeye. Earendil goes in as well. Valina follows. GMRune: The party climbs on to the teleportation pad.
