GMRune: ---------victory!-------- Kadan jumps up and down and cheers. Geint sits there, half alive, freezing cold, wet, and very very disheveled. Arzel notices Ear's prone form. "Umm.." GMRune: Earendil's unconscious body is hanging out of the dead squid's mouth. GMRune: The party earns 837 XP, 113 MEXP, and 250 S. GMRune: Earendil wakes up with 1 hp. Geint shivers and chatters, trying to figure out how to dry off. Earendil goes up to Arzel and Tarrant. "Heal . . . NOW! or become shish kabobs!" Par is rather glad he doesn't have healing magic right now. Geint: O_o Arzel heals Ear. Rein hides. Arzel: Sorry Earendil... GMRune: Arzel casts Recovery Litany. Earendil recovers 200 hp. Arzel does it again for good measure. GMRune: Earendil gains another 216 hp. GMRune: With the squid's death, the party sees the water beneath the strange ice drain away, revealing a staircase downward. The air beneath is even colder than it is above, and most of you are hard pressed to keep yourselves warm. Earendil: Down we go. Earendil proceeds down the stairs Ayeye: Do we have to? Ayeye sighs and follows the Dragonmaster. Geint: *ShIvER* GMRune: The staircase melds into a short tunnel as you reach the bottom. At the end of it you can see a bright light beyond a stone archway. The arch is intricately carved with runes and symbols and appears to be a part of the cave itself. Rein: Are you okay, Geint? Geint walks... since she hasn't the strength to fly. ;b Geint: ..III've deffenetly bbbeen bbbetter.... Par: Maybe if we could dry you off, Geint... Rein notices Geint is still injured and casts recovery lit. GMRune: Geint gains 156 hp. Geint looks a bit less bloody. ;b Earendil: Arzel, why don't you carry her? Par: Poor Geint. She still looks so bedraggled. Arzel: Okay... Rein: You should say something Geint... Arzel picks up Geint awkwardly. Rein: ...Those wounds could get worse. GMRune: As the party nears the arch they see a small chamber beyond it. There seems to be something in there. Geint: ...Sorry, Rein. Par: Should we go inside? Rein: Well, it's just, you know, try to take care of yourself, okay? Geint, since she'd been picked up by Arzel, decides to move to his shoulder. Rein looks a bit embarrassed. Earendil heads in. GMRune: Within this chamber you see a white retangular marble altar atop a frozen pool of ice. The altar has a inscription on it in gold on the side that faces you. Three small chests, one of gold, one of silver, and one of copper, lay on top of the altar. Arzel walks behind everyone else like usual. Earendil looks at the inscription. GMRune: The inscription reads: To each chest belonged a soul Together for power they did vy Touch the victor of this war Or beneath the frozen death you'll lie. Kadan: Hmm... Ayeye: What does that mean? Kadan: Belonged a soul...? Earendil: It makes some sense. Rein looks at the chests, careful not to touch. Earendil: The question is, which chest is the right chest. GMRune: On closer inspection you see that the gold and copper chests are perfectly smooth, save for where they open, and the silver chest has scratch marks on it. The copper chest seems to have some kind of marking on it. Ayeye points at a chest. "I think it's that one!" Kadan examines the copper chest's marking. GMRune: The marking seems to be a whitish flakey substance. Kadan: Fighting for power... Hmm... Earendil: There's no marking on the gold chest, but that doesn't mean its contents was the victor. Par nods and idly taps his cane on the ice beneath his feet. Earendil: Any ideas anybody? ~Tarrant: Well, we could just take our chances. Ayeye: But which one do we take our chances on? Geint shivers on Arzel's shoulder. Ayeye looks at each of the people and shrugs. "So... I should just try one then... anyone..." Rein: Uhh... Rein looks around the pedestal fully. Earendil looks around the room for anything else. Kadan: This doesn't make any sense... What power were the chests fighing for? GMRune: The chamber is utterly circular and the party must stand on the icy floor inside. There is nothing else of interest in the chamber. The altar does not appear to have any other mrkings on it. Earendil: Perhaps they were vying for the power of the White Dragon. Arzel nods and points to the silver chest, without giving any reasons. Earendil looks more closely at the markings on the copper chest. Earendil: These are scales, like a lizard's. Earendil: Or a dragon's. Earendil takes a look at the scratches in the silver chest. Earendil: How about the copper chest everybody? It has what could be the symbol of the White Dragon. Kadan nods... "I think I agree..." Ayeye looks at it suspiciously. "Try it..." Arzel shrugs idly. Earendil nods and slowly opens the copper chest. GMRune: The chest clicks open at your touch and emits a flash of light. When you can see again you see a teleportation pad where the altar was. Earendil: Shall we see where it goes? Kadan: Indeed. Geint: ...I didn't even stay concious past being swallowed. I'm that weak. *shiver* And I hate this cave. Always hated it. And now... Oh.. uhm.. nevermind. Sorry.... Geint: o O (Oh yea. Sure, Geint. Just what Arzel needs, a little angry air bunny.) Arzel turns his head slightly to look at Geint. "What?" Geint: ...Nothing. Geint: I'm fine. *slight smile* I was babbling... Arzel: A bad habit... Geint looks at the group. Frowns. "They totally ignored you." Arzel: They do it often. *shrug* Geint: ...Oh well..... Geint kind of sits there looking cold and not very happy. Earendil strides forward onto the pad. Kadan steps onto the pad. GMRune: The party dematerializes then appears within a the largest chamber yet in this system of caverns. Twoards the back of the chamber is a small ziggurat with a hovering crystal above it. Two human figures stand before the ziggurat. One of them is completely cloaked, but infinitely familiar. The other is Trevor, and he steps forward to greet you. Trevor's face remains serious as he speaks to you. "Congratulations, you have passed the white dragon's test of cunning. Quark would be proud of you." Kadan: Trevor... Earendil: Thank you. Trevor looks back to the cloaked figure. "And as promised, there is someone waiting here for you." Earendil looks up at the cloaked figure. Geint looks up... GMRune: The cloaked figure slowly doffs her cowl and reveals the face of a young girl, possibly around Rein's age, but hardened by an incredible sense of determination and duty. Her hair is a bright red and her facial resemblence to Rein is uncanny. Shea: Trevor, talked me into formally meeting you. Hmph, I think this is unusual in my doing this. Rein looks glassy-eyed. Rein: Pria... Shea meets Rein's eyes and nods. "I am what remains of the black dragon Shade and the human woman Pria." Earendil's face contorts into a look of confusion. Shea drops off her cloak, again revealing the Black Dragon Armor and her black furred wings. Rein approaches Shea slowly. "You... is it really you, Pria?" Geint: ... Shea's gaze on Rein wavers and she forces herself to turn away. "I'm sorry I could not tell you sooner, Rein. But as you can see, I am not the sister you knew. There is much at stake on Lunar these days, and I have no intention of letting Kargeth get the upper hand, no matter how much I have to sacrifice. I'm no longer just Pria. I'm Shade, and I am both at the same time." Rein reaches out a hand to Shea's face. Shea flinches, but lets Rein come near her. Rein runs a finger along Shea's jawline. Rein: I thought I'd lost you forever. Rein: After Master Mendren died, and you diappeared, I... Rein cries out and throws his arms around Pria, without a care for her wings. Shea glowers. "Pria is lost." Her gaze softens a little. "But I remember. I remember Mendren." Shea blinks in surprised and hugs Rein. She is actually taller than him now, though she wasn't earlier. Kadan stands and remains silent. Rein shakes his head violently. "No... it's you, I don't care what happened, it's still you." Arzel blinks and looks down at his side. "The pendant is humming.." Shea: Rein.... if you knew what I went through when I was trapped in House Flysse... all the pain, all the hatred... you'd know why Shade and Pria are now one. Kadan: I can't believe it. That's priestess we read about... and the black dragon... GMRune: The humming from the pendant in Arzel's pouch grows still louder. Now the entire party can hear it. Rein just holds on to Shea and cries. Shea pats Rein reassuringly. Shea then looks over at Arzel. "You say you carry a pendant?" Arzel nods. Kadan: Rein... I had no idea... All this time, you thought she was missing, she was alive all the time. If only... Trevor casts a warning glance at Shea but she stares him down. Kadan turns away and holds his fist to his mouth. Shea: May I see the pendant? Rein steps away, gazing at Shea. Arzel takes the pouce off his belt, and looks at the others for an afermative. Geint shivers once again. Arzel shrugs since no one seems to care and hands the pouch to Shea. Earendil nods to Arzel. Shea takes the pouch from Arzel. She opens it and draws out the blue-gemed pendant. It doesn't shock her. "Mine," she murmurs. "I lost it when Quark and I fought in Mertyl..." Kadan: You were in Mertyl...? Trevor appeared... was that shortly after your battle? This is starting to make sense now. Arzel nods. "That's where we found it.." Shea nods. "Yes, I was in Mertyl. Quark and I fought. He thought the pendant was influencing my thinking. He wanted Shade back... dearly." Earendil looks at Trevor. "Where is the White Dragon now?" Shea sets the pendant back into the pouch and shakes her head. "But I can't keep this." Geint sits there.... appearing to be too deep in thought to notice anything... Trevor shrugs. "Here, there. He's always messing around someplace." Trevor looks at the whole party. "We do have a lot to tell the group of you though, if you're willing to listen. Shea and I gathered a lot of information about what you're gonna need to stop Kargeth's plans." Rein: Master Trevor... I don't mean any disrespect, but if you knew what had happened to Pria, why didn't you tell me? Trevor lowers his gaze. "Shea... makes her own rules. She asked me not to say anything. I only could convince her recently to even meet you face to face." Rein nods. Trevor: Now... Shea and I know the group of you will need the three pendants the warlocks want so badly. You have two in your posession now. Shea has found the location of the third. Kadan: But don't we also need the three pendant bearers? Earendil: And we need the tome back as well. Shea nods. "We still need to identify the bearer of the third pendant. And since the power of the four dragons will be needed to combat the warlocks, I must also step down as pendant bearer. If Rein is willing to undergo a mission, it will be possible to make him pendant bearer in my stead." Trevor: The tome will be recovered in due time, but the pendants and a few others things should be gathered before you even attempt to go near the book. Rein: Of... of course. Shea: It is a lot to ask of you Rein. It will not be easy... Geint sighs and looks around. Rein tries to "shikkari" <>. Trevor: You also must use the power of all Four Tribes or risk being destroyed once all three pendants are brought without the presnce of the tome. For that purpose you will need four items, the Dragon Armor, the Pegasus Feather, the Phoenix Robe, and the Shadowcat Mask. You already have one of those items as well. Rein shakes his head. "I don't care, Pria." Shea nods to Rein. "All right. I'll be coming with you. Both of us must be present for the transfer." Rein sniffles and smiles. "As if I'd let you leave again." Kadan takes a moment to look at his mask again. Earendil shuffles a bit at the mention of the Dragon Armor. Shea shifts uncomfortably. "Um... I don't know about that..." Geint examines her wet fur. Trevor: I'm afraid I can't help you beyond giving you the names of the items though. The locations of those treasures is kept hidden by each of the tribes. Kadan: Must we return to the ruins near Lentol...? Arzel pulls a small towel from his pack and hands it to Geint. Trevor looks at Kadan. "I doubt it unless you seek to discover more of your heritage, shadowcat. There is a chance a return visit may increase your power." Geint finds a way to dry herself off with it, goodness knows how... Kadan: But if we need information about the items' location... I surely don't know any secrets that could be valuable. They must lie with my passed ancestors... Earendil: We have the Shadowcat Mask, and we know where the Dragon Armor is. Trevor thinks about that for a moment. "You may be right. I still won't say you *have* to return to Lentol, but there may be a lot more waiting for you than I first thought." Geint is now slighty damp and cold. ;b Shea's complacent look vanishes as she turns to Earendil. "True, but I cannot give you the armor at this time. I have much to do, and unlike Quark, I am not yet convinced of your ability to become Dragonmaster. If I find you worthy of undergoing my trial, then I will begin the test regardless if you are aware of it or not." Kadan mutters something under his breath. Earendil: Nor did I expect to receive it at this time. I know about the trials and I will be prepared to face yours when the time comes. Shea nods. Shea steps aside as Trevor speaks. "Now, Earendil, since we shouldn't waste any more time than necessary, please, ascend the ziggurat and accept the White Dragon Wings." Earendil: Doesn't the White Dragon have to be here for this? Shea and Trevor exchange glances. Shea speaks. "He is watching. That is all I will say." Earendil looks at Trevor and Shea. "I see." Earendil proceeds up the steps. GMRune: A large lavender crystal hangs suspended at the ziggurat's peak. It seems to beckon to Earendil with its shimmering light. Earendil lays his hands on the crystal. GMRune: The crystal disappears and in its stead are the White Dragon Wings! GMRune: Earendil acquires White Dragon Wings [MgE +15, teleportation ability]. Earendil reaches out and takes the Wings into his hands Geint watches in an unusually apathetic manner. She smiles a bit at Earendil getting the dragin wings. GMRune: Earendil learns White Dragon Protect! Earendil: Thank you, Quark, wherever you are. Quark's voice echoes through the cavern. "You're welcome. Don't mak me regret this!" Earendil: Now . . . Geint looks up. Rein steps up to Shea again and says, "I can't believe you're back Pria... all this time I really thought you were dead or something." Kadan: It's such a wonderful thing... ... to have a sister... Shea: I'm not. And now if the would-be Dragonmaster wishes to test his new toy and go somewhere, the two of us had best get going. We'll catch up with your friends later. Geint glances around... Earendil nods. "These two need some time alone, where shall the rest of us go?" Shea: Earendil, do you have any idea on where you and your companions would like to go next? Kadan: It seems we have some choices... Earendil: First I think, we would like to have a rest after all that we have been through lately. Par: I don't think we're going to get any rest though, Ear. Geint: Well... we should go somewhere.... Geint: Soon. Ayeye: Maybe we should go see the pegasus again. Earendil: At least somewhere where we can revive our HP and MP. Ayeye: Shelladon? Earendil: I suppose we could go back to my house. Ayeye: We could go back to my... home... I am sure we could get supplies there... Geint glances around again... shivers once, not as violently as before. Geint hops off of Arzel's shoulder. Geint wanders off. O_o Earendil: Geint? Trevor: Let her go... I think she needs to sort some things out. She's a dragon. She'll be able to catch up with you when necessary. Earendil: Well then, I'm heading home, everybody who is coming with, get near. Ayeye reluctantly steps near Earendil. Earendil holds up the Dragon Wings and wills the party to his home in Shelladon. GMRune: The party save for Rein and Geint disappear in a swirl of white light. Shea takes Rein by the hand. "It's time we go as well." She gestures and the two vanish in a cloud of black smoke. GMRune: ----------end session---------
