Garreth heads towards the party as they continue to be suspended in midair. His mocking gaze passes over all of you as you are helpless to do anything but speak. Ayeye: This isn't very fair... Ayeye: I don't suppose you would prefer a challenge? Valina: Na... he's looking for the easy way... Kadan gives Garreth one of his patented angry scowls. Garreth shakes his head. "What do you think I am? Stupid? Despite what Arzel thinks, I'm not that dumb." Arzel stares coldly at Garreth. Valina: You're right Garreth! You're not dumb... You're pathetic! Ayeye continues to try to manuever. Garreth sneers. "Look, missie, if you didn't want to get in this mess then you hould have given up a long time ago." He draws his sword. "Anyone care to die first?" Ayeye points to Earendil and smiles innocently. "How about him?" Earendil: You can. GMRune: Ayeye continues to wave around in midair, not really moving up or down. Valina: You have killed me already! It is your turn! Earendil decides to ignore Ayeye's comment. Geint just kinda floats there, and doesn't particularly say anything. Garreth: Hmph. I suppose a Dragonmaster is as good a target as any. Arzel: You'll never win, you know that don't you, Garreth? You'll never become as powerful as you want to be... evil moves in upon itself and destroys itself. Kadan: I would not mind dying here. For you to slay us here would reassure everything that I suspected about the Empire; you're nothing but a bunch of worthless cowards. I would pass on knowing that I was a better man than you. Earendil: So, you would kill a helpless man. Some honor you have, but then, I should expect you to understand such ideas. They are beyond your comprehension. Ayeye stops struggling. "Wait! I don't suppose you would duel for our lives? One on one, winner takes all?" Garreth taps the tip of his sword against the ground then heads over to Earendil. "All of you are full of such brave words. That's what makes you so... quaint." Valina sticks her tounge out at Garreth. Earendil pulls out his sword. "I won't go down without trying to defend myself. Garreth chuckles. "I suppose I should fry you from a distance then? I don't have to get within reach of your sword." Valina moves in the *general* direction of where she thinks her pendent disappeared to... Earendil attempts to cast Star Shield. Ayeye: Fine then! Why don't you just get it over with! Don't you know that your stalling will in some way lead to our escape? GMRune: Valina floats in midair, leaning in one direction. Tarrant hesitates and speaks, "How about we have a test, a magic test." GMRune: Earendil casts Star Shield! He is immune to magical attacks! Geint sighs. =\ Arzel: Does it make you feel big and strong, killing people when they can't defend themselves Garreth? You always were a coward! Earendil grins at Garreth. Tarrant returns himself back onto the ground. "Your simple levitation spells are weak." Valina reaches for her pendant... Garreth frowns slightly. Then a smirk glosses over his face. "I'll let you keep that, for now." Valina: I... I can feel its power. GMRune: Valina's pendant glows from its position on the other side of the room. Garreth gestures, throwing Tarrant back up in the air. Garreth: Stay where you are, mage! Geint: o O ( Hmm. Earendil's magic worked....... .....there's got to be some kinda plan I can make..... some way.....) Valina reaches... trying to steal her pendant back the way Gausuton stole it from her! GMRune: Valina reaches her arm towards her pendant. The lavender gem in its center flashes! The spell around the party drops, sending everyone crashing to the floor! Ayeye looks through her backpack, pulls out a dark orb, and attempts to throw it at Garreth. Geint: O_o Geint: o O (Well now, this turns everything around... ) Earendil quickly gets up. GMRune: The pendant vanishes from its place on the altar and reappears around Valina's neck! The lavender gem flashes again! Valina learns the spell "Dispel Magic". Geint drops, and then takes to the air a few seconds after. Ayeye lands hard, but leaps back to her feet. "What happened?!" Arzel lands with a thud and quickly gets up. Geint: Valina's pendant somehow set us free. GMRune: Garreth takes a step back. He glances at the alter, then at Valina. He brings his sword up in a defensive stance. Earendil: Well Garreth, seems that we shall teach you a lesson about fighting fair. Valina: HA! Valina: So that is how it is done! Garreth: I'd like to see you try! Even if it isn't easy, I'll still prove I'm stronger than you! GMRune: ---------round 1-------- GMRune: target: Garreth! Ayeye raises Zara's Spear and jumps at Garreth. Earendil grins somewhat evilly. "We shall see, Garreth." GMRune: Ayeye attacks Garreth! GMRune: attack 1: 1 damage Valina: Now it is my turn to let you experience death! GMRune: attack 2: *critical* 12 damage Garreth: Death does not claim those who would improve its lot! Earendil: But, you will not be given the chance to come back! GMRune: Kadan casts Negate Magic! His form is covered in black light! Kadan is now immune to magic. Valina grins at Garreth... GMRune: Rein does nothing. GMRune: Garreth chuckles! He raises a hand and casts White Heat! The entire party is bombarded with flame! GMRune: Ayeye is hit for 79 damage! Kadan is immune! Rein takes 121 damage! Earendil is protected! Valina takes 182 damage! Geint is aligned with fire and takes 1 damage! Arzel takes 14 damage! Par takes 1 damage! Tarrant takes 1 damage! Ayeye staggers quite a bit under the heat. Arzel chuckles. Geint blinks and huffs once at Garreth. ;b Earendil biihs at Garreth. Garreth: Think that's funny, Arzel? Try this! GMRune: Garreth casts Fire Blast! A large pillar of fire careens into Arzel! Geint ulps. -_- GMRune: 214 damage! Geint: O_o Arzel ouches. Geint: Arzel! Arzel groans, "Someone heal me.." Geint: o O (...Something like that happening was predictable. -_-) GMRune: Earendil raises his sword and leaps at Garreth! Power Strike! GMRune: 328 damage! GMRune: Valina casts Silent Breath! GMRune: Garreth resists. GMRune: Geint dives from the air and slashes through Garreth with Wolf Strike! Geint growls in a strangely more dragonlike manner than usual. But it isn't very loud at all. GMRune: 414 damage! Earendil: Tarrant, if you have the spell, try casting Star Shield on some the party members who have a weak defense against magic. GMRune: Arzel takes a deep breath and shoots a gout of Fire Breath on Garreth! Geint watches to see how affected Garreth is. GMRune: 163 damage! Ayeye puts out some of the flames on her clothes from Garreth's attack. "...stupid fire-bugs..." GMRune: Par hurls an Ice Dagger at Garreth! GMRune: 306 damage! GMRune: Tarrant casts Vine Scourge! A plant tendril breaks up through the floor and smacks Garreth! Tarrant: "To tell you the truth," as Tarrant looks towards the ground, "my star magic no longer burns inside me. What I mean is, I no longer have the means to use it." Earendil gets quiet. "Oh, my apologies." GMRune: 378 damage! GMRune: ------round 2------ Garreth: Hmph, you little bugs are somewhat tougher than I thought. GMRune: Ayeye attacks Garreth! GMRune: Valina defends. GMRune: Geint uses Wolves' Strength! She gains an extra attack a round! GMRune: Arzel casts Recovery Litany on himself! He gains 200 hp! GMRune: Par casts Ice Dagger at Garreth! GMRune: 276 damage! GMRune: Tarrant casts Vine Scourge! A plant tendril attacks Garreth from behind! GMRune: 320 damage! GMRune: ---------round 3-------- Valina looks evilishly at Garreth! Garreth chuckles. Valina grins at Garreth... Geint groans for a second from pain and then turns it back into a dragonly growl as she prepares her claws again. Valina: Hopefully you'll look at me when you die! Garreth: I think you're feeling a tad too safe, miss. Care to feel the burn? Valina: Naaa... Valina: BBQ's are NOT my thing GMRune: Kadan uses Shapeshift! His equipment melds into him save for his mask as takes the form of a large black panther! Garreth: Too bad, because you're about to become one. Valina moves around rapidly. GMRune: Rein casts Revive Litany on Ayeye! She awakens with 59 hp! GMRune: Garreth casts Dispel! The Star Shield around Valina disappears! GMRune: Garreth casts White Heat! Bursts of flame explode around the party! Ayeye slowly stands up. "Ouch...that hurt..." Valina falls... Geint looks around nervously to see who's going to drop from the spell. =\ GMRune: Ayeye takes 199 damage and is knocked out again! :( Kadan is immune. Rein takes 153 damage! Geint does a little snort, meant to look menacing, but only looks kawaii. Geint decides to do what works. GMRune: Kadan attacks Garreth! A translucent ghost appears before the party and wails! Geint sighs and mutters. -_- GMRune: Kadan is immune. Earendil takes 392 damage! Geint takes 396 damage! GMRune: Geint is knocked out! Kadan: Mew. Valina: Well, I am afraid to say you pissed me off when you killed me! Valina plugs her ears! Valina: I can sing better than that thing! GMRune: Rein takes 267 damage! Earendil: Sorry, but once he gets a taste of something he likes, he never lets go. We used to have a party of ten. Geint eeps and gets up to fly. Garreth: Damn cat! GMRune: Garreth casts White Heat! Valina lays down like a roasted marshmellow. GMRune: Garreth sneers at Earendil. GMRune: Earendil uses Power Strike! GMRune: 306 damage! Earendil: However, I have something for you, this is for Valina. GMRune: Geint uses Wolf Strike on Garreth! Geint finally gets herself back enough to attack! She does a swift narrowing of her eyes before brutally attacking! GMRune: 403 damage! Garreth staggers back. GMRune: Arzel casts Pulse Laser! Par casts Ice Sword! Tarrant casts Thunder Bolt! They combine to form Heat Shock! GMRune: 1230 damage! GMRune: Garreth is defeated! GMRune: -------victory!--------- Kadan: Mwa ha ha! Geint: O_o Valina *blinks*. Kadan backs up on his hind legs and howls. Geint: Wow. Arzel chuckles softly. Garreth gargles out a pool of blood and collapses to the floor. GMRune: Kadan casts Shapeshift and returns to human form. Arzel: Not as weak as you thought, 'eh Garreth? GMRune: Garreth: Damn you.... I didn't think... you could possibly be... this hard... Earendil looks down at Garreth. "Pititful." Arzel looks at Garreth. "I told you I'd get my revenge.." Garreth seems on the verge of saying something more when his eyes roll back and he remains still. GMRune: Garreth is dead. GMRune: Valina wakes up with 1 hp. Earendil goes over to Valina, and helps her up. Valina feels dizzy. Valina: Whoa... what happened... Kadan: Pfft. At least we won't have to hear his voice anymore. Geint blink blinks a few times. Earendil: Don't worry, he's dead now. Arzel mutters something under his breath, bows his head and takes a few steps back. GMRune: The party earns 837 XP, 293 MEXP, and 500 S. Valina: Oh good... Valina walks over to Garreth's body... Valina takes her rapier and slits his throat. Valina: Doesnt feel good... does it! Par: Um... he's already dead, Valina... Arzel: Mutilation of the dead, no matter how evil is unneeded Valina... Earendil puts his hand on Par's shoulder and shakes his head. Par looks over at Earendil and nods. Geint looks up at Arzel from where she had recently landed on the ground, and then at everyone. Valina: I feel better now. Valina walks back to Earendil. Arzel pulls his hood over his head, leans against the wall and folds his arms into his robes. Valina looks at her pendant... Valina: Well, at least I have this back! GMRune: Valina's pendant shimmers softly. GMRune: The party hears a soft clapping sound now that the event is over. Valina: Oh great... Geint: -_- Arzel: Gausuton... Valina: ~sigh~ Geint nods =\ GMRune: A voice chuckles; it is not Gausuton's and sounds friendly. "Well, you did pretty good. You should be proud of yourselves." Earendil yells out, "Would you care to show yourself?" Arzel: Trevor. GMRune: A white light flashes and Trevor appears in front of the group. Geint blink-blinks. Trevor: Good, I know I'm remembered. Valina: Oh hi! Earendil: Ah. Geint: That was a surprise. =b Valina smiles all friendly like at Trevor. Arzel stares at the ground. Kadan eyes Trevor with caution. Trevor nods to the party. "I wasn't certain you could beat Garreth, but it appears my friend was right. Speaking of which, there is someone waiting for you at the white dragon's cave." Geint looks at Trevor. "Why are you here?" Trevor winks at Geint. "I'm doing what I need to do to see that Lunar stays in one piece." Geint: =b Earendil: The white dragon, by chance? Arzel raises his head and looks at trevor . o O (Could he be the white dragon...?) Trevor looks to Earendil. "I'm just delivering the message. I'm not at liberty to discuss who is waiting there. Though I can guarentee you may be in for a bit of a surprise." Valina: Oh good... I just love surprises... Trevor: If you're not up for the walk, I think I can teleport the lot of you there. Earendil: Well then, shall we go see this wacky dragon that all the villagers were talking about? I wonder what power his dragon item will have. Valina: Oh... please. Trevor bows to Valina. "All right. Take care of that pendant too. You still have the other one you found in Mertyl, right?" Valina: I will... this time Gausuton wont be able to take it from me! Now that i know how to take it back!!! Geint: Let's go then! I haven't seen Quark in a while.. Earendil: And I won't let anything happen to her. Valina grins at Earendil. Trevor: The second pendant though, do any of you still have it? Arzel: I do... Trevor: Okay. Then everyone sit tight and enjoy the ride! GMRune: A wave of light washes over the party, lifting you from this reality. When you emerge and the light fades, the party finds themselves outside a windy cave. GMRune: The mouth of the cave is lined with ice, and a foreboding wind wails from the inside. The entire cave seems to have the temperature of a glacier. Valina: ~sigh~ I was hoping we would be transfered into the cave... not outside GMRune: Trevor is no longer with the party. He does not seem to have traveled with you. Geint shivers. Earendil looks around for any magic restoring stones. GMRune: There are no magic restoring stones. Geint: Silly Quark and his frozen cave. =\ Arzel summons a small flame to his hand to keep warm. Par: Shall we head inside? Valina: Sure... Kadan: At last... Geint: Hah. ;b It gets colder the further in. Geint flies ahead. Arzel starts to glow, anticipating the need for a light. GMRune: The party enters the cave. As they do so, a loud disembodied draconic voice booms out, "Welcome to my cave, would-be heroes! Oh, and you too Magintna. Can I call you Maggy now? Ahem! Anyway, you've gotta pass the trials within and stuff so... I hope you have fun!" Valina looks at Geint... Valina: Maggy? Geint gets an annoyed anime sweat drop. Arzel: Magintna..? Earendil: Maggy?! Valina: I like that! Valina: It is *cute*. Geint: My name is Geint!! -_- Valina: Okay, Maggy! GMRune: As if to spite Geint, the draconic voice chuckles softly, "Maggy!" Earendil: I hope this cave doesn't reflect the white dragon's reputation. Geint mumbles about quark and his icy cave. ;b GMRune: Geint's unintelligible mumbles echo softly through the cavern. Arzel starts glowing and enters the cave sence no one else seems to be in a hurry GMRune: The entrance to the cave is a slippery, narrow path. Though Arzel's light is bright, the path ahead seems so long that the light doesn't make much of a difference in seeing anything other than what is nearby. Geint sees Arzel advance and descides to follow. =b Earendil, with a determined look on his face, starts treading down the passage. GMRune: The path takes a downward slant, while at the same time the ceiling rises high above you. Even the slightest sound echoes loudly above you. Valina holds on to Earendil... Geint hmms. Valina looks back at Rein... Arzel walks quietly with his head bowed. ~Rein: What? Valina: Ummm Rein... I still feel pretty bad... could you heal me please? ~Rein: Oh! Um... sure! Valina: Thank you! GMRune: Rein casts Healing Litany! GMRune: Valina gains 164 hp! Kadan runs his fingers along one of the walls. Kadan: ... Strange. Geint: What? GMRune: The path comes to an end and the passage widens to reveal a gigantic frozen lake. The entire "floor" of this room is covered in ice, and there is no place to step except on the lake itself. The chamber is large enough that Arzel's light cannot reveal the other side. Earendil checks the lake to make sure the ice will support him. Kadan taps the ice to test its strength. Valina is light enought to not really worry. :P GMRune: The ice seems thick enough. It cannot be seen through, and is for the most part smooth, though narrow pairs of lines criss-cross the surface in numerous places. Geint flies. Geint hmms. Geint looks around at the cave, or at least what she can see... Geint shivers. Arzel: Geint... go see if you can find the other side... then I can teleport us all over. Geint: ...Hmm? ...Okay.. Kadan: Er... I'd rather take my chances with the ice, truth be told. Arzel shrugs. "Do as you wish." GMRune: A low rumbling shakes the chamber. It seems like Quark's laughing is echoing from somewhere, but the sound is distorted enough that you can't pinpoint its origin. It's followed a split-second later by an "Ow!" Geint stops flying ahead and swerves back to everyone else. Earendil: Kadan, I think Arzel's teleportation magic has improved to the point where we can trust him over short distances Valina skips along all happy like! Earendil: Ow? Geint: Huh? Arzel is waiting for Geint. Geint: Okay... so what am I doing now? We're gonna have Arzel teleport? Geint now flies away again. =b Valina just stand behind Earendil. Earendil: Kadan? Kadan appears reluctant. Kadan: Whatever... Arzel: I did, remember teleport a small group from the Pegasus Shrine to Yeegar's tower Earendil: Go ahead Arzel. Arzel: Got to wait for Geint.. Geint souts back from some distance. "OKAY!! NOW WHAT?" Valina gets her wind comb and combs her hair. Arzel: Someone tell her to stay there. Arzel starts to chant, trying to teleport the group to Geint's location. GMRune: The party vanishes and suddenly appears beside Geint. There is a narrow, downward sloping tunnel much like the one before. Its walls are covered thinly with ice. Arzel looks at Kadan. "Was that so bad?" Earendil starts heading down the tunnel. Kadan: I think I... might be... ill... GMRune: The ceiling again begins to rise above you and your footsteps echo loudly along the path. Valina happly trots behind Earendil. Geint flaps while chattering. =b Arzel looks at Kadan for a minute, shrugs, and continues on. GMRune: When the path again comes to an end and the passage widens to reveal a gigantic frozen lake. The entire floor of this room is covered in ice, and there is no place to step except on the lake itself. The chamber is large enough that Arzel's light cannot reveal the other side. Earendil: I knew it. Arzel blinks. "Weren't we just here?" Geint: Quark's screwed up. =b GMRune: A low voice rumbles indignantly, "Am not!" This is also followed by an "Ow!" then "Stop hitting me!" Geint figures out who must be there. =b Earendil: Great, he's having fun, and we're stuck in this never ending cave. Valina: ~sigh~ Earendil: Shall we try walking back through the tunnel we just came out of? Geint: I suppose so... =\ Earendil heads back through the tunnel. Valina hops along behind Earendil. GMRune: The party heads back through the ice filled tunnel. They see the passage is strangely sloping downward, though by rights it should have been upward. This tunnel ends in a smaller chamber, also filled with a frozen lake for a floor. The ceiling is relatively low here compared to the rest of the cavern. Kadan would be able to reach the top with the tips of his fingers. GMRune: There does not appear to be an exit from this room. Valina: ~sigh~ Geint: ....Quaaarrk? What are you up to? GMRune: There is no answer this time, not even a stifled snicker. Geint hahs. =b Earendil: There doesn't seem to be anything here. Shall we try the passage one more time? Valina: Why not? Geint: ....Uhmm.. Geint looks around. Kadan tries to touch the top just to test the claims of the astral narrator. GMRune: There does not appear to be anything of interest. GMRune: Kadan can reach the ceiling. :P GMRune: The astral narrator baps Kadan on the head for that too. Geint sighs. Geint: Well... okay. Kadan: Ow! What the...? Kadan: Ayeye, did you see who bapped me? Earendil treads back thru the passage again. Geint: Well, let's go... Valina: Wea.. let's. Geint follows Ear, waits for the human torch. =b GMRune: The party heads back the upward sloping passageway and finds themselves back in the room with the gigantic frozen lake. The chamber is large enough that Arzel's light cannot reveal the other side. Kadan scratches his head. Earendil grumbles in frustration. Valina: Hmmm... Geint: Back down... there had to be something we missed. Geint: ...Well? Valina: Okay... Geint heads back down. =b Earendil follows. Arzel follows Geint. Valina moazys along. Earendil 's mood, unlike Valina's, is starting to become quite foul. GMRune: The party heads back down to the smaller ice- filled chamber. The air frigid in here and the ice is almost bluish. Geint shivers and flies as far in as she can and examines every speck she can. Kadan rubs his hands together. Arzel summons a small flame to keep warm. Geint flies closer to Arzel so she doesn't freeze. ^^; Valina *cuddles* up to Earendil. Geint: I can't find anything... Par: Are you sure you didn't miss anything? Arzel: Hmm... Valina looks. Geint: I don't know... =\ Arzel looks into the ice to see if there is anything under it. Earendil's mood isn't appeased any by Valina. Valina looks at the ice. GMRune: The ice cannot be seen through. It is an odd bluish white in color though. Unlike the lake above, this one is completely smooth, without any lines or cut marks on it. Kadan: I wonder what's under this ice... Valina tries to chip the ice. GMRune: The ice chips. Arzel: This ice is not like the other... Geint breaths a bit of fire on it. Earendil: Wait a minute, do you think those cut marks on the other chamber might be a map of sorts? GMRune: The ice melts a little bit, but Geint will be breathing fire for hours if not days before she'll be able to get a sizeable hole into it. Valina: Well... at least we'll know we wont run outta water in here. Geint sighs. =\ Arzel: We could always try Earendil's idea. Geint: Okay. Valina: Okay. Arzel looks around one last time. Earendil trudges up the tunnel. Valina joyfully follows. GMRune: The party returns to the larger lake. The cut marks seem to be forming something resembling a figure 8, with the exception of twin long streaks where the person making the marks apparantly went out of control. Kadan idly wonders if two catty figure skaters got into a fight here. Par: Um... this doesn't look like a map. Arzel: But it's in a definite pattern... hmm... Earendil: Well, it was just an idea. Arzel: These aren't just random scrawlings. Kadan: Why would someone make markings in such an obscure place? Earendil: It's been a while since I was tutored in math, but doesn't the figure 8 also mean infinity when lain on its side? Arzel: Quark might of.. Valina: Great... so we are stuck here forever? Arzel wanders around finding where the 2 long streaks are positioned GMRune: The two long streaks are coming out of the figure 8 like the shape was completed and then the person making the marks tried to stop but couldn't. Valina looks at the pattern... Valina: Hmmm... Par sits down on the path. "This looks like it could take a while." Arzel goes back down. Par gets up and follows him.. Geint decides to do the same. GMRune: The party returns to the smaller chamber with the bluish frozen lake. Earendil follows. Arzel walks over the ice looking for something in it. Earendil decides to closely examine the walls. GMRune: The ice is thick and has no marking on it save the chipping Valina made earlier and Geint's little melted spot. Geint: Well... there's a bunch of stuff we could do..... we could attempt to draw a figure 8 down here..... we could go back up and see if anything changed..... GMRune: The walls seem to be solid, though there are little pores in them. Arzel looks up at the roof. GMRune: The ceiling is relatively low in here. Kadan was able to reach the roof with his hand. Earendil pokes at the ceiling with his sword. Arzel examines the roof for anything unique. GMRune: A stalactite falls down from Earendil's sword and makes a small chip in the ice below. GMRune: The roof doesn't seem to have anything remarkable about it other than its numerous little stalactites. Earendil: If one of you will lend me a couple of starlights, I'll try the Red Dragon spell on the ice. Geint: I have one. Kadan: I've never been in a place like this before... Earendil: Thank you, Geint. Arzel gives one to Ear. Geint hands one off to him... then looks at Arzel. "Hm?" Earendil takes them both and uses them. "Thank you." Earendil: Alright everyone, head back to the tunnel entrance. GMRune: Earendil gains 40 MP. Earendil heads for the entrance. Geint nods and back off. Arzel goes the the entrance. Par scoots behind Arzel. ~Rein is already in the tunnel. Earendil's form starts to glow red. He raises his hand and throws the might of the Red Dragon at the ice. GMRune: Earendil casts Red Dragon Anger! The ethereal image of Geint's adult form appears above him and hurls a crash of giant flaming meteors at the small, seemingly insignificant frozen lake! GMRune: The ice evaporates in a rush, then settles into a hot spring. A massive white beast rears out of the melted waters and attacks! GMRune: --------end session--------
