The sea breeze is less noticable here and the air is much calmer than by the shore. The village is composed mostly of small huts, though there are a few structures that are large and square enough to be called houses. Faun turns to look back at the party. "Well, we're here. Unless you need anything else, I'll leaving you now." Earendil: Thank you. Rein waves. Faun points at a cluster of the larger huts. "Those are all the stores. The large ovalish one next to them is the tavern. You might be able to get any information you need over there." Faun flushes and bows to the party. "Good luck!" Faun leaves. Rein nods significantly at the shops. Earendil: Feeling an itch to shop, Rein? Ayeye looks over at the shops and leans against Zara's Spear. "How long will you guys be shopping for?" Rein nodnods. Earendil: All right, let's go then. Earendil heads for the weapon shop. GMRune: The party enters the weapon shop. The clerk inside rushes over to great them. Clerk: Hello, here's a list of our inventory. "How much will you give me for this Flash Sword?" Clerk: 42 S Earendil: Then I'll sell it, and give me a Knight Sword too. Rein looks at the arc bow thoughtfully. GMRune: Earendil sells his Flash Sword and gets a Knight Sword. Geint waits behind Earendil, flittering slightly above and behind his shoulder now. Geint shows her tiger claws. "I want to sell these and buy those claws over there!" GMRune: Geint sells Tiger Claws and buys Lion Claws. Rein: Hey Kadan, do you think you could show me how to use one of these? Rein points at the bow. Kadan: Eh... I'm not much of an instructor. Kadan oogles at the axe displayed on the counter, though. "Er... wow. That's a nice piece of axe." Rein: Oh, okay... Clerk: Would you like that, sir? Arzel sells his tiger claws and buys lion claws. GMRune: Arzel sells Tiger Claws and gets Lion Claws. Kadan: I most certainly would! How much would you give me for this granite-edged one? It's in surprising good condition considering the use it's been through. Clerk: I'll give you 44 S for it. Kadan: That's good enough, I suppose. GMRune: Kadan sells Earth Axe and buys Great Axe. Kadan scratches his chin. "Let's make the trade then." Rein looks at Earendil. Rein: Hey, Earendil, do you know how to use a bow? Earendil: Sorry Rein, but I never trained with the archers. Rein: Oh... Rein: Hmmm... Rein: Ayeye? GMRune: Par sells his Mystic Cane and buys an Insight Cane. Kadan goes out and nudges Ayeye. "Hey... I'm thinking the road ahead will be kinda dangerous. There's a nice set of metal nails in there I think you'd do well with." Ayeye: What Rein? Rein: Do you know how to use a bow? Ayeye shakes her head. "No." Rein: Oh... Rein: Okay. Rein looks at Par. Ayeye thinks for a moment. "Of course, that has never stopped me before..." Rein: C'mon Par, you've gotta be able to teach me how to use a bow. Par scratches his head. "Well... I know a little bit. Basic training and all, but I'm not a very good archer all in all." Kadan: Ayeye, those claws looked mighty shiny and laceratey! I think you'd look good with them. Ayeye shakes her head and holds her Spear tightly, "No! I have my weapon!" Rein: Could you teach me? I think it could really help, since I'm always in the back and stuff. Par nods. "Okay. I can't promise anything, but I'll try." Rein: Cool! Rein runs in to buy a bow. Par: Uh... heh heh... don't get your hopes too high up... Rein isn't listening. GMRune: Rein buys an Arc Bow. Earendil proceeds to the armor shop. Arzel follows Ear. GMRune: The party heads over to the Armor Shop. There they are greeted by Clerk2 and given the inventory. Rein shows Par his new bow. "He said it was a really good one," Par: Hehe... that's good. :) GMRune: Speed Bracer (*) +11 DP Dodge% +8, React +5 96 S GMRune: Silver Shield (**) +14 DP Dodge% +9 92 S GMRune: Granite Shield (***) +17 DP Dodge% +11, *Earth 152 S GMRune: Silk Wrap (Geint) +13 DP Dodge% +7 80 S GMRune: Amber Robe (*) +24 DP MgE +15, *Heal Litany 196 S GMRune: Silver Armor (**) +30 DP 120 S GMRune: Silent Mail (***) +42 DP *Quiet 208 S GMRune: Fuzzy Coat (Geint) +28 DP 112 S GMRune: Jewel Fillet (*) +10 DP Wis +7 68 S GMRune: Ceramic Helmet (**) +11 DP 44 S Geint hangs out. Rein: And it COMES WITH extra strings. Cool, huh? Earendil: Clerk, how much will you give me for this steel armor and splintmail? Par gets a small sweat drop. Clerk2: 53 S. Earendil: Take them, and give me the Silver Armor and Ceramic Helmet, please. Ayeye: Oh! Kadan looks at the Amber Robe and can't help but wonder if some god somewhere has Phantasy Star influence. Ayeye suddenly drops her backpack, moves the bush out of the way, and starts digging through it. Ayeye pulls out her old armor and approaches the clerk. "Would you buy this?" Kadan holds his chin while examining the items. GMRune: Earendil sells his Splintmail, Steel Armor, and buys Silver Armor and Ceramic Helmet. Geint: Uhhmm... and then after Ayeye... I'd like to sell my furry and wrap things to buy new furry and wrap things. They've got my name on it! =D Clerk2: Sure. Kadan: You know, since I am basically the bodyguard for all of you misfits, would a Granite Shield and Silent Mail be too much to ask? GMRune: Ayeye's Silver-Lined Leather Armor sells for 30 S. Ayeye bows. "Thank you." Ayeye goes back to her backpack and starts pulling out other things, "What about some gate passes, or a couple of funny orby things, or a journal, or this weird thing with the writing on it?" Arzel: I'd like to sell my steel armor and buy an amber robe please.. GMRune: Arzel sells Steel Armor and buys Amber Robe. Clerk2 looks at all of Ayeye's stuff. "I'm afraid I can't buy any of that. I'd never be able to resell it." Kadan notes a complete lack of resistance. "Very well. Vendor, mayhap I can trade in this Plate Mail and Steel Shield for a Silent Mail and Granite Shield?" Ayeye frowns. "Oh... well, it may come in useful later anyway..." GMRune: Kadan sells Platemail and Steel Shield and buys Silent Mail and Grantie Shield. Kadan: This is groovy! GMRune: Rein sells his Steel Armor and buys Silver Armor. Earendil sells his Brass Helmet. GMRune: Earendil's Brass Helmet sells for 14 S. Arzel: I'll buy a Jewel Fillet. GMRune: Arzel buys Jewel Fillet. Arzel sells his brass helm too. GMRune: And sells his Brass Helmet. Geint looks at her semi-giant acorn, not sure if she should sell it as she had become fond of it and all of its simplicity. ;b Geint decides she'll wait and see what the item shop has. Earendil heads for the item shop. Geint flies after Earendil. Par sells his Cool Robe and Pointed Hat and buys an Amber Robe and Jewel Fillet. GMRune: The party is greeted by the Item Store clerk and given the inventory list. Rein: What does a starstone do? Earendil: I'll take a Lucky Charm. Clerk3 picks up one of the bluish black stones and holds it up. "If you hold it up and concentrate, it'll dissolve and form a magic barrier over your whole party." GMRune: Earendil buys a Lucky Charm. Par: Anyone need anything else? It not, maybe we should head over to wherever it is we're going next. Earendil: Give me two Jasmine please. GMRune: Earendil buys two Jasmine. Earendil: I'm done, anybody else? Geint shrugs. Ayeye: Nope, let's get going! Clerk3: Thanks for shopping here! Earendil mutters something about lack of silverlights. GMRune: The party heads back out of the item store and into the little collection of commerce in the village. The tavern is nearby. GMRune: A few kids play and run through the rough unpaved streets as the party idles. Ayeye starts tossing a Dark Orb from hand to hand. "Where do we go next?" Earendil: The tavern I guess. Earendil heads for the tavern. Geint flies after Earendil. Arzel follows, like usual. Ayeye follows Earendil to the Tavern. "Do you need a drink or something?" GMRune: The smoky air of the tavern is dusky, thick, and drying to the throat. It seems as though the chimney is malfunctioning. Either that or the windows don't ventilate very well. There are a few people sitting at the bar, but otherwise it's fairly vacant. The locals eye you somewhat suspiciously through bleary eyes. Rein looks at the tavern sign, shakes his head, sighs, and enters. Earendil: After all that we've recently been through, I need to sit down and gather my thoughts. Ayeye waves cheerily to the locals. Geint nods. GMRune: Ayeye is greeted by disinterested stares. Arzel draws his hood up over his head. Earendil takes a seat at a vacant table. A waitress makes her way over to Earendil. "Can I get you anything?" Earendil: A mug of your best mead, please. The waitress heads off and comes back with a large foaming mug of golden mead. Earendil: Thank you. Waitress: You're welcome. That'll be 5 S. Ayeye approaches a nearby local and smiles brightly. "Hello!" Geint hmms. Earendil hand the waitress 5 S. Geint glances around. Rein watches Ayeye nervously. As usual. Geint feels a flying bunny would get more questions than answers, and goes over to Arzel and chats with him. The local looks back at Ayeye. "What do you want?" The local looks like he's expecting an answer from Ayeye. Ayeye: Well... err... I just arrived here from... that place... across the ocean... Anyway, I guess I am sort of a tourist. Any interesting history to this place? The local downs his mug of ale. "There's that crazy white dragon around here. Everyone's heard of him." Earendil stares at nothing as he drinks his mead. Ayeye: Crazy white dragon? Geint looks up slightly and tries to retain her chuckles... The local nods. "Yup. Everyone's decided he must be the nuttiest critter ever to be graced by Althena. He's always building giant ice castles on the mountains, playing bowling by throwing giant snowballs at albino baboons. That sort of thing." Geint nods as if to say, "Yup, that's him." Ayeye: Weird... Ayeye: Where exactly does he do this? Local: You're not the first to think so. The local shrugs. "His cave is located a ways to the south, a little southeast. But no one can get inside it. It's just too damn cold to go more than a few paces without freezing." Ayeye: Actually, on second thought, I don't think that makes him any nuttier than the red dragon... Earendil chuckles. Local: He's a very visible dragon. You'd think something that sacred would stay hidden away. Course he's been gone for a few months now. It's been silent lately. Ayeye: He's gone? Where did he go? The local shrugs. "Either he's taking a hell of a nap or he's trooping around somewhere other than here. Beats the heck out of me where he's gone." Ayeye: Great, I come all this way and he's not here! Why can't anything ever be easy?! Local: The warlocks probably scared him off. They're doing some great ceremony or whatever in their manors soon. Ayeye self-conciously covers the serpent bracer. "Right, the warlocks, it's always the warlocks. I guess it is all right though, I won't have to trek through one of those annoying dragon caves." Geint looks up. Kadan: Annoying dragon caves... Kadan gives an odd glance to Earendil, then turns away, sulking again. Par: Something wrong, Kadan? Ayeye takes a seat and continues talking to the local. "Why are you here?" Kadan seems a bit awkward in the crowded surrounding. "Nah, don't worry about it now." Rein munches a stale pretzel. Local: I'm drinking, what to you think? Geez... you're making my beer go sour. Ayeye: Why are you drinking? Earendil: Ayeye, stop pestering him and have a drink. The local glowers and refuses to answer Ayeye's question. Ayeye quickly stands up and walks away. "All right, fine then, I'll leave!" The waitress moves out to serve a new table where a newcomer has just sat down. The newcomer is completely cloaked and its features cannot be seen. The local says nothing. Earendil finishes his drink and looks at the newcomer. The newcomer seems to sense Earendil's attention and shifts position so that the opening of its hood is facing him. Arzel follows Ear's gaze to look at the newcomer. Ayeye sulks with Kadan. Rein totally misses the sulking. Newcomer: Do you have a problem? The newcomer's voice sounds feigned and androgynous. Earendil: Do you? Arzel: No... Newcomer: Then why are you looking at me? Earendil: I can look where I please. Newcomer: And I can pierce out eyes where I please. Earendil: So you can. The newcomer shakes its head. "Hmph. Well, I didn't come here to be stared at." The voice becomes slightly more feminine. "I thought you'd be gone by now. There's a man I think you'd like to see at the warlock residence near this village. I think you should go there." Ayeye quickly gets bored of sulking and starts reading Yegaar's Incantation to herself. "...this doesn't look that hard..." Earendil: Why would we want to see the warlocks? Newcomer: Because. The warlock Garreth is there and he has something that your friend is looking for; a part of a pendant. The newcomer stands and begins to head for the doorway. "He plans on using it in some sort of experiment. I wouldn't wait to retrieve it if I were you." Arzel: Garreth.. Earendil's face momentarily becomes filled with the look of revenge. "And who are you to know so much?" The newcomer shrugs and looks back at the party. "I am very interested in what happens to the pendants. My fate is bound up within them." Its hooded gaze lands on Rein. "And take care of my brother will you?" The newcomer leaves. Geint: O_O Earendil: Brother? Geint looks at Rein. ;b Earendil: Rein? Rein: Ehhhh... Rein mumbles over a pretzel. "I don't know what she's talking about." Earendil gets up and goes to Rein. "Would you please care to explain?" Rein looks detached. Rein coughs. Rein: Anyway, don't worry about me. Maybe we should go. Earendil: . o O(At least your sister isn't out to kill you.) Par looks at Rein, then at Earendil, and wonders what happens next. Rein is just staring at the table. Earendil looks at the others. "Well, do you think we should follow her advice?" Par: It seems to have had some effect on Rein... Ayeye looks up from the journal. "Let's go for it." Rein: Look, don't worry about me, all right? Let's just get going. Par nods and pats Rein on the shoulder. He heads towards the exit. "Well, let's get started then." Earendil heads for the door. Rein's face darkens and he shrinks away from Par's hand. GMRune: The warlocks' manor are easily visible from everywhere in the village. They are the tallest buildings in the area and are situated up on a hill a good distance from the village itself. A small cobblestone path leads up to a set of walls separating the manors from the rest of the island. You're not certain at this distance, but you get the impression that there is some kind of carving on the walls. Kadan looks up at the oppressive manors. Ayeye walks up the small cobblestone path. Arzel walks up the path. Geint is on Arzel, so she goes, too. =b Earendil goes with the group. GMRune: As the party nears the walls they see that there appears to be an odd sort of graffeti on the walls. It's of a dragon with a fat butt sitting on top of the remains of a manor. Geint is still here and there talking to Arzel, but it is a seemingly very slow conversation. ^^; Earendil makes a wry face upon seeing the graffiti. GMRune: The drawing has been crudely slashed into the walls of the stone itself. Ayeye heads to the gate/whatever it is that leads to within the walls. GMRune: The gate is guarded by two warlock sentries. They seem surprised that commoners would just walk up here. Sentry: Who are you? Geint kind of slips into Arzel's hood fully before getting noticed. ^^; Ayeye: Hello... we kinda wanted inside... GMRune: The sentries both get exceedingly incredulous looks on their faces. Sentry: What makes you think you can come inside? Ayeye: Err... we have gate passes? Sentry: What gate passes? Ayeye pulls out the gate passes and hands them to the guards. "These." The sentry looks over them. "These say you can pass through the gates of Shelladon!" The sentry throws them back in Ayeye's face. "Now get out of here before we have to give you a thrashing." Ayeye: Oh, right. I don't suppose you'd take a bribe? The sentry points his polearm at Ayeye. "Don't press your luck. Leave!" Ayeye smiles. "Nice polearm. I've got an interesting little journal here..." The sentry pokes Ayeye's away with the tip of his polearm. If she doesn't move it'll be poking _through_ her soon. Ayeye backs up a little. "Hey! All right! But why can't we enter? I mean, how much of a threat could we be?" Kadan gives the sentry a dirty scowl. Sentry: This is private property! You hate us going in your homes, so don't claim you wouldn't understand! The sentry punctuates his words by hurling a globe of darkness magic at Ayeye's feet. Ayeye looks over to the rest of the group. "They won't let us in, shall we leave?" Earendil: Do we ever? Par chuckles softly. Rein: What about Geint using herbal breeze or something? Par: There's an idea... Ayeye turns back to the guards and shrugs. "It doesn't seem as though my friends want to leave..." Sentry: They'd better. House Erde will not be forgiving to those who refuse to obey. Ayeye: Isn't there anyway we could work this out, without resorting to violence. I'm sure there is something you want... Earendil: Yeah, they might farm us to death. Kadan: Earendil, we better watch out for their celery spears and radish bombs! The sentry glares at Ayeye. Suddenly he pauses, looking just past her. "Miss, what _is_ that hanging out of your backpack?" Arzel snickers quietly at Earendil's comment. Ayeye looks back. "Where?!" Earendil: Oh, and their dreaded Beet Bolas. GMRune: Ayeye sees the bush panting. It slurps her face. Geint isn't even close to paying attention. ^^; Ayeye smiles. "Oh! That's just the bush, he's friendly." Ayeye thinks for a moment. "Or maybe he's a she..." Sentry: The bush? It's an animate bush! Did someone animate it for you? Ayeye looks confused for a moment. "No... it came to us that way..." Sentry: Hmm... we might be persuaded to let you at least look around the grounds if you give us that bush. GMRune: A thought bubble appears about the sentry's head of planting the bush and getting lots of little animate bushs. Kadan: I didn't realize there was such a demand for pet bushes... Ayeye raises Zara's Spear threateningly. "NO! You can't have the bush!" Earendil: Ayeye, let's not be unreasonable. The bush doesn't seem fazed in the least. Ayeye speaks through clenched teeth. "I am not being unreasonable! Who knows what they will do to the poor thing!" Earendil: They're farmers, they'll probably plant it! Kadan looks at the bush. "I'm not sure the world's jerky reserves could handle a whole generation of those critters." Sentry: We may be in charge of the natural resources of Caldor Isle, but we are still warlocks, remember that! The bush sticks its tongue out at Kadan. Bleh! Rein: I don't think you'd want an animate bush. Ayeye: They'll probably do nasty things, or try to breed an army of them or something! The bush then proceeds to eat up the Gate Passes from Shelladon. Rein: What if it taught the others to walk, and all your crops just upped and left? Sentry: It could be worth the risk if we could evaluate such an obviously tame creature. Now will you hand it over or not? Ayeye: No, I will not! Rein: You're playing with fire, here, sir. The bush burps as it finishes off the Gate Passes. It pants happily. Earendil: It's just a plant! Kadan whispers to Ayeye. "Let's hand him over... he'll eat all their jerky reserves, then days later when the soldiers are weak and demoralized, we can storm the mansion!" Ayeye gives Kadan a nasty look. "No, they'll probably dissect him, or mutate him with that evil magic!" Earendil: Ayeye, the last time you got in the way, Valina was killed. Kadan: That was un-called for. The sentry listens to all the bickering with a look of disinterest. "Well, since you obviously won't let it go, get out of there before we throw you out." Ayeye turns and walks away from the sentries. GMRune: The party follows Ayeye back down the hill. Earendil raises his voice. "Ayeye, why didn't you just give him the damned bush?" Ayeye glares at Earendil. "Why didn't you just leave Valina dead?" Earendil: You should've been the one to die. Ayeye: Or maybe you, you seemed ready to give up the fight anyway! Par: Umm... before the two of you get any further in this argument... could you stop it? We really should find a way inside the manor without tearing each other apart first! Earendil: Are you stupid? We were right on the front steps of a warlock mansion with who knows how many are inside! The less fights, the better. Arzel sits down on a nearby rock. Ayeye: Appearently not as stupid as you. We did not get in a fight, did we? Par feels like he's being ignored. Earendil: And we didn't get inside either, did we? Arzel turns to look at Par. "Don't worry, let them get it out.." Ayeye: Well, since you seem to want to give someone up to get in, how about giving them Valina. I'm sure some of them would love that! Par sighs. "I hope so." Par sits down next to Arzel. Earendil yells, "Half-breed! You have no respect for human life at all! You'd sooner give the life of a woman up instead of a bush!" Earendil turns his back to Ayeye and looks out into the distance. Ayeye: I have plenty of respect for life! Apparently more than you! Earendil refuses to listen. Ayeye mumbles something about finding the real Dragonmaster and turns to look up at the Mansion. GMRune: Because of Earendil and Ayeye's arguing partway down the hillside from the warlock manors, it was difficult to hear anything in the surrounding area. Consequently it is no surprise when sudden shapes appear from the foilage around you and the party is ambushed... Geint: Hi Arzel. Arzel: Hello... Geint: So, what do you think? Arzel: About what? Geint: About anything... Arzel: I don't like this place... Islands aren't my thing... I can't stand the smell.., Geint nods. Geint: Ah. But you like my cave, right? ^_^ Arzel: Yea... it was nice... Geint: Hmm. *thinks* Arzel: What are you thinking about? Geint: I'm not sure. ^^; I'm trying to think of something else to say. Arzel: *nod* Arzel: I'm not one for conversation myself... Geint: Geeze... when Ayeye wants information... she wants information. O_o Arzel: Why does she always have to draw attention to herself? She's going to get us killed one of these days.. Geint: It doesn't seem like she can help it. But yea, she sure does seem to do things like that without fail.. =\ Arzel sighs. "Of course it won't matter if we die... we'll just get resurected again..it feels to me like life is pointless now..." Arzel: ... Geint: ...Dragons aren't supposed to do that often. I guess it's our luck that they have been able to do as much as they... we... have. We need some luck at least to combat against all of the stuff that ends up going wrong... *sigh* Arzel: Hmm... Rein looks pretty upset... Geint nods. "Yea." Arzel: Something from the past comeing back to you... isn't the best feeling... Geint bites her bottom lip... but all she can really do is kind of nod and sorta say, "I... yea." Arzel: What's done is done... I'll get my revenge one day.. Arzel turns his head slightly to look at Geint, then quickly turns it away... Geint sort of says very very softly. "...I hope you do..." Arzel: ...Geint...ahh..nevermind.. Geint: ...? Arzel: Don't worry about it... Geint: Okay. Geint worries about it, but acts like she just totally dismissed it. ;b Arzel sighs quietly. Geint blinks a few times, and tries to gather herself back together and look out of Arzel's hood to see what's going on. Geint: ...What an odd conversation I've decided to go back to hear. O_o Arzel makes that noise people do when they quickly exhale. "What did you expect with Ayeye?" Geint: ...That silly bush... Oh well. Silly or not, he doesn't deserve to be handed off to a bunch of warlocks. Arzel: Nothing deserves to be given to the warlocks... Geint does a short, fast nod. "I agree!" Arzel: Hmm... everyone is going to argue now. *sigh* Geint: -_- Geint: Oh gosh. Worse part is that Ayeye is right. ;) Arzel: This is bad... how'd I ever get mixed up with these people?.. Geint: Same way I did. =\ Geint: Oh... I don't want to try and resolve this today... I don't want to go out there and get mixed up with everyone... Geint pushes a bit back into Arzel's hood. Arzel turns to look at you. "But you're a dragon... I'm just some weak kid from Vane..." Geint: Yea, well I'm not a very old dragon or anything like that. I'm not Quark... or Shade... or Canth.... .......And this is the second time you've implied that I should be big and brave and that you're useless in the same sentence.... because you're not, and I'm not. Geint: o O (Geint... don't cry.......) Arzel: I shouldn't be here... There is no way I can live up to the expectations of being part of the Dragonmaster's group... Geint: ...Your timing in saying that.... *pauses as if listening to the conversation for a second* Arzel: What? Geint: Well, it's not like this group is acting like what you seem to belive a Dragonmaster's group should be like right now... Arzel smiles slightly, but that disappears quickly. Arzel: Thanks Geint... Geint: ...Hmm? Arzel: No one's ever... believed in me before... Geint: ...I find that hard to belive. Arzel: Why? Geint: Well...... Geint: It's not like you're some useless baggage to the party. In fact, it seems almost that you try a bit *too* hard. =\ With all of the studing.... Geint: You really don't have to. Arzel: *sigh* I... well... I know what the White Dragon Wings do... and well... I don't want to be totaly useless... Geint: Arzel... even without your teleporting you're just fine in this party. You're a better fire mage than the red dragon, you can realize more things that are going on than over half the party..... *Looks like she's ready to give more examples, buts stops herself, deciding that's enough.* Arzel: I've never felt useful to anyone before I joined this strange group... I guess... I just liked how it felt.. Geint hmms. "Well, you are useful...... and don't think you aren't!" Geint tries to act cheery and cute again. ;b Arzel patpats her gently. "Thanks Geint.." Geint: ^_^ Arzel smiles slightly. Arzel: Geint... I need to be... alone with my thoughts... Geint: *Blink* *Blink* Oh.... okay. Arzel: Sorry.. Geint peers outside of Arzel's hood to see if things have calmed down, "Don't be, Arzel. =)" and then hops down to the ground. GMRune: --------end session-------
