Planks line the ceiling, floor, and walls and there appear to be no ways in or out. Dayus glances around at you, making sure that everyone has arrived intact. Valina is still asleep in Earendil's arms... with no intention of waking. Earendil: Where are we? Rein: What good is a room without a door? Dayus shrugs slightly. "We're in a small room we of Protecoriate like to use for private reasons. So long as we are in here, no one else can come in; very useful to keep from being overhead." Arzel doesn't seem to care where he is, he is studying how Dayus cast the teleportaion spell. Rein nods. Earendil: This is very nice and all, but we have to get to Caldor. Valina moans a bit and turns a little... while in Earendil's arms. Ayeye: We, umm, did the scouting... If we tell you what we found, can you provide transportation to Caldor? Dayus nods. "Yes, I know. So, since you came to find me I assumed you did as I requested and looked into Nissa's affairs at Mertyl?" Dayus: Yes, I can. And you may be in luck. There is a ship leaving at dawn tomorrow. Kadan: We certainly did... Ayeye: It is a rather long story, I believe, is there anything specific you want to know? Dayus: Well... what was Nissa doing there and am I correct in that some of them may not be human? Ayeye takes a deep breath. "You are correct, they are not human... Both sides..." Dayus raises an eyebrow. "Both sides? Mertyl as well?" He smiles lightly. "That's very interesting." Earendil sighs. "I believe that Nissa is just using the other houses to obtain its goals." Ayeye: They are fighting over who is right. How to deal with... the past... Dayus: Hmm... That complicates things. I doubt I can bring this to my father's attention, but I'll see if I can point him in the right direction. Dayus: The warriors of Protectoriate do not appreciate being manipulated by any means. Valina just sleeps. Kadan: Are you more loyal to Protectoriate, or the Empire, Mr. Dayus? Ayeye: I doubt Nissa would like them knowing that, they seem quite powerful. Dayus chuckles. "It is difficult to say. Truthfully I have no immediately loyalties. I would not be speaking with you were I utterly loyal to Protectoriate, nor am I loyal to the Empire for the same reason. But... Lord Kahill is my father, so I suppose if I must choose one it would be my own house." Kadan: Then it is true... not all warlocks are mindless servants. Perhaps the same questioning of one's future that happened in House Magus is starting here as well. Dayus: Lady Mileria was an eloquent speaker. When she chose to make her thoughts known to me I could not help feeling somewhat sympathetic to her cause. It's a pity she was captured. Earendil: Indeed. Geint wakes up the sleeping Valina as Dayus talks. Valina tries to get the flying feather away from her... and ends up slapping Earendil! She is still asleep! Earendil: Hey! Geint: =\ Rein: I'm afraid the Empire makes itself an easy target for criticism Earendil: Geint, let Valina rest. Dayus: If you wish, you can spend the night here. You must be tired and you will have to get up early. Valina sleeps rather soundly for once. Ayeye: Are you sure it would be safe? Dayus nods. "No one can enter as long as people are in here, and if we leave we must leave as a group. Which of course means I will be stuck with you for the duration, but I can tell my father that I was out hunting you all night." Ayeye: I suppose that sounds good... GMRune: The party agrees to crash for the night and the small wooden room dims to near darkness. Earendil: Yes, we could use a rest. It has been quite awhile since we could rest soundly. Rein rolls up his shirt as a pillow and looks at the hard floor. GMRune: As the party sleeps, their hp and mp is restored. Valina sleeps soundly for once. :D Geint: Zzzzzzzzz... GMRune: During the night, Arzel and Dayus quietly discuss the finer issues of teleportation. Dayus offers Arzel some advice on increasing distance and finding more precise landing points. Tarrant sleeps. GMRune: Finally, the room glows with the brightness of daylight again and Dayus begins to rouse the party. It is now a few minutes before dawn. Valina still sleeps soundly. Kadan stretches and emits a hearty yawn. Par: Gee, Valina's been sleeping since the battle last night... Geint is still asleep. Earendil yawns, "But she actually seems at peace for once." Ayeye reluctantly gets up. "Couldn't we get another hour or two of sleep, that was great." Rein looks at Val, trying to figure out if he should be worried. Dayus shakes his head. "The Blaze 'n' Glory won't been at the docks anymore in an hour. I'm going to toss you in there more or less at the last minute so that the port authorities won't have time to question it." GMRune: Dayus gives the party a few minutes to get organized and coherant before teleporting them to the port. When the sky appears above you it is already turning a lighter shade of grayish blue. The sun is still below the horizon. Valina awakens a bit... Earendil gets up and gently picks up Valina. "I think that she will wake up when she wants to." Valina blinks her eyes. Earendil: Like right now. Valina: Ohhh... Ayeye feeds the bush something nearby, and probably edible. Earendil: Valina? How are you feeling? Valina: Umm... Rein watches Val closely. The bush yips and devours it ravenously. The moss vanishes with a loud *smack*! Valina: Who are you? And why are you carrying me? Earendil: I'm taking you back home, remember? Kadan tears off a tiny bit of jerky and offers it to the bush. Valina: Really? When did I leave home... I don't remember leaving home. The bush rustles and slurps the jerky right out of Kadan's hand. It burps. Valina: This is weird... I kinda feel like I am in a dream or something... Earendil: Valina, do you remember your brother's name? Kadan puts the jerky away and grimaces slightly as Earendil and Valina converse. Valina: Yes... Why wouldn't I? Geint: =\ Dayus looks at Valina with some concern but leaves the party to go off and negotiate with the ship's captain. Earendil: How about your age? Valina: Sixteen. Valina: Great, I lost... I generally don't give out information. ;P Sorry. Geint slowly wakes up. Valina looks at Geint, with a pink bow on her... Valina: Awwwhhhh, she is so cute! Earendil: You don't remember any of us? Geint groggilly paces around. Valina: Ummm nope... Valina picks up the waking Geint and *huggles* her. Geint: Huh..? What..? Hey, I just woke up. Valina: I guess I had better go home though... Geint: Hi Valina. =) Valina: Oh dear! You know my name? Valina: And you talk?? Geint: Hmm...? *blinks a few times sleepily* Ayeye stays near Kadan. "Shouldn't we leave? We have a deadline." Valina: I am really confused. Geint: o O (Oh great... what now...) Valina: Anyways... Can I go home, I am sure my family misses me. Rein looks around, nonplussed. Geint yaws in a cute manner. That's the only way she can yawn. =b Earendil: Don't worry, we'll help you. Kadan shrugs. "Yeah, I guess so. Whatever's happening, I suppose." Geint gets held by Valina. Valina whispers to Geint... "Who is that cute guy?" Arzel ignores the goings on and sits down to study his tome some more. Tarrant walks about the room streching his aching legs. Valina stands up... Geint: *whisper* Cute guy? Dayus returns shortly. "All right, the captain's agreed to take you. He's a little upset over the sudden cargo, but he can take you." He offers the party a set of papers. "These will get you past customs once you reach Caldor. Now you'd better get on board before anyone notices you." Earendil gives Valina and Geint a questioning look. Valina: *whisper* The one with the blonde hair... *giggle* Geint: *Whisper* Oh. 'Course. ;b Who else. That's Earendil. Valina: *whisper* Hehe is he... umm attached to anyone? *giggle* Geint: *Whisper* ...I don't belive so! ^_^ Dayus waits for Valina and Geint to finish or for someone to take the papers. Arzel stands up and takes the papers from Dayus, and nods his head in thanks. Rein sighs and shakes his head at Val. Valina giggles and looks at earendil and smiles. Valina: Oh, okay... let's go home. :D Arzel heads off towards the docks, not waiting for the others. Dayus: You have a few minutes still, but it's best to get going. I wish you luck. I can't arrange for your voyage back from there, but if you get the White Dragon Wings you won't need that help. Earendil smiles at Valina. "Allow me the honor of escorting you to the ship." Valina: Ummm, thank you. *blushes* Geint flies away from the two. Valina's cheeks are as pink as Geint. Geint catches up to Arzel. =b Earendil takes Valina's arm and heads for the docks. Valina looks like a normal teenage girl, for once :D all blushing and smiling and everything. Dayus waves farewell to the party as they leave. Then the warlock gestures and disappears. Geint sits on Arzel. =b Valina: Hmm tell me... umm sir knight... How did I get here? Geint talks to Arzel. Geint: How ya doing? Arzel: As good as can be expected. Geint: ...I feel so bad for Kadan. =\ This whole Valina-Earendil thing must be so unfair to him. Arzel: How's that... Geint: Hmm...? Don't you remember? The whole thing where that girl he liked was killed by a warlock and stuff? Geint: That's why he's moping around... Arzel: It was his sister wasn't it... Geint: I thought it was like his lady friend! Arzel: I don't remember. Geint: Well, I'm pretty sure it was his girlfriend, and it's driving me nuts watching Kadan squirm at everything Earendil and Valina say to each other. =\ Arzel: We all have to have our share of sorrow. Geint: That's true.. =\ Earendil: Um, you were found near the temple, without any recollection of how you got here. Ayeye waves to Dayus as they leave. "Thank you!" Valina: Really? Hmmm... Valina: That is so wierd! Earendil: The priest asked me to escort you back to Caldor, since I was already heading there. Valina: Anyways... you good with handling a sword? I am... kinda. I have been training for a while... perhaps we could spar. My brother and I always spar.. GMRune: The party boards the ship and are greeted by the captain. Several crewmen run about the ship, extinguishing the lanterns as dawn approaches. Valina looks and notices her raiper... Valina: Ummm... Earendil: I would like to say that I do the dance of the sword quite well, but I came no where near to the skill of my father. Valina draws her raiper... The captain speaks to you gruffly. "All right, so you're the ones the warlock wants? Hmph. Well, follow me and I'll lead you to your rooms. You can stay there, in the mess hall, and up on deck, but don't dally anywhere else! Tarrant realizes that he gets seasick rather easily. Valina: Why do I have this? Earendil: Oh yes, that was with you as well. Ayeye smiles innocently. "We will stay right where you say." Earendil: I wish I could answer you. Valina: This belongs to McDocmar... I shouldn't have this!!! Oh dear! I hope everything is okay! He wouldn't just give this to me and send me to a temple!! Rein decides to head up to the deck, rather than stay in the swaying cabin The captain nods to Ayeye. "Then see to it that you do. We'll be setting off in a few minutes once everything is stowed." Valina: This is so weird! Earendil looks at Valina. "Would you like to go up to the deck and view the ocean?" The captain tends heads off to tend to his duties. Ayeye looks for somewhere to go that she is not supposed to. Kadan folds his arms and looks over the water, looking somewhat distraught again. "Earendil, are you going to be ready to do what it takes when we reach the third Dragon lair? You seem to be a bit preoccupied." Earendil: Kadan, I've visted two dragons already, how hard can the third one be.? Valina: Dragon's lair? What dragon's lair? Earendil: . o O(Uh oh, think fast.) GMRune: In a few more minutes the boat lurches forward and the ship sails out to see just as the first rays of sunrise pass over the mountains. The lithe craft proceeds to slide out with the tide. Earendil: Geint, would you care to come over here and tell Valina why we are going to the dragon cave. Geint: .....huh? Geint: Oh... Geint: One second. Valina stands next to Earendil... Geint flies over to Valina. Geint looks at Earendil. Geint sighs. Geint flies over to Earendil. Valina: Okay, I have my teacher's sword... I don't remember where I came from... your talking dragons. I am so confused! Please tell me something that is going on! Geint whispers, "What do you want me to say!!" Earendil whispers back, "I don't know, try anything but the Dragonmaster part." Geint: Well, Valina... =\ We have to do some stuff before we get you home... don't worry. You won't get hurt or anything..... Ayeye wanders through parts of the ship... Valina looks at Geint... Rein watches the spray off the bow. Valina: I just want an inkling of whats going on. Geint: We have to go talk to some dragons. Geint flies over to Valina. Par chills with Rein near the bow. He has never been out to sea before. Tarrant spies the crow's nest and decides that it would make a wonderful place to take a little nap. Valina: Well... why am I here then? Earendil: The most that I can tell you is that we are on a mission. Valina: Why am I with you, with my teacher's sword? Geint: .... The bush wanders out of Ayeye's backpack and takes up roosting on the capstan, much to the annoyance of the crewmen. Tarrant climbs up to the nest and looks around. Earendil: Valina, I'm . . . I'm afraid that you'll have to discover the truth for yourself. Valina sits... Valina: I don't like the sound of that... Geint: =\ Earendil's voice trails off. "I'm sorry . . . " Valina cries. Geint flies back over to Arzel after all of that it resolved. Earendil sits down next to Valina and puts his hand around her. Geint: *land* Valina feels a little better. Valina: I... just am so scared. Everything was so normal... until now. GMRune: The voyage continues at a leisurely pace. Since the warlocks installed their own regime the existence of pirates have been utterly wiped out. The ships can sail freely and safely, with the only possible adversaries being competitors in trade. Earendil: Nothing is the same for any of us. Valina: I am normally so happy... Valina: Very happy, all the time. Valina: Oh well, I am sure there is a good reason for all of this. Earendil: Let's at least enjoy this moment of happiness while we still have it. Valina looks up at the sky. GMRune: The ships suddenly rocks as though it has crashed up against a large rock. Earendil gets up. "What was that?!" Valina: Whoa! Valina tumbles a bit... but lands on her feet. Geint flalls off of Arzel. Geint: Oof! O_o Ayeye runs up to the deck. "What happened?!" Tarrant stands up and looks around. A crewmen dashes up to the deck from below. "The ship's taking on water!" Earendil: How far are we from Caldor? Arzel: What happened? Valina: Oh! This is nice. Arzel goes up on deck. Geint gets up. ;b The crewman looks at Earendil like he's crazy. "We're only hours out of port. It'll still be a few more days!" Valina: At least I can swim... Geint flies. Valina: But not that far. Earendil: Damn! Tarrant feels a twisting in his stomach and pukes off the edge. Not noticing Earendil below. Arzel wonders where everyone is... GMRune: The ships shudders again and everyone can hear the groaning of wooden planks being forced apart. Crewmen scatter about the ship and the captain yells for someone to take care of the beasts in the hold. Valina: I don't like this... Rein: Beasts? Earendil looks at the multicolored chunks of something fall just inches from his feet and looks up. "Tarrant!" Arzel tries to get everyone together so he can teleport them back to port. Captain: Yes, there are monsters trampling around the hold! Valina: Ummm... beasts in hold... hmmm, I don't like that. Tarrant: Ohhh, I don't feel so well. Sorry. Arzel starts down to the hold. Ayeye: The hold... I knew there was someplace I hadn't made it too yet! Valina: I had a bad feeling about this trip anyways. Rein follows Arzel. Ayeye rushes after them. The bush squeals and holds on tightly to the capstan with its roots. Valina: Well, I guess this is training... Earendil: I wish it was, I wish it was. GMRune: The ship lurches again as the party arrives in the cargo hold. The watter swirls around your knees and you see several small shark creatures sawing their way through the cargo and the flooring. A massive fleshy arm sticks out from the floor where a massive hole as been bashed in. Earendil grabs Valina's hand. "Don't worry, we'll get through this." Earendil: What the . . .! Ayeye: Not good... Valina: :P Valina: I'm not worried! Rein: Gack. Ayeye attempts to impale a nearby shark creature with Zara's Spear. Rein whacks at the arm with with staff. Valina: Dealing with my brother in the morning is uglier than that thing! GMRune: The shark creatures thrash their tails as the party enters the hold. They swim through the shallow water towards the party. At the same time the fleshy arm moves, widening the hold with a spray of seawater. The beginnings of a larger body slides in as a giant starfish crawls into the hold! Earendil smiles. "Hmm, you're quite a brave one, aren't you?" GMRune: The flooring cracks still wider and the giant creature moves fully into the hold. Earendil: I'll be fine once we dispense with these monsters. GMRune: 120 damage to each Sawshark! 99 damage to Megastar! GMRune: Valina begins to sing. She utters a shrill, Ultrasonic, note at Sawshark #1! Valina: Ahhhh!! GMRune: 46 damage! Valina collapses after singing that note. Valina: Ah... did I do that?? Valina stands up... GMRune: Arzel casts Pulse Ray! Par casts Fire Arrow! Tarrant casts Thunder Bolt! They combine to form Heat Shock! Earendil puts his hand on valina's shoulder. "Are you okay?" Valina: Yea... I'm fine. :D Valina: I'll be better when we fry these fish. GMRune: Sawsharks are weak against thunder and strong against fire! (Hence no change in damage. :P) 1077 damage to each! GMRune: Geint falls! Geint: .... Geint: *flop* GMRune: Earendil uses Power Strike! He dashes forward with blinding speed to impale the Megastar before phasing back to his original position. GMRune: 238 damage! GMRune: Arzel, Par, and Tarrant cast Heat Shock! Three rays of energy combine to blast the crap out of the Megastar! GMRune: 1170 damage! GMRune: Megastar regenerates 100 hp. GMRune: ----------round 4-------- Kadan watches the crap arc over the horizon on its mystical journey. GMRune: Ayeye attacks the Megastar! GMRune: attack 1: *critical* 1 damage GMRune: attack 2: *critical* 1 damage GMRune: Kadan attacks the Megastar! GMRune: attack 1: miss GMRune: attack 2: miss GMRune: Rein casts Calm Litany! Kadan wonders if he could merge Ayeye's hit% with his atk to make a super bionic clone. GMRune: Kadan gains 134 hp, Rein gains 134 hp, and Earendil gains 134 hp. GMRune: Megastar uses Aqua Funnel on Tarrant! GMRune: 48 damage! GMRune: Earendil uses Power Strike! His sword pierces deeply into the Megastar's fleshy hide! GMRune: 247 damage! GMRune: Arzel, Par, and Tarrant cast Heat Shock again! The Megastar is utterly fried for 1026 damage! GMRune: The Megastar dies! GMRune: --------victory!------- Geint wakes up slowly. Valina wakes up rather upset! Valina: How dare that thing do that to me! GMRune: Valina and Geint wake up with 1 hp. Geint: Gnyh... same way it dares to do that to me... Earendil: It's a monster, it has no rhyme or reason. GMRune: The party earns 415 XP, 231 MEXP, and 140 S. Rein drags the injured people away from the seawater. Geint walks around bloody. ;( Valina: I hope the rest of the journey goes smoothly... Valina walks with Geint. GMRune: Now that the monsters are gone, crewmen come out of hiding and begin fixing the hole and forming a chain to bail out the water. Arzel: I hate to inform you, but we're still taking on water... Earendil: What are we going to do about the boat, I'm not a sailor nor a carpentar. Earendil: Oh. Arzel: Nevermind... Tarrant: Who knows water magic? Crewman: This'll slow our journey down, but it looks patchable. If we're lucky we'll come across one of the warlock patrol ships and they can help us out. Valina: Well... standing here isn't going to help. Valina goes and helps the crewmen bail out the water. Rein casts heal aura. Ayeye gets out of the crew's way. Geint, too beat up to fly, manages to get herself on the closest person, Valina. Arzel gets out of the water and starts to ring out his robe. GMRune: Everyone gains either 121 hp or goes to max. Earendil: Valina, come up to the deck. I think the sailors can handle it. Valina: I can manage. Earendil: I can't let you do it yourself then, what kind of a knight would I be if I let a girl do all the work. Earendil helps with the bailing of water. Valina: :P Valina: I'm just trying to get us moving faster. Valina: Sitting on the deck and crying isn't my idea of a good time. GMRune: The ship lists slightly from all the activity in the hold. Par helps plug up the hole by freezing the seawater into ice around the breach, but the repairs will still take time, and will likely not be complete. Geint walks over to Arzel, not liking the ice. The captain shakes his head. "At this rate we'll keep the ship from sinking, but we can't keep sailing like this all the way to Caldor. We'll have to call in a patrol group." Earendil: . o O(A patrol group may mean trouble for us.) The captain heads out of the hold and back on deck. Geint: ...Why can't we ever have a peaceful ride? Just one little boatride... Valina looks at Earendil... "What's wrong with a patrol group?" Par: Things are never that easy in times like these. Earendil: Oh, um nothing. Geint: Yea, I know..... but at least once...
