Lunar: Magic Empire Session 56 Log ============================================================ Cast of Characters: Rune as "GM/Narrator, Par, Canth, and Robed Man" Seath as "Earendil" GORN as "Rein" Hahn as "Kadan" Aes as "Valina" Mia Ausa as "Geint" SOLaike as "Tarrant" Dyne as "Arzel" Ayeye as "Ayeye" ============================================================ GMRune: ------game on------ GMRune: The pegasi carry the party over the fields of white stuff and over the edge. As the ground suddenly appears beneath you, you realize that the whiteness you walked on it actually the stuff of clouds. Rein coughs up a little of said white stuff. GMRune: The eight pegasi carry the party from the forested area east of Shelladon and over the mountains to the southeast. Again the plains surronding Killith come into view. Slightly to the north lies Canth's cave. GMRune: The pegasi duck down for a landing as soon as they cross over the river guarding the entrance to the blue dragon's cave. Their landing is swift, yet graceful. And they come to a halt not far from the cavern's edge. Arzel gets off the pegasus. Geint flies over to the group. Ayeye jumps off of the pegasus and heads toward the cavern. Par helps yank Valina's body off of the pegasus. "I hope this works, cuz even though she doesn't weigh much, it's still too much!" Arzel: Lead the way, Geint. Earendil: Let me carry her. Geint: It should work... Geint nods and smiles to Arzel. ^_^ Ayeye: Somebody carry her! We have to hurry and save her! Geint leads the way. Geint: Everyone ready? Earendil takes Val's body from Par. Rein hops down and peers into the cave. GMRune: As the party dismount the pegasi and enter the cave the winged horses turn around and fly back to their home. Par: I think so, Geint. Arzel: Oooh... I guess I get to be the human torch again... *glows* Geint: All right then... let's go! GMRune: The party follows Geint through the darkened cave. Arzel's glow once again lights the path before you. Thankfully the layout of the cave is similar to the first time you visited and thus Geint knows the way through. GMRune: The party hears a set of scuffling sounds as they reach the halfway point to Canth's lair. They seem to come from some sort of dry, clothlike thing. Geint's ears perk up like bunny ears. =b Geint: *whisper* I hear something... Arzel looks around. Ayeye nervously fiddles with Zara's Spear. "Why can't the dragons keep these places clean..." Geint: ;b GMRune: Nothing can be seen beyond the glow of Arzel's light besides the mosit walls of the cavern. The dry chafing sounds continue. Kadan: What's alive in here...? Arzel: Well, let's keep going... Arzel: Just be careful. Geint nods. Geint continues on. Arzel follows. GMRune: The party reaches a division in the tunnels. The path to Canth's lair lies to the right, but the sounds, now even louder, are coming from the left. Arzel: Uhh... do we want to know what's down there? Tarrant wonders what that sound is. Earendil: No, let's just head for Canth's lair. Arzel nods and heads towards Canth's lair. Rein nods agreement. Ayeye: I agree with Earendil, we don't have time to goof around. GMRune: The party continues along the path to Canth's lair. With Geint's assistence, you finally reach the archway leading into the blue dragon's resting place. Rein: I hope this goes well... GMRune: You can hear a heavy snoring coming from inside. Its intensity causes the entire chamber and its surroundings to shake ever so slightly. Ayeye stays near the rear of the group, looking for nasty, sneaky, monsters. Arzel: Sounds like Canth's sleeping... Arzel slowly enters the chamber. GMRune: The snoring breaks abruptly and you hear the sound of a heavy body shifting over. Canth yawns as the party comes into the room, exposing two rows of teeth still sharp despite their age. "Eh? Visitors so soon?" Canth: You people again? Arzel: Yes... we seem to have a problem. Kadan stays near the back. Geint: Sorry, Canth... but we have a request of you. =( Earendil steps forward with Valina's body in his arms. "Canth, you must help her." Geint: We're sorry to bother you. But we're very sad. =( Canth looks down at Valina's body, nodding with understanding. "I see. Her soul has fled. What do you expect me to do?" Ayeye speaks up from the back, "We were told you could...bring it back?" Arzel: The pegasi told us, you could help her... Canth: Ah... I see. They don't particularly approve of the methods we dragons use, but that is why they exist beneath Althena's rule as well, to help us see things from other points of view. Canth: So, you wish me to raise the dead? Why, I must ask you, is it so important that I do so? Life is not a precious thing if it can be earned so easily. Arzel turns to Earendil. Earendil: If I can't have her back, my life has no meaning. Geint looks at Canth... Geint: Please..... tetrarch..... we can't save anything without her...... I don't mean to imply this on you, but this is importaint. =\ Canth cranes his serpentine neck to one side. "I see. And the would-be Dragonmaster is useless without the life of a single woman?" Tarrant thinks of asking Canth to bring back his dead uncle Bill. Earendil looks up at Canth. "As old as you are, and you can't understand. Valina has helped to fill up a hole in my life that has been nawing away at me for over three years. Even being a dragomaster can't fill up that hole." Kadan turns away into the shadows and kicks some pebbles around, giving an occasional glance to Earendil. Canth brings his head down close to Earendil, peering intently at him. "Love, is a very precious thing. It molds us, it nurtures us, and it allows us to grow. I will bring Valina back, but you must guard her as you never have before. The trials ahead will tax the both of you, and you two must be willing to sacrifice what you can to save this world. Freedom and love are always protected with a price. Do not let her die again or I can do nothing." Earendil's eyes fill with tears. "Thank you Canth, I promise to protect her as if she were the whole of Lunar itself." Geint smiles really really big! ^_^ Canth: All right. Lay her body on the ground. I will call Lunar's magic to me. Rein watches with reverance. Geint: Thank you Canth! And it's more than Earendil's love!! ^_^ She's always been such a good friend! =D Arzel looks around from under his hood. Canth waits patiently for Earendil to put Valina's body on the ground. Earendil places Valina down and steps back. GMRune: Canth's chamber thrums with energy and the aura of the blue dragon flares in an azure light around him. Canth lowers his head to Valina's body and breathes a thick mist. The sapphire glow covers her body. It clings to her a moment, then vanishes, enfusing her soul back into her. GMRune: Valina begins to stir. Valina blinks. Geint: ... Geint: V...V... Earendil walks up slowly. "Valina . . ." Valina: Wha... what happened? Geint: VALINA!!! =D =D Valina: Geint? Earendil embraces Valina and starts sobbing uncontrollably. Valina: Earendil? Canth pulls his head back to let the party surround her. He smiles a broad yet toothy grin. Valina: Canth...? Valina: What happened... Canth bobs his head to Valina. "You are all right, little one. The wound of your body is healed. Perhaps someday the wound of the soul will be as well." Arzel stands where he is and doesn't say anything. Ayeye watches, enthralled, from the back... Kadan moves away a couple steps, unable to participate in Earendil's newfound relief. Valina: ... Earendil says between his sobbing, "I thought I had lost you forever." Rein smiles, looks at the ground, and leans back against the wall. Valina: Lost me? Where whould I have gone? What happened? Please tell me.. Valina can't remember much. Earendil: Valina, can't you remember, you . . . you. . . Valina: I? I what? Earendil has a hard time bringing himself to say it. Geint: You were kind of killed by that rat bastard Garreth. ^_^ Arzel: You were killed by Garreth Valina... Valina: Killed... I, I was killed? Geint: But you're back. =b Geint: Now don't die again. ^_^ Tarrant smirks by the sheer fact that she has no recollection. Arzel: When our plan to rescue was botched, Garreth, well... killed you. Earendil holds Valina a little closer as tears still fall from his eyes. Valina: Earendil... Earendil.. I'm ok! Help me up will ya? Earendil gingerly lifts Valina up. Valina has a hard time standing... Valina gets better. Earendil: Don't worry, I'll support you. Geint flies around Valina's head in a hyper manner. "Oh Valina Valina Valina!! =D I have so much to tell you!!!!!!!!" Valina: Really Geint, well let's talk while we leave this place... we have a journey to finish Geint flies up to Canth. "Thanks again!!! ^_^" Rein bows to Canth as well. Canth stretches his wings and looks Geint in the eye. "You are welcome. Please try to be more careful though. I'm gonna be feeling this tomorrow morning." Valina still doesn't believe she was dead. Geint: Oh. =\ Geint: Sorry. =b Geint: We didn't want her dead! ;b Valina: I... I don't wanna be dead either. Earendil: Canth, I don't know where to start, I haven't shown myself to be much of a dragonmaster, yet you do this for me. Canth smiles. "It's all right, Geint. I know you're still young, but it's never to early to start watching out for yourself and your friends." Geint: I know. ^_^ Canth: Earendil, you have the makings of a Dragonmaster in you. Your words and the convictions you hold can make you a fine Dragonmaster. I and the other dragons must see to it that they do. Geint: And I know Earendil will be a great dragonmaster because of this!!! Ayeye slides up to the front of the group. "Canth? Is it true? Have you been protecting us all along?" Geint flies to Valina's shoulder. Canth shakes his head. "I have not. But the other two, the lovebirds; they have been more active in your affairs than even I approve of. They aren't children anymore, but they insist on venturing out to fight instead of staying in their caves." Geint: Are you okay? ^_^ Valina: Yea... a little dizzy, but yea. Ayeye gives Canth a confused look. "Who?" Geint: Shade and quark. =b Canth nods. "Geint is right; Shade and Quark." Geint: Hehe. Quark always acts kiddish, anyways. ;) Arzel bows his head slightly to Canth, and turns to the group. "Shall we be on our way?" Ayeye: Do you know why they do it? Valina: Quark... Canth: The danger that threatens us will touch all of Lunar. They feel waiting for a Dragonmaster is not enough. They must take matters into their own hands. Valina thinks she has heard that name somewhere, but alas, she can't remember where Geint: ...I don't see what's wrong with that...... oh well. I guess it's because I really am young. =b Will I get used to sitting in my cave, too someday? =\ Canth: There's not much wrong I suppose. But if they aren't in their caves, how can a potential Dragomaster expect to find them? Geint: That's true. =b Ayeye: You could call it a test of creativity... Earendil suddenly snaps out of his elation about Valina. "What about Shea? She has the Armor of the Black Dragon." Geint: Oh well. I don't think it's too big of a deal..... as long as they don't get themselves killed! Canth chuckles. "Yes, I could. And Earendil will need that creativity or a good deal of luck to get them. Even I don't know where they are now." Valina sits... Ayeye pauses and thinks for a moment. "Canth, why do you let those nasty monsters and things roam around your cave?" Canth chuckles. "Monsters are good deterents these days. They help keep the warlocks away. And they don't _dare_ attack me." Earendil thinks he's being ignored. Canth: I'm sorry, Dragonboy, my mind is working a little slow right now. Just woke up, you know. And then to expend that energy... I wasn't aware Shade had given out the Black Dragon Armor already. Geint starts talking softly with Valina while still paying attention to the conversation, popping in when needed. Geint: Hey valina!! =D So nice to see you again. ^_^ Valina: :D Valina: So nice to be seen. :D Valina: Happy I am. Geint: I hate garreth!! ;( He made me beg Canth to do stuff! Valina: :( Geint: Oh boy! I'm getting smarter, too. ^_^ I think it's because I've been spending so much time with Arzel. =b Geint: I've started to help figure out puzzles!!! =D Valina: :D Cool. Geint: Yup! Arzel is so great. ^_^ Valina: :D Geint: Talk to you later. ^_^ Valina: Okay. Earendil: Getting it back could be a problem, she's much more powerful than I. Canth: She shouldn't have in fact, not until Geint had chosen a possible Dragonmaster. Canth: True. But if Shade gave it to someone, then you may not be able to take it from her. The armor must be freely given to be worn. Canth: Is there anything else you need to ask me before you go? Rein kicks at a pebble. Valina: ... Par: I don't suppose anyone knows how we're supposed to get back to Shelladon after all this? Ayeye: Walk? Arzel: I could try to teleport us :) Geint: ^_^ Valina: ... Par: I'm not sure how much I want to wind up in a mountain, Arzel... but if you think you can do it... Arzel looks at Canth. "You wouldn't happen to know a faster way to learn how to teleport would you?" Canth shakes his great head. "I'm sorry, but learning the way you are is the best you can do in these days. Perhaps if someone ever set up a formal magic school things like that might become easier." Valina can't concentrate very well... so she sits and waits... Earendil goes over to Valina and takes one of her hands in his. Arzel nods. "Thanks anyways." Valina: Humm? Geint flies off Valina's shoulder. Earendil: Nothing, I'm just glad to have you back. Arzel: well, I don't think I'll be teleporting us all to Shelladon, unless we want to go visit Ayeye's ancestors... Geint sits on Arzel's shoulder. Valina: I want to go home... Canth: If you truly must hurry, I can send you to the surrounding wilderness, but no closer than that. You will still have a couple miles to walk. Ayeye: It sounds good to me, let's go! Arzel nods. "That'd be helpful." Geint: Thanks, Canth! You're the best. ^_^ Canth: All right. Take care then. I doubt I'll see you again for a while, but find Quark and Shade if you can. Canth lifts a claw and gestures. The party is surrounded in darkness and you dematerialize. A fraction of a minute later you reform in the path from Vane to Shelladon. The peaks of the city can just barely be seen in the distance. Geint starts to talk quietly with Arzel. Geint: Wow! Valina's finally back! I'm so happy! ^_^ Arzel: Yea... Geint: Thanks for telling me that we'd revive her when she died so fast. =) I would have been almost as bad as Earendil if you didn't stop me before I started. ^_^ Arzel: ... Geint: Hehe. I can get all upset and teary-eyed easilly... but you already knew that anyways. =b Arzel nods slightly. Arzel: ...It was my fault she was killed... Geint: What?? No it wasn't! I wouldn't have given that to Earendil, either! Arzel: But *I* would of if it was anyone else but Garreth. :( Geint: =\ Geint sighs. Geint: Well..... the point is that she's here now...... and she's alive....... Arzel: I've seen too much killing in my days... I wish I could just go hide under a rock or something, but I feel I'm needed here... so I stay. Geint: I feel the same way. =( Arzel: I don't know why I'm needed... the only thing I can do is teleport, and I can't even do that too well... if only I'd stayed home and not gone after that stupid staff... Geint: !! Don't say that!!! You're the smartest person in this group! Arzel sighs but doesn't say anything more... Tarrant: Ahh... Finally back on familiar ground. Par starts on the path towards the city. "Come on, we'd better get going." Valina: Okay... Geint looks up. "Yea!" GMRune: The party sees a group of robed men on the path between them and the city. They appear to be probing the area for something. The men aren't wearing any warlock symbols that you can see. Kadan follows after Par, still somewhat distant from the group with a low brow and something of a sneer on his lip. Rein: Who's this? Valina: Oh... Earendil: Wait. Tarrant, would you be so kind as to help me out with a couple of healing spells? Tarrant: Hmm... Sure Ayeye notices the robed men, and smiles slightly... GMRune: Tarrant casts Recovery Litany on Earendil. GMRune: Earendil recovers 259 hp. Valina feels to weak to fight. GMRune: The robed men look towards the party. One of them babbles to his companions. GMRune: Tarrant casts Recovery Litany on Valina. Valina is healed to full hp! Valina: ... GMRune: The robed men approach the party with a wary demeanor. Ayeye keeps walking toward the city. "Are you guys coming?" Arzel goes with Ayeye. Geint noddles. Earendil continues forward, but stays close to Val. GMRune: The men move to intercept the party. Kadan is too wrapped up in glaring at the group to take much notice of the robed men. Robed Man: Who are you people? Valina just stands there looking pretty. Ayeye rolls her eyes. "Who are you?" Kadan: Wrong question, pal. You're asking for a *long* story. The robed man snorts with annoyance. "I don't care about your life histories. Just give me some names." Rein looks edgily at the group, hoping to avoid another brawl. Ayeye: What if we don't? Arzel: . o O (I could teleport us all out of this if I wanted) Robed Man: Look don't make this any harder on us than it is, we're searching for some people that helped Lady Jera. She has a message for them. Valina: Valina... I'm Valina. Earendil gives Valina a strange look. The robed man looks at Valina. "Valina... yes, that sounds right. And you match her appearnace too." Tarrant: Ignore that girl, she is a little out of it. Valina picks up a little wild flower from the grass. Ayeye frowns. "She is a lot out of it..." Earendil gets a worried look on his face. Valina sits down and plays in the grass... The robed man snarls. "No, I think not." The features of him and his companions change from that of men to the heads of boars. "I think we've finally found you. The surviving members of House Flysse have not forgotten the havoc you caused!" Arzel continues to gaze at the ground silently. Earendil: Valina, are you okay? GMRune: Two plant creatures spring up from the ground behind the wereboars as they attack! GMRune: ---------round 1--------- GMRune: targets: 4 wereboars in front and 2 mindweeds in the back Earendil draws his sword and stands in front of Valina to protect her. GMRune: Ayeye attacks Wereboar #1! Her enchanted spear cuts through the monsters supernaturally tough hide! Ayeye shakes her head sadly. "Don't you people ever give up?" GMRune: attack 1: *critical* 9 damage GMRune: attack 2: *critical* 13 damage Valina sits and plays in the grass, like a child. Kadan closes his eyes and whispers into his palms, then points a finger at Ayeye. GMRune: Kadan casts Blur Litany on Ayeye! GMRune: Ayeye's Dodge% is up by 37. GMRune: Earendil's blurs into several different outlines of himself, each of which strike a separate enemy! GMRune: Each Wereboar takes 1 damage and each Mindweed takes 120 damage! GMRune: Wereboar #1 attacks Earendil! GMRune: attack 1: 41 damage GMRune: attack 2: 20 damage GMRune: Wereboar #2 attacks Kadan! Kadan raises his shield. GMRune: attack 1: 17 damage GMRune: attack 2: 8 damage GMRune: Wereboar #3 attacks Earendil! GMRune: attack 1: 59 damage GMRune: attack 2: 44 damage GMRune: Wereboar #4 attacks Kadan! Geint resists! GMRune: Mindweed #2 uses Vine Flail and smacks Arzel with a long tendril! Geint: =\ GMRune: 172 damage! Geint: =( GMRune: Valina de-equips her rapier and begins to sing a little village ditty. GMRune: Rein casts Calm Litany! Every gains 114 hp or is filled to max! GMRune: Geint casts Rage Slash! She twirls into a dive to strike her way through each of the Wereboars! GMRune: 1 damage to each! Valina: La lepperki ki da! La lepperki ky da! Valina: laaa Valina: da de daaaa Earendil: Valina? Valina is singing! Valina: do Raki do! GMRune: Arzel casts White Heat! Points of brightness explode around his enemies! Geint: O_o Geint: Oh yea. =b Valina: Do nakira ka ki dola! Geint: Okay... how much you wanna bet the mind weeds are immune to magic attacks? =\ Valina: Da viwag da ma kelati da! da viwag kaki dosono ma... dala... dala... GMRune: Wereboars each take 130 damage. Mindweeds take 116 damage each! Geint: Guess not! ^_^ Tarrant shoves a cookie into Val's mouth. Try to sing now! Geint: O_o Valina: do la... ti *crunch* dO!!! GMRune: Par casts Ice Slivers on the Wereboars! GMRune: Wereboars takes 251 damage each! Valina: donashi la... GMRune: Tarrant casts Spore Burst on the row of Wereboars! GMRune: Wereboars each take 373 damage! GMRune: All the wereboars fall! Geint: O_O Valina puts a little flower in her hair... unaware of the battle around her. Earendil tries to keep close to Valina. GMRune: -----round 2-------- GMRune: Ayeye and Kadan begin a waltz across the battlefield. Earendil looks at Ayeye and Kadan with a contorted face. Kadan leads. GMRune: Earendil raises his sword in front of him as uses Power Strike! He executes a perfect crosscut through Mindweed #1! GMRune: 269 damage! GMRune: Mindweed #1 uses Vine Flail on Arzel! GMRune: 159 damage! GMRune: Mindweed #2 lashes out with Vine Flail on Par! Geint: =\ GMRune: 46 damage! Kadan tries to dip Ayeye, but falls flat on his face, trying to dance with one of her illusions. GMRune: Valina continues her singing, providing the music for Ayeye and Kadan's dance. Earendil hopes Valina doesn't go into a macarena tune. GMRune: Rein casts Calm Litany! Each of the party members regain 106 hp or go to max! GMRune: Everyone except Earendil and Arzel are now at max. GMRune: Geint twirls into a dive and uses Rage Slash across the Mindweeds! GMRune: Each Mindweed takes 192 damage! Geint: Yaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaa!!! ^_^ GMRune: Mindweed #1 dies! Geint swirls back to her spot gleefully! Valina: La doki to ra Valina: ki esh ti, no banawa GMRune: Arzel casts Fire Breath! He sucks in a deep breath and blows a gout of flame at Mindweed #2! GMRune: 160 damage! GMRune: Par casts Ice Dagger and hurls a shard of ice at Mindweed #2! GMRune: 195 damage! GMRune: Mindweed #2 dies! GMRune: ------victory!-------- GMRune: Ayeye, Kadan, and Valina return to normal. Ayeye shakes her head, and tries to orientate herself. "How did I get way over here?" Kadan: And what is this rose doing in my teeth? Earendil approaches Valina. "Valina, are you feeling alright? Par: Actually, I think you two look pretty cute dancing together. ^_^ Valina: Yea, I'm just fine. How are you, Earendil? Valina: Like my flower? Is it beautiful? Valina points to the flower in her hair. Earendil: Not nearly as beautiful as you. Valina: Thank you. Valina continues playing in the dirt. GMRune: The party earns 412 XP, 400 MEXP, and 174 S. Earendil: . o O(Maybe her strange behavior will wear off eventually.) Par shakes his head. "The warlocks aren't very forgiving. I hope we don't see anymore of Flysse's minions for a while though." Earendil looks worried again. Valina: Can I go home now? Kadan: Why were they travelling around here? Why not in some Flysse stronghold? Par: They were probably looking for us. We made it pretty obvious that we were heading north of Flysse, and we made no secret of leaving Vane. Ayeye holds her head wearily. "I don't want to meet them again... I can't remember what happened..." Earendil: . o O(Maybe I should just humor her for now) Earendil: Yes, Valina, we are going to you're home. Rein: We need to be more careful... this is getting ridiculous, getting randomly pursued... Valina: Thank you. I want to see my mommy again... I really do... and my papa! and my brother! Oh my brother! He is so nice and brave! Par: We might be able to loose some pursuit if we get off the mainland. Commoners aren't supposed to be able to travel to Caldor right now, so they might think us trapped here. Earendil: . o O(Please Althena, don't rob her of her sanity just as I get her back.) Valina: I want to be with everybody again... I am sure they are waiting for me! They always have . GMRune: The gates of Shelladon are now just a short walk away from the party. Earendil takes Valina's hand. "Now hold on tight, you don't want to get lost in the city." Valina: Okay.. GMRune: The party reaches the gates to Shelladon. Several guards stand around the entrance, barring entry. Valina: I don't want to get lost in the big city either... It would be scary. GMRune: -----end session------
