Lunar: Magic Empire Session 50 Log ============================================================ Cast of Characters: Rune as "GM/Narrator, Par, the bush, Guard, Warlock/Damon, Young Man/Jarrek, and ~Valina Seath as "Earendil" GORN as "Rein" Hahn as "Kadan" Aes as "Valina" Mia Ausa as "Geint" SOLaike as "Tarrant" Dyne as "Arzel" Ayeye as "Ayeye" ============================================================ GMRune: --------game on------- GMRune: The party exits the Portmaster's office and reentered the streets of Shelladon near the oceanside. The surf crashes loudly against the rocks of the shore. Geint looks around. Geint sits on Arzel's shoulder. Ayeye: Anyone know how to get to...Murtle? Earendil: Not I, I have never been there before. Arzel: I've been there... Arzel: That's where me Tar and Kaddy met... Par: Isn't that... where the Serpent Staff came from? Ayeye smiles wickedly, "I guess it doesn't hold fond memories then." Arzel: Yes Par, it is. Geint crawls into Arzel's hood and makes herself comphy. =b Arzel pats Geint. Geint: =) Kadan dusts his hands off, clapping them together loudly. "So, we're off to Mertyl, huh?" Arzel: Yup. Par nods. "I suppose. I wonder what else the warlocks could want from there." Arzel: Probably trying to find another way to activate the Serpent Staff. Par: Maybe. But they don't... no, wait a minute, they do have the tome. They don't have the pendant bearers though. Arzel: *shrug* There might be another way... Earendil: Well, we should hurry then. Tarrant: I agree the sooner we get there the better. Arzel: Yes, lets get moving. Par: Yeah. Care to lead us to the gates, Ear? Earendil: But of course. Earendil starts leading the party through the streets of Shelladon GMRune: Earendil takes the party towards the southern gates; the main entrance and exit to the city. Kadan rubs the back of his neck. "We better not run into more trouble with these Protectoriate guards." Par: Well, Lord Dayus did give us those gate passes. Those should help. Arzel nods. Ayeye: So, umm...what's in Murtle? GMRune: Before long the once mighty walls rise at the edge of the city. You see the large gates guarded by a small group of warlocks. There are few travellers entering the city, not even a merchant band. Even fewer people are leaving. Earendil: Well, here are the gates. Arzel: Who's got the gate passes? GMRune: A guard waves down the party as you approach. Tarrant looks through his robe. "I don't have it" Ayeye waves back to the guard. "Hi!" Guard: Hello. Planning on passing through here? Geint hides herself as best she can... Par draws his hood over his head. Arzel: Ayeye prolly has it... Ayeye: I think so, this is Murtle, right? Guard: Murtle? ... Are you feeling all right? Earendil: . o O (Uh oh, Ayeye's gone off the deep end.) The guard looks more carefully at Ayeye. "Are you feeling all right?" he repeats. Ayeye: Yeah, why? Guard: Because you seemed a bit lost a moment earlier. Anyway, if you're planning on leaving the city I'm going to need to see some passes. Ayeye: Passes, we have some of those, I think, somewhere... Arzel thinks Ayeye has 'em. :P Ayeye starts digging through her backpack and pulls out something. "Are these the passes?" The guard looks them over. "Yea, that seems to be them. You may pass." Arzel leaves with Ayeye. GMRune: Par, Valina, and Rein follow after them. Kadan sticks close to Ayeye. Earendil follows them out the gate and whispers, "Goodbye again Shelladon." Arzel walks along studying his teleportation book. Par: Careful, Arzel. Don't step in any ditches. Arzel: I can walk and read at the same time... did it a lot when I was an apprentice Ayeye walks along. "Anyone want to tell me how to get to this town?" Arzel: Follow Kaddy... He knows where it is. The bush sticks its top half out of Ayeye's backpack and pants with an air of contentment as the party travels through the countryside. Geint peeks out of Arzel's hood. GMRune: The path to Mertyl travels to the southeast, taking the party through a lush forest, still unspoiled by the warlocks. Less than average wildlife peers out at you from behind wide leaves, and you suspect more than a few of those bushes aren't the normal sort you'd find in someone's garden. Geint looks at the animals. Kadan feels more comfortable in the wilderness, away from the den of warlocks for a short time at least. GMRune: Up in a tree, a squirrel sniffs a nut between its paws and then looks down at Geint. It chitters softly. GMRune: The squirrel hurls its nut (cuz it's a rotten one) so that it smacks Earendil on the head. Earendil: Hey! GMRune: The squirrel squeaks and skitters off to the other end of the tree. Tarrant: Hey Earendil do you need healing now? Earendil: No, I'll be fine. Kadan: I'm not too eager to get back to this strange little village. It seemed... haunted when I first came on my hunt. Earendil: What exactly happened to you guys anyway? Kadan: I can't exactly recall with much accuracy. A circle of stones protected the burial caern of the Serpent Staff, and the animal spirits within attacked me. I saw Arzel, Trevor, and Tarrant there, so I could not be sure who was to blame, or who was trying to get the Staff before I could get it for myself. Tarrant: As I remeber it, everything was going fine till Kadan jumped in and screwed up my plan. Ayeye: I'm sure your plan was screwed up long before Kadan got there. Kadan emits a subdued growl. Earendil: Hmmph. Maybe I should not have asked. Geint gulps. Par: Well, it could be necessary to know. After all, they at least had been there. Ayeye: Probably not... Are we there yet? GMRune: As if on cue, the party sees the trees break and a small idyllic village loom in the center of several patchs of farmland. The village itself is surrounded by a low wall, which has been blackened and burned just recently. The fields are dry and parched, and tents bearing the standards of House Nissa camp all around the village. Ayeye: Is this it? Earendil: Oh, beautiful. GMRune: There do not appear to be many warlocks here (as in perhaps between one and two hundred), but certainly at least ten times as many needed for a common village of this size. Several battles seem to have taken place already, judging from the condition of the landscape, but with the exception of a few charred spots, the village beyond the walls looks surprisingly healthy. Ayeye: Anyone have a plan? Par: I think that's usually Kadan's department. Kadan: Wow... Tarrant: Maybe they know something that we do not. Kadan: Nissa already has their hooks into this place. Don't they already have their stupid Staff? Par: There must be something else then. Lord Dayus said that there was something odd going on. Ayeye: Maybe there's something special about this place... It could have something to do with the... non- humans... Earendil: With warlocks, that could be almost anything. Ayeye looks back at Kadan and starts walking toward the village. "I guess there's only one way to find out." Par: Er... Ayeye, are you sure the frontal approach is such a good idea right now? Earendil: The direct approach Ayeye? Geint walks out of Arzel's hood onto his shoulder. Par envisions the party getting squashed like little bugs. O_o Geint looks around. Kadan: I should have remembered this place better, but I did not expect to be here long. Surely there's some way to sneak in. Ayeye: Why not? Kadan: What exactly is our objective here, Par? Need we only discover their motives? Par: Dayus mentioned something about them not being human. I think he wants some proof or something. Earendil: Not human? Ayeye scans the camp for warlocks near us. GMRune: The nearest warlocks are standing by a small purple colored tent. There are two of them guarding either side of the opening flap. Geint listens quietly. Geint decideds it's much safer for her to go back in Arzy's hood and does just that. Arzel: I could teleport us into the city from this this distance... Kadan tries to stay close to the ground while scoping out the area. Ayeye: Or, at the very least, you could teleport us somewhere. Earendil: Arzel, are you sure that we would end up there and not somewhere else? Arzel: Well... I'm not totaly shure... but I know how to do it... Arzel: Last time was just a... fluke. Ayeye points at the warlocks guarding the tent. "That's probably a good place to start. If they want to keep us out, I'm sure we want to get it." Par: I hope so, Arzel. Arzel looks at Par. "Me too. :)" Geint: Be careful, Arzel! Arzel: So... should I teleport us in... or do we have a better plan? Geint: I think you can do it, Arzel. =) Arzel: Thanks, Geint. Geint purrs in a dragon-kitty-bunny sort of manner. =b Arzel is waiting for other people's approval first... Ayeye takes a last look at the guarded tent. "Well, alright..." Earendil: Go ahead Arzel, but if we end up in Kargeth's bedchamber, you'll not hear the end of it. Arzel is more worried about Kaddy ripping his head off for using magic on him. ;) Tarrant: I seem to remember you practicing with Geint while she was sleeping.. And she turned out OK.. Tarrant: I say teleport us. Geint: ....? Arzel looks at Tar. "Hey, shutup about that :)" Geint: ....Whaaa? O_o Geint: ..Practicing... oh nevermind. ;b Arzel laughs. "Just kidden' Geint" Arzel: Okay, here it goes. Geint: Whee! Arzel attemps to teleport the group into the city, trying for an alley way or something where a lot of people aren't Geint braces herself happily. GMRune: The party dissolves in an instant. Then everyone feels a sudden jolt as though they slammed into a wall while running. After the expected rebound, the party materializes where they started. Earendil: Um? Arzel: Well.... that wasn't a total disaster... Arzel looks around. "Everyone still here?" Par rubs the side of his head. "I think so..." Ayeye holds her head in her hands. "Ow! That hurt!" Geint: =( Arzel: Well... that wasn't my fault... something's keeping us out ~Valina: So what now? Ayeye's direct approach? Kadan: Hey! If we get killed using a direct approach, then I want to take credit for it! Ayeye shakes her head and looks for those warlocks again. "I suppose we need to find another way? Anyone have a Nissa disguise?" Arzel shrugs. "I don't see another way" Geint stuffs herself more in Arzel's hood so she can hide. Par oogles at Kadan. O_o Earendil: I don't want to get killed at the moment. Arzel hands Geint a piece of fish. Ayeye: We won't be killed. Even if they try, we outnumber them! Geint: ...I think I could wait on that, too. Par: I don't think any of us do. Par: Ayeye, we do? Geint munches on the fish, trying not to get any on Arzel. Arzel: And I could teleport us away... I think Geint wuzzles Arzel. Ayeye: Yeah, we have Kadan, and Tarrent, they're invincible! Par: You do have something of a point there... Par: But the rest of us aren't. Arzel pets Geint. "Good... uhh... dragon." :) Arzel: I see no other way, but the direct one... Ayeye frowns slightly. "I'm sure we'll be all right..." GMRune: The warlocks in the camp suddenly seem a little restless. A cloaked man emerges from the largest tent in the area. All the warlocks outside on duty stand taller and more ready as he comes among them. Ayeye: Ready? Earendil: He seems to be their leader. Ayeye hesitates slightly. "...Let's go." GMRune: The gait and motions of the warlock seem vaguely familiar, although as before, you do not know what his face looks like. Ayeye walks out of hiding towards the vaguely familiar warlock. Arzel: *mumbles* We're dead. The warlock lifts his hooded head to look at Ayeye. "You again. Daughter of Zara, what brings you here?" Geint: *Mumbles in her own kawaii way* No kidding. Geint: *Whisper* ...Or not.... The warlock's voice identifies himself as Damon. Ayeye: I... well... what are you doing here? Geint decideds to just keep quiet. Damon inclines his head towards Ayeye. "Getting rid of the rebels once and for all. It is what Zara would have wished." Ayeye frowns. "Really? You sure? I mean, what have they done?" Damon: I thought Zara had spoken with you. Remember? When our people were sealed they broke away from us. They fought against us. When we needed to be strong they turned against our ways! They caused us to war against each other when we needed to survive so badly. Ayeye: I guess... Err... how can you get rid of them? Won't there always be more? Damon shakes his head. "No, they are all here. They only rarely leave their village, this haven they have created for themselves. Remember, these are not rebels agaisnt the Empire, but rebels against our people." Ayeye: Oh! That's different, I guess... But, well, what exactly have they done? I haven't heard much about them, other than they are bad... Damon: They have discarded the ways of tradition. They create strife against us. They are the brothers and sisters who have turned against the rest of their family. Damon: If we had remained united perhaps our people would have endured these centuries far better. Earendil: Brothers and sisters . . . Ayeye: I don't know, you seem to have done quite well for yourself. Damon shrugs. "Perhaps. But we are only rulers of this Empire after centuries or work. And there are the others, the ones who remain trapped. Enough of history though. Dear cousin, would you join me in fulfilling Zara'a will?" Geint shifts a bit in Arzel's hood, trying to get comphy again. Ayeye bows to Damon. "Yes, I made a promise..." Par: Er... was she supposed to do that...? Geint gulps. Arzel: I don't know, Par... Geint: *Whisper* ~I don't like this.....~ Damon clasps Ayeye's hand. "I am grateful. Now, I think you should be properly outfitted for this coming battle. We'll be starting another strike in a few minutes..." Arzel: Me too. Geint nerviously hugs Arzel's neck. Arzel: Not to tight Geint... you'll choak me :) Arzel: I think we just sit back and watch Ayeye kill people... Ayeye: Properly outfitted? Geint: Arzel.... Arzel: Sory...that was bad taste Damon: Well, yes, you'll have to pardon me for saying so, but I think you could use a better set of armor. I think we have an enchanted suit of leather in your size. I'd hate for my new relation to fall in battle for lack of protection. Geint is shivering the tiniest bit. Kadan stands back, not wanting to distrub Ayeye. Ayeye: Thank you. Damon seems to smile. "I know you'll want to carry Zara's Spear with you though. She must think highly of you to give you its strength from beyond the grave." Ayeye: It would seem so, I only wish I can live up to the honor bestowed upon me. Damon: I'm certain you will. Damon leads Ayeye to the small tent she was looking at earlier. The guards step aside as Damon nears. "Just step inside here for a moment. I'll point out the armor and you can change in there." Ayeye steps into the tent. Damon follows her in. Geint: ...Is she... going to betray us? =( Arzel: I don't know, Geint... Earendil: I want to know why they are fighting the people in the villiage. Arzel: They seemed like a nice bunch of people when I was here. Geint: =\ Damon comes back outside shortly to wait for Ayeye. (inside the tent) GMRune: You see there are a tons of weapons and armor inside. The air inside the tent seems to hum with energy. Damon hands you the leather armor he promised and he also hands you something. It is an armband with the snake and dagger symbol glowing black on it. "So our people can distinguish you from those in Mertyl," he says as he leaves you. Ayeye puts on the Armor, but spends a couple of minutes staring at the armband before putting it on. Ayeye self-conciously holds the armband as she leaves the tent. (back outside) GMRune: Within the village of Mertyl you can see people coming out from their homes. A few of them are armed with pitchforks and spears, but they largely carry only their bare hands. A flame-haired youth nears the wall in the lead of the others. At his motion the other villagers stand ready. Kadan appears apprehensive. Earendil: They seem relatively harmless. Arzel: They're going to be slaughtered. GMRune: Ayeye emerges from the tent. She is wearing a lavender suit of leather armor, and even at this distance you can feel the magic rolling off of it. She holds her right arm where an armband has been placed. Through her fingers you can make out a blackish glow. Earendil: But after seeing a few battles in my lifetime, appearances can be deceiving. Arzel: They can't stand up against warlocks... they'll be dead before the warlocks even break a sweat... Par: We could try to help... Tarrant: I feel that magic is not her own. Earendil: Par, but help who? Kadan squints inquisitively. "... Ayeye?" Par: The villagers of course! Damon nods approvingly to Ayeye. "It suits you. Do you think you are ready?" Earendil: Then we'd be fighting against Ayeye. Perhaps we should just watch. Ayeye: I think so... Geint gulps. GMRune: Warlocks begin to gather into small units around the camp. Many of them emerge from the tents set around the village and the fields seem to be flooded with them. Arzel: We wouldn't stand a chance if we helped the villagers... look at all the warlocks Earendil: There must be something special about those villagers for so many warlocks to come and fight. If the villagers were as harmless as they appeared, then one or two warlocks could take care of them. Geint: =( Geint: B... but... Geint: I... ohh... =( Arzel: Yes, and what was generating that shield? The warlocks? Damon inclines his head. "All right." He raises his voice and magic must enhance it though it seems no louder than humanly possible for every warlock in the camp turns towards him. "Breathen, followers of Nissa! We make ready to defeat the traitors of Mertyl! This time we will not allow their defenses to stop us!" Tarrant: We must help them.. Ayeye: What defenses? Earendil: So many problems. If we help Ayeye, we may slaughter innocents. If we help the townpeople, we fight against Ayeye and will probably lose to the warlocks Damon: Their magic, of course. Remember, they are our kindred. Kadan looks at the ground and shakes his head. "I have no part in this conflict. I refuse to make an enemy today." Ayeye: Oh, their magic... GMRune: Tarrant casts a spell and a rain of thorns suddenly erupts over part of the camp, spiking Damon and some of the others, although Ayeye is unharmed! \ Geint: O_o Earendil: Tarrant?! Arzel looks at Tar. "Oh shit...we're dead now..." Damon hisses, and swipes at the thorns sticking out of his shoulders and arms. Ayeye stumbles back. "They can do that! They are powerful!" Geint: Uh oh... =( Damon glares towards the trees. "There are people in the woods! Someone take care of them!" Earendil: Hey wait! Maybe they don't know it was Tarrant who did that. Geint peeks frightened out of Arzel's hood. =( Arzel: Uhh... run! Earendil: Then again . . . GMRune: A small group of warlocks charges out towards the trees. Earendil: Arzel, now would be a good time for some teleportation! Arzel: To where?! Ayeye glances back at the woods. "How can you tell?" Geint: ...Away! Anywhere away!! Arzel: Okay... I'll try the teleport. Damon plucks out another thorn. "I am gifted for our people. So long as magic is activated near me I can tell who cast it and from where." Arzel trys to teleport us away. Ayeye: Neat trick... Damon: Perhaps. It nearly drove me insane when I was younger. Magic is always being used in Killith. It was difficult to filter out. Kadan tries to distance himself from Tarrant. GMRune: The party vanishes and reappears in a cluster of trees. A familiar squirrel chitters near to Earendil. Ayeye: Really difficult, I'd guess... Earendil: Quick, does anybody see the warlocks? Arzel glances around for warlocks. Damon: It's bearable now. Come, let's join the ranks. Arzel: Now what are we going to do? Ayeye: It's about time! GMRune: The party doesn't see the warlocks, but you get the impression that they'll search closer to your part of the woods given a little more time. Earendil: Let's get out of these woods. Arzel: Lead the way. Geint: ...That was cool, Arzel! ^_^ Par: What about Ayeye though? We can't leave her there! She's about to fight those villagers. Arzel: Thanks, Geint. Tarrant: We can't leave them there to die. Earendil: And what do you suggest we do, there are too many warlocks for us to handle. Kadan: Blast! I wish there was some way to get her away from there, but she doesn't seem like she wants to. Par: Well... Maybe if Arzel teleported us close to the village rather than inside it. Then maybe we could help out. Earendil: They seemed to have found us rather easily before, and we where hiding in the woods. I would wager that they could find us as easily again. Arzel: I don't see how that would help... the warlocks could still get us. Par: But we could run into the village then and try helping them. Kadan looks at the floor. "Who would we help...?" Earendil: Somehow, I don't think those villagers are as helpless as we think they are. Look at the shield around their village. Arzel: The warlocks will have the shield down in a min... I could teleport us into the village. Par sighs. "Well, we could just try stopping this stupid fight. Then Ayeye should have no reason to hate us." Tarrant: Sounds like a good plan to me Earendil: Try if you must, but Damon does not seem to be a reasonable individual. Par: :P Maybe we could knock him out or something. Arzel: So... where am I supposed to teleport? Kadan: We need to decide what our objective is. I'm not going to spill any blood today. We get Ayeye and get her out of there, agreed? Earendil: Par, you know what large battles are like. Once they start, they don't stop until one side or the other wins or is dead. Earendil: Kadan, and that raises another question. What if Ayeye does not want to leave? Par: Yes... I know. But I'm tried of the mass killings. That one raid I did with the warlocks... the one that killed the Mage Knights, was more than enough for me. Geint sniffles. "...I almost miss the bush already." Earendil: Seems that twice we were in battle before Par, once at Shelladon, and during the raid against the Mage Knights. Arzel looks around waiting for a decision to be made. Par smiles wrily. "I was on the wrong side though." Tarrant: Hmm... I wonder if the bush could help us... Par: How so, Tarrant? Tarrant: Perhaps I could trade places with the bush... Pretty advanced teleportion though... Arzel: I can't do that Tar... Par ponders that for a moment. "That's an awfully crazy idea..." Par: I think Kadan's idea has some merit though. We should teleport in, get Ayeye, and get out if possible. We might not be able to reach her any other way. Tarrant: Well, what are other posiblities? Arzel nods in agreement to Par. Arzel: Bet she'll be unhappy. Earendil: And as I said before, if she doesn't want to leave, then we should not force her to. Par: Maybe we could try talking with her before teleporting out again. Kadan: I'm worried that Damon figure may have some influence over her. Arzel: We'll have a split second when we teleport in to teleport out again before Damon senses us. Tarrant: Arzel could go in by himself, beam in next to her and beam both out.. Arzel: That I could do... but Damon is powerful... he could be able to stop my teleportation Par: Damon doesn't really know you though, Arzel. How could he tell the difference between one person teleporting from another? There are bound to be lots of people teleporting during the battle. Arzel: True... but he's probobly sticking close to Ayeye, and will notice if she starts to teleport Par: We can't just sit here though... Arzel: Yes, I know. Geint: =( Par: He probably won't kill us if Ayeye's with him. :| Geint hugs Arzel again nervously. Par: She'd stop him. Geint: ...We hope... Tarrant: That is if she is not under his control. Arzel: I could teleport us into the village, and we could decide what to do from there... Earendil: Then if we do go, let Kadan do the talking. He has the best relationship with her out of all of us. Par nods. Kadan: I won't let anybody hurt her! I don't care who she's involved with. I'm not going to stand by the sidelines while she's in battle with some magic user ag... ... " Earendil: Kadan, there's nothing wrong with expressing your feelings. Arzel nods. Arzel: So I teleport us to the village? Geint: Yea. Earendil turns toward Valina. "Stay close to me while we are in the village." Arzel nods. "Here we go." And attempts to teleport into the village ~Valina nods and moves close to Earendil. GMRune: Arzel teleports the party. The shield previously around the village appears to be down now as you reappear just beyond the village walls. Arzel: Yay, I'm better than I thought I was... Arzel looks around. Earendil: Quickly now, find Ayeye. GMRune: Most of the able-bodies villagers are out beyond the walls now. You see an incredible number of spells being hurled between the warlocks and the villagers. This appears to be not a battle of weapons so much as magic. Earendil: Hmm, as I thought, the villagers know magic. Arzel: I say we climb onto the wall... we'll be able to find her easier. Kadan gets a bit cold in intimidation at seeing the electric forces filling the air. Tarrant: You guys look for her, I'll try to hold back the warlocks. Arzel looks around for a place to climb the walls. Tarrant makes a vine up the side of the wall. Earendil: No, we stay together. If we have to teleport out quickly, we will need to be together. Arzel: Yes, we stick together. GMRune: Arzel finds a section of wall that's been partially melted. It makes a good stepping stone to reach the top of the wall. Tarrant: Just go, I will be all right. Arzel climbs up the vine. Arzel thinks the vine is better than stepping stone. :P Earendil: Just do as I say, I have had some experience in massive battles before. Arzel looks around for Ayeye. Kadan looks up at the sky, covering his eyes from the light. Arzel: I see her. GMRune: A misguided fireball strikes a section of the wall, charring the stones, but the wall continues to hold. Arzel: I can teleport us all out of here now... Arzel: Uhh... people? GMRune: A young man teleports back into the village and immediately healers rush to his side and begin fixing his wounds. He notices the party. "Hey! Who are you people?!" Tarrant makes some vines apear under a group of warlocks, they all fall down. GMRune: It is the same young man who lead the villagers to the wall just before Damon's attack. Earendil: Try to get her now, Arzel! Arzel: Ack... where do i teleport her? GMRune: Tarrant discovers that these warlocks are far hardier than the ones he fought before. All of them wear the symbols of House Nissa. Earendil: Bring her to us and then we will get out together. Young Man: Hey! I'm talking to you! Arzel attempts to teleport Ayeye into the village. GMRune: One of the healers binds the young man's chest with a layer of gauze before he leaves them to head towards the party. Tarrant: What do you want, we're here agianst the 'locks. Arzel looks to the man. "We're... adventurers." GMRune: Ayeye flickers and reappears several yards closer to the village, but not inside it. Arzel: Damn it... she's resisting... Earendil: Dammit, time is running out! Try again Arzel. Young Man: But... you're... actually helping us. Arzel trys again. Tarrant: Should I try to knock her out? Ayeye stumbles a little. "AAAH! What was that?!" Arzel looks at Tar and then to Kadan. "Ask him!" Earendil says to the young man. "We'll explain later." Damon looks up and looks towards Ayeye. Arzel looks at the man. "We're trying to save a friend of ours... she's been corrupted into fighting with the warlocks." Kadan: Ayeye's not too big. I'll just grab on to her. Ayeye steps backward. "Something... moved me..." Arzel: Uhh... I don't have much time... Damon's starting to notice me. The young man seems puzzled. He runs a hand through his red hair. "Corrupted? But there are only Nissans out there!" Tarrant cast lightning bolt on Damon. Arzel: Then you run out there Kadan, it's not my funeral. Arzel: No, the red haired one... she's not a warlock... Damon is slightly charred by the lightning bolt, but seems relatively unharmed, much like Tarrant tends to look. Arzel: What do I do? I don't think I can teleport her! The young man looks out at the battlefield. "By Althena...." Geint looks out. Tarrant: You must try, with all your strenth. Arzel trys again to teleport Ayeye into the village. The young man runs out towards the battlefield. He calls out "Fir mertyl!" to his men and charges towards Ayeye's position. Arzel: Uhh... that guy's doing something bad... GMRune: Ayeye teleports against and her distance shortens to fifty yards away from the village wall. Earendil: If they are going to help her, let's distract the warlocks. Arzel: Damn it... I don't know how I'm going to get her away with us... even if I do get her into the village Ayeye stumbles and falls as she rematerializes. Young Man: Fir mertyl, Ayeye! Kant liss formmal? Arzel: He... speaks another language? Geint: Whoa, cool. O_o Ayeye stands up and stares nervously at the young man. Geint: ...Does he think Ayeye speaks it, too? Ayeye backs up slowly. "What?" The young man switches languages. "For peace, Ayeye! Do you remember?" Geint: ...Remember? Arzel: Mertyl... peace in our language Ayeye continues backpedaling. "I have no idea what you are talking about..." GMRune: A beam of darkness suddenly appears from Damon's hand, striking the young man in the chest. He flies back and some of the villagers move to protect him. Earendil: Seems that we must help. The young man crashes to the ground, bleeding heavily, but still alive. Earendil throws the might of the Red Dragon toward Damon. Ayeye turns and runs toward Damon. "Who was he?!" Arzel: Yes. Earendil casts Red Dragon Anger. Damon sees Earendil casting and teleports away before Ayeye reaches him. He does not appear to have heard her question. Arzel teleports down to the young man and attempts to heal his wounds. Kadan runs to the spot where the young man was standing. "Do you want to try that trick on me, Damon? I do not fear the shadows that used to take away life." GMRune: Arzel brings the young man back the village and begins healing him. Kadan turns red. "Don't you hate it when you accost villains with your brave, cool dry wit and they disappear before they can hear you?" Ayeye looks around for Damon. GMRune: The other villagers not locked in combat now look towards Ayeye. They murmur quietly to themselves. Arzel asks the man while he's healing him. "What do you know of Ayeye? What's going on?" Ayeye continues to look around confusedly. Kadan grabs Ayeye by the shoulders. "Ayeye, what are you doing? Let's get out of here!" Ayeye turns and reflexively brings Zara's Spear up toward Kadan, but stops before she hits. "It's you!" GMRune: The warlocks appear to be pulling back from the battlefield. The weary villagers stand their ground as the warlocks retreat. Ayeye grabs Kadan and holds him closely. "I'm so confused..." Earendil: So are we. GMRune: The young man Arzel's healing is still a little dazed from his wound. The healing magic hasn't quite cleared his mind yet. Kadan puts on a rare vulnerable expression. "Yes, it's me, silly! What do you think you're doing, fighting alongside these... these warlocks who are murdering these villagers?" Ayeye: I, I don't know, but, I just don't know who is right... Arzel attempts to ask the young man again when he looks less dazed. The young man gets up as the villagers herd the party members from the battlefield back into town. He shakes himself slightly and thanks Arzel. Kadan lowers his eyes. "Ayeye, you don't belong in this fight. That spear... Damon has some control over you. We need to get out of here, away from this senseless destruction. Ayeye: What if they are right? Zara seemed sincere... The young man shakily comes towards Ayeye. "Ayeye...? Is it really you?" Arzel sighs and shakes his head. "This is too confusing." Kadan: Ayeye, don't look outward to these others who claim to be your kindred. Look inside... do you honestly feel that slaughtering a village could be 'right'? Ayeye turns to the man. "I don't know... I think so... Who are you? Tarrant: It will take time for her to regain her full memory. Young Man: Ayeye, don't you remember me? I'm Jarrek, your brother. GMRune: ------end session--------
