As you near the city, you can hear the sounds of crowds of people. GMRune: It would seem as though the entire city has come out to comb the streets for your location. Valina sneaks quietly along. Ayeye: I don't suppose anyone has a plan? Valina: Plan... hummm, getting outta hear as soon as possable helps... but that is the tricky part, isn't it? GMRune: The exit leading into the city is now only yards away from you. Earendil: Nothing is ever easy for us, is it? Ayeye: No, that's the easy part, right now. The tricky part is getting in. Valina: Whatever... Ayeye: Wait a minute. ~Tarrant: What? Rein: We should at least think of a time and place to meet if any of us get separated. Ayeye digs through her backpack, pats the bush, and pulls out the Serpent Bracer. "This looks a little like a warlock symbol..." Ayeye: Do you think it could help? ~Kadan glances suspiciously at it. Valina: Perhaps... it's worth a try. Rein: We need pretty much any help we can get! Geint: Wait... where are we going in, anyways? Ayeye examines it, "I hope it doesn't do anything weird this time." Valina: Good question... Geint: I thought I was gonna fly through the window we came out, fly in, find Leon, and book---but then I realised that plan didn't include very many people. =b Ayeye: No one wants to leave him behind. ~Tarrant: Leon's a little big for you to get out on all your own Geint. Ayeye cautiosly equips the bracer. Geint: Well, I was gonna fly him out the window. Geint: He is? GMRune: The Serpent Bracer fits snugly over Ayeye's lower arm as though it has always belonged there. Valina: Just a little... Geint: You think? He's a pretty little guy--even if he is a teenager now. ~Tarrant: True, you're a strong bunny, but... Valina: He is bigger than me now! Granted, that doesn't take much, but still!! Rein: Does it make any sense for us to go to the spot where we last saw him? Geint: I'm NOT a bunny! ~Tarrant: Sorry, Geint, force of habit. Geint: =b Ayeye walks into the city. "Stop arguing, we have to save him." Geint: Get a better habit---suck your thumb! ;) Geint: Ok..ok.... =b Geint sighs and follows. GMRune: The party exits the tunnel and reenters the small yard behind the school in Killith. Valina hopes they don't mistake her for a school child :P ~Tarrant: Which way? Rein: I guess there's nowhere to go but back to the tower. Ayeye self consciously covers the bracer and tries to find her way back to the Large And Probably Easy To Spot Tower. GMRune: The Citadel looms high into the gray skies to the southeast in the center of the city. It's probably a fairly long hike from your current position. Rein: Let's just go I guess, and try to look in a hurry. Rein: And a little panicked, like everyone else around here. Ayeye: That won't be much of a stretch. Earendil looks up at the Citadel and sighs, "Back into the lion's den." Ayeye heads southeast, toward the tower. Valina: Yea... the best place to hide is in plain sight. Geint: *To the group* Oh yea. A panicked Jr. Dragon. THAT won't attract attention. GMRune: As the party comes out in front of the school, they see warlocks lifting golden talismans which shine a red light light on everything they face. Around the warlocks' feet several groups of blue jelly creatures are sucking up the refuse of the discarded magical items. Ayeye rolls her eyes. "Someone hide the Air Bunny." ~Tarrant offers Geint the inside of his hood under the condition that she not set it on fire. Ayeye whispers, "Anyone know what's going on?" Rein: Umm.. let's try to steer clear of that, eh? Geint snickers a bit, nervous and embarrassed, then hides in Tarrant's hood. Earendil whispers, "The whole city is probably looking for Par." Ayeye: Right, around it, how do we do that? GMRune: The party sees one of the warlocks and the beam from the talisman she's carrying is heading towards the party. Rein: Move right! Valina: Ohh great... Geint hides a bit further in Tarrant's hood. Rein: Or.. spread out or something... Ayeye walks in the other direction and ignores the warlock. Valina follows Rein. GMRune: The warlock doesn't pay much attention to Ayeye, but continues her scanning, light flashing dangerously close to the party, but not quite over them, yet... ~Tarrant hurries after Ayeye. Ayeye tries to manuever around the warlocks without getting hit by the light. GMRune: Ayeye, and those who are following her, manage to avoid getting struck by the light. Rein thinks inconspicuous thoughts... Valina notices the light being shot above her head, missing her by about a foot. Valina slowly walks around... Ayeye: Geint, Tarrant, what happened to the rest? Earendil walks toward Ayeye's position. Valina and Rein stay away from the rest of the group. Ayeye quickly glances around the area, looking for the missing members. ~Tarrant: I think Rein and Val wandered off down another block while we were trying to evade the warlocks' lights. Rein steers towards a junction with the other group well ahead of our current position Ayeye: Great, we started with one person missing, and now we have three. Ayeye starts back toward the tower, "Hopefully we'll meet them at the tower." Ayeye, Geint, Kadan, and Tarrant: Geint says in a muffled something like "This ith a dithasthtuh" GMRune: Ayeye's group begins to near the Citadel. Even the alleyways seem far more brighter and more crowded than before. Teams of warlock sentinels traverse their other warlocks, demanding to see their symbols as proof of their identities. Ayeye does her best to avoid the sentinels. Geint: (Uhhh...Tarrant...........Ayeye......?) GMRune: One of the sentinels heads over to Ayeye and stops her. "Excuse me, miss, but I have to see your symbol." ~Tarrant: Yes, Geint? Geint: (Who's there?) Ayeye tries to cover her surprise by smiling innocently, "Umm, yeah, what happened anyway?" Sentinel: What do you think? A group of rebels actually infiltrated this place! They disguised themselves as some of us. Now we have to search our own people to find them! ~Tarrant looks at Geint. "Who's where?" Ayeye: Bu, but I thought that was impossible? How could they do that? Geint: ( I see someone, but I can't see through your hood! ) ~Tarrant cautiously looks around but doesn't see anyone. Sentinel: I'm not entirely sure how, but they have managed to do so. Now, I have to see your symbol before I let you go on. Ayeye: Oh, err...sure... Ayeye watches the sentinel carefully as she shows him the bracer. The sentinel looks at Ayeye's bracer carefully. At first he looks surprised, but then he bows to her and motions for her to continue on her way. He doesn't even give Tarrant another glance, knowing that he's with her. Geint: ( This sucks! The guy's gone! ) Ayeye relaxes slightly as the sentinel lets her pass, but gets even more worried about his reaction. ~Kadan creeps out from behind some buildings to join up with Ayeye, Tarrant, and Geint; pretending he never left at all. GMRune: Ayeye's group has meanwhile come all the way up to the front doors of the Citadel, whih, of course, are incredibly well guarded by a group of no less than a dozen sentries. Ayeye: Should've known. Ayeye shrugs. "Maybe it'll work here too." Ayeye walks straight toward the entrance, acting like she belongs there. ~Tarrant and Kadan hurry after Ayeye. GMRune: The sentries at the Citadel look warily at Ayeye as she approaches. GMRune: They move to block her entrance to the Citadel. Ayeye waves to the sentries. "Hi!" Sentry: What is your business here? Ayeye: I left something behind, I need to go back and get it. Sentry: You must know that the Citadel is currently off limits until the renegade warlock and his compatriots are found. Ayeye frowns, "Really? Stupid rebels are always getting in the way. Are you sure I can't go in? It wouldn't take long, I promise." Sentry: Sorry, not unless you have some kind of clearance from House Nissa. Geint: ( Psst... the guy seemed really impressed that Ayeye had that band. ) Geint: (Maybe he'll let her in if she shows him that. ) ~Tarrant: (w) True, Geint. Ayeye: Clearence? I bet I'd have to get in to get clearence. You sure? ~Tarrant: (w) Ayeye, Geint says to use your bracer thing. The sentry looks at Ayeye strangely. Ayeye absentmindedly passes the bracer in front of the sentry's eyes and sighs. "How long until I can get in?" The sentry glances at her bracer, eyes flickering a mixture of surprise and annoyance. "M'lady certainly should not play games with me at such a time as this! Very well, you may go through." Geint: (Toldjya. ;) Ayeye walks in. "Thank you." GMRune: Ayeye passes into the walls of the Citadel, but the sentries prevent the rest of her group from following her. Kadan blinks and absentmindedly follows Ayeye. Ayeye turns back toward the rest of the group, "Aren't you coming?" GMRune: Ayeye sees the sentries are preventing Kadan and Tarrant from coming over to her. Ayeye glares at the sentries, "Please let them through, they are with me." Kadan: Yeah... with her! Sentry: Well, if you insist, m'lady, but you should let your elders in Nissa know about them before they stray away from you. GMRune: The sentries reluctantly move aside to allow Kadan and Tarrant rejoin Ayeye. Ayeye: Umm...I'll do that... Kadan tries to join Ayeye as casually as possible. Ayeye: Where did I lose that thing... ~Tarrant trails after Ayeye. Geint: (OooOoooooh..All hail queen Ayeye. ;) GMRune: Soon the four in the Citadel reach the main chamber. The four wings again branch to the northwest, northeast, southwest, southeast, and of course, upwards. ~Tarrant: Be nice, Geint! Geint: *Snicker* ~Tarrant: Ouch... how are we going to him in this place! Ayeye: No idea, let's check where we lost him. Ayeye glances at each wing and gives the group a lopsided smile. "Where did we lose him?" ~Tarrant: Umm... the southeast wing... House Erde's, in the playroom. Ayeye: Oh yeah! Ayeye heads southeast. GMRune: Ayeye's group reenters the earth toned halls and easily find the varnished door to the playroom. You see no warlocks your entire trip there. Ayeye goes into the playroom and searches the area for Ghaleon. Geint: (What was it Arzel said Leon was looking at?) GMRune: The playroom is utterly empty, and missing a stuffed toy of a rabbit with wings. ~Tarrant: I think he said Leon was looking at a door. Ayeye: Which door? Ayeye starts looking for doors. Geint: ( Wait---is anyone else here? ) GMRune: Ayeye sees there is only one other door in the playroom, the one that leads to the supply closet the party escaped out of. ~Tarrant: Anyone else? Why? Geint: And more importantly than that--why am I whispering? Ayeye checks the supply closet. ~Tarrant shrugs. GMRune: Ayeye sees the open window the party never closed behind them and the shelf Kadan broke while trying to exit just hours ago. Ayeye: He probably went off and did something stupid like trying to find his parents. Ayeye: Not good at all. Geint: =b ~Tarrant sighs. Ayeye: I don't suppose either of you happen to have a key to that lift thing? ~Tarrant: Er... no... Jael had it. Geint sighs loudly. Ayeye: Oh well, let's get moving. Ayeye heads out of the wing and toward the lift. GMRune: Ayeye's group returns to the central center and stands beneath the giant shaft that leads up the main tower. Kadan looks up apprehensively. Ayeye looks up at the shaft. "Anyone know how to operate this thing?" Geint: I could fly up there and look at it... ~Tarrant shrugs, staring up and up and up... Geint crawls out of Tarrant's hood. Ayeye holds out her hand and reaches to the shaft. GMRune: Nothing happens either to Ayeye or her group. Geint looks inquisitively at the rest of the group. Ayeye enters the shaft. GMRune: The shaft is way too far above Ayeye's head for her to climb up it. Geint: Weeelllllll?? Ayeye: You can try. Ayeye looks for any sign of controls. Geint: Uhh... can you pick a lock that's made for a magic key? Ayeye: I don't know, I wouldn't even know how to operate it with the key. Geint looks at what she can see as she flies higher and higher.... GMRune: As Geint goes up she passes by the various alcoves leading to the first, second, third, and so on floors of the main tower. Ayeye: Well, it worked everywhere else... Ayeye tries putting the bracer up against the shaft. GMRune: The bracer sits darkly on Ayeye's arm. Ayeye: Tarrant, Kadan, any ideas? Kadan shrugs sheepishly. Geint: Hey Tar---what about plant magic? Couldn't you bring us up here via a vine? ~Tarrant: I'm starting to wonder if Ghaleon got up there at all. After all, he didn't have a key. Did he? Geint: Where else would he go? I guess you're right--- Let's think like Leon! =D Geint flies back down. ~Tarrant: It might work Geint, but isn't it kind of conspicuous? Ayeye: Well, no, I don't think he did. Where would he have gone? Geint: Oh yea. A broken bookshelf isn't... ~Tarrant: Thinking like Leon would probably take us up this shaft. The question is, how did he do it, if he even was able to. Geint: Can he use magic very well? Ayeye: I dunno, he's the warlock. Geint: If so, he may be able to levitate.... Ayeye: That neat little transporting trick? Geint: Hmm.... maybeee..... GMRune: Ayeye, Kadan, Tar, and Geint see a party of warlocks beginning to float down the shaft towards the bottom floor. Geint gets out of the way and hides in the playroom with the stuffed animals where the bunny was. Ayeye waves to the warlocks. ~Tarrant blinks, wondering where Geint is going. Geint remains very still. Warlock: Yes, do we know you? Ayeye giggles. "Don't know. Could we get a ride up there with you?" The warlock frowns. "But we just got back down..." Warlock2: Ah, just take her up. What harm can she be? Ayeye: I'm sorry, but we really need a lift. Warlock: What, all of you? Kadan: I can vouch for her. She's the most harmless thing ever! In fact, no matter how hard she hits, she only does 1... well... nevermind. Geint: o O (Uh oh..... why didn't I go in Tarrant's hood? ) Ayeye: Well, yes. Geint: o O ( STUPID! STUPID! ) Ayeye bops Kadan. "I've done more than that!" GMRune: The warlocks look queerly at Kadan and Ayeye. Kadan scratches the back of his head and looks away. Warlock: Well, if you want a lift up, I suppose we can take you. What floor do you need? Ayeye smiles at the warlocks. "Sorry, he's funny sometimes." Ayeye glances at Tarrant. "Eleven? Was that it?" ~Tarrant: I think... I don't remember... Ayeye: Well, we need up to eleven. It's very important. The warlock raises an eyebrow. "Aye, it must be. All right, now if you'll just stand right here under the center of the shaft I'll take you and your two friends up." Geint: o O (This reeeaaaalllllyyy sucks.....) Ayeye nods and moves to the center. "Thank you." GMRune: Ayeye's group is transported up via the enchanted winds to the eleventh floor. It seems somewhat wider than you imagined the peak of the spire would be. GMRune: The right half of this floor is reserved from Emperor Kargeth. Eight heavily armored sentries stand watch outside his door. The hallway continues around a bend to the left. Ayeye mutters, "Think like Leon," as she steps out onto the floor. Ayeye heads down the left passageway. Geint: o O ( I hate this....... ) GMRune: Ayeye's party heads around the bend and discovers a ladder leading upward to yet another floor. Ayeye: It's worth a try. Ayeye heads up the ladder. GMRune: You emerge into the peak of the Citadel's uppermost spire. Two cylinders of light emerge from the floor on either side of you. Suspended inside the northern one is the unconscious form of Elron. Mileria is likewise floating, head tilted back, in the southern cylinder. GMRune: Beams from the two cylinders merge into a large crystal embedded in the ceiling, and from there you can see the light spread out to form the greenish dome that surrounds the city. GMRune: Ayeye's party finds Ghaleon standing before Mileria, gazing upward at her sleeping face. Ayeye: Ghaleon! Where have you been? Geint: o O (ooohhhh.... I hope the group knows where I am.....) Earendil, Rein, and Valina: Valina and Rein wander and wander. Rein: I think if we take this street we can head them off... well, maybe that one...hmm... Earendil looks for Ayeye but doesn't see her Valina: Great Rein! Nice dead end! I told you we should have gone left! Rein: With all due respect, Val, I didn't hear you objecting at the time... GMRune: Rein and Valina wander around and crash into Earendil while rounding a corner. Valina: Do as I think, not as I say! Rein: Ear! Oops, I mean, Ear . Valina: Oh hi, Earendil. Earendil: What the he . . .? Oh it's you guys. Earendil: I tried catching up to Ayeye, but she was too far ahead. Valina: Well, I just hope you have a better sence of direction than Rein here... Rein: }:P Earendil: Let's just head towards the tower. I can't seem to think of anything better to do. Valina: But let's stay in the alleyways. Rein: Anyway we could get or reproduce one of those red lights? Valina: Rein, that is why I say we stick to the alleyways... Earendil: How Rein? I don't think any of us knows how they work. Rein: It's just the impression... if we could be one of the hunters, rather than the hunted... but it's probably impossible. Earendil: We could always attack one of the groups, but that may draw too much attention. Valina: We don't want to do that... Rein: Let's just keep moving, I guess... I'm all turned around. Do you two have any idea where the others might be? I can't even see the tower with all these buildings here... Valina: I don't know... Valina: You got us here anyways. Earendil: If we want to find our way to the tower, we'll have to take the main streets. Valina looks up... "Not exactly." Valina: These buildings are pretty close together... think we do some roof jumping? Earendil cocks an eyebrow at Valina's suggestion. Earendil: You may actually have something there. Rein: I'm game. Valina: Call it female intuition... now, how do we get up there? Earendil: The easiest way would be going up through a building. Valina: That's what I'm thinking... Valina looks for doors in the alleyway. Earendil: The school might be empty, we could use that building. Valina: If we can find our way back that is... Rein: I don't think there's any time to backtrack. Rein: Plus, around here, maybe we can see the rest of the group. Rein: Let's just try to find our way up one of these buildings Earendil looks at the side of the buildings to see if there is anything to climb on. Valina: Let's look for a door. Perhaps we can find everyone else when we are on top.. Rein: Yes, let's. Valina looks for a fire escape or something! GMRune: Earendil can't find any way up from the outside of the building save climbing up windows. Valina looks for open windows! GMRune: The buildings have no fire escapes. When you can levitate and teleport, who needs 'em? Earendil sighs, "I guess we will have to go in, I just hope nobody's home." Valina: Earendil, I think you are right... Rein: Hey, we're warlocks, that should buy us a get to the roof free pass from the good folks of this neighborhood! Valina: Life is never that simple Rein. Earendil looks around for some sort of back door to the nearby buildings. Valina walks up and down the alleyway looking for any entrance to any of the buildings! GMRune: Earendil and Valina find a rusty old door in one of the more rundown buildings. Rein: I still say we should just kno... hey, here we go! Valina: Rein! Earendil: This seems to be the best way in, don't you think? Valina: Looks good to me! Valina: Let's kick, on 3, 1, 2 ,3! Earendil tries opening the door. Valina kicks at the door! Earendil: Shhhh! Valina hurts her foot! Valina: ... GMRune: The door falls down with a loud CRASH! splintering bits of wood and dust all around the dirty bottom floor. Valina: But it was worth it! Rein looks around to see if anyone heard. Valina enters the old building. Earendil: Get in before anybody sees us! Earendil walks in. Valina looks around in the old building. GMRune: Valina, Earendil, and Rein are in a dusty room at the base of a six story building, a small graying staircase leads up to the higher floor from the eastern corner. Earendil points toward the stairway and walks toward it. Valina: Well... let's go up... Valina goes to the second floor. Rein follows. Valina: You know... while we are here, let's look for something useful.. an old warlock symbol would be nice to find. GMRune: The second floor of the building appears to be an old study. The stairs continue upward. Valina searches around the second floor. GMRune: Valina doesn't particularly find anything of note, just a mouldy old desk. Valina: Humm nothing... let's go up. Valina goes up to floor 3. Earendil heads up to the third floor. Valina: Rein! are you coming? Valina searches floor 3. GMRune: The third floor is utterly empty. A trail of slime covers most of the floor and leads up the stairs. Rein hustles up. Valina: Hummm... Valina: Slime... I don't like this... Earendil: I think maybe it's those monsters they use for clean-up. Valina: Let's be careful... Valina carefully sneeks up to floor 4. GMRune: The fourth floor appears to have been dutifully cleaned, which a sparkling sheer cast all about the floor. The slime, now drying beautifully, continues up to the next floor. Earendil: Four down, two to go. Valina: Humm... not much of a slime left.. that's good. Earendil waits until the slime disappears up the stairs and then heads up them himself. Rein follows. Valina climbs up to floor 5. GMRune: Once on the fifth floor Earendil, Rein, and Valina find a blue jelly resting halfway up the the steps to the sixth. Earendil whispers to Valina, "There's only one of them." Valina: Hummm only one huh? Earendil darling, could you please blast it with a thunder bolt? Earendil: Maybe we can sneek by it. Rein: What in Althena's name is that thing DOING here anyway. GMRune: The blue jelly burbles up on the stairs, oblivious to the people below it. Valina: Humm that's no fun! Rein: Maybe if we just live and let live, ya know? Earendil: No need to waste magic and draw attention. Valina: ~sigh~ Oh well. Valina walks toward the stairs... and stops suddenly! Earendil: What is it? Valina: I don't want to go up first... in case there are more of them... Slimes are so, slimey! GMRune: The slime burps. Earendil says in a snide voice, "Ooh, are you afraid of icky, slimey things?" Valina: I really don't like that... Valina hits Earendil in a flirting manner "Quit it!" GMRune: The blue jelly turns red. Rein sighs and rolls his eyes... GMRune: Now it looks more of a purplish color. Valina: Umm... changing colors.. is that, bad? Earendil: However, I will do as you wish, a knight cannot turn down the request of a lady. . . hmm, its changing colours. Rein: It's gone from strawberry to grape. Amazing! Valina: Oh thank you! Valina: Umm Rein, that is grape to strawberry! Are you color blind? Earendil: Wait, Rein would you be so kind as to heal me, just in case it attacks. Rein: Of course. Rein casts heal litany on Ear. GMRune: Earendil gains 58 hp. Earendil: Thanks. Earendil heads toward the slime, but unsheaths his sword just in case. Valina: Rein... after you :) Rein yells at Val while he's healing Ear... "The last strawberry I saw was red!" Rein nods and advances. GMRune: Ear and Rein approach the now purplish red jelly. At their advance it turns a sickly green. Earendil: Uhh . . . maybe I should blast it into smitherines. Rein: Maybe it just wants to be friends.. or maybe it's scared.. it WAS moving away... Valina sneeks up the stairs... Earendil shuffles ever so slightly toward the slime keeping his shield in front of him. Valina: Ikk! It's... ikky! GMRune: The slime is just sitting on the stairs, although still the green color. Earendil tries walking up past the slime. Valina sneeks back down the stairs... GMRune: The slime whacks Earendil's leg! 1 damage! Valina screams a little scream. Earendil shakes the slime off his leg. "Ewwh." Valina: Blast it blast it! GMRune: The slime sits placidly on the steps, waiting. Earendil: Alright, if you say so Valina, but it will cost you later. Earendil casts Thunder Strike on the Slime. GMRune: The slime takes 47 damage from Earendil's lightning bolt! Valina: Thank you... GMRune: The slime squeals and hurries up the stairs away from Earendil and the rest. Earendil: Hmm, its still alive. Valina shudders at the burnt slime. Earendil looks toward Valina. "I hath conquered the foul beast that held thee prisoner, where's my reward?" Valina gives Earendil a little kiss on the cheek. "Thank you." Earendil 's face turns a deep red. Earendil heads up the stairs. Valina follows Earendil. GMRune: The sixth floor is only recently covered in slime, with the burnt lil' jelly cowering in a corner of the room. Along one of the walls is a window to the outside. Earendil takes a look out the window. GMRune: From the window Earendil can see the wall of the building across from him about ten feet away. Valina: Humm... now how do we get up to the roof? Hey Earendil, think we make it to the roof from the window Earendil looks back toward the the slime. "I almost feel sorry for it." Rein: Well I DO feel sorry for it! Valina: The world has one less slime! Tis better. Valina: Don't put me on any guilt trips! I don't need them! GMRune: The slime whines in the corner. Earendil: Oh bother, now I am feeling guilty. Valina looks at the slime... "Ohh don't do that." Rein: Maybe I should heal it? Earendil: Yeah, maybe you should. Valina: Umm... well umm... Rein casts heal litany on the poor slime. GMRune: Blue (Green?) Jelly gains 58 hp! GMRune: The jelly turns back to its usual blue color, but remains in the corner. Valina still tires to ignore the jelly. GMRune: The jelly is still in the corner. Rein spots Valina being aloof. Valina: Humm ok fine! Let's get it something to eat... Earendil: How about toast with jelly. Rein: Why'd ya have to get him to do that anyway? The least you could do is show a little pity... just because it's a slime.. geez... GMRune: The slime turns the color of marmelade. Valina: Some people hate spiders, others hate snakes. I hate slimes.. they are so slimey... Rein: Hmph... Rein: After all this, we must have lost the others for sure... Earendil starts feeling along the walls. "There has to be a way up to the roof somewhere." Valina: Perhaps we should head back to the schoolyard.. Valina looks at Rein. GMRune: A part of the wall gives way under Earendil's touch, forming a jagged route to climb up to the roof with. Valina looks at the slime... Valina: Iik. Earendil: I seem to have the magic touch today. Earendil starts climbing up to the roof. Valina approches the window... GMRune: Earendil reaches the flat, level roof of the decrepit building. Though old, the footing feels secure, and the next building is only a short jump away. Rein too. Valina: Hey Earendil! Could you give me a hand? Earendil: But of course! Earendil sticks his hands down to help pull Valina up. Valina grabs Earendil's hand. Valina: Thanks! Rein reaches up and swings himself up. Valina: I wonder where the others are? Rein: I'm sure they're long gone by now... Valina: Yea... Valina looks for the others. Earendil: Think you guys can make the jump? Valina looks... Valina: I can do it... GMRune: The jump is a paltry ten feet in length. Valina: And if I can, I think you can do it as well. Rein: Hmm... that's quite a jump... Valina: Well anyways... see you on the other side! Valina jumps! GMRune: Valina lands safely on the other side. Earendil: Come on Rein, you're not going to let a girl show you up are you? Rein: Hmph... just watch. Rein follows suit. Valina: I'll try and catch you! GMRune: Ear and Rein land easily on the building on the other side. Valina: See, no problem... Earendil: Let's try to get as close as possible to the Citadel. Valina: Yea... then we can worry about getting down. :P Rein: So... are we going to the tower, I guess? The other group must be well ahead of us... Valina: Well, lets get going.. Earendil starts jumping from roof to roof. Valina flies through the air between the buildings GMRune: You all see the greenish barrier of light around the city flicker crazily and then die altogether. Valina: Whoa! Valina: Hey! I bet I know where everyone else is! Earendil points toward the top of the Citadel. "I think we found the rest of the group." Ayeye, Ghaleon, Kadan, and Tarrant: Ghaleon turns around and looks blankly at the party. He has been crying. "Mama... Papa... I can't free them..." Ayeye examines the cylinders. "I know." Ayeye grabs Ghaleon's arm. "We need to get out of here!" Ghaleon stands firm, refusing to let himself be dragged by Ayeye. "We can't just leave them!" Ayeye reaches out and touches a cylinder of light. "But what can we do?" Ghaleon: There must be something! I tried my magic... ::he gestures to the charred wall from the reflection of his spell:: but it didn't work... Ghaleon: I've done everything right! I grabbed a key! I got up here! I even hid! But I can't break the spell! Ghaleon draws his sword and whacks the light cylinder with it, jarring his shoudlers badly and leaving no effect. Ayeye: I don't know what to do... Ayeye slashes at the cylinder. GMRune: Ayeye's slashing has no effect. Ayeye steps back and looks at the apparatus. GMRune: There is a crystal high above at the very peak of the room. You can't reach it from the floor. Two beams of light generated by the cylinders merge into it. Ayeye takes off her backpack, rummages through it, and pulls out a Dark Orb. Ayeye throws the orb at the crystal. GMRune: The orb smacks the crystal squarely and shatters it! However the cylinders around Elron and Mileria are still in operation. Their light beams simply hit the ceiling now rather than the crystal. Ayeye looks back at the ladder. "I'll bet someone heard that." GMRune: The dark orb lands on the floor with a heavy thunk. GMRune: The sound of booted feet from Kargeth's quarters begins to head towards the party on the 12h floor of the Citadel. Ayeye picks up the orb and moves over to examine the base of the cylinders of light. "Kadan, watch the entrance." ~Tarrant: Ayeye, what are we going to do? Ayeye shakes her head, "Everyone, lie down on the floor and follow my lead!" Earendil, Rein, Valina: Earendil keeps on taking flying leaps from building to building. Valina: Let's hurry... GMRune: The party on the buildings soon find themselves running out of buildings as they need the Citadel. Soon there is only a great open space yawning between them and Kargeth's palace. Valina: Ohhh .... ummm Earendil: Now what do we do? Valina: I'd say that would make a nice splatter... Valina looks. Valina looks down. Earendil: Maybe we should just wait and see what the rest of our party is going to do. GMRune: Valina sees the nice solid pavement below her. And warlocks of course. Earendil: With the barrier down, let's hope Arzel will bring in the gryphons to get us out of here. Valina: Well... let's just hope Arzel can find us here Valina looks up to the 12th floor... Geint: Geint: o O ( Can this get any worse? --wait!! Idea! =D) Geint looks to see who's around. GMRune: No one appears to be here. Geint flys out the window. GMRune: You're outside. :) Geint takes to the air "I'm not much use without the others. They've probobly found him." Geint zooms up high. Geint tries to find where Arzel and Par were. GMRune: You can't see Arzel and Par from this distance. You do see the large force of warlocks to the west though. GMRune: You can see the opening to the tunnel by the schoolyard. Geint: o O ( Hmmm.... maybe I could do some spy work.... be useful.... see what the warlocks are up to....) Geint zooms very stealthily and quietly behind where the warlocks are and hides. GMRune: They're using those funny red lights to scan for people who are not wearing warlock symbols. Geint: o O ( Looks like they're looking for Par....) GMRune: The warlocks head everywhere. Not towards anyone you know though. Geint: o O (This sucks. =b ) Geint uses her big ears to listen in if any of them mention to the other what they've found. GMRune: They haven't found anything, and that frustrates them. Geint begins to wonder if the rest fo the group will know she's left and wasn't kidnapped---or dragonnapped....OH WELL! ;) Geint sees if she can find someone dressed like the funky person she saw in Tarrant's hood. Geint doesn't get out of her spot--and walks on the ground. GMRune: You can't seem to find that person. Geint: >=( Geint looks to see if she recognizes any warlocks. GMRune: Nope. :| Geint: >=( >=( GMRune: You manage to spot some people flying overhead on the rooftops though. Geint decides to check on them. They seem like more fun! =D Geint makes sure to countinue hiding. Geint is glad it's dark! GMRune: You see it's Ear, Val, and Rein! Geint decides to freak them out. Geint follows, remaining out of sight. GMRune: You get nearer to them. Their backs are to you and they're looking at the Citadel. Geint snickers very very softly and continues to follow quietly. GMRune: They appear to have stopped, simply because there are no other buildings to jump to. Now they're just chatting among themselves. Geint imitates a guard. "Hey!! You there!!" Earendil, Geint, Rein, and Valina: GMRune: Earendil, Valina, and Rein hear a voice bark out, "Hey!! You there!!" Valina: Ummm.... Earendil, I think that was directed to you.. Earendil looks around for the voice. Valina gets low to the floor. Valina: I can't see them... they can't see me... I hope. Earendil: With the barrier down, we were sent up here to keep an eye out for aeriel attacks. Voice: Oh were you...? Voice: We're looking for a baby dragon... have you seen one? Valina: Umm, what does a baby dragon look like? Valina: I have never seen a dragon in my life. Earendil: I've spent most of my life as a guard and have never seen a dragon. Valina: But I have seen a bunny! Valina: But that was a long time ago. Geint does her normal voice while flying forward and smiling. "Maybe you'd like to see one. ;)" Geint snickers slightly. GMRune: Geint flies into view of Ear, Val, and Rein. Geint: Found you guys! =D Earendil is startled for a bit, "Damn you Geint, you had us thinking there were a pack of warlocks after us." Geint: Hehe... ;) Valina: Oh umm hi... Geint: I got seperated from Ayeye and the rest. Earendil: They're over there, on the top of the Citadel. Geint: It's a damn good thing you guys are up here! The premises is CRAWLIN' with warlocks. Valina: Well hi Geint... glad you could join us. Geint: Hmm..... I don't know what use I am as of now... I just came to see if you met up with Ayeye and the rest... Valina: Well, this is as far as we got. Geint: I may want to see what's up with everything down there... *gesturing off the bulding* Earendil: We're hoping Arzel will come save the day with the gryphons. Geint: I'm small. I guess you could say I've found a nack for sneaking about. Valina: Geint... I have an idea... fly over and tell Arzel that the gryphons would be nice now. Geint: Ok. =) Geint does what Valina says. "Bye now!" Valina: Thanks, Geint! Geint takes to the air once again! Geint flies above everything and finds the funky tunnel. From there she should find Arzel and Par. Valina: I hope Geint returns soon. Earendil: I wonder how the other group is faring? Valina sits and waits for Geint to return. Valina has a bad feeling of what is going on up there. Ayeye, Ghaleon, Kadan, and Tarrant: Kadan draws his axe and guards the entrance diligently. ~Tarrant: They'll be here any second now. Ayeye lies prone. Ayeye pulls Ghaleon down. Kadan glances around nervously, then decides to join Ghaleon. GMRune: A troop of four warlocks march up to the base of the ladder. The first of them begins to climb and pokes his head up into the 12th floor. Ayeye slowly stands up when the first warlock appears. Ayeye clutches her head and looks straight at the warlock, "Did you get them?" GMRune: The guard climbs all the way up, a hand raised and ready to cast a spell. Guard: Get them? GMRune: The other three guards join their companion up on the 12th floor. Ayeye stumbles forward. "The- The rebels, the ones that jumped us." Guard: What kind of crap are you talking about? Kadan tries to hold his breath. Ghaleon cowers on the floor, hands covering his head, and incidentally, also his ears. Ayeye stands up straight and speaks in a commanding manner, "The rebel scum who broke the crystal! The must have ran out after jumping us!" Ayeye: I'll make this easy for you to understand, Did...you...get...them? The guard scowls. "No one passed us since you did on your way up here. No one else has been here!" Ayeye: Impossible! We saw them! Are you telling me that they can weild magic as well as the mightiest of us? Guard: Look, who are you? We've never seen you here before. Ayeye looks around the room. "Actually, we didn't get a good look at them, they sort of surprised us..." Ayeye turns back to the guard. "Are there any other entrances they could have used?" The guard shoots a beam of light near Ayeye and the others. "Common warlocks aren't allowed up here for just any purpose. Again, who are you?" Ayeye lifts up the bracer and watches the guard's reaction carefully. The guard seems to recognize it, and scowls. "You appear to be one of us, and then you do not, because we do not know you. Tell us, have those scum from Mertyl sent you over here!" Ayeye: The scum from Mertyl? What kind of a question is that? The guard nods to his companions. "Renegades. Kill all of them." GMRune: --------round 1-------- GMRune: combat: 4 warlock centurions GMRune: Ayeye backs up and defends. GMRune: Kadan casts Negate Magic on himself! All spells directed at him will fail! Kadan: Magic begone! GMRune: Centurion #1 blasts Ghaleon with a beam of light! GMRune: 72 damage! Ghaleon falls! Ayeye looks around the room. GMRune: Centurion #2 casts Pulse Ray on Tarrant! GMRune: 71 damage! GMRune: Centurion #3 shoots a funnel of light at Kadan! GMRune: No damage! GMRune: Centurion #4 blasts Tarrant with a beam of light! GMRune: 83 damage! GMRune: Tarrant looks pretty far gone now. Kadan is terribly frightened of a power that can injure Tarrant. GMRune: Tarrant casts Spore Pop on the centurions! GMRune: 103 damage to each! GMRune: ------round 2------- GMRune: Ayeye defends. Ayeye: Guys, this isn't good, the real rebels are escaping... GMRune: Kadan attacks Centurion #1! GMRune: attack 1: 30 damage GMRune: attack 2: 37 damage GMRune: Centurion #1 hits Tarrant with a wave of darkness! Tarrant falls! GMRune: Centurion #2 attacks Kadan with his sword! GMRune: 97 damage! Kadan coughs and staggers back, but remains on his feet. GMRune: Centurion #3 attacks Ayeye with his blade! GMRune: He misses! Ayeye: Hey! Come on! They'll get away! GMRune: Centurion #4 attacks Kadan! GMRune: 90 damage! GMRune: ------round 3------ Ayeye glances at all of the warlocks and remaining party members. GMRune: Ayeye defends! Kadan slowly positions himself to a gap in the enemy group. "Ayeye... get ready to follow me!" GMRune: Kadan cast Retreat! GMRune: It fails! GMRune: Centurion #1 attacks Kadan! GMRune: 75 damage! GMRune: Centurion #2 shoots Kadan with a wave of darkness! GMRune: No damage! Kadan: Bring it on! GMRune: Centurion #3 attacks Ayeye! Ayeye frowns deeply, "This isn't going to do the empire any good..." GMRune: He misses! GMRune: Centurion #4 attacks Kadan! GMRune: 92 damage! Kadan falls! GMRune: ------round 4------- Kadan lurches to the ground, then tries to push himself up to his knees, but cannot muster the strength. Ayeye: Guys, I don't suppose your willing to talk about this? Guard: How so? All traitors from Mertyl must die. You knew that when you made the decision all those years ago. Ayeye: I made no decision to become a traitor! Guard: Perhaps you didn't, but your ancestors did. And since you haven't come to us before, we know where your heart must lie. Guard: May Nissa show his mercy on you when you depart from this world... Ayeye: Hah! I know nothing of my ancestors, so any decision they made has no effect on me! The guard raises his hand to blast Ayeye as she takes a defensive position... Guard: One cannot live being ignorant. It's no wonder then that your life will end so swiftly. Ayeye: Why have I offended you? Guard: All traitors know the reason. You had given up our purpose, our mission! Ayeye: I did not! Or, I don't think I did... I'm really not sure... WHO AM I? The guard's hand glows in light, no longer paying attention to Ayeye's words. Guard: A traitor. That is all. Ayeye attempts to get out of the way. "Maybe, maybe not..." GMRune: The guard fires his magic at Ayeye and a warm red light envelopes her! Ayeye: Maybe you have lost sight and I know exactly what I'm doing. GMRune: The Serpent Bracer glows hotly against her wrist, sucking the heat from the room, absorbing it, and magnifying it! GMRune: Ayeye lifts the arm with the Serpent Bracer, pointing it towards the warlocks. The attacking guard's magic is stopped, and Ayeye unleashes a giant gout of flame which incinerates the lot of them! GMRune: 879 damage to each of them! GMRune: ------victory!------- Ayeye blinks, surprised by that effect. "I would not have expected this..." GMRune: Ayeye feels that the Bracer has unleashed much of her own energy as well, as her vision begins to fade from her eyes. Kadan: Er... G'ah?... Just 5 more minutes... GMRune: Ayeye passes out. GMRune: -------end session--------
