Earendil glances at the sword and looks back at the beast. Tarrant focuses his mind, preparing for battle GMRune: The wurm twists a bit as if getting a better "view" of the party. Ghaleon smirks. "I've been waiting until I'm big enough to fight with your guys!" Rein: Leon.... GMRune: The wurm strikes! GMRune: -----round 1------- Ayeye looks at the damaged crystal, "Are you here to stay?" "So, what took you so long?" GMRune: Ghaleon's form blurs and he attacks the monster! GMRune: 65 damage! Earendil: Hmm, impressive. Kadan acknowledges Ghaleon's maneuver, but does not let it stray his attention. Ghaleon cheers and jumps around in a little dance! GMRune: Rein casts Heal Aura on the front row! GMRune: Kadan gains 40 hp, Valina gains 4 hp, Geint gains 40 hp, and Earendil gains 1 hp. Kadan gazes in wonder as blue sparklies permeate his body and mysterious red numbers fall from his body. GMRune: attack 1: 109 damage GMRune: attack 2: 118 damage GMRune: Ghaleon concentrates and calls down a bolt of lightning! GMRune: 22 damage! GMRune: Ghaleon looks pretty disappointed. GMRune: Rein casts Heal Litany on Earendil! GMRune: Earendil gains 41 hp! GMRune: Valina begins to sing, pounding the wurm with her sound waves. GMRune: 40 damage! GMRune: The undead wurm uses Quick Munch and bites the snot out of Earendil! GMRune: 40 damage! GMRune: Geint attacks! Earendil: Arrgh, infernal worm. GMRune: attack 1: 80 damage GMRune: attack 2: 91 damage Rein: Earendil is stuck between the wurm munching him on one side and Rein healing him on the other Rein struggles to try to close the freshly opened wounds on Earendil GMRune: Earendil's form blurs as he bashes the wurm's head to get it to stay away from him! Earendil: Take this you monstrosity! GMRune: 83 damage! GMRune: Arzel hurls a bolt of flame at the monster, barely missing Earendil's poofy hair! Arzel: Sorry Earendil. :P GMRune: 58 damage! Earendil glares angrily at Arzel. GMRune: Tarrant casts Vine Whip and lashs out at the wurm with one of his roots! GMRune: 102 damage! GMRune: attack 1: *critical* 39 damage GMRune: attack 2: *critical* 44 damage Tarrant sees the ambush looking a little lovey- dovy at himself..."I'm not that type of ambush." The bush pants. GMRune: Kadan utters a feral growl and smacks the head of his axe in the monster's skull! Ayeye looks over to Tarrant. "I don't know, I think your kind of cute." GMRune: attack 1: *critical* 162 damage Kadan: Yeee haw! Kadan clenches his teeth and pounces upon the creature in a vicious lunge. GMRune: attack 2: 99 damage GMRune: Ghaleon's form blurs and he hacks at the wurm! GMRune: 64 damage! Earendil: Hey Kadan, ever think that you take just a little too much enjoyment in this work? GMRune: Valina blurs as she deftly nips off the ends of a couple ribs. GMRune: 52 damage! Valina: :) GMRune: The wurm turns its attention from Earendil to Rein. Yummy! GMRune: attack 1: 29 damage GMRune: attack 2: miss GMRune: Rein moves up to the front row. GMRune: Geint attacks! GMRune: Arzel hurls a ball of flame at the wurm's head! Earendil: Ugh, why doesn't this thing just die!? GMRune: 62 damage! ~Geint: Ain't it already dead anyway? Earendil: Dead dead, not undead dead GMRune: Tarrant rustles and calls down a bolt of thunder to strike the wurm! GMRune: 94 damage! GMRune: -------round 4------ Ayeye: I think we would all prefer the not moving dead. GMRune: Ayeye slashes at the wurm! GMRune: 18 damage! GMRune: The wurm uses Brillance! It's eyes flash, blinding the party! Valina: Ouch! GMRune: Ayeye is blinded! Kadan is blinded! Ghaleon is blinded! Valins is blinded! Geint is blinded! Arzel is blinded! Rein: Geez... I didn't hit it that hard... Ayeye: I really hate the dark! GMRune: Valina swings aimlessly at the wurm and misses! GMRune: Geint attacks! GMRune: attack 1: miss GMRune: attack 2: miss GMRune: Earendil's form blurs and he strikes the wurm dead center where the skull meets the neck! Earendil: Let's see if you can handle this. GMRune: 75 damage! GMRune: The wurm dies! GMRune: --------victory!-------- Valina: Yea! Tarrant: Yeah. Arzel: Can I see now? GMRune: The party earns 160 XP, 73 MEXP, and 0 S. GMRune: The party can see again and Tarrant turns back to normal. The bush seems a little disappointed. Rein catches his breath. Earendil looks at his sword. "Damn, I put a ding in my sword." Valina jumps for joy! Ayeye turns to Ghaleon and smiles. "Will you stay here with us, we could use your help." Ghaleon turns to look at the party and the blue aura leaves him. He suddenly looks very tired. Rein prepares a heal aura. Tarrant tosses the bush a cookie... "There are many trees in the forest.." Valina: Oh no.. The bush snaps up the cookie and rustles happily. Valina: Leon! are you OK? Ayeye: Are you alright? Earendil: Well Ghaleon, seems that you can handle yourself pretty well in a fight now. Ghaleon: Yeah, I think so. But... I just feel so strange. Rein approaches Ghaleon and motions for the others to gather near so they can all get in on the healing Rein casts his heal aura.. Valina stands by Ghaleon, holding him softly. Earendil looks around for the sage. T'lain is standing by the crystal, peering at it. Valina runs her fingers through Leon's long, silver hair! "You'll be ok!" Ghaleon: Thanks, Valina. Earendil: T'lain, what happened? Earendil: First we see Ghaleon go in as a kid, then he comes out as a teenager. T'lain: I wish I knew. I think the shock to the crystal aged him rather than sending him to the future. It's all very strange... Valina runs her wind comb through Ghaleon's hair... singing a soft tune. Ayeye: Is he stuck here? GMRune: Kadan gains 39 hp. Rein gains 40 hp. Geint gains 9 hp. Earendil gains 40 hp. Arzel gains 40 hp. Tarrant gains 1 hp. T'lain: I don't think so. I should be able to repair the damage, but it'll take a while. Earendil looks at Valina and Ghaleon and for a moment feels a small twinge of jealousy. Valina takes a looks at Earendil and smiles. Then she continues to comfort Ghaleon. Rein looks strangely at Ghaleon, puzzled at the juxtaposition of Leon and this new person. Ayeye: How long? Earendil gets a surprised look on his face as Valina looks at him, and thinks to himself. "Nah, she couldn't have known." Arzel walks over to the crystal and looks at it. T'lain: I don't know, maybe a few days. ~Geint: Uh... wasn't there a warlock around here? Valina hears Earendil and looks back at him.. "What?" Earendil suddenly turns to look in the direction of the dead wurms body. GMRune: The wurm is quite dead, but the warlock that animated the corpse ain't around here anymore. Tarrant: Warlock.. I'm not sure. Earendil: Oh nothing, nothing at all. Ayeye takes up an attack stance, "Yes, where did he go?" Ayeye scans the room. Earendil: He's gone. GMRune: The room suddenly hums, and the cracked crystal glows ever so slightly. Something seems to be forming in front of it. Valina: Wha? Arzel: Uhh... Earendil: Here we go again. Ayeye steps away from the crystal. "What now?" T'lain scratches his chin, looking carefully at it. The great cat rumbles quietly. Kadan stands on guard. Ghaleon looks up. GMRune: Images swirl into view and fade like a translucent tapestry before the crystal. First there is darkness and starlight, then there is a bright meadow laden with sunshine. The badlands of House Flysse weave into view, and you see the village where you had met Lord Bane. Valina: Wow... is that... the future? Rein: What is this.... GMRune: You see Jael, the warlock who had taken Par away. His face seems distant for a moment, and then somewhat disappointed, the hard lines of corruption giving way to a more forlorn gaze. He is looking at something through the window of a room, but suddenly turns away and strides out of view. Valina: .. I guess not. GMRune: The image fades and another shifts into its place. Ayeye: It can't be, we haven't made our future yet ... GMRune: The interior of a great gray city appears. Robed and armored mages are the only citizens here. They are gathered to see some kind of spectacle before the twisted structure of a stone palace. Earendil: Killith no doubt. GMRune: The scene changes again, and you see two capsules of light floating above the castle. A green energy fills them, providing a barrier around the entire city. The view fades closer, and you see Mileria fading in and out of view with the pulsing of the light around her. Her eyes are closed as in sleep. The image shifts to then reveal Elron in the other capsule and in a similar state. Ghaleon: Mom... Dad... Valina: ... Kadan: ...Mileria? GMRune: The sound of hundreds of hushed voices issues from the scene, and the image swivels to hover over the spectacle below. A lone robed man is standing before the executioner's block. The black-garbed executioner comes to stand near him, giant axe held steadily in hand. Valina: What the... GMRune: The accused steps forward and the crowd tenses, ready to cheer. Earendil: No they can't. GMRune: He kneels and lays his head on the block. Valina: I can't watch! Kadan watches with an intense curiosity. Rein squints his eyes to try to determine the identity of the figure. GMRune: The executioner raises his axe. GMRune: The tapestry flashes a final time, taking you beside the doomed one. Though pale and haggard, that brief flash is all you need to recognize him. Par. Arzel: PAR!! GMRune: The images fade and the crystal goes dim. Earendil lets his sword clatter to the ground. Valina: AAH! Earendil: Par! Ayeye: We shouldn't have left him ... Valina: I really don't like this! Earendil: Monsters . . . Arzel swallows and closes his eyes. Kadan clenches a fist and holds it over his mouth. Ghaleon shudders. T'lain is quiet for a moment and then says, "A friend of yours, I take it." Valina: ... Arzel nods. Ayeye: Yes, a good friend. We let him down. Rein's lips draw to a thin line as he drops to his knees and bows his head, clasping his hands before him Earendil picks up his sword and sheaths it, "Wait, did we see what happened or what may happen in the future?" Ayeye lowers her head. Tarrant: How do we know this isn't some trick? Valina: With the future... 'may' is the word. I hope. T'lain shakes his head. "I don't know what we were shown, but this crystal deals with time and age. Since I was trying to send Ghaleon to the future, it is more likely that what we saw has yet to pass." Earendil: Then at least there is still hope. T'lain: For your friend's sake, I hope this is the future, because you'll then have time to save him. Arzel: Now we have something to think about...should we go to Par, or continue to Geint's cave. Ayeye: But, if that is the future, than we will fail. Ghaleon: The axe didn't fall though. We didn't see it happen... Earendil: The future is not set in stone, at least, I hope it isn't. Rein: We'd better hurry back.. just to be sure... Ayeye brightens up. "Ghaleon, you're right! We still can save him, we can still save them all!" Valina: ... Yea, I dont want to waist any time Ghaleon grins. Kadan holds his chin. "How necessary is the artifact in Geint's home?" T'lain: I can transport you to the village if you like. That will save you some time. But I can't bring you back though, so if your friend is all right, you'll have to find your own way back here. Valina: How necessary is our friend's life? Earendil: Arzel, the answer is clear, we have to save Par. He gave himself up so that we could go on, we now owe it to him. I won't let my quest to become a Dragonmaster become more important than my friend's lives. Arzel: T'lain, how long do you think if would take me to learn the art of teleportation magic? T'lain looks carefully at Arzel. "Well, it normally takes several years of study, although I suppose you may have it in you from what I've seen of your fight." T'lain: I might lend you a book of mine so you can study it though. With time you may come to understand it. Arzel bows slightly. "That would be greatly appreciated." Tarrant: What about me..I am tenfold the magician of Arze.. Uhh.. Lets save Par. T'lain gestures and the saber-toothed cat pads over to his desk and fetches a thick volume. The feline brings it over to Arzel. Kadan nods at the beast. Arzel: Now's not the time for magician bickering Tarrant :P Arzel takes the book from the cat. Valina: Let's save the world first! The cat rumbles a purr and moves back to T'lain. T'lain: I have something else one of you may like. It will work well for you when you return to the Red Dragon Cave. T'lain raises his hand and a sheathed sword appears in his grasp. T'lain: I believe this Ice Sword will be useful. Arzel: I think Earendil should have it. Valina: Yea... T'lain offers the sword to Earendil. Kadan looks over to Ghaleon. "And what of the boy? Will he stay here?" Ghaleon: Like hell you're gonna make me! Arzel opens up the book a flips through a few pages, then closes it and sticks it in his backpack T'lain smiles slightly. "I think he can stay with you. He should be safe enough, and he'd only get bored around here waiting for me." Earendil: This is a fine blade, are you sure you want to part with it? Arzel wanders over to Tarrant/ T'lain: You're more than welcome to it. I have no use for it anymore. Earendil takes the sword. "Thank you sir." Valina: I think would be great to have Ghaleon along! Valina smiles at Ghaleon! Earendil takes off his Onyx Sword and equips the Ice Sword. Arzel mutters something to Tarrant. T'lain: Now I take it you want to return to G'kal? Arzel nods. "I'm set." Tarrant nods his head. Earendil: Hey Valina, would you like this Onyx Blade, it might be useful. Valina: Humm.... Valina looks at her rapier. Valina: Well... I dont think I can give this up for anything. Thanks anyways Earendil. Rein stands up and nods. "I hope we are successful, for everyone's sake." Earendil: As you wish, what about you, Leon? Valina: This blade belonged a very good friend of mine. Ghaleon: Sure! I'd love to use it! T'lain raises his hands and mutters a few words. He gestures, and the party suddenly fins themsleves south of the village they ran head over heels out of. Kadan shudders and takes a moment to adjust. Valina: Ummm... whoa Earendil leans on his sword for a minute to adjust to the sudden change. Earendil gets and his bearings and suddenly remembers, "Oh, here's the sword Leon." Ghaleon bows with a flush of energy and happily takes Earendil's old sword. "Thanks!" Ghaleon suddenly finds it funny to be looking at Earendil at about eye level. ~Geint: Well? Are we going in to look for Par or not? Ayeye: Yes, of course we are. Arzel looks at the party, wondering why we're not going. Ayeye looks around. "Where do we look?" Kadan shrugs and starts walking. GMRune: The party enters the village. Very few people are walking the streets, and those that see the party quickly scuttle away from you. Arzel: I have the funny feeling people don't like us here... Kadan: I think we made an impression... Valina: Ohh... I see we are real popular here Earendil: Guess we're not that easy to forget. Ghaleon: Well, you guys did try trashing that big bad guy. Ayeye: But he won! Rein looks around slowly and pushes up the brim of his stetson. Arzel: What? Nine heavily armed adventurers aren't normal is this place? Valina: Yes Ghaleon dear... we did! Now you know what happens when your mean to people, even when the people you are mean to are mean. GMRune: You see an adobe building that seems to be of the same color as the one Jael was seen in during the images. Valina: But sometimes you do what you have to do. Rein: I guess this is it. Valina slowly walks over to the building, while teaching Ghaleon morals. Kadan clenches his fists, trying to avoid the feeling of the warlocks that surely lurk about. Ghaleon pays attention to Val's morals with the attention span of a five-year-old. Ayeye: I hope that Lord Bane isn't here ... Earendil: You know, sneaking into warlock's houses is becoming a regular thing for us. Rein: Maybe we should come up with a plan rather than just our usual frontal assault. GMRune: The building is of medium size, although definately larger than the normal homes and shops here. It is two stories and the rooms inside are dim. Valina: Yea.. Ayeye: You mean like knocking on the door and distracting them while some of us enter through the rear? Valina: Too bad I'm not on the inside this time. Valina: Of course, I'd rather be here. Ghaleon: I don't think this is a warlock house. It's too small. Maybe work building. Rein: Well, something along those lines. Ayeye: Any ideas? Valina: ... but still, it is a warlock building. Ghaleon nods. Valina: Hey everybody, remind me to keep quiet this time. ~Geint snickers and holds up a gag. Valina: Thanks Geint, but I don't think that is necessary. Rein: Well... what ways in do we see, besides the front door? ~Geint puts the gag away in netherspace. GMRune: There is one window on the first floor that you can see from the from of the building. There are three more on the second floor placed at even intervals. Earendil: We could always climb in a window, but that would be too obvious. Valina: We can dig a hole through the side. Rein: What about the roof? GMRune: The building itself has seen better days as the adobe bricks look somewhat crumbly. Arzel: *while the party is deciding I take out my book and start to read the first page* Ayeye: It's a bit high, don't you think? Valina seeks by the first floor window and peeks in. Earendil: I wonder if warlocks are subject to routine visits by building inspectors? Arzel: I don't think so Ear... Rein: I think that might be kinda.. well.. noisy Arzel: At least not eight of 'em and a flying bunny. Rein: Well.. what about some kind of distraction? ~Geint screws her face up in a pouty look at Arzel. Valina: Hmm... I think this is the room we saw Jael in the crystal! Arzel: Whoops...sorry Geint, 'a baby dragon'. Ayeye: Is anyone in there? Geint smiles. :} Arzel: Slip of the tongue. Valina: Nope Earendil: We could have Valina and Ayeye make trouble in the town square again, that would get everybody's attention. Rein: On second thought, maybe not :) Valina: Thanks... but no thanks! Ayeye looks toward the town square, "I don't see any warlocks." Ghaleon: Why don't we just break a window and get this over with? Valina thinks at least I wouldn't be executed... Gausuton wouldn't like that, and he would destroy bane... but still not worth it. Earendil: Well Leon, simple things like that seem to elude us most of the time. Ayeye: Rein wanted to have a plan instead of our usual straight forward entrance. Valina: Any ideas Rein: Well... we just get beaten on so CONSISTANTLY... oh never mind :) Ghaleon shrugs. "Break a window." Rein: Fine... anyone got a rock? Ghaleon points at the bush. Valina: Ok...but lets do it real quiet-like. Ayeye shrugs and smashes her claws through the window. Valina follows Ayeye. GMRune: The window breaks! *crack* *tinkle* *tinkle* The way is open, but you might want to be sure not to cut yourselves. Kadan appears quite on edge, and watches the group's back obsessively. Arzel makes a face at the book and puts it away Ayeye climbs in through the window, careful not to kill herself on the sharp, pointy glass. Arzel follows Ayeye. Rein follows. Ghaleon uses his new sword to smash away all the glass still sticking out of the frame. He then climbs on in. Valina: ... whatever works. Earendil climbs through the window. Kadan warily crawls in, with some struggle. Arzel: You and your brawn Kadan, can't even make it though windows :P GMRune: You find yourselves in a small office with shattered glass on the floor. It appears to be the exactly the room Jael was in during the crytal's images. There is a solid desk and a chair taking up most of the room. The walls are painted a faded yellow. Kadan accosts Arzel with the Stare of Death. Rein: This doesn't look so exciting. GMRune: There is a door to the right of the desk, which is currently closed. Arzel sticks his tongue out at Kadan. :P Valina searches the desk for anything of interest. Ayeye: Does anyone remember if there was broken glass on the floor in the image? Earendil puts his hand on the doorknob and turns to the group. "Well, shall we make our entrance official?" Tarrant: Seems like we're close. Ghaleon: There was no glass. Not that I remember. Valina finds a journal in the desk and picks it up. Valina: What's this... Arzel: What ya find Val? Valina reads the journal she found in the desk. Valina: A journal/ Arzel wanders over to take a look. Valina: Ohhh great... Valina: Umm everybody Arzel: Ya? Earendil: What is it? Valina: Par isn't here. Arzel: WHAT? Kadan: Hmm... Valina: They are taking him to Killith! Our FAVORITE place! Earendil: Shit! Arzel: Not Killith... Valina: They left yesterday... Ayeye: We're late... Arzel sighs. Kadan: Killith...? The city of the damned... Arzel: Well let's book it! The faster we go the faster we get there. Valina: Well... according to this journal. It was written by Jael. Earendil: If there was ever a time we needed wyburns, it's now. Valina shows everybody the journal.. Arzel: I'm afraid this teleportation magic is kinda over my head, so it'll be a while before I can use it, unfortunately. Kadan: Now, let's be sensible about that. That city is a nightmare on the Earth. To enter is to die, at least in our current state. GMRune: The journal is written by Lord Jael of House Flysse. Two days ago Par was recognized as a member of the outlawed House Magus by a visiting warlock. Yesterday he was taken out of Jael's custody to be delievered to Kargeth in Killith. Rein: Surely we can overtake them.... Valina: Hehehe... Earendil: We did try to go to Killith before, but we got . . . sidetracked. Valina stands close to Ghaleon. Earendil: What's so funny Valina? Arzel: Kadan, we just can't abandon Par... Valina: Umm... I dont like the idea of going to Killith.. but we must for Pars sake. Ghaleon pauses for a bit. "I don't know about wyburns. But I remember where we pased by some gryphons. Think we can use them?" Arzel: Good thinking Ghaleon... Valina: How many days travle do you think it is! We may be able to catch up to Par! Earendil: Gryphons tend to be a bit on the wild side, but we can try. Rein: They can't be worse than wyburns. Ghaleon: They were north of House Flysse's manors, before we fell down the hole. Ghaleon: Maybe almost a day's travel? Arzel: Uhh, afraid they are Rein...thoes wyburns were trained...these gryphons aren't... Kadan: I remember... I never much cared for air travel, however. Rein: Hmm... sounds.. fun ~Geint flaps over to the window. "Well, Par isn't getting any more time! Let's get going!" Arzel: Ya can ride with me Rein. :P Arzel: I agree with Geint...we sould go now. Earendil: Before we go, you don't suppose the people in this town would sell us supplies do you? Rein: Ok.. I might take you up on that, Arzel. Valina: You're right Ear. I could use an herb or two. But do you think they will sell to us? Ayeye: They seem to remember us, so it doesn't seem likely. Earendil: I guess we should try then. Ghaleon climbs out the window, almost smacking his head against the frame. Arzel heads toward the window. Valina exits. Earendil heads out the window feet first and lands on his butt. "Ow, remind me not to do that again." Valina looks for a shop. Arzel helps Ear up. Valina laughs at Ear! Earendil: Thanks Arzel. Valina: Hehehe Earendil gives Valina that "don't say anything look." Arzel snickers. GMRune: There's a weapon store, but it appears as though it hasn't been used in a long time. However the item store seems open for business. Valina then smiles at Earendil. Valina approches the item store. Earendil looks at the closed weapon store. "The warlocks probably don't let the villagers have weapons." Arzel: They wouldn't let anyone have a weapon if they could. Rein: Let's just pick up some herbs and get out of here, we've got no time to lose. Arzel: Yup. GMRune: The party enters the item store. A short man with a thin mustache stands behind the counter. His lips twitch as he sees you enter. Arzel stays near the door. Kadan folds his arms and stands in the corner, looking either irritated or upset. Arzel: I don't need anything. Shopkeeper: Wha... what are you people here for? Rein looks around for starlights. Earendil: What most people do in shops, to buy things. GMRune: There are a few starlights behind the shopkeeper, and herbs and jasmine are availible in bins on your side of the counter. Shopkeeper: Yes but... The warlocks you know... I can't just serve you guys like normal customers! Someone might turn me in! Arzel: How much is jasmine? GMRune: There is a sign by the bin saying 60 S a piece. Tarrant: How much for the Starlight? Earendil: You can always say that we held a sword up to you and stole what we wanted. Shopkeeper: Still... Oh, alright. I'll help you. But my services won't come cheap.
