GMRune: Then the massive form of a seven foot pantherlike humanoid appeared in the room to the voices of the long dead shadowcats. His eyes glowed red, and then everything was swallowed in blackness. Geint: O_O Kadan: >:) GMRune: Though all is dark, you can see each other, and Garreth and the shadowcat as well as if you were in bright day. However there is no sign of the chamber you were once in. Geint: That guy's behind is sure going down, now. The shadowcat stands proudly in the midst of your group as he hefts his battleaxe easily. Valina: Yea... Arzel looks around. Garreth squirms, still holding the mask. Garreth: What the hell kind of thing have you guys conjured up over there?! Earendil: It's a present for you, Garreth. Kadan: Grrrraaaawwwrr! Valina: Oh... This is going to be fun... Rein stands back uncertainly... a little in awe of this figure in our midst. Geint: ...I'm begining to accept these things happening in this group..... nothing really suprises me anymore. The shadowcat looks solemnly to Kadan. "Is that wimpering man with the mask your enemy?" Kadan squints. "He has threatened my friend. I have no respect for him or his means." Garreth: Wimpering?! Garreth stands tall, regaining his confidence. Geint: Well... we could also say quivering.... cowering... so feel glad we said wimpering! Garreth: I don't care what that thing is or how it got here, but I still have a mission to do and I'm going to fulfill it! Garreth begins uttering the words to a magic spell... "You wouldn't happen to have a house in your pouch would you?" GMRune: ------victory------- GMRune: Ayeye wakes up with 1 hp. Valina: WOW! Valina: We did it! GMRune: The party gains 50 XP and 154 MEXP. GMRune: Earendil wakes up. Tarrant: Thank you my plant friend. Kadan kneels down and checks on Ayeye. Garreth pants on the ground, trying to stand up. Rein goes around stomping out flames. Garreth: Gaaaahh... Arzel... If it wasn't for you and your damn companions...! Valina looks at the weak Garreth. Valina: Or did we? Arzel looks at Garreth "You got what you deserved!" Kadan: Garreth... you made your enemies. You have no right to complain about them. Valina thinks... that was too easy Garreth glares banefully at Arzel and then passes out on the floor. Arzel: I told him joining the Warlocks wouldn't lead to anything good. Geint looks down at Ayeye, too. "She was the tin person...." Earendil takes his eyes off Garreth and turns them toward the massive figure of the shadowcat. Ayeye gets up, looks around, sees the humanoid cat, and sits back down. "I think I'm seeing things." The shadowcat regards the party carefully and then looks to Kadan. Arzel walks over to stand beside Garreth's body. GMRune: His eyes gleam brightly. Kadan stands up from Ayeye and looks at the creature with fascination. Shadowcat: You are still young for a shadowcat, Kadan. But there is no way I could not know you for who you are. The shadowcat takes a step forward, looking down slightly to meet Kadan's eyes. Kadan looks dumbfounded and bewildered. "You... you know what's happening to me, don't you?" Shadowcat: Indeed I do. And I know the time for your maturation will be soon. Shadowcat: But you seem... uncomfortable with this. Valina looks amazed! Kadan still seems to be in a state of shock. "So you mean... that I... all these things... like you...? And you said I was... the last? Since Kate... ...?" Kadan turns his head away. Arzel ignores the background and stares down at the body of his life-long rival Shadowcat: Your sister Kate was one of us as well, although like you, she did not know it. The shadowcat claps a hand on Kadan's shoulder. Kadan: So... what does this mean? Am I to avenge her death? Lately, my affirmations about what's right and wrong have been shaken. I don't take... change too well. Ayeye runs her hand through her hair. "What happened?" Shadowcat: I am not surprised. Change comes hard to us all. But as shadowcats we remember these changes, so that they may be of use to us in the future. Rein points discretely at the Shadowcat and Kadan for Ayeye's benefit. Shadowcat: If you wish to learn more of your heritage, you need only hold the mask that your foe had tried to take. It will allow you to begin your journey, both in mind and body. Shadowcat: It will take you to where you need to go. Kadan looks up at the ceiling. "You must tell me... what is this place? Why was I shown such painful parts of my past?" Ayeye whispers to Rein. "But, who is the giant cat?" Shadowcat: This place was our ancient home. We shadowcats cut it from the rock in the ancient days of Lunar. Geint: o/~ If I only had a brain...... o/~ ? n/m....... Shadowcat: As for your visions... shadowcats have the ability to call up the past. Rein: eh... I'm not sure, actually :\ Rein: I'll let you know when I figure it out though :) GMRune: Arzel finds 50 S and an Onyx Sword on Garreth's body. Arzel bends down and takes Garreth's sword and his money. Geint: He can have such visions that even we can see them? Kadan looks introspectively thoughtful. "I... I don't know what I want anymore. I only know that my peace will come after I complete this hunt... that's the only thing that brings me meaning nowadays." Shadowcat: Any shadowcat may call up the past around him or her to reveal what has transpired. Kadan's ability is not trained yet though. It only happened as a random occurance. No doubt the magic within these walls has helped induce it. Valina: Kadan... Magic... ummm I don't see the mix. Shadowcat: There are a few events that herald the coming of age for a shadowcat, and I believe young Kadan has experienced them all up to this point. Kadan: What... what does this mean? What will I see in this mask? Geint: Heh.... now we have two tribals in our group... who knows. we may go for 3.... Shadowcat: What you will see, will be your life. You have seen the past already, and it will take you to your present and future. Rein gasps. "What an opportunity, Kadan!" Earendil: The future . . . hmmm. Valina: But can the future really be known? Kadan looks worried and frustrated. "But... what am I to do? Is this the meaning of my life? Is this why I was born? I'm not sure what I understand anymore. Shadowcat: We see all time as it happens. We can bring life to what has past, and walk the mists of the future. We cannot be completely certain, but we can believe. Shadowcat: Your life is only what you wish to do with it, Kadan. Your being a shadowcat is no difference from Valina being a human. The shadowcat waits to see if Kadan has anything else to ask. Kadan: But... what responsibility am I to bear? Is it my duty to eradicate magic from this land? I thought I was working on it, but then I just keep getting new duties. New responsibilities. None of it offering me any guidance or direction... Shadowcat: Your duty, so far as I can tell you, is to simply watch over this world. Let the truth be known, and do not let magic be abused. While physical strength will protect you, the innate magic within can be a boon as well. Don't forget what you have been trying to hide. Rein looks on Kadan's confusion with sympathy, but is unable to offer assistance. Kadan: I suppose the only way I'll know what lies in store for me is to look into this mask... Kadan closes his eyes, looks down, then takes a deep breath and walks up to the mask. The shadowcat nods reassuringly. Valina looks at Kadan... wide eyed! Kadan hesitates and turns around. "Ayeye, come here." Rein clasps his hands before him. Earendil: Kadan, remember that the future is not written in stone. Ayeye cautiously approaches Kadan. "What is going on?" Kadan: Ayeye, if something strange happens to me, or for whatever reason I don't see you again, I ask that you remember the charge I received in Lentol, and that you continue my watch over this group and make sure they complete their obligation. Arzel looks up from Garreth's boddy as he sees Kadan aproaching Ayeye: Err, I will. Kadan nods resignedly and turns to face the mask, breathing rapidly. Valina looks in amazement... Kadan picks the object up, his hands shaking. Kadan: What am I to do...? The shadowcat steps beside Kadan. Shadowcat: Simply put it on. Kadan closes his eyes, holds his breath and presses the strange mask against his face. GMRune: The mask slides easily over Kadan's head, although it seems somewhat loose on him. And then a white light begins to glow, enveloping Kadan, and spreading into a large sphere around him. GMRune: All of you around him feel a sort of suction, as if the mask is dragging you towards it! And Kadan begins to fade, melding into the brightness. Tarrant watches in awe as the mask spreads. Valina: Arghhh... Earendil: What the . . . ? GMRune: The light passes, and you find yourselves back in the square chamber. Kadan is gone. Geint: Huh? Geint: Well, there goes Kadan. Earendil: Where did he go? Arzel looks around. Ayeye looks around the chamber, "Will someone please explain what is going on?" Rein puts a hand to his head. Arzel: If only we knew, Ayeye. Valina looks at the nothingness... GMRune: The shadowcat is gone as well. Earendil: Do we stay here and wait, or should we go back outside? Valina: I dunno. GMRune: A groaning sound rises up within the keep. Rock grates against rock, and then all is silent. Ayeye: We have to wait, Kadan must return! Arzel: So, what are we going to do now that the Lumox is gone? Tarrant: Let's go.. I don't want to stay here too much longer... Ayeye glares at Arzel. Rein: But we couldn't just LEAVE him here! Par looks down at Garreth. "What are we going to do with HIM anyway?" Arzel: I'm sure Kadan can find his way out! Rein looks around for support. Earendil: Magic does strange things, perhaps he will reappear wherever we are. Arzel looks at Garreth and walks away from the body. Valina: I guess we are just going to have to continue. Tarrant: We must always continue. Ayeye: You just want to get rid of Kadan! Par sighs. Arzel: How observant of you Ayeye, I still don't truly trust him, and this.... Earendil: Settle down Ayeye, we do not want to get rid of him. In fact, we must protect him at all costs. Arzel sighs. "Yes, Earendil is right. He's the last of the Shadowcats." Ayeye: Good, if we must protect him, than we must wait for him to return. At least wait a little. Rein: Now let's think about this? Do we have any clue where he might have gone, or how long he'll be there? Valina: No clue Par: None that I have. Ayeye: I don't know, I was knocked out by Garreth, and when I woke up, everything had changed. Arzel: Garreth WILL wake-up soon Geint: I don't.......think I do..... Geint is baffled!! =D Earendil: Fine, let's wait, but we will leave if this place starts falling apart. We can't protect Kadan if we're all dead. Par: Maybe we should tie Garreth up. Tarrant: We have better thinks to do like...save the world.. Ayeye: Could someone explain what happened? The bush yips to Ayeye and hops out of the backpack. Arzel: Anyone have any rope? The bush waddles back and forth in front of her, trying to do a pantomine. Geint: Well, you passed out, started floating, and Kadan and I tried to stop you, and when Kaddy touched the force feild everything went nutty. Tarrant pets the bush. Earendil searches through his pack and hands Arzel some rope. The bush slurps Tarrant's hand. Ayeye: What about the oversized cat? Geint: You see... Kadan is a shadowcat...... Ayeye: He's not...human? Geint: You know... like the big kitties I told you about? The tribe I thought was extinct? Earendil: And that cat was the spirits of dead shadowcats. Arzel walks over and ties up Garreth. Garreth starts to stir as Arzel pushes him around. Tarrant takes something out of his pocket, a piece from Kadan's shirt.. Arzel: Anyone want this onyx sword of Garreth's or should I use it? Geint: Yea. Telling Kadan that he hasn't fully grasped being a shadowcat yet because he's young for one. Rein: Maybe we should decide how long we are going to wait before we try something else. Tarrant takes the fabric and puts it in front of the bush... "Find him boy!" Arzel: It's a bush, Tar, not a dog. The bush sniffs the cloth, and then slurps it up in one swift movement! It burps noisily. Earendil: Perhaps Valina could use that sword. Tarrant: Anybody else have any ideas? Valina: I got my sword, thanks! Rein: Using that sword may not be the best idea... Geint: *sigh* wherever he went to.... I think he's far from here. Arzel looks at his claws and then to the sword Geint: And I don't think he'll return to this spot anytime soon. Earendil: Why, I have one just like it? It doesn't seem to have a bad aura around it. Rein: oh.. okay then Ayeye: He certainly looked human...Did anyone find the staff? Par: Garreth said the message about the staff was a trap for us. Although I wonder how he could have known we'd find it. Geint: I'm cold. Earendil: By Althena, I forgot all about the staff. Garreth moans from down on the floor. Arzel equips the sword! Geint: Should I make him go nappy bye? GMRune: Arzel equips the Onyx Sword! :) Earendil: Arzel, sure you know how to use a sword efficiently? Rein: Does anyone have any rope? Ayeye frowns. "So we accomplished nothing. No sign of Kadan. We should continue. Kadan would have wanted that." Arzel: Yes, Earendil! Tarrant thinks of himself wielding the Staff, and controlling the power of lightning. Rein nods at Arzel. Arzel: I can use many types of weapons! Ayeye: If this was a trap, were do we go next? Garreth blinks his eyes open and groans. "Dammit." Rein: SO who's going to carry our friend there? Earendil: Swords require a certain type of finesse and grace, they must become part of you, but I'm sure that you can use it well enough. Arzel: Oh, finaly awake, Garreth. Garreth spits at Arzel's feet. Tarrant turns to see Garreth. Arzel: I told you nothing good would come of you joining the Warlocks! Geint: Feeling flemish today, are we, Garreth? Garreth sticks his tongue out at Arzel. "I'm still more powerful than you, you little wuss!" Garreth: It's only cuz you all ganged up on me that I lost! Geint: Yes! But Arzel has better catch phrases! Earendil: You would do well not to stick that tounge out Garreth, unless you want to find that you are without one. Geint: BEAT THAT. Arzel: Oh Garreth, you and your friends ganged up on me when you gave me this scar. Garreth eyes Geint warily. Rein: Shall we? Arzel: Maybe I should give you a matching scar, Garreth. Garreth: Pah! It's not like I needed the help! Par: Um... do we have to be so... unfriendly right now? Geint: Well... Arzel DOES have better catch phrases...... and one-liners. Garreth manages to get himself into a sitting position and sulks. Arzel takes the sword out and puts it near Garreth's chin. Geint: Now Garreth... keep making that face and it'll freeze that way... Ayeye: So, what do we do with him? We can't bring him with us. Garreth glares unflichingly at Arzel. Arzel: And why-not Ayeye, I'm sure the rebellion would love to have him Arzel: Or maybe Kadan's magic hating buddies. Ayeye: Can you carry him? Par grimaces, not sure if even Garreth should be dumped among Kadan's buddies. Arzel: I'm sure he can walk...if he wants to live. Ayeye: Get him moving then, we have things to do. Valina: Yea. Geint: Or he'll get beat up if he tries passive resistance!! Why doesn't Ayeye lead him? =) Earendil: We can't keep Garreth with us forever. Garreth snickers. "Oh I'll walk all right! You just wait...". Arzel: I thought we decided to wait for Kadan Geint: Well... we waited alright. Rein: And I thought we'd been over that. Geint: And he still hasn't returned. Ayeye: We can't wait forever. He would have wanted us to continue. Rein: Let's go! Valina: Yea Rein: I'm sure we'll find him. Arzel: Well, shall we take Garreth with us? I don't want to make decisions for the group. Earendil: Let's stop by that magic refilling stone first. Arzel: I am sure ready to kill him right here and now. Rein: I think we'd better. Ayeye: I'm not taking care of him, do whatever you want. Rein: Could he be useful, Par? Geint: Useful as monster bait maybe. Par: I think he would. But I'm not sure if we can chance it. I haven't master transfer magic yet. Earendil: Maybe we could leave him off in Vane? Par: Perhaps. I know the resistance there would keep a good watch over him. Geint: Heh heh... let them attack him... Valina: Heh heh heh ya.. Arzel: Well, let's just make sure he can't cast any spells. Garreth: I'm already tied up you dumb ass! Of course I can't cast! Arzel: Every good wizard can escape from ropes. Ayeye: Well, get him moving, we have an Empire to overthrow! Earendil: I can see if I can mute him for extra protection. The bush waddles up to Ayeye, looking at the backpack expectantly. Ayeye picks up the bush. Arzel grabs Garreth and jerks him up to a standing position. GMRune: Earendil casts Quiet on Garreth. It fails. Garreth glares balefully at Earendil as Arzel pushed him along. Earendil: Looks like I need some more training in the magic department. GMRune: The party leaves the huge chamber, prodding Garreth with them. Arzel: He IS a warlock, Ear. Ayeye takes one last look around the room and sighs. "I wish you luck Kadan, wherever you are." GMRune: You see passages to your right and left, as well as the stairs down. Arzel: Anyone have some tape and a nice large peice of cloth? Rein nods agreement. Earendil: So am I, sort of. Valina: Humm.. yea, so we better make it nice and tight! Garrath spits at Arzel again. Geint takes the gag out of neitherspace that one of Kadan's friends tied around her mouth. Valina: Let me show you how this is done! GMRune: Geint's bunny gag is too small for Garreth. :) Geint: =( Too small... Valina punches Garreth in the belly. Ayeye heads down the corridor on her right. Earendil snickers. Arzel: Do your worst Val. Garreth grunts and doubles over a bit. Valina: Oh.. I will.. :) GMRune: The party follows Ayeye to the right. Arzel: Make sure you gag him though, we don't nedd him casting spells. Valina: Good idea. GMRune: After a short distance the passage ends in a single wooden door. Ayeye opens the door. Garreth seems on the verge of insulting someone again, but doesn't. Valina takes some cloth and ties it around Garreth's mouth! Valina: There. GMRune: You all see a small and neatly organized room. The wood is extraordinarily well-preserved. You see a large bedfram, a desk, and a trunk. Arzel: No Val, that's not how you gag someone! Ayeye: What are we looking for here? Can we trust Garreth about the staff? Garreth glares at Valina. Arzel: You take the cloth, stuff it in his mouth, then tie it in with rope so he can't spit it out! Earendil proceeds to open the trunk. Arzel redoes the gag his way. GMRune: Inside the trunk you find a suit of silver-lined leather armor. Arzel: There, nearly harmless Garreth! Earendil: Ahh, just what I needed. Valina: Hey! GMRune: The armor is too small for Earendil. Rein: Wow, that's quite nice. Garreth grumbles some angry sounds at Arzel. Earendil: Ooh, a bit tight I'm afraid, anybody else want it? Earendil: Valina? Ayeye turns to Garreth, "Is the staff here? Your life is at stake!" Arzel hits Garreth on the back of the head with the hilt of his sword, not hard enough to knock him out, but hard enough to hurt like hell. Garreth is muffled. Garreth growls something. Garreth shakes his head at Ayeye. Rein watches Arzel uncomfortably. Ayeye: Arzel, he's your friend, can he be trusted right now? Arzel: FRIEND?! Ayeye: Answer the question. Arzel: Garreth is the most untrustworthy person I know, I bet he'd rather die than help us. Arzel looks at Rein. "What?" Garreth tries kicking Arzel in the shins. Rein raises his hands. "What are ya lookin' at me for !??!" Ayeye: Then we search the place. If it's found, Garreth can have his death wish. Geint: Now no playing footsies, Garreth! Arzel kicks Garreth's leg that isn't kicking out from under him. Earendil hands Valina the armor. Garreth falls over on the floor. Valina takes the armor. GMRune: The armor seems too big for Valina. Her torso is too small. Valina: Thanks :) Arzel: Still have alot of fight in you 'eh Garreth? Valina: Well, it was worth a shot! Valina: How about you Rein? Rein: Hmm... Oh.. I'll try it.. Rein tries the armor. Ayeye: How big was the staff? GMRune: Rein can fit into the armor without much discomfort. Arzel: 'bout 6 foot tall Ayeye. Rein: Okay.. well, I guess I'll be keeping it then. Arzel lifts Garreth off the floor again. Ayeye looks around the room for a place to hide a 6 foot staff. Earendil opens up the desk, while the others are arguing. GMRune: Earendil finds a set of writing quills and an inkwell in the desk. Ayeye: It doesn't seem to be in this room, I'm going to check the other hall. Arzel follows Ayeye prodding Garreth in front of him. Rein: Oh, ok... Garreth glowers. If steam could come out of his head, it would. GMRune: The party enters the left passage way. It likewise ends in a wooden door. Earendil: Arzel, don't have too much fun with him. Rein: Ayeye, why don't you take this new armor... I'm rather partial to my chain mail and you're in the middle of battle more anyway. Arzel: I'm just going to repay him for old debts, Ear...with interest. Rein opens the door Garreth steps on Arzel's foot. Valina: That's the way to do it Arzel. Arzel hits Garreth again with the sword hilt. Arzel: You like pain don't you, Garreth? Garreth grunts and starts walking again. Ayeye looks at the armor Rein is offering. "Are you sure you don't need it?" GMRune: You see another room similiar to the last one. Rein: It's got your name on it! GMRune: But this one is empty save for a large cabinet. Rein tries the cabinet. GMRune: Rein finds three large halberds and four spears inside the cabinet. They seem well preserved. GMRune: They seem to have been made for the shadowcats due to their larger than average size. Rein: Hmm... Rein: Anybody want one? Ayeye: If you're sure you don't need that armor, I could use it... Earendil tries one of the halberds. Valina looks around. Rein takes one for Kadan. GMRune: Rein gets a halberd. Arzel: Where to now? Ayeye: Can we risk letting Garreth speak? He may know the location of the staff. Valina: I could sue for some armor... but nothing fits! Earendil: Hmm, this might be useful latter, think I'll keep one. Arzel: He can't cast with his hands tied GMRune: Earendil gets a halberd. Arzel: I'll take the gag off. Garreth nods. Arzel undoes the rope and takes the gag out, but holds his sword near Garreth's neck. Ayeye points a claw at Garreth's throat. "Where is the staff?" Garreth huffs. "Finally! You stuffed that sucker in too deeply, my friend." Garreth: The Staff is in Killith, lady, where it should be! Arzel: Aww, poor Garreth. I really don't care if you can't breathe! Valina: I'm sure it is more fun to watch him suffer a bit... then you can get some information out of him Garreth bites back a scathing remark directed at Arzel. Arzel: I have a feeling he's right. He arrived here before us, he could of found the staff and sent it back to Killith before we arrived. Valina stomps on Garreth's foot! Ayeye sighs. "Well, we have our new destination. We should get moving." Garreth clamps his teeth shut and glares at Valina. Earendil: . . . . back to Killith. Arzel: Shall I gag him again? Ayeye: Yes, please. Garreth sticks his tongue out at Arzel again, but quickly pulls it back in. Valina: Please. Ayeye puts away her weapon. Arzel attempts to gag Garreth again. Geint: I've heard a good way to torture someone is to pull out their hairs.... one by one...... Garreth knees Arzel in the gut! Garreth makes a break for it! Arzel: Damn you, Garreth! Ayeye runs to catch him. Garreth barrels through the party and down the passageway. Valina: WHAT Arzel runs after him trying to cast smoke choke on him. Earendil runs after Garreth. Valina: He's getting away! GMRune: Arzel casts Smoke Choke as Garreth reaches the stair well! Geint glides after him through the air speedily. Valina follows Garreth. GMRune: Garreth falls unconscious and falls down the stairs. Arzel: Go get him, Geint! Valina stops at the top of the stairs. Par: I DON'T think he's going to be getting up anytime soon. Arzel goes down the stairs after him. Rein: This guy doesn't seem to make good decisions. Par: An embarrassment to all who practice magic... Valina: This time let ME tie the knot! Earendil: Let's ditch him here. GMRune: Rein gave the leather amor to Ayeye BTW. Valina goes down the stairs... rope in hand. Ayeye: If we leave him, he will come back to haunt us. GMRune: The party goes down the stair and finds Garreth crumpled at the base of it. Arzel uses another peice of rope to tie around Garreth's ankles, 2 and 1/2 foot slack, serving as a nice hobble. I don't think he'll be running very well anymore GMRune: A grey mist arises from the hallway of the second floor. GMRune: You hear a song rises from within the mist. Valina ties the rope around Garreth's arms... making a pretty bow in the back! Geint: Heh... maybe our friend returned. Arzel: Uhh, is there supposed to be a band down here? o/~ O long have we waited amid guarded halls Ever wandering these hated walls. Cursed be they o' the shadows, To leave behind us weeping widows. Hearken we to calls of battles, Fighting amid the stinging nettles. Our foe we chased to this abode. Our doom this place did not forebode. Alas we must waver here, Until this moon's final year. Only then may we ere away, At the come of break of day. o/~ Arzel looks around. GMRune: Four shapes come trudging through the murk. Geint: Kitty widows? Rein: Eep! Arzel looks worried. GMRune: They look somewhat like the wraiths from earlier, but yet at the same time... they are not. There is a wrathful chill about them. GMRune: The voices cry out again. Arzel looks at the group. "Another of the tribes maybe..." Rein glares at the wraiths with a mixture of pity and disgust. Earendil: That is not the most catching tune. Ayeye: Move! Fast! Let's get out of here! GMRune: The wraiths turn to regard the party. o/~ Who is this before us now? Who's passage in here we know not how? o/~ Arzel: Uhh... GMRune: The wraiths get closer, and they are definately the figures of human men, warriors apparently. Ayeye steps forward, "We mean no harm, we were just leaving." Valina: Oh great Rein averts his eyes, not wishing to look upon the undead Earendil: Warriors, we come to help you rest! Arzel looks at Ear. "We have?" Wraith: o/~ No harm you say, but come what may, your voices do not tell of hope from misbegotten hell. o/~ Valina: Oh... great. Earendil: Tell us how we may save you from this hell. Ayeye: Hope from hell? Isn't that a contradiction? Wraith: o/~ Help? Help is such a wanted thing. But no relief can you bring. Not till the shadow falls within these walls... o/~ Geint: Yea and why are you taking this out us? Arzel: Shadow falls within these walls? Geint: The shadow... you mean shadowcat, right? Geint: He did... then left. =b Ayeye: Moons final year...break of day...shadows fall...What is the moon's final year? Wraith: "Shadowcats, shadowbeast.... Their names matter not, not in the least. Fell they are, and more they'd vy, if only they would let shadows lie..." Par: The end of Lunar I'd presume. Earendil: Perhaps you deserve not our help afterall. Arzel nods to Par. "That was what I was thinking." Ayeye: Why the end of Lunar? I thought they were talking about a moon? Valina: That doesnt sound good at all. Wraith: Great thrist have we to see, and your souls ours soon shall be! Till the shadow falls with these walls, forever must we drink, ere our hopes forever sink! GMRune: The four wraiths fan out to either side. Ayeye: Why is everyone out to get us? GMRune: -----round 1------- Earendil: So be it, evil spirits. Rein: Alright, you aberrations, you asked for it! Par: Maybe they can't appear to see, that their only hopes we may be. :P Geint: Not you too, Par. Ayeye glares at Par, "Don't you start." GMRune: Par smirks. "Just a mild joke." GMRune: target: 4 mist wraiths GMRune: Ayeye attacks Wraith #4! GMRune: attack 1: 1 damage GMRune: attack 2: 1 damage GMRune: Geint casts Rage Slash as Valina casts Air Slice! The air wipes around the enemy line, cutting deeply into them as Blade Barrier is cast! GMRune: 100 damage to each! Earendil: Wow! Valina: Way to go Geint! We are so cool! Rein spins crazily as turbulent gusts of air shoot everywhere Geint: yaahaa! GMRune: Earendil calls down a massive bolt of thunder! It strikes wraith #1! GMRune: Wraith #1 has critical weakness to thunder magic. 52 damage! GMRune: Wraith #1 is dead! Valina: HA! Earendil: It's just a flick of the wrist. GMRune: Rein aims a swing of his staff at the mid- section of wraith #2! GMRune: 6 damage! GMRune: Wraith #2 attacks Geint! GMRune: 27 damage! GMRune: Wraith #3 attacks Valina! GMRune: 21 damage! GMRune: Wraith #4 attacks Earendil! GMRune: 7 damage! GMRune: White light flares up around Arzel as he aims a beam of light at wraith #2! GMRune: 17 damage! GMRune: Par hurls a shard of ice at wraith #2! GMRune: Wraith is aligned with ice! 1 damage! GMRune: Tarrant casts Vine Whip at wraith#2! GMRune: 54 damage! GMRune: Wraith #2 is history! GMRune: -------round 2--------- GMRune: Ayeye attacks wraith #4! GMRune: attack 1: 1 damage GMRune: attack 2: 1 damage GMRune: Earendil calls down a bolt of lightning on wraith #4! GMRune: Wraith is weak against thunder. 46 damage! GMRune: It bites the dust! Earendil: Only one left! GMRune: Geint attacks the remaining wraith! GMRune: attack 1: 41 damage GMRune: attack 2: 43 damage GMRune: The wraith falls! GMRune: -----victory------- GMRune: The party gains 99 XP, 45 MEXP, and 80 S. GMRune: The wraiths melt away at their defeat. Valina: Well, I'm glad that's over with. GMRune: Garreth is still lying where you left him at the base of the staircase. Rein sits back satisfies after getting rid of the undead beings. Ayeye: Let's get out of here, before something else gets in our way. Earendil: Okay, we leave. Now! Valina: I could use some healing before we go. Par: Who's gonna carry Garreth? Arzel: Carry? Arzel: I think we can wake him up. Rein: Gather round, everyone. Rein prepares a heal aura. Valina: I say we drag him! GMRune: Rein casts Heal Aura! Rein does his glowy light thing GMRune: Ayeye gains 21 hp! Geint gains 26 hp! Earendil gains 26 hp! Valina gains 26 hp! Arzel gains 9 hp! Valina: Thanks! Arzel: I'll wake up Garreth. GMRune: Garreth looks all smoked out right now. Chances are if you drag him he wouldn't notice a thing. Earendil: Just drag him so we can get out of here. Par: Whatever. But we shouldn't leave him. Arzel: Who wants to drag him? Valina picks up Garreth's feet! Valina: Like this! Ayeye leaves the castle. Valina drags to the best of her ablity! GMRune: The party can either go down the hall of the second floor or down the stairs to the first level. Arzel: Okay Val, you drag him. Valina: Where is Kaden when you need him! Earendil takes one of Garreth's legs from Valina and helps her Valina: Thanks. Ayeye goes down the hall. Rein: We'd better check everywhere in case the staff is around here somewhere. GMRune: The party follows Ayeye, dragging Garreth with them. GMRune: You see many doors to either side of the wide passage. GMRune: There are at least a dozen on each side. Valina: Let..s.. ju..st.. ge.t .. outt..a. her..e Geint: I don't remember this.... Rein: Better start checking 'em. Earendil: Why are there always doors all over, why not just one door? Geint: Let's start from the left. =b Par opens the first door on the left. Valina: What... and make it EASY for us, Ear! Where are you gettin that idea! GMRune: You see a large room with several beds spread around the perimeter. There is nothing else in there. Arzel: Why don't a few of you check the rooms, while a few stay out here and gaurd Garreth? Ayeye: There are too many doors. What if there are more ghosts. I wish Kadan were here, he would know what to do. Ayeye opens the next door. GMRune: Ayeye finds a room just like Par's. They appear to be communal bedrooms. Geint: Let's use wind magic and open them all! =D Ayeye sighs and tries the next door. GMRune: Ayeye finds another bedroom. This one has a large dresser in it though. Ayeye checks the dresser. GMRune: Ayeye finds an ivory comb in the dresser. Valina: Ohhh how pretty... Ayeye tries the next door, "Maybe we should just trust Garreth." GMRune: Ayeye finds another bedroom. This one without a dresser. Valina makes sure the ivory comb is in the party's bag of tricks before she leaves. Ayeye opens the next door. GMRune: Valina acquires Wind Comb. GMRune: Ayeye finds another bedroom. There are signs of something having lived here recently as there is a matress on one of the beds. Ayeye: I think I found Garreth's room. Ayeye searches it completly. GMRune: Ayeye finds a backpack at the foot of the bed. Valina looks at Garreth "Hey you clutz! Did you make this mess?" Ayeye looks in the backpack. Ayeye takes a gold ring out of the backpack. GMRune: The ring glints brightly. Ayeye picks up the backpack. Par: Shall we be going now? Ayeye: This seems to be getting us nowhere. Do any of you want to look more? Geint: Where would we go? Don't we still need to find the exit? Valina: Let's go! I don't want to have to drag this clutz farther than I have to! Par: It's back downstairs. We just need to go own another level. Ayeye: Good, this place depresses me. Valina: good! Earendil picks up Garreth's legs again and drags him along GMRune: The party drags Garreth back to the staircase and they head down to the first level. GMRune: You are once again in the room where Kadan's past came to life. But nothing happens this time around. Ayeye hurries out. GMRune: Garreth's head bumps several times as you go down the stairs. Earendil: He'll wake up with a nasty head ache hehe. Arzel: He'll wake up with brain-damage! GMRune: You drag Garreth back in the gargantuan hall in which you first entered. Geint: Didn't he already have that? Arzel: He fell down a flight of stairs, and is dragged down another. Arzel: Well, even more Geint. GMRune: Once again the high vaulted ceiling rises indefinately above you, and there are many doors to either side. GMRune: You continue along down the hall, but then something strikes you... GMRune: The hall ends in a dead end. A seamless wall rises before you from where you have entered. There is no sign of the door that once was. GMRune: ------end session------
