Kadan attempts to brace himself so as not to sprain any needed appendages. Geint: WHAT HAPPENED?!?!!?!?!?!?!? Earendil tries to yell out, but his mouth is covered with dirt. GMRune: The debris creates a choking cloud of dust in your midsts. Kadan coughs and covers his mouth with one arm. GMRune: And above you, you hear Par shouting to see if you're all right. Geint: OooOof *rock crashing into geint* GMRune: The debris runs from a foot to two feet thick, and with some effort, you can push yourselves out. Earendil: mummphf pufth Geint: *cough* *cough* No I'm not alright!!! Kadan wipes some dirt from his eyes and looks up. "...Par?" Kadan offers to unearth Geint. Par: You guys all right? Par: Ahhhh! Earendil: I'm fine, I think, but what the hell happened? Kadan pats himself all over. "I believe so... No big scrapes." Geint: *ERMPH* can someone help me here?!? I'm not as tall as the rest of you. GMRune: A large froglike creature flies over the dish- shaped dent in the ground resulting from the collapse. It croaks, looking down at your struggling figures. GMRune: You see no sign of Par. GMRune: The collapse has formed a crumbling ramp for you to climb up and out of the hole with. Earendil: Do you think its going to attack us? Geint: WTF?!?! Par...are you like some kinda frog prince?? Oh. That isn't Par. Par shouts wordlessly in pain and you see another leaper perch near you. This one's mouth is holding a chunk of Par's sleeve. Par: Guys! Get up here before...! Geint: AHH!! HE ATE HIM!! GMRune: Water blasts above you, and splashes down into the hole. Kadan eyes the creatures with an amused curiosity. "Where are they coming from?" Par: HELP! Earendil mumbles, "Oh grand." before the water hits him. Geint: AGGGBBRRRRRR!! Ayeye shakes off the confusion from being hit by a lot of rock and then water. "What's going on?" GMRune: You hear the sound of two male voices (not Par's) cursing up above you. One of them yells at the leapers to get down there and attack you! Kadan shakes his head and tries to concentrate. Geint: WHO'S UP THERE!?!?!? Earendil: We got to get up there to help Par. Geint: Yea!! *swim* *swim* GMRune: The leapers look down at you, waiting. Geint gets somewhere where she can shake herself dry and then tries to fly up and see what's up. Earendil: Looks like we have to go through them. Ready guys? Ayeye pushes her wet hair out of her eyes. "Can someone give me a lift?" GMRune: Arzel, Tarrant, and Valina are stuck in the muddy debris and will not be able to fight. Kadan hefts up Ayeye. ~Rein scrambles up the muddy ramp. Ayeye jumps up to the leapers and tries to push them down. Geint: ?!?!?!!? GMRune: The leapers hop back at her approach. Kadan runs up the ramp. Geint: huh?!? Par--Wha--*dshouting down* Coming up?? Par's in deep! Earendil goes up the ramp GMRune: Now that you're up above ground once more, you see that Par is busily fighting with two warlocks! GMRune: ----round 1--------- GMRune: target: 2 leapers front row, 2 warlock trainees back row Kadan hopes trainees aren't much harder than flunkees. GMRune: Kadan casts Tactic! He looks incredibly efficient! :) GMRune: Ayeye attacks leaper #2! GMRune: attack 1: *critical* 10 damage GMRune: attack 2: 3 damage Kadan summons the Ayeye cheerleading squad. GMRune: Kadan moves the back row, equips his silver bow, and shoots at the first warlock trainee! GMRune: attack 1: 42 damage GMRune: attack 2: 36 damage GMRune: The trainee falls! Earendil: Hmmpf, nice shooting. GMRune: Geint attacks leaper #1! GMRune: attack 1: 37 damage Kadan kicks out the Ayeye cheerleaders and summons the Kadan cheerleaders! GMRune: attack 2: 39 damage Ayeye is so happy about wounding something, she doesn't notice Kadan's success. GMRune: Leaper #1 attacks Earendil! GMRune: 8 damage! GMRune: Leaper #2 attacks Ayeye! GMRune: It misses by a long shot! Geint: He isn't nearly as efficient as us!!! GMRune: The remaining warlock trainee glowers, muttering beneath his breath. He points at the back row and casts Water Wave! Kadan puts up a shower curtain. Earendil: So much for Kadan's efficeincy. GMRune: Kadan is hit for 26 damage! Rein is hit for 11 damage! Par is hit for 1 Damage! GMRune: Earendil concentrates and then points trainee #2! GMRune: Trainee #2 is muted! GMRune: Rein casts Heal Litany on Geint! Earendil: Lets see how this trainee attackes without magic! GMRune: Geint heals 23 hp. GMRune: Par hurls a shard of ice at trainee #2! GMRune: 50 damage! GMRune: ------round 2--- GMRune: The trainee glares banefully at Earendil and mutely shakes his fist at him. GMRune: Ayeye attacks leaper #2! GMRune: attack 1: 5 damage! Earendil smirks at the leaper. GMRune: 30 damage! GMRune: The leaper croaks, both literally and figuratively. GMRune: ------victory!------ Kadan boogies down. GMRune: The party gains 50 XP, 79 MEXP, and 50 S Par sighs. "Thanks for coming, guys. I thought I was a goner for a moment." Par: These guys surprised me, and I tried warning you before they collapsed the hole on you. Earendil: It seems that we don't have to fear warlock trainees any more. Kadan: Par, you shouldn't get so nervous over a few froggies. Par: But I guess my warning came a little late. Par smirks. "I suppose not. I was worried about when the warlocks tried collapsing the hole on you." Kadan smirks. "Awww... you care." Par laughes lightly. "Yes, I do. But maybe we should at least dig out the others. It looks like they'll be unconscious for a while. But we don't want them to suffocate." Ayeye: Do the warlocks know we're coming? Par: I don't think so. I think these two were just on patrol when I happened to scout out the area. ~Rein starts digging breathing holes for the others. Ayeye: Won't somebody get worried when they don't return? Kadan: They seemed like the Terna type. Fragile and weak. Kadan cracks his knuckles. "Ayeye, we'll give them other things to worry about." Earendil: The Empire is rarely concerned with its trainees. Par frowns. "I hope not. We'd better hurry. It's not like we're taking our time anyway. Just hide the bodies." Earendil starts hauling the others out of the earth pile. Ayeye checks to make sure The Bush is alright. The bush pants merrily and shakes the bits of dirt off of it. GMRune: It rustles as the clods fly and then goes back to panting. Geint glares the bush. Geint: Does that thing have asthma? Ayeye smiles and begins to wipe the dirt off herself. Earendil pulls out Tarrant, the last of them, and brushes the dirt off himself. Ayeye: No, it thinks that it's a dog. The bush ignores Geint, instead bouncing up and down in Ayeye's backpack. Par looks at the hole. "Well, I guess there's no covering that thing up." Earendil shuffles over to Rein, "Do you have a healing spell in your sack for me?" ~Rein: Yes, I think I have a little magic left. Ayeye: Well then, we better hurry before someone notices it. GMRune: Rein prays and Earendil gains 25 hp. Earendil: Thank you. ~Rein: You're welcome. Par: Yes. Kadan fidgets anxiously. "Are we finished here?" Par motions to the large manor only dozens of yards away. "Well, that's our target." Par: I think my magic is strong enough to let us enter without notice. Earendil: Par, some sort of illusion? Geint: No, Par is really there. Earendil: Very funny Geint. Par shakes his head. "No. What I mean is, I can bypass the magic wards placed about the doors and windows so we can open one of them without hurting ourselves or alerting anyone. Kadan grumbles. "I suppose having a traitorous warlock along has its advantages." Par smiles lightly at Kadan's remark. The bush hops out of Ayeye's backpack and begins trundling along towards the manor, panting as it goes. Par looks curiously at it. Earendil: The bush certainly is enthusiastic. Ayeye looks at the bush, "It seems to know where it's going." The bush looks back to Earendil, yips, and then continues on its way. Ayeye shrugs and follows the bush. Geint: I wonder how that bush would taste with some salad dressing and tomatoes.... Kadan frowns at Geint. "That bush belongs to Ayeye!" Ayeye: I hear air bunny feet are really lucky. The bush growls like a small dog for a moment as it shakes itself and then it keep on going. Geint: Yea... if only we could find some!!! >=) Earendil: Let's just head into the manor. GMRune: The party follows the ambling ambush up to the door of the seaside manor. The salty breeze feel heavy in your lungs. And the cries of gulls fill the air. You can hear the waves not far off; likely only of the other side of the stone walls of the courtyard. The bush plants itself in one place and sits still, panting and looking at the door expectantly. Ayeye approaches the door, "Par, is it warded?" Par utters a few spidery words as he points his cane at the door. The knob of his cane glows brightly for a moment. Par nods. "Yes, I'm afraid it is. But I can lower the wards long enough for us to enter if you want me to." Ayeye looks to the bush and back to Par, "Yes, lower the wards." Kadan seems very wary of the door. Par casts a spell, and the door glows a brilliant red. The color changes into a stunning silver and then fades away. GMRune: The door unlocks and slowly swings open, revealing a wood paneled entryway. Earendil: Par, you haven't delved into thievery with that trick of yours have you? Par: Why no! Ayeye walks through the door. Kadan still seems pretty apprehensive. Par: It's just for lowering wards! Kadan: The doorway was covered with invisible magic, and now it's covered with visible magic! The bush trundles in with the rest of the party. Par pushes the door shut with his cane as the last of you pass through. GMRune: You find yourselves in a neatly arrangement hallways. Doors open to either side of you and an oaken stairway rises to one side of the entryway. Kadan whispers. "We're not going upstairs until we scout the ground floor. We can't afford to get trapped up there." Earendil: Accountants are always so neat. Ayeye turns to the bush, "Do you know where to go?" Par: *whispering* Unlike the time we visited House Banshee, THESE warlocks are home. So be careful! The bush looks up at Ayeye, and then back down to the floor. It trundles through the right doorway. Ayeye follows the bush. Par follows Ayeye and the bush after a moment's hesitation. Earendil: *whispering* Geint, you coming? Geint flies in. ;) Geint: Sorry. I was just thinking. GMRune: The party enters what appears to be a larging dining hall. But judgeing from the current lack of a tablecloth, it might serve as a conference room as well. Cabinets line the walls on either side of you. GMRune: Otherwise this room appears to be empty. Earendil: Shall we check the cabinets? Par: Sure. Earendil strides over to the first cabinet and pulls it open to find . . . GMRune: The group of you begin digging (quietly) through the cabinets. GMRune: Earendil finds a stack of china and neatly arrange bundles of silverware. Earendil quietly puts the silverware into his pack. GMRune: Earendil acquires 12 sets of silverware. Earendil: *whispering to Kadan* this could get me a new set of armor if I'm lucky The bush look up at the party and whuffles. It gnaws on the side of one of the cabinets. Kadan peeks under the table. Ayeye opens the cabinet the bush is at. Kadan gasps silently, then waves his arms to hush the party and get their attention at the same time. Kadan points under the table anxiously. GMRune: Ayeye finds several large cloth napkins. Earendil kneels down to look under the table GMRune: The bush rustles and trundles over near Kadan. Ayeye turns to Kadan and whispers, "What is it?" GMRune: You see a guard smeg snoozing under the table. GMRune: It's chained to the table leg by its collar. Geint flies to Earendil's shoulder and nervously whispers, "What are we gonna do?" Ayeye backs up toward the nearest doorway. Earendil: Geint, can you make it sleep deeper with a spell? The bush rustles and follows Ayeye. Geint: *Maybe!* GMRune: Geint casts Herbal Breeze! The smeg rolls over and stays asleep. Par: Well, that's taken care of... Earendil gets up and notices several stacks of paper on the table. Earendil: Oh, these are just several accounting forms and logistics tables. The bush growls at the smeg and trundles over to the table. It bites the table leg and then yelps. It rolls off in a new direction. The bush creeps up to a door and then sits in front of it as it looks back to Ayeye. Ayeye opens the door. Kadan looks over his shoulders nervously. GMRune: Ayeye opens up the door to... the kitchen! The bush trundles and through and proceeds to raid the larder, much to the surprise (and later disgust) of the cook working in there! Ayeye looks at the cook and waves, "Hi!" Cook: What in Althena's name?! The cook looks from the bush to the party and gasps. Ayeye: It was hungry, so I thought I would get it something to eat. GMRune: Geint casts Herbal Breeze! Geint: Nighty night! GMRune: The cook falls asleep! Earendil: Good work Geint. The bush munches happily in the larder. Kadan searches for some mystery meat. Geint: Didn't want him to wake anyone. =b Ayeye checks to see what the cook was cooking. GMRune: Kadan finds three slabs of meat that are on shelves too high for the bush to reach. But they just appear to be chunks of sirloin. Kadan: Hmm... this meat doesn't have enough mystery for me. GMRune: Ayeye sees the cook appears to have been making roast rabbit with a hearty vegetable soup. Par: Um... not enough mystery? Are you feeling okay, Kadan? Kadan: Yeah, I just had particular tastes when it comes to steak. Earendil: We don't have time for a meal, let's get on with the search. The bush comes back out of the larder, looking like an utter mess. Sauce has been spilled on it, and it's leaving a trail of some sort of white powder behind it as it walks. The bush pants happily, and even those of you not near it can guess how badly its breath reeks. Geint: What happened to the bush? Ayeye looks for a sink to clean the bush in. Par: I think it knocked over too many thing while eating. GMRune: Ayeye finds a bucket of clean water near the stew pot. Kadan: Ayeye, how often do you feed that thing? Ayeye picks up the bush and cleans it up. The bush pants with a happy expression as Ayeye washes it off. Par looks around nervously, and keeps watch near the door. Ayeye carries the now clean bush to the next door. GMRune: The party exits the kitchen and passes back through the dining hall. GMRune: There is now only the doorway to the left and the staircase up. Ayeye: It tends to feed itself. Par: Which way now? Ayeye: Now we go left. Kadan nods in agreement. GMRune: The party heads left and finds a large office room. There are several desks spread around the rectangular chamber, which shelves abound on each of them. Papers are stacks neatly on many of them. While others lay scattered beneath the many inkwells on the desks. GMRune: Two of the desks are occupied, and the robed figures at them are scribbling away madly. Kadan looks over his shoulders, then messes up the order of one of the paper stacks. GMRune: They don't appear to have heard your entrance over the fevered scratching of their quills. GMRune: One of them stirs at Kadan's action and turns his head. GMRune: Geint casts Herbal Breeze! GMRune: The warlock that didn't notice you falls asleep. Ayeye: Hi! What are you doing? Warlock: What the?! How the heck did you get in here?! Kadan: ... ... ... Cleaning crew...? Ayeye: The door wasn't locked, I just turned the door knob. We can come back later if you would like. Warlock: And smegs fly! Earendil: Accounting Investigators, we have reason to believe that there are embezllers here. Ayeye smiles. "They're working on that." The warlock pulls out his cane and points at the door in which you came through. "Move it! Get back in the entryway!" Geint makes a pouty face at the warlock and tries to cute him out. The warlock waves his cane at you. "Don't just stand there! Move it!" Kadan clears his throat. "Sorry, sir. We... umm... have a minor discrepancy to discuss concerning a deed conflict of a three-acre plot between Magus and Banshee territories... Earendil says, "Oh look this account is off balance." and then proceeds to throw a stack of papers at the warlock. Warlock: Hey! Don't mess that stuff up! The warlock puffs up, looking more agitated with every passing second you spend in front of him. Kadan tapes a paper over each of the warlock's eyes, then throws a tape dispenser up in the air and whacks it with his axe to ka-choink the warlock in the forehead! Warlock: That's it! If you won't leave, I'll just have to blow you out! GMRune: ------round 1------ GMRune: targer: Warlock Flunky Ayeye frowns, "But I don't want to leave." GMRune: Ayeye attacks the warlock! GMRune: attack 1: 4 damage GMRune: attack 2: 3 damage Earendil smiles, "I want to stay and learn how to balance ledgers and do specialized journal entries." Kadan: Ayeye! Put some elbow grease into it! GMRune: Kadan swings his axe gleefully at the warlock flunky! Ayeye: I did, look, I actually made him bleed! GMRune: attack 1: 41 damage Kadan: Yeah, well watch entrails fly when I do it! GMRune: attack 2: 39 damage Par turns a slight shade of green. Ayeye ducks the flying entrails. Warlock: Shut up, you pathetic commoner twits! What do you know of the true glory of accounting! GMRune: Geint attacks! Earendil holds a tax form in front of the flunky's face and tears it in two. GMRune: attack 1: 38 damage GMRune: attack 2: 35 damage GMRune: The warlock glowers at Earendil and begins casting his spell! Rushing Breeze! The front row is hit. GMRune: Ayeye is hit for 16 damage! Kadan is hit for 43 damage and is knocked out! Geint is hit for 28 damage! Earendil is hit for 30 damage! Kadan wonders if these spellcasting enemies must seek him out... Ayeye: Is that the best you can do? Geint: K--Kadan's keeled over from a breeze!! Ayeye uses the magic known as calculus to prove 0=1, and all of the accountant's work is therefore wrong. Kadan: Hey! It's a fierce, stiff, blasting gale of hyper-pressurized wind! Earendil: Alright flunky, time for us to close your accounts Par looks at Kadan, wondering how a knocked out person can talk. GMRune: Earendil attacks the warlock! Kadan speaks from a blue shimmering form like Obiwan. GMRune: 34 damage! GMRune: Rein messes up the papers on the desk to further piss off the warlock. GMRune: Par's form blurs as he strikes the warlock with his cane! GMRune: 34 damage! GMRune: The warlock flunky falls! GMRune: ------victory------ Earendil accidentally knocks the ink bottle spilling ink all over the flunky's work. Kadan cheers in his sleep. Geint: Yahoo! GMRune: The party earns 20 XP, 23 MEXP, and 50 S. GMRune: Kadan wakes up with 1 hp. Kadan cheers for his 1 hp! Par looks down at Kadan. "Are you all right?" Kadan gives Par a wavering thumbs up. Kadan: Did I make it dead? Par: It? The warlock? Well, yes, he's dead. Par digs around in his robes and uses an herb on himself. GMRune: Par gains 20 hp. Earendil holds up a sheet of paper, "Hey guys, look at this." The bush looks up hopefully at the paper. Earendil: It has nothing to do with the Serpant Staff, but it does have something about the requisition for supplies for a small army heading for Caldor Isle, I wonder what that could be about? Par: I'm not really familiar with the area. But House Erde and a couple villages are pretty much the only things out there. The bush hops up, trying to snap up the piece of paper. Earendil: Hey, leave it alone. The bush whines and sits down. Ayeye: Did you hear that? Par: Hear what? Kadan tries to listen. Ayeye walks toward the stairs. "It sounded like a bell." The bush pants and scampers after Ayeye. Ayeye listens intently, and then slowly moves up the stairs. Earendil: Can't be dinner time, the cook is fast asleep. Kadan: Ayeye, are you sure you hear something? Ayeye looks perplexed, but continues up the stairs. "Yes, I'm sure." ~Rein shrugs and follows Ayeye up the stairs. Kadan sticks close to Ayeye. Ayeye reaches the top of the stairs and looks around. GMRune: The party reaches the second floor, which appears to simply be a long hallway spreading to either side of the staircase. Ayeye: I know it's here somewhere. Ayeye heads to her right. Ayeye continues down the hall. "Don't you hear it yet?" The bush follows Ayeye quietly, no longer panting. Par walks not far behind Ayeye. "No. I still can't hear what you're talking about." Geint: Oh no. Don't tell me you're hearing voices now... Ayeye frowns. "I'm not crazy. I can hear something and it's coming from this way." GMRune: Ayeye leads you all to a gold-rimmed door. Ayeye points to a gold-rimmed door. "Par, take down the wards on this door." Par: Um... sure... Kadan: Who here knows where we're going? Earendil: I certainly don't. GMRune: Par casts his spell and the door swings open, revealing a meticulously arranged study. Ayeye: We are going to the source of the sound. Ayeye walks in and frowns. "It stopped." Ayeye searches the room. Earendil: This must be the study of the leader of Terna. GMRune: Inside you see a large marble desk, a bookcase, and a small file cabinet with a bracer and a stack of papers on it. GMRune: There is a warlock in a chair before the table, but he doesn't even move as your entrance. Indeed, he doesn't move at all. Ayeye goes over to the file cabinet and looks through the papers. Ayeye tosses papers out of the way and continues her search. GMRune: Geint Herbal Breezes the warlock at the desk. But he makes no movement. Earendil: Is he dead? Geint: Hmm... thought I'd be safe but I see no reason... Par pushes the warlock, and the man falls out of his chair and collapses stiffly on the floor. Par: Yup. I think he's dead. Earendil: Yep, he's dead. Geint: ....but.....how? Voice: MY handiwork. Geint: !! Ayeye looks up, "Who is dead?" Earendil: Who's there? GMRune: A shadow fades into view before you. It is of a familiar cloaked figure. Kadan stands in alarm. Shea: I hope you appreciate it. Shea: I've killed most of the warlocks here already. It's been the least I could do after leaving you in the keep with all the ratmen and their leader. Ayeye goes backing to searching the file cabinet. Kadan recognizes the figure. "Yes... you seemed to leave quite hastily." Shea narrows her eyes. "Yes, I have a LOT to matters to attend to." Earendil: Yes, you seem to pop up just at the right times. Shea: Anyway, I have done my work here. I have dealt the warlocks a sizable blow thanks to the sword from the wererat. I consider my little "debt" to you paid. And now I'll take me leave of you. Shea nods to you and reaches for the bracer on the file cabinet. Ayeye: Wait! Did you hear the sound? Ayeye quickly grabs the bracer. Shea: Sound? What sound? Ayeye: Kind of a bell, or ringing. Shea drops her hand back down at her side. Shea: Hmph. I heard no such thing. Now if you'll kindly give me that bracer. I could use it. Ayeye looks at the bracer, "Why do you want it? Are you collecting some set of special equipment?" Shea: I collect any sort of armor and weapons that will enable me kill or hinder the warlocks. Shea: This bracer happens to be one of them. Ayeye: Why do you need it more than us? You can do this much without it. Shea glares at Ayeye. "I can accomplish a great deal more if I have it rather than you." Earendil: I would have to agree with Ayeye, if you have enough power to kill an entire house of warlocks, you can do without one small bracer. Kadan tries to avoid Shea's Stare of Death. Ayeye: On the other hand, maybe we can accomplish a great deal if we have it rather than you. Geint looks deeply at Shea. "..you....wha..." Ayeye: What makes these bracers so special? Kadan: I don't see why we're fighting over this. We don't need it, and Shea here more than earned it. Shea: I have only taken care of *most* of the warlocks in *this* particular manor. The rest WILL find us if we bicker too long about this. And unlike you, I *know* what this bracer is! Shea extends her hand towards Ayeye. "As your friend says, I have earned it. Now let me have it and I'll be off." Ayeye: Well, I can learn. I still haven't found the sound. What if it came from this? Maybe this is more important than even you know. Geint has an odd look on her face as she looks at Shea. Shea sends a withering look at Geint before turning her attention back to Ayeye. Earendil: Geint, what is it? Geint: ....what is blocking...... Shea lunges at Ayeye, trying to grab the bracer from her! Ayeye: Kadan, last time Shea attempted to steal something, we had to take the punishment. I don't believe she killed the warlocks to help us. Kadan feels some gears in his head turning. "Shea... why do you insist on risking your life in this fight all by yourself?" Ayeye tries to avoid her. Shea: Because....! Kadan: Ayeye, we'd be fools not to take advantage of our mutual goal here. Shea grasps the bracer! GMRune: A purple light suddenly flashes as Shea touches the bracer. She screams loudly as a hissing sound erupts into the air. The light explodes. When it clears, Shea is nowhere to be seen. Geint: Ah well, it's nothing. Must just be that Shea's a weird person.... I don't know WHAt I sence.......but something's blocking whatever it is.. Geint: ???? Earendil: Seems that the bracer was not meant for her. Ayeye drops the bracer. "What the..." Geint: ACK!! That settles it. It was more than a wierdo feeling. Kadan: I hope she's not... hurt...? The bush rustles in agreement. Ayeye carefully picks up the bracer. "Maybe it was the source..." Geint: It seemed like something foreign was stopping me from finding more out... but what I DID sense was odd and almost....... Ayeye smiles. "Can you hear it. It is the bracer." Geint: familiar.... Par shakes his head. Ayeye: I'm not crazy. It's obviously important if Shea wanted it. Par: I realize that, Ayeye. But I don't hear it. Earendil: I don't think she'll try to take it again if she is still alive. Geint: We sound like a bunch of freaks!! One hears whistles and the other points out that Shea's weird. DUH. Ayeye: Shea is weird. Kadan tries to keep away from the bracer. Geint: My point! It's obvious! Ayeye turns back to the files. Earendil: And I think that you should keep that bracer hidden. Do not use it. We don't know what the extant of its powers are. Kadan: If it's causing Ayeye some annoyance, I say we destroy it. Ayeye: What we came for should be here. Ayeye: Kadan, we cannot. Shea wanted it for something. She implied that it had the power to defeat the warlocks. Ayeye: Ahh, these look important. Ayeye reads the papers. Ayeye: It looks like we will be going south. The staff has been stolen by some mages and taken down there. Earendil: Does it specify where in the south? Ayeye: Well, it talks about House Nissa and House Protectoriate. Wait, here it is, fifteen miles south of here. Ayeye looks curiously at the bracer. Ayeye: Do these things have off switches? GMRune: The bracer seems to be made of some black material and has a coiled serpent carved in relief on it. Earendil: Nissa . . . Kadan glares at the bracer with contempt. Par: No. It's not a warlock bracer. It's missing the dagger element of the design. Earendil: Then what could it be? Par shrugs. "I'm not entirely certain. Ayeye, you could touch it when Shea couldn't. Can I try holding it?" Ayeye: Sure, could it be an Urdian relic? Par shrugs again, and takes the bracer from Ayeye. He yelps and drops it a split second later. GMRune: The bracer clatters on to the floor. Ayeye: At least you didn't explode. Anyone else want to try? Par: Ouch! The damn thing shocked me! Earendil: Let me. Ayeye: It shocked you? Like the pendents do? Earendil picks up the bracer. Par nurses his hand. "I don't know. I've never touched one of the pendants. Earendil throws the bracer down. "S***, it shocked me too." Ayeye looks down at the bracer. "Where's Arzel when you need him." Kadan stands clear of the accursed thing. Earendil: Ayeye, there must be something about you that allows you to hold it. Do you have any ideas? GMRune: The bush trundles over to the bracer and sniffs at it. Ayeye: No, but it seems to talk to me, sorta... Ayeye picks it up and turns it over in her hands. Ayeye: Maybe I should try it on. Par nods. Ayeye carefully puts on the bracer. GMRune: Ayeye begins to glow with a soft white light. Earendil: ? GMRune: When Ayeye speaks, her voice is hollow and echoes throughout the small room. Ayeye: Long ago, as the eons passed and life moved from the Blue Star to Lunar, there were four guardian tribes chosen to watch over Lunar. Kadan blinks at Ayeye. Ayeye: There were Althena's chosen, the Dragon Tribe, who were given dominion over the elements and the mana of the world. Then came the Pegasus Tribe, who watched over Althena's creations and nurtured their life. Third were the Shadowcat Tribe, whose powers over the realm of time and shadow kept the history of the world alive. And lastly came the Phoenix Tribe, whose eternal life provided hope and courage to the citizens of Lunar. Ayeye: These four exist, and through their power were we defeated. But the day that one of them should fall, we shall return. We impart this message to you, our brethen, so that you may succeed where we have failed. Kadan blinks. "You're talking funny talk." Ayeye: What do you mean? GMRune: The glow fades from Ayeye as she finishes speaking. Ayeye: Why are you all looking at me like that? Earendil: Who are "we"? Ayeye: You're the Dragonmaster, Kadan's a magic hunter, Geint's an Air B-er dragon. GMRune: -------end session-------
