Valina: Wow! Kadan tries to avoid eye contact with the thing. Arzel looks at Valina GMRune: The lavender gem continues to glow softly as Valina holds it. Rein feels his hand gingerly. Valina: This is... amazing! Valina: I sorta feel, connected to it. Arzel wishes he could get rid of his pendant. Valina: Now I have to find my pendant. GMRune: The light gently fades after a few moments, and the gem then seems inert. Par: Well, we have one and a half pendants now and one pendant bearer. It's progress. Valina slips the gem in her pouch. Par: I suppose we'd better get going. Valina: Yes... I wonder if Shea is still down there. Par: Do you guys want to check out the rest of this keep? Or should we just leave? Valina: Let's just go. Par nods. Kadan: Wait... Kadan looks around suspiciously. Par looks at Kadan. Kadan: I heard an ethereal voice during our battle with the wererat that there may be a Silver Axe hidden in this place. Valina: I feel that there are too many traps here, it is not worth dying yet. Kadan: I never want to be put in such a helpless condition again. I suggest we unearth whatever relics this place has. It shouldn't be too difficult. Rein: You're following the bidding of an ethereal voice, Kadan? Rein: Are you feeling well? Par: Kadan, I thought you hated magic. Kadan: Silver is not magic. It is the virtue of raw material of the earth. That I can respect. Par shrugs. "I'm open to any ideas. If you want to search, that's fine with me." Valina: I would like to find Shea, and see what she was doing here. Kadan rushes out of the wererat's chamber and scouts for unopened doors. Par blinks and chases after Kadan! "Hey! Wait up!" Ayeye follows Kadan. GMRune: Kadan, Par, and Ayeye have left the room. Valina follows. Valina: Oh... great! Kadan: Ayeye, I forget. Which halls did we scope out? Arzel follows Kadan Ayeye: That one, that one, and that one. Ayeye: Or was it that one? Ayeye goes down the middle hall. Valina: Come on, Rein! We better make sure they don't get into TOO much trouble! Rein is jerked back from his thoughts, and trots after the party. Kadan puts his ear up against the nearest unopened door. GMRune: The second short hall on the right ends in a door. Ayeye: Kadan, just open it. Kadan shrugs and shoves the door open. GMRune: You all enter what seems to be a storage room of some kind. Decayed sacks of some sort of powder lie scattered on the ground and on a dusty wooden shelf. A strange iron lever is barely visible next to the cabinet. Valina: Hmm.... I don't like this. Rein sticks his finger in the powder. Arzel looks around. Rein examines the tip of his finger. Valina: What do you make of it Rein? Kadan gently touches the lever. "Suppose it's some sort of mechanism?" Valina looks. GMRune: The powder is grimy and a light grayish color. Rein: Hmm... I don't know.... Ayeye: That wereRat really needed a maid. Kadan shrugs and pulls down on the lever. Rein: Oh, that reminds me, did we ever check the kitchen that the tar monster came out of? Ayeye: Yeah, and we found a tar monster, remember. GMRune: The lever swings down with an audible click and the party hears a sort of low grinding sound for a couple of moments. Then all is still. Rein: I know, but after that.... Ayeye wipes off some evil pudding remnents. Rein: I don't think we searched the room.. Ayeye looks towards the click. Geint: I don't remember....I was half asleap! Kadan reaches behind his belt and unclips his axe, just to be safe. Kadan proceeds to search the cabinets. GMRune: They are empty. Rein looks around curiously, trying to ascertain the location of the mechanism. Rein: Well, we should check back there, I think. That thing must have been there for a reason. Ayeye: Kadan, what did you do? Kadan nods. "Perhaps it did not affect this room." Par: I think they just didn't like it so they stuffed it in there. Kadan looks under every conceivable surface, leaving no stone unturned. Rein looks at Par and smiles. "Yeah, you're probably right.. that thing WAS pretty gross." Par grins in return. "No kidding! It even ate your chair!" Rein frowns... "Yeah..." Geint: Hmmm.... I wonder how fast it'd eat Tarrant's cooking if it liked THAT. ;) Rein looks depressed. Kadan saunters out of the room. "Let's try... ... that one!" Rein: Urk! Kadan looks around, wondering where half his companions are. Rein scrambles to catch up with Kadan. Par chases after Kadan. Geint: What's wrong Rein? Ayeye walks at Kadan's side. Rein snaps to attention. "Right here, sir!" Arzel chases after Kadan. Rein looks back at Geint. "Uh.. nothing... just didn't want to get separated." GMRune: Kadan opens the third door to the left. Kadan scopes out the room. "Anyone here?" GMRune: This appears to be a hastily evacuted dining hall. There are signs of some sort of battle, as the dirty lace tablecloth has been freshly rent and torn. Rotted chairs have been overturned, and cabinets smashed. There is another door to the right of where you entered. Kadan peeks under the table. "Anyone see anything?" GMRune: Only the dust mice look back at kadan from under the table. Kadan takes one more gander around the room, then moves into the door on the right. Rein looks around the room for anything out of the ordinary Ayeye: Err, Kadan, maybe your ethereal voice was a hallucination. Rein thinks Kadan is awfully good at sacking houses... hmm... GMRune: This room appears to be the kitchen. A foul odor wafts from the cabinets around you. And a crude stew pot full of rotting meat and vegetation lies on the stove. A ladder is propped up against the northern wall, leading up to a third floor. There is another door to the right of your entrance, presumably leading back into the hallway. Rein has tar-spattered flashbacks. Kadan examines the cookware from afar. Geint: PEEEE YEEEEWWWWW!!!!! Geint: Kadan, did you cut one AGAIN? GMRune: Par: Great... Another messy kitchen! Kadan gives the air bunny a vicious glare. GMRune: The cookware seems crudely made. It probably wasn't part of the original keep's set. Kadan holds his nose as he opens the cupboards. Arzel: Hey, Geint! That's my line! I used that just a little while ago. Rein peeks over the edge of the cook pot GMRune: Kadan finds a moist slab of previously dried meat. GMRune: It's impossible to tell just exactly WHAT the meat was though. Kadan makes the little item-acquiring sound effect and stores the meat in a safe place. Rein: Ewww.. you're keeping that! GMRune: Kadan acquired mystery meat. :) Kadan grabs onto the ladder leading upwards. GMRune: The party climbs up the ladder after Kadan. GMRune: This floor appears to be a lookout perch of some sort. There are arrow slits pointing out in all directions of this large square roof. Decayed stools must have once provided as seats for the men stationed here. Geint flies up. ;) Kadan madly searches the room for arrow traps. Par eyes Kadan carefully... is Kadan feeling okay? Geint: Uuummm... Kadan?? Arzel: .... Arzel: ... Kadan: Can never be too safe, you know. GMRune: Par: Well, there's still that first door in the hallway we trid when the pit trap opened up on us. And there's one last hallway to check. Kadan plunders the room for anything else. "Surely they left a bow or two..." Rein heads back down the ladder, shaking his head. Arzel goes with Rein. GMRune: Kadan finds a rotted old bow and sheaf of arrows. GMRune: It's pretty useless. GMRune: It looks like the rain and mildew has gotten to it. Kadan snaps the thing over his knee and throws it in a corner. Kadan climbs down the ladder. Par: Well, back down the ladder! Par climbs down the ladder. GMRune: The party is once again back in the kitchen. Geint: Oh boy....back to the room of 1,000 stenches... Kadan expediently makes his way to the corridor. Arzel: And Kadan with his newly hydrated piece of dried meat. Rein: 999... Kadan is bringing one of them with us Geint: Hee hee hee! Kadan: Watch your mouth, kid. It can get you in trouble with... less tolerant people. GMRune: Kadan meanders down the first hallway to the right of the main one (although it's now the last on the left due to the fact you're coming from a different direction). Rein looks down. Arzel looks at Kadan. Arzel: Where you talking to me or Rein? GMRune: You all see four doors. Two on the right. Two on the left. Arzel waits for Kadan to answer. Ayeye runs to the first on the left. GMRune: The door to this room appears to be jammed. Ayeye: Left first, right Kadan? Kadan: I was talking to Rein, Arzel. I do not speak to you. Kadan: Step away, kind sirs and ladies. Ayeye tries harder. Kadan backs up and prepares his hefty shoulder for ramming speed. Arzel: Good...because I'm old enough to be your...err...uhhh... brother Ayeye backs away from the door. Kadan: GAHHHHHHHHH! Kadan charges into the door. GMRune: Kadan barrels into the door, breaking it wide open! GMRune: This bedroom is filled with dust and swirls around you at your entrance. This room must have been sealed up for years! The air is stale, and the acrid smell of something long decayed pervades the room. You can see a barely standing old bedframe and a dresser in this room. All the other decaying mounds you are uncertain of. Kadan nonchalantly checks inside the dressers and under the bed. Rein searches around too. Ayeye enters after the splinters have all fallen. GMRune: As Kadan opens the dresser, everyone hears a quick *thock* as a trap is launched at him! Arzel: You know Kadan, your not going to get very far in this word not talking to Wizards and Clerics... Rein's glance jerks towards Kadan... GMRune: Kadan is hit by a hidden dart for 5 points of damage! Ayeye: KADAN! Geint: AAHH!!!!! Kadan yanks out the dart and gives it a very mean glare. Arzel: Kadan, the master of disarming traps...with letting them hit him Ayeye rushes to his side, "Are you o-kay?" Kadan: I think I have an owie. Geint snickers. Earendil: .... ..... Kadan looks at Ayeye almost shamefully. "It's nothing." Rein: Would you let me check that? It might have been poisoned. GMRune: Rein finds the remains of a still moist black liquid on the dart. Kadan clears his throat, and checks his pulse and vision. "I think I feel fine." Rein: I think I've seen this stuff before... it'll sting but shouldn't do more than some localized tissue damage, Kadan. GMRune: Kadan feels okay. Just a minor dizzyness accompanying the initial pain. But that seems to be it. Kadan squeezes the area around the puncture. "Eww... pus!" Arzel whispers to Tarrant "Too bad it's not more serious... ;)" Kadan goes deeper into the dresser. "There better be treasure or something here." Tarrant snickers. GMRune: Kadan finds a silver bow with a set of silver arrows to go with it. Rein kept the dart, BTW. GMRune adds the dart to Rein's inventory. Ayeye: I think your hallu, er voice was wrong, that doesn't look like an axe. Kadan leaps up and down. "This'll work great with my incredibly nifty tactics! Er... unless someone else desperately needs it, not that I'd give it to you anyway. After all, I suffered poison and pain for it!" Kadan: Watch it with that thing, kid. You don't want to stick yourself when reaching in for an apple or something. Arzel shakes his head at Kadan. "I prefer my claws...as if you'd ever give it to me anyway" Rein: I'll.... umm... keep that in mind... Kadan looks at Geint and hallucinates a little target on her butt. Kadan tucks the bow into his backpack, looking over his shoulders suspiciously at his companions. Kadan: This shall suffice. Now I am no longer helpless against the lycanthropes. I have no further need to investigate here. Arzel: (with a hint of sarcasm) So...where to next oh Intelligent and Valiant Leader? Earendil looks at Kadan. "Pack rat." GMRune: The party heads back out into the smaller hallway. Rein marvels at the size of Kadan's bow-carrying backpack. GMRune: Two doors on the right, and one more on the left. Kadan: You just add a drop of water to make it full size, Rein. Rein: Miracles of modern technology! Arzel: That would be magic, Kadan! Ayeye tries to open the second door on the left. Ayeye: Not magic, dee high dray shun, or something like that. Geint lands on Earendil's shoulder. Par: Well, Kadan, it's your call. What should we do next? Earendil: Huh, what's that? Oh it you, Geint. I feel as if I had been in a trance for awhile, couldn't say a word. Arzel plays idlely with a starlight taking care not to set it off. Kadan struts as if he's in command of this group. "I say we make a speedy egress from this wretched place. I don't think there's anything more for us here." Earendil: Egress, wow such a large vocabulary for you, Kadan. Par: Maybe we'll catch up with this Shea Valina wants to talk to. Arzel: Yes Earendil...it amazes me...I've seen no Lumox with such great intelligence. Kadan: She looked as though she was making her way to the exit. Maybe we can catch up with her there. GMRune: The party heads back to the main hallway and towards the stairs leading to the first floor. Arzel puts the Starlight back in his pouch. GMRune: Once you get downstairs though, you notice there appears to be the remains of some sort of scuffle that you don't recall seeing before. Geint notices the bush has been extreamly quiet. "Gee... that thing of yours is actually not seeming as bad, Ayeye." Rein looks around for combatants. The bush rustles indignantly in Geint's direction. Ayeye: The wererat and evil pudding scared it. Earendil: Oh, this looks nice. GMRune: It appears that all combatants survived, though, and the fight went down the length of the hallway and towards the outside. Ayeye looks at the remains of the scuffle. GMRune: You can see torn bits of cloth, a few grooves slashed into the floor, and a couple of acid puddles. Arzel looks at the group. Geint: ooooooohhh.... boy....... Arzel: What a strange buch of people I've gotten myself involved with. Ayeye heads outside after the trail of combat. Rein: What would have made those acid burns? Kadan smirks at the overturned furnishings and tumbled vases. Geint: I don't wanna know! Earendil: Some say ignorance is bliss. Geint nervously clings to Earendil's shoulder. Geint: *shiver* *shiver* Earendil: Uhh, Geint, YOUR CLAWS! Arzel looks around. Geint: Oh... umm.... sorry.... GMRune: The party follows the trail outside and emerge from the keep. Geint loosens her claws but still shivers nervously. GMRune: You see four robed figures staggering up from the ground. Rein: Hmm...? Ayeye assumes a combat stance. Figure: You! You...! Are you aligned with that demon spawn that attacked us?! Rein moves towards the figures. Ayeye: Who are you? Earendil: (whispering) I really hope those aren't what they might be. Ayeye: Demon spawn? Which demon spawn? Rein: Surely not... We walk in Althena's light! GMRune: A second of the figures speaks. "No, I remember this bunch. I saw them when the demon attacked Lord Kargeth in Shelladon! They must be members of the resistance." Geint: Yea!! I'd never follow a demon! I follow way bigger things than that!! Earendil: Uh oh, Lord Kargeth? GMRune: The figures seem to be badly weakened, but turn their attention to the party nonetheless. Ayeye: Err...Kadan, we may need one of your patanted tricks. Rein looks uncertainly to Kadan. Figure: If you have been the ones engineering the attempted assaination against Kargeth, then we have a bone to pick with you. Arzel pops that Starlight he was playing with. GMRune: Arzel gains 20 MP. Figure: Your deaths will earn us a place in the Empire's history! GMRune: -----round 1------- Geint: Oi Vaye! GMRune: targets: 4 warlock trainees Earendil: Oh Joy! Kadan whips out his axe and prepares to do some good old fashioned butt kicking. Ayeye shrugs. "Not again." Rein is stuck in the front, having approached them. GMRune: Ayeye blurs forward and rakes her claws feverishly over trainee 4. GMRune: 1 damage! GMRune: Kadan slashes at trainee 1! GMRune: attack 1: misses GMRune: attack 2: 27 damage GMRune: Valina sings, blowing out the eardrums of trainee #1! GMRune: 20 damage! GMRune: Geint whirls into a dive and rakes her claws through the row of warlocks! Geint: YAAAHAA! GMRune: 34 damage to each! GMRune: Trainee#1 dies! Geint does a little victory dance and retreats to Earendil's shoulder. GMRune: Rein spins his staff in a low thrust at trainee #2. GMRune: 1 damage! GMRune: Trainee #2 casts Wave Water at the front row! GMRune: Ayeye is hit for 12 damage! Geint: Ah frigg..... GMRune: Kadan is hit for 29 damage! GMRune: Valina is hit for 13 damage! Kadan shakes his head, sprinkling water all over the air bunny. GMRune: Geint is hit for 16 damage! GMRune: Rein is hit for 18 damage! Rein almost falls, but supports himself against his staff. GMRune: Earendil is hit for 22 damage! Earendil: blub blub blub GMRune: Trainee #3 casts Herbal Breeze on Valina! GMRune: Valina resists falling asleep. GMRune: Trainee #4 casts Water Wave at the back row! Kadan: Damn pot-porri... Arzel: Damn. GMRune: Arzel is hit for 6 damage! Par is hit for 4 damage! Tarrant is hit for 1 Damage! GMRune: Earendil casts Quiet! GMRune: Trainee #4 finds himself unable to speak! Arzel: Tarrant mister good Magic End Earendil: Shut up you, worm! GMRune: Arzel hurls a bolt of flame at trainee #2! GMRune: 22 damage! GMRune: Par directs a shard of ice at trainee #2! GMRune: 30 damage! GMRune: Trainee#2 falls! Arzel: Die stupid warlocks! GMRune: Tarrant calls down a thunder bolt on trainee#3! Geint: Yea!!! dropping like flies!! GMRune: 44 damage! GMRune: -------round 2------ GMRune: Warlocks 3 & 4 are left GMRune: Ayeye attacks Trainee #4! GMRune: attack 1: 1 damage GMRune: attack 2: 1 damage GMRune: Kadan attacks trainee#3! GMRune: attack 1: 31 damage! GMRune: Kadan hacks the head off of trainee #3! GMRune: He turns his attention to trainee #4! Earendil: At least Lumoxes have some good uses. GMRune: attack 2: 23 damage Arzel: Just point them at the enemy and they cut a path. GMRune: Valina attacks trainee#4! Arzel: Right, Earnedil? Kadan dives into the final enemy with wild abandon. GMRune: 6 damage! Earendil: hehe GMRune: Geint claws away at trainee #4! Geint: BITE ME!! GMRune: attack 1: 20 damage! GMRune: The last of your opponents falls! GMRune: ------victory------- Earendil: Die Die Die Arzel: whoo hoo Kadan does the obligatory disco victory dance. Geint: Yippie!! Those puppets went back to the shop!! GMRune: The party gains 40 XP, 120 MEXP, and 60 S Rein delivers the kick-in-the-crothch that he had been preparing for the last warlock even as he falls Rein: Take that! *** GMRune has set the topic on channel #lunarrpg5 to Outside Ratling Keep - 287 MEXP - 327 S Earendil: I like those numbers Par examines the corpses, pulling back the sleeves of their robes. Par: Hmm... Earendil: What's so interesting, Par? Par: Well, they're not from any of the really important houses. Par: That helps save us from any vengence the house may put out after us. Arzel: Which one? Earendil: At least for a while. Par: Their symbols are red. If memory serves me correctly, that's House Terna. Geint: Oh....so......they were hanging around here because...........??? Par: Terna's been trying to become one of the bigger houses for a long time. I guess these guys thought we could be their ticket up. Rein: Terna? Earendil: What does Terna do? Earendil: Arrogant fools . . . Par: Terna is the secretorial house of the Empire. They get to do a lot of the paperwork. Par: Not a very fun job if you ask me. Geint: I can do paperwork..... just a little shot of flame and.... Par flashes a smile at Geint. Par: We'd better try getting back to our wyburns. They must be going nuts by now. Ayeye: Why go to the wyburns, I thought we needed to get to Gausuton and the pendant? Geint appears deep in thought. Par: I'm not sure if we'll be able to enter Killith. That's what bothers me. Rein groans audibly. Par: No commoners are ever allowed inside! Earendil: Disguises perhaps? Geint looks back up and flies off of Earendil's shoulder but still stays at his side. Par looks at the bodies... Par: Actually, there might be a way... Ayeye: Well, do we know where to look for the third pendant? Ayeye: Really? How? Ayeye follows Par's gaze. Par: The only problem is all of us couldn't go. Arzel: We're going to dress up in corpses' robes? Par: You know that each warlock wears his or her symbol at all times, right? Rein looks at Par quizzicaly. Par: Well, we have four genuine symbols here. Rein nods. Ayeye goes to a body and removes a symbol. Geint: Ha... like I expected to go......Sure. The warlock's AIR BUNNY. I don't even look like an air bunny! Par: Whoever wears them could be taken for a warlock if it's done right. Earendil picks around in his pack for a minute, "This might help" and he pulls out a medallion. Rein looks from member to member... Arzel looks around. Rein: But who would we pick? Par looks at Earendil's medallion. Earendil: Um, this was my mother's medallion, it was the symbol that she wore while she was still part of the empire. Geint: Hmm..... probobly not Kadan... isn't he a little big to fit in one of those uniforms? Ayeye: Valina is out, they know who she is. Arzel: Bring Kadan...he'll pass really well for a warlock without magic... Rein: Par- would they know you? Arzel: I'll go...if everyone wants me to Par: I wouldn't put it past them to be truthful. I don't think I should go. Earendil: Me, I'm not sure. Rein: How about Geint? Earendil: However I really don't feel like going there . . . yet. Geint: I couldn't fit in that costume!! ;) Rein laughs. Par borrows the documents from Valina and starts looking through them. Geint: Where would I wear the symbol? On my neck? Par: I don't think you could be mistaken for a warlock, Geint. :) Rein: Wherever it is you keep everything else, maybe... Rein winks. Rein: Well... let's see... Tarrant and Arzel for sure, I'd guess... GMRune: As the party debates, a sudden explosion rings in the distance. Ayeye: That leaves Arzel, Earendil, Tarrant, and Rein. Geint: Besides.. even though you guys didn't notice how I looked or what I was..... those warlocks study all the time and read all the time... I'm sure at least ONE of them knows a flying feline appearence means a dragon! Earendil: What the H***! GMRune: Another explosion sounds and you can see smoke rising to the southwest. Rein peers in the direction of the explosion. Geint looks at Ear and says "Ditto!!" Arzel looks to the southwest. Arzel: What's going on? could the warlocks be attacking? Earendil: Methinks we should take a look thataway. GMRune: Lightning begins to flare and hail rains down about the area. Geint: What's that?? Where is it coming from?? Par: By Althena...! Geint: EEpers!!! That looks like it kinda sucks! Earendil: Then again, maybe not. Kadan shudders. Arzel: It's the warlocks...they're doing somthing evil...I can feel it! Ayeye looks frantically for cover. Geint: Warlocks doing evil...... Geint: What a change of pace! Arzel: I mean really evil... GMRune: All forms of elemental magic seems to leave their signs in the area to the southwest. Closer examination reveals that they magic seems to be coming from two sides opposite each other. Arzel: It must take a hundred warlocks to do somthing so powerful. Arzel: A warlock war...they're warring with each other! Earendil: Could it be a battle between two warlock houses? Its not unheard of. Rein wants to go watch. Geint: A hundred???? Is that in the direction we have to walk? Par blankly hands the papers back to Valina and heads off towards the battle. Par scampers to the southwest. Ayeye runs toward the battlezone, "Come on, let's see what's happening!" Geint: Par!! PAR! Where are you going?? Arzel looks at Par "Par! where are you going?" Par: I have to see what's going on! Rein is on Par's heels. Arzel: Damn! Arzel runs after Par. Earendil: Let's go, we have to see what's going on, it could be to our advantage. Geint: Oh jeez.......something tells me we're following him.... GMRune: The party clears the distance between the keep and the battle, following Par up a small hill overlooking the prarie below. Kadan remains apprehensive, his breathing almost hyper. GMRune: There are clearly two sides. One appears to obviously be warlocks. The others are dressed in commoners' clothes. The simpler ones appear to be on the losing side. Geint: I don't like this...........I dooon't..I didn't wanna come but we all HAD to see the festivities! GMRune: The defenders are centering themselves around a single figure cloaked in silver. Ayeye dashes to help the commoners. Par: No! Par: We've got to help them! Arzel looks around astonished. Earendil: No, Get your a** back here. Par chases after Ayeye. Arzel: I'm with Par! Arzel follows Par. Rein is right behind Par. Earendil: Damn, here we go again. Geint: WAAAAAHHH!! I knew this'd happen!! Kadan fights between his valiantly righteous side and his analytically tactical side. Earendil: Well Geint, we can't stand back, let's go. Ayeye has no problems with those sides. Earendil follows them into the battle. Par: Come on, Kadan! These are rebellion members! Geint lands on the ground. Geint follows by foot, avoiding being stepped on. Ayeye: Kadan! Get your axe down here! Geint: I don't wanna get shot from the sky! I'm staying downwind! Par especially watches the silver figure in the center, who is feverishly hurling thunder spells at the warlocks. Kadan looks fearful, then looks at Ayeye, and his face fills with determination. Geint: ......who is that? Geint: Par? Par: The leader of our resistance! She CAN'T die! Geint: Do you know who that is or something? Rein's blue sash streaks out wildly behind as he rushes towards the fray Par: We have to save her! Geint: Oh!!! Earendil: The Leader?!?!? Why didn't you tell me before? Geint: How can we help her!!? She's against about 100 warlocks?? GMRune: The party streams down the hill and into the fray. Kadan tries to identify who he's talking about. Par: Geint, I don't know! Geint: Well.... We can't let her die without us helping!! I guess I got in more of an adventure than I wanted!! Arzel: Well I'll help her...or die trying! Rein trips, rolls, and keeps running, minus his old staff. GMRune: As you approach, a small detachment of warlocks starts to head your way! Ayeye puts the symbol in her pack as she heads down. Kadan nods. "Yes, Ayeye. This is our fight. Let's go." Geint: But still it's an adventure.....Quark said I'd be sorry for wanting some action....... Earendil: How come every time I hear the name Quark, I get this picture of a big eared guy serving drinks? GMRune: Seven warlocks reach the party... COMBAT! GMRune: ------round 1------ Arzel: Ugg...fun Geint: No idea, earendil--Ah!! Warlocks! GMRune: targets: 7 warlocks Earendil: Seven?!, By Althena, this is going to be a long one. GMRune: Ayeye claws at warlock #7 GMRune: attack 1: 1 damage GMRune: attack 2: 1 damage GMRune: Warlock #1 casts Shadow Gate. GMRune: Ayeye is hit and knocked unconscious. GMRune: Kadan is hit and knocked unconscious. Ayeye falls to her knees, "Oh no, biffed it again..." GMRune: Valina is hit and knocked unconscious. GMRune: Geint is hit and knocked unconscious. GMRune: Rein is hit and knocked unconscious. Kadan looks for the "Trainee" printed after warlock, but doesn't see it. Kadan didn't anticipate this contingency. Kadan feels the negative force eat away at his life force... "G'ah!" Kadan: At least Ayeye slightly annoyed him... GMRune: Earendil is hit and knocked unconscious. GMRune: Arzel is hit and knocked unconscious. GMRune: Par is hit and knocked unconscious. GMRune: Tarrant is hit and knocked unconscious. Rein slumps to the ground in mid-sprint and slides on his chin for a few feet GMRune: ----the party loses----- GMRune: As the group of you lay comatose on the ground, a surreal feeling envelopes you. GMRune: A voice speaks, soon joined by a second. Voice1: No... it wasn't supposed to end like this.... Voice1: I shouldn't have left them... Voice2: You did the best you could. Neither of us could predict this... Not even Canth. Geint drools. Voice2: Shade, you must return to us. Voice1: I can't. But I will do what I can to help them. Voice2: We both will. You are not the only one to meddle in human affairs. Look at Magintna! GMRune: And then a third voice joins in. GMRune: It is Canth. Canth: I have come. We will settle this together. Canth: The Dragonmaster and his friends must live that much longer! Voice1: I for one relish the thought of fighting the warlocks again. Voice2: Shade... Voice1: I am no longer Shade! Remember that, Quark! GMRune: The haze leaves you, and you wake somewhere in the mountains west of Killith. Earendil mumbles, "umm, big ears. . ." Arzel looks around. Arzel looks for dragons. Kadan refuses to acknowledge anything at the moment. Ayeye stumbles to her feet. GMRune: You see a familiar figure near you. It's a young man with long white hair. Ayeye: Where's the battle? Did we win? Earendil: Ugh . . . uh . . . um. . . now where? Arzel polks Kadan "I wonder if the Lumox is still alive" Trevor: I'm glad to see you're all okay. Rein rises painfully to his knees. Ayeye: Uhh, hello. Geint: *GGggGGGGgggGgAaaaaaaaaARRrRRrrRrgGgggGggggGggg......* Kadan pretends to be asleep, as is his natural defense mechanism. Trevor looks strangely at Geint. Arzel: Trevor... Rein silently thanks Althena. Arzel polks Kadan five more times. Ayeye checks to make sure The Bush made it throught the battle. Earendil: Trevor, how did we get here? The bush is singed, but alive. Geint opens her eyes a bit, then embarrassed, wipes the drool from her face. ;) Trevor: I was summoned by a friend. She told me where I would find you. Rein manages to struggle to his feet and bow. "Ahh.. Master Trevor..." Ayeye stumbles over to Kadan, "Kadan, are you alright?" Arzel hops up accidentally hopping on Kadan's prone form. Trevor: I've been bandaging your wounds. And I can tell you, it was a lot of work seeing that you guys would make it! Kadan rolls over and grunts, just so Ayeye doesn't worry. Arzel: Woops Kadan! Sorry Trevor nods to Rein. Trevor: Good to see you made it, Rein. Mendren wouldn't want his pupil dying out there! Earendil gets up, but leans on his sword a bit. Geint looks up at Trevor. Arzel polks Kadan in the side with his claw. "You alive there Lumox boy?" Trevor scratches Geint behind the ears. Rein nods silently, bowing again a little. Trevor: Cute pet you have here. Kadan gets up. "Ow! Quit it." Geint: I'm...no pet!! Kadan glares at Trevor. "You... ... You did this to us?" Trevor: Did what? Arzel smiles at Kadan. "Sorry Lumox...but we still need our Lumox for now...just worried." Kadan shakes his head, trying to make the popping stars disappear. Geint: I'm my own....my own....ummm........ Earendil: Geint is her own flying air bunny Par: Your own bunny? Arzel: Air bunny, Geint? Geint: Waaahh!! Too...many........Ok. I'd rather he thinks I'm a bunny.........but who is HE? Trevor chuckles. "Air bunny? So that's what it is?" Ayeye: Err, Trevor is it, did we win? What happened? Arzel: Yup...named by the group's own Lumox boy! Kadan! Geint wonders if it would be safe for him to know who she is since she does not know him. Trevor: Ah... what happened... Well, the battle wasn't going very well and my friends barely managed to teleport you guys out of there in time. Trevor: However, the rebels were almost entirely decimated I'm sorry to say. Trevor: Your distraction did buy them some time though. Their leader and two others managed to escape. Kadan finds the strength to make a grimmace at Arzel. "You know, if I hear that Lumox word one more time, I may be driven to murder." Geint: Awwwww.....great.......like we need that........ Ayeye: So, the rebellion has been wiped out again? Earendil: Did the Warlocks suddenly move on the rebels, or was it the other way around? Arzel: Lumox? *evil grin* Kadan: I don't understand... why us? Trevor: No, the rebellion isn't wiped out yet again. Only that group of them was caught there. Geint: Well Earendil will become a dragonmaster and save us all. I'll be sure of that! Trevor: I think the warlocks were chasing after the rebel leader. Earendil: Geint! Shhh! Trevor: Supposedly no one knows who he or she is because the leader is very difficult to reach. I'm surprised they found him. Geint: hummmm? Arzel looks at Kadan. "He doesn't like being called Lumox...how strange...do you think Geint likes being called a Air Bunny? You haven't proven you're human yet Kadan..." Trevor: I understand not even a tenth of the resistance has even seen their leader. Ayeye: Well, we failed again... What's next? Arzel decides to leave Kadan alone for now. Earendil: Perhaps this elusive person can help us in some way? Kadan squints into Arzel's eyes. "I believe I'm the only human one here, snake." Trevor: Perhaps. But I don't know of the inner workings of the resistance myself. I'm an outsider when it comes to that. Earendil glares at Kadan, "And what I am, chopped liver?" Arzel: Snake? I like snakes...but you're a Lumox Kadan... Ayeye is shocked and turns to Kadan. Kadan shakes more dizziness from his head and looks around for Par. Par looks at Kadan warily. Rein maintains a respectful silence, but shoots a harsh glances towards the bickering party members Ayeye looks down. Arzel slaps Kadan on the back and skips over to where Tarrant is Arzel: We're not bickering...well not much. Kadan wets a cloth and meticulously washes where Arzel touched his armor. Trevor: Anyway, I've heard that the group of your are looking for the remaining pendants. Rein: What would you have us do now, Master? Arzel grins evilly at Kadan. Trevor: I would like to know what you intend to do with them once you get them? Earendil: Have you any knowledge about the third pendant, Trevor? Trevor: I do know that the third pendant is sealed away. And that the only one who may reach it is currently lost at the moment. Rein listens intently. Earendil: And who would that be? Arzel listens to Trevor. Trevor: That I will not say. It is not my place to do so. She will find herself on her own. Arzel goes into thinking of new insults for Kadan. Geint: *sigh* great. --> Ayeye Trevor's gaze seems to look at you for a moment. Or was it your imagination? Earendil: Oh bother. Arzel looks at the ground. Trevor: I think you might want to return to Vane though. I understand that some new allies will be able to help you once you get there. Arzel walks over to Earendil. "Can you beleive it Kadan doesn't like his nickname?" Arzel: Vane...home sweet Magic like home. Earendil: Vane . . . AGAIN? Par: Vane... Yes, Vane has always been a nice place... Trevor nods. Trevor: I have a feeling that place will be a center of attention in the times to come. Kadan: I didn't much care for it when we were first there. Arzel: Well Kadan, just put up with it... Earendil: It's just that Vane is so small, I like large cities. Arzel: So do we get to tie Kadan to a wyburn again? Trevor: If that's what it will take, I suppose so. Arzel: I prefer small cities Geint: No...there's something about Vane, Ear....... Trevor: Your wybruns are not far from here. They're just to the south over yonder. Geint: It has a feeling about it I can't put my finger on... Earendil: Geint, you're right on that one, there is something, I just cannot place it. Geint: And it's a good thing. A sweat drop appears on the back of Rein's head. Arzel: I think Kadan should be tied to a wyburn with a long rope so he bounces into the mountains as we fly over them. Kadan: I have some better ideas about what I could do with rope, Arzel. Trevor: Well, now that you all seem to be recovering, I'd best be going. Geint: Umm..... learn to tie a new kinda knot? Arzel: rope! ha...I'd burn it Trevor murmurs a few words in the language of magic and teleports away. Par gets up. Rein bows a final time to the departing Trevor, and stands to face the rest of the party. Par: Well, we'd better head back over the wybruns. GMRune: The party heads over the resting wyburns, and make camp before preparing for the long flight back. GMRune: -------end session------
