Attitude Towards Magic

In a world dominated by the Magic Empire, knowing the general populace's (as well as the warlocks') reaction to magic is crucial.

For the most part, magic is very plentiful. Althena's has graced the world with virtually unlimited mana, although an individual's abilities to tap into this stream may be restricted depending on his/her innate talent. However nearly everyone on Lunar has a latent power or two, so magic is hardly ostracized.

On the other hand, barring the warlocks, one usually doesn't make a big show of his/her powers. The warlocks are very jealous of their abilities and would-be wizards that demonstrate anything close to their powers are ruthlessly hunted down and killed. (There is an exception to this rule, but it doesn't happen very often, and it will remain a secret unless discovered during the course of the RPG.) However occasional weak practice of one's own abilities isn't discouraged and is accepted.

Warlocks have no complaint with healing magics an other litanies though since those are gifts from the goddess Althena herself and aren't learned magics per se. They feel litanies have their uses, and help keep the populace sedate. As a note, there has never been any record of a warlock ever possessing a litany.

It's rumored that the one place where one can be fairly safe in practicing magic (but still far from entirely) is Vane, although no one is certain just why.

Thanks go to Ayeye's player for pointing this magic attitude problem out to me... :)
