Lunar: Magic Empire Interlude 10 Log ============================================================ Cast of Characters: Rune as "GM/Narrator and Shea" GORN as "Rein" ============================================================ GMRune: ---------game on--------- GMRune: You and Shea appear in a vast brightly illuminated area. You stand on a floor of glass, with only unending blue beneath you. The infinite blue deepens above you as well. There appears to be no ceiling, no boundaries to any side of you. Lining your narrow path every few yards or so are several large crystals from which the light appears to shine. Between the crystals is only a gap through which you can fall. Rein looks down warily. Rein: What is this? Shea: Welcome to the Void of Transference, Rein. Don't worry about falling. You cannot if you are strong in your conviction. It is here that the process may be held, that you may become Pendant Bearer in my place. Do you understand what it is to carry that title? Rein: Pendant Bearer? You mean, one of the three? Shea: Yes. One of the three. I cannot continue to be the bearer of the Pendant of Chaos, so you must replace me as one of them. Rein: Why can't you? What's wrong? Shea: I am neither Pria nor wholly Shade. You know that. The warlocks must not win, Nissa must not come to our world. And for that the strength of the four dragons is needed. I cannot be both bearer and dragon. A choice must be made. And no one else can be the black dragon of Althena. Rein: Oh... I see. Rein looks down. Rein looks up again, straight at Shea. "If that's the way it is, then I haven't much choice, eh?" Shea: Neither of us have much choice. But because you are Pria's brother, a tranfusion of our blood will give you the ability to weld my pendant. I'm certain it will be a burden, but I think you can rise above it. Rein looks away again. "I wish you wouldn't call yourself that, Pria." Rein: Can't you say "I"? Rein: I'm *your* brother! Shea looks sadly at Rein. "I'm sorry. But Pria no longer exists, not separate from Shade. I am only the melding of the two, and I cannot be one without the other." Shea: I think... you will have to learn to accept it. Rein clenches his fist at his side. "But... why neither... why not both? I can still *feel* it's you Pria...' Shea clasps her hands in front of her, wings unfolding slightly to either side. "Neither, both. I *am* both. But since they are always together... there is no 'just' Pria. I can't think as only Pria, I can't think as only Shade. You are not the only one to grieve, brother. Quark mourns Shade's loss even now while you are angry." Rein swallows, then looks up defiantly. "I see. Then there's nothing left to do but our duty, neh? I'll replace you as pendant bearer, just tell me what I need to do.' Shea shakes her head, downcast. "There is always more than duty, if you are willing to see the joy that comes beyond that. Listen." Shea: Each of three Pendant Bearers is chosen by Althena in a special fashion. Each was given a measure of her blood in one fashion or another, that is the requirement they must have. Pria was destined to become a Pendant Bearer, and Shade, being a dragon, carried the blood of Althena in her veins. When I formed from them both, I became the bearer of the Pendant of Chaos. Rein nods. Shea: Since we are related, the powers within this pocket dimension will allow our blood to be shared, and for you to be linked with Althena. Shea lifts the blue jeweled pendant in her hand, looking fondly at it. Rein: With Althena... Rein laughs softly. Shea looks saddened by Rein's actions. "Rein.... please don't be bitter..." Rein sighs, and softens a bit. "I'm sorry... Shea. But all this time, I'd been able to put what happened to Pria... and Master Mendren out of my mind. Things have all moved so quickly. And now, the divinity... but it almost seems to come as a curse." Rein stares off into the void. Shea: I'm sorry. I wish there was an easier way. I wasn't certain how you would take me... That's why I hid myself for so long. Rein: Oh... Pria... Rein looks up brightly. "You know, Master Mendren would have had us... me... pulling weeds for aeons the way I've been acting. Shea smiles. "Yes, I remember. Those weeds always were the worst. All thorny and stuff! And they would grow back so quickly." Rein nods, still looking off into the void. Shea raises the hand holding her pendant towards Rein. "Rein, are you willing to fight this battle by your will alone? Not just because it is Althena's wish? Are you willing to control the chaos that has wrought this pain between us?" Rein: Control... I don't know... Master Mendren used to tell us to be as a reed in the wind, bending with the chaos, letting it shake us as it would, while remaining still within. But control.. I'm not sure. Rein eyes the pendent. Shea: If you can at least resist the chaos in a way that it will not destroy you... If that means bending to its flow that is all right! But you must have the strength to wield it! Rein: Then I'll do it. There's a lot more here at stake then the two... of us here, isn't there? Shea: Of course. The lives our your friends will depend on this pendant as well. They will need its power to defeat Kargeth. Shea closes her eyes solemnly. "Hold this pendant with me and I will begin the transference. Don't worry, I will still be here when it is done. This does not mean I will loose my power or my memories as Pria in any way." Rein reaches for the pendant, laughing a little. "Well then I'd be a real jerk to let them down, neh?" Shea smiles slightly. Shea: You're a good brother, and a good friend, Rein. Rein closes his hand over the pendant. GMRune: A blue aura begins to form around Shea. It spread forward around the pendant until it envelopes her. Small flames of light lick at your hand, warm and welcoming, but they do not spread to you, not yet. Shea begins to chant in a low tone. GMRune: The words she begins to speak are distantly familiar, hearkening from one of the earliest points on your adventure. The three with heads of crimson flame shall come! Pendants blazing like hearts afire; One who's gem was gained in the past, One who's came in the present, And one who's power has yet to pass. When they are joined the truth shall shine! And break the barrier between space and time. GMRune: The blue light flares brighter about Shea's body. It gathers itself, flowing wildly back towards the pendant and across it to you! The aura flows strongly, making its way completely across and into the very heart of your soul. A light and love fills your being, as though you are embraced by a distant mother who loves you no less for the vast skies between you. GMRune: The light seeps into your body through your pores, and you feel something new, thrilling, coursing through your veins with every beat of your heart. There is something inconceivably different, yet you feel as though it belongs more than anything else should. Shea: Can you feel it, Rein? Can you feel Althena's love? Rein nods faintly, eyes shut tight. GMRune: Slowly, the rush of power begins to fade, leaving only a slight tingling feeling to let you know it had been there at all. GMRune: Rein learns the spell Chaos Call! Rein looks around a bit disoriented, then at Shea, with a new sense of purpose. "I won't let you down." GMRune: The Pendant of Chaos dematerializes from between your hands and reappears around your neck. Shea: Thank you, Rein. I, as every being I am, am exceedingly happy to hear that. Rein smiles. "With this rightness, I don't see how we can fail." GMRune: The blue color of the void fades rapidly to black, then black to blue again. It repeats the pattern again, this time faster. Shea grins, much like Pria used to when she teased you. "Just don't let it get to your head!" Rein: I've pulled too many hedgehog weeds for that. GMRune: The void fluxes from blue to black and back again, the succession becoming more rapid. Shea laughs brightly. Shea pauses, looking around her at the changing colors. "You should get back to your friends soon. They're in danger now and they'll need your help." Rein: I know. Shea nods. "I have one final thing to tell you before I return you to them." Rein looks intently at Shea Shea: You'll want to remember this when the three pendants are rejoined. The three pendants are Hope, the past, because as children we possess the greatest of optimism. The pendant of Chaos is the present. It stands for the confusion found in this present day. The last pendant is that of Fortitude, for once we know what is to come we may stand ready to defend our land. Tell your friends this when you return, because I will not stay with you once you are among them. Rein nods and looks down. "I know. I'll tell them." Shea takes Rein's hand, beginning the gestures necessary for teleportation. "Your friends are attacking Yegaar right now. They are after the Pegasus Feather." Rein: When will I see you again? GMRune: The two of you vanish in a swirl of dark mist. You reappear outside of Vane, nearby the Silver Spire. You catch a glimpse of some sort of quarry. Kadan, Earendil, and Par are dancing around it in while Arzel looks on with an exceedingly perplexed look. GMRune: You are on a hill a hundred yards or so away from the party. Shea shakes her head. "I'm not sure. But it will not be too long I hope. I must meet with Quark and Canth to decide what we dragons much do next." GMRune: You hear Yegaar's voice boom out over the area, taunting your friends. He belittles them while speaking of testing their power. GMRune: A center of dark energy begins to build up on the tower. It appears that Yegaar has finished toying with your friends. Shea: You will have to be the one to save them... Rein nods. Shea: The Pendant will help you if you ask it. Rein looks down at the pendant. Rein: You mean... ask it? Like, with words? Shea: It should have gifted you with a spell when you became the Bearer. If you summon its power with your heart and mind you will be able to cast it. Rein: I see. Rein reaches within himself, casting about for his new power. GMRune: You feels a surge of wild energy burst within you. The rushing torrent emerges from your body in a crackling blue sphere and flies towards the Sivler Spire at lightning speed. It bursts against the dark power just as it begins to rain down upon your friends. GMRune: --------end session--------
