Making your kingdom
Starkingdoms is a battle stratagy game. set in the far future.
You play a planet aka kingdom in a sector of space.
Sharing your sector are a bunch of other worlds.
you work together for universal dominance.
I have not played sk since game 19 so this info maybe inaccurate

Managing your empire
You will start in a random sector with a large amount of money,
If this is your first time read the help files they do help.
this is the strategy I use your mileage may vary.
I tend to do things explore, building, military research in newbie
And Buildings military explore research after newbie.
Buildings
placing your buildings have a lot to do with land type know
what your land type weakness and strength does and alter acordingly. Try to build in multibles of 16 for max time efficentcy.
Residences: These hold 50 pop each try to keep enough to hold 1-5k
more than your current population. more if you got more than 5k land. the more pop the more money.
Barraks: these are for military troops 75 per barrak.
add up your soldiers dragoons troopers and tanks and divide by 75 to see how many you need.
remember tanks take up 2 slots. lack of barraks will kill pop.
Power Plants: If your volcanic
raze half of them and make 10 fusion right away. when the 10 are made raze the rest
and make 5-10 more fusion when ever status says your power change is less than 1k.
if your not volcanic dont raze any till you have fusion reserched and do the change slowly.
Starmines: these are money pure and simple try to start with about 100
then add more if you need more cash if you cant spend all your hourly cash dont add more.
Training camps: good to keep at about 11% unless you have a lot of cash to burn.
Factories: these make probes. i try to keep at least 5-15% but i tend to throw
a lot of extra land in these. make sure other areas are ok then toss the rest in here.

Military
I usually do this part last, after i've done buildings and explored
cause it will eat the rest of your cash. when first making a kingdom
it is best to only make soldiers till you get you training camps finished.
When you are out of newbiehood you will want to build your tanks
before you explore unless your land skinny.
Try to do all moblizing in multiples of 24 for max efficency.
Soldiers:1/1 First thing to do
is train all the soldiers it will let you and keep doing that in newbie mode.
get on as much as you can in newbie mode and train train train. after newbie mode
you can lighten up a little. sometimes after newbie i leave 2-8 untrained that
way when i finish making my tanks and dragoons I can finish with these and end up spending more completely.
Scientists:0/0 try to get 2x land in scis at least. i like more but i tend to be fairly scientist heavy.
Tanks: 9/9 tanks the more the merrier.
just remember they take up 2 barrak spaces. when caculating buildings. also if your land fat consentrate on tanks nothing raises NW like tanks.
Troopers/Laser troopers:4/0-0/4keep enough trooper to take out 4 inactives(600-1k troopers) more arent worth the soldiers.IMHO they can be used in hopes
to try and confuse people using calculators but if you do that have a strange number of them like 237 or 1542 in hopes people will round down
instead of typing them in. or miss em completly and fail.
Dragoons/Laser Dragooons:5/0-0/5 I feel about dragoons similer as i do troopers i like to max out my defence, If you have laser dragoons reserched feel free
to have as many as you have tanks if not more. 2 LDs=1tank defencively and you never wanna have more than
1/2 your defencive force out anyway LDs are cheaper and if you arent planning on being open why waste the cash.

Explore
I explore max in newbie mode and I do it first.
When newbie is over stop exploring unless your land skinny.
Land Skinny (opposite of Land Fat) is when you divide your net worth by your land
and get a number over 150-200 if you have above 2k land id
keep the number at 10% of your land or higher.
Research
Well a good plan is to get 500-1k scis in newbiehood and place them all on one of the top
4 catagories till it reaches its max(found in help files) then leave 10-50 scientists and
move on if it drops stick another 10 scientists on it till it stays.
I tend to research in the following order: pop, money, military,power but I play volcanic. id sugest reserching
planet strength last, and planet weakness first.after those are done get the perminates
you need keeping only enough in top 4 to prevent them going down.
I'd suggest get fusion tech next followed by laser dragoons.
scouter is kinda a waste. then finish everything with a set finish time. and finish up with ai. when all done put them in decription.
, they will probibly remain in that rest of the game.
Interacting with the Universe
Probing/Attack
once your out of newbie you can probe and attack.
probing is mostly for info gathering. kidnapping/arson should only be done as a retal or if given instruction to. they do make people mad.
robing is best if confined to inactives, and avoid suicide probes unless your quitting or dying.
Attacking you will want to check sector and alliance forums for inactive targets at first.
hitting a active person under 1/3 your land is frowned on and called bashing
And i sugest you send a note with every retal hit to target's SL.

Rewards
You may get rewards 1 time a day get land reward asap
and money as late as posible in the day. day ends
starts at 12am SK time so geting money at 11 pm and
land at 12 am is a good habit. Also remember when game
first starting DO NOT GET CASH REWARD in the 1st hour of newbie
you will get 0 if you can not wait till 11 pm sk time
at LEAST wait one hour.
Shields
my advice is put 500 into shields 100% military
and add more slowly till you get the full 10%
that way you can build powerplants acordingly.
only bother with missile shields if your in war..
Check in every few days and if the % went down add
more never add more than 50% your power change.
Politics
After you get your kingdom under control check
forums and deside who to vote for. If coming late
in a game go with the majority unless you have
issues with the curent SL. Otherwize vote for
somone who posts a lot somone who you can get
in touch with easy either via IM, Irc or message
Forums
It is good to check forums every day.
they will tell you if there is news,
who is inactive, at least one social thred.
and a retal or target list.
Try to find a thred to post in before making your own.
If everyone makes thier own thred its a big hastle for
the Sector leader. good forums usually have 5-15 threds
if there are more than your sl needs sort them.
alliance forums are biger and maintained by your alliance.
they will have 10-30 threds at best and 1-5 social threds.
Sector leader
The SLs job is to hold a sector together,
they clean the forums post inactive lists,
and make the rules. A good SL should have
a new inactive list 1 or 2 times a week.
Its also good to have a new entrance message often.
And make sure the sector is in a good alliance.
and choose sector name. if the sector is active votes
on major decisions like sector name and alliance is good.

Alliance
The alliance offers protection more socialization and purpose.
a good aliance will be strong enough to retal people bashing your sector.
Active enough to have good communication, the forum threds should be
cleaned and under control. and it is preferable not an alliance known
for warring every game. some of the alliances I've been in are in the Page index.
Missiles
These should NOT be used in vain. or in standard retals.
If i am a SL i suggest people only use missiles with
permition from either thier sl or the SL of the victem.
and give warning mails first. Otherwize missiles are
usually retaled with more missiles. The best retal for
a missile is a slew of kidnappings and robing and notes
this is because your pop is hit the worst with missiles
and it willserve to replenish a bit. also it downgrades
the method of retal from missiles to probes. Probes are
less over reacted to.
News
This will tell you whats happening in the sector alliance or universe.
there is a symbol key at the base. you can look up to 3 days in the past.
sector news will tell you who in your sector attacked or got attacked.
it is a good way to monitor who has been bashed or retaled. or sometimes
determining who is inactive if your SL doesnt post an inactive list.
alliance news similer to sector news but is monitoring entire alliance
it is good if you wanna determine inactives in the alliance cause your sector is out.
Universal News this is mostly showing alliances created alliances destroyed
declarations of war and peace. great for figuing out how everyone fits together.
enemy of my enemy could be a good ally.
Scores This tells you how you rank in the galaxy or universe.

Enhancing Communication
In Star kingdoms communication is very important, and sometimes
forums just is not enough, there will often be a thred in sector
forums for contact info asking for IM info and links
to the programs below are in the page index
IRC
a Chatroom program you can get on irc via the link under prefrances
or use your MIRC, trillian, or other program to log on to
server: irc.starkingdoms.com Port:6667 most people hang out in the
channal #general
AIM
This is the most used than any of the other messengers on SK and
probibly the most user friendly. It seems to get along with all
other messengers.
Y!
This one is useful it has more smilies than AIM allows more usernames
and will save messages when your offline. Its only downside is it does
not play nice with MSN
MSN
The buggiest of the bunch causes errors and makes it seem
like the other programs do it. why get it? well some people use msn
and cant get any other IM
ICQ probibly the most secure
yet most complicated and hardest on your computer. it uses numbers
insted of nicknames so your favorate user name won't be taken. It
has various special fetures to boot and will save ofline messages
Trillian
This will run AIM ICQ Y! MSN and IRC with a simpler more
versital than icq interface. great way to get all the chat programs
without them all conflicting. the downside is it will take time and
effort to sort out your contact lists since they will all be jammed
into one list and you will have duplicates.
