SFPUC DESIGNS A BEAUTIFUL BUILDING FOR THE NEW PUMP STATION IN THE WESTERN END OF GOLDEN GATE PARK!

To replace the old pumping station, the SFPUC has designed a new building that blends beautifully with the Murphy Windmill and the Millwright's House.

GGPPA appreciates very much the time and effort that the SFPUC has put into this design.     You can see the location and the design by downloading the following document:

PROJECT MOVED OUT OF GOLDEN GATE PARK!

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission and the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department have announced that the location of a proposed 40,000 square foot recycled water treatment facility has been moved from Golden Gate Park to the Oceanside Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The SF PUC has recognized the value of Golden Gate Park and the importance of protecting it from more buildings and other development.  The department spent a great deal of time working with the community to identify appropriate alternatives to the original project.

SF Ocean Edge joins with the Golden Gate Park Preservation Alliance in expressing our appreciation to the SF PUC for this decision.

This change in location means that this section of Golden Gate Park can now be reclaimed with new picnic  areas, meadows, and other park uses, further enhancing our major parkland.

Write to the SFPUC and the Mayor, and thank them for making this decision.

Ask them to now renovate the existing construction yard, along with using only natural grass and NO night lighting at the Beach Chalet soccer fields.

Let's make the western end of Golden Gate Park into beautiful parkland that can be enjoyed by everyone, young or old, rich or poor, active or non-athletic.

And let's protect this habitat for the birds, butterflies, and other wildlife that need the Park.

This is the gift that we can give to our children and to future generations of San Franciscans.
