School days seemed
to go by slower for the seniors and college acceptance letters were just coming in. Ever since she was 12, Kerry knew she
wanted to go to
Only time would tell… For a few days
Kerry stopped receiving the text messages and mysterious notes, so she started to think it was a stupid little prank that
died out. But one night, her parents were out of town and she was home alone with her puppy, Buster. Kerry was watching TV
in the living room when Buster started going crazy barking. She figured it was just a squirrel, until he was running along
the wall of windows with all the fur standing up on his back. Kerry: Buster!
Come here! Ignoring Kerry’s
call, the 3 month old St. Bernard puppy kept barking at what seemed to be nothing outside the house. Kerry: Buster! Kerry started
getting nervous, and she picked up the phone. In the corner of her eye she saw a figure dressed in black walk up to the French
doors to the right of her and just stand there staring into the house. She wasn’t
sure what to do at that point, but she heard a voice coming out of the phone. It was still connected to 911. Unsure, Kerry
picked up the phone and told the dispatcher what just happened. Her hands were shaking and it was hard to hold the phone steady. Dispatcher: Okay
ma’am, stay calm and we’ll send someone over right away. How old are you? Kerry: Seventeen. Dispatcher: Are
you living alone? Kerry: No, my
parents are just gone for a few days. Can you stay on the phone with me until they come…please? Kerry was talking
to the lady and it calmed her down, until she heard the front door alarm beep, signaling it was opened. Kerry: I think
the police are here, thank you. She hung up the
phone and ran to the door, but it wasn’t a police officer. It was the man
in black. Kerry screamed
and started running the other way towards the garage, but slipped on the tiled floor. Before she could understand what was
happening, Kerry felt two large hands squeeze tight around her arms and she was face to face with the mystery man. They stood like
that for a few moments, and then he spoke. Man: I told you
I would get you. I always get what I want. The voice was
vaguely familiar, but she couldn’t put her finger on it. Kerry knew she’d heard it somewhere… His big hands
were squeezing her arms so tight she could feel them start to bruise underneath her thin shirt. She couldn’t help make
a wincing face at the shooting pains up her arms when the person started to pull of his mask. He finally revealed
his face to her. The look in his eyes would be one she could never forget.
