Kate was helping Erin unpack her stuff. She used to live with Landon until he landed her in the hospital one night, but she insisted on not telling anyone who her boyfriend was, that is until Kate met him. So now Erin was living at her dad’s house, also Kate’s dad. No one knew what happened to her mom. The day she turned 18 was the day she found a note stuck on the fridge. The only reason she never lived with her real dad was because her mom and Mr. Bomnick got divorced and he remarried (Kate’s mom).

One of Kate’s older brothers’ rooms became Erin’s, and even though it was very sporty, the two girls seemed to turn it into a chick room in the matter of hours with an adorable bed spread, some posters, pictures, flowers, magazines, that sort of thing. Erin and Kate flopped onto the full sized bed, exhausted. But they both had to shower. Jesse was coming for dinner and she wanted Erin to meet him. It was going to be a lot of fun having her older half sister staying there. She was 19 and worked at Hollister, going to college part time. During her stay at the hospital she decided she wanted to become a teen psychiatrist to help confused and angry teens.

The sisters helped each other pick out cool outfits. Erin was gonna wear dark jeans with a silk trendy tank top, while Kate wore faded ripped up jeans and black spaghetti strap tank with a faded pale yellow on top. They showered and chatted while straightening hair and doing make up.

Kate: I’m so excited for you to meet Jesse.

Erin: The jerk that was across the street today?

Kate: Well *laugh*,I know I said that but I was just mad.

Erin: Yah no kidding.

Kate: He’s just, so great. And after hearing what he had to say today, I just fell in love with him all over again.

Erin: But what about his kinky girlfriend?

Kate got quiet. She didn’t even ask Jesse about Cammy, she just slipped her mind.

Erin: Hmm, may want to check on that, eh?

Kate: yyyeah.

The girls bopped downstairs.

Mom: Oh Erin, I’m so happy you’re staying with us.

Erin: thank you Mrs. Bomnick, thank you so much for giving me a home.

Kate: Oh, daddy Jesse is coming for dinner.

Her mom just about cut her finger instead of a carrot and her dad’s smile quickly went away.

Dad: You’re seeing him again?

Kate: Well…yeah, I am.

Dad: Katelyn I thought we told you no Jesse for a little while, and it’s only been about 2 weeks since the accident.

Kate: but Dad, please. You have no idea what he means to me and he is so upset about what he did still. Just give him a chance he’s a great guy.

Erin: Yeah, he really seems that way dad.

Dad: *sigh* I am 110% against this.

Kate rolled her eyes and flipped on the TV. She and Erin were watching Laguna Beach when the door bell rang. Kate giggled and Erin teased her. Kate skipped over to the door, unlocked it and saw he adorable boyfriend standing there smiling like a doofus.

Kate: Haha I love you!

She got onto her tiptoes and squeezed her arms around his neck

This feels so right. Jesse thought, smelling her sweet Victoria’s Secret perfume.

Kate: Come on in, I want you to meet someone.

Erin was sitting on the love seat in the TV room and Kate pranced in holding Jesse’s hand.

Erin: Hey, I’m Erin.

Jesse: Hey there, I’m Jesse.

Kate: Jesse this is my sister.

Jesse: Sister?

Erin & Kate *smile*: Yup! Come on lets eat.

The dinner conversation was pretty tense with Kate’s dad. He really did not enjoy having Jesse there, the guy that almost killed his daughter. Her mom on the other hand was a bit more forgiving and kept giving Mr. Bomnick warning eyes to stop testing the guy.

Kate was so embarrassed of her dad being so mean to Jesse, she excused herself to her bedroom. Erin wasn’t far behind her and Jesse felt like it was his cue to leave.

Jesse: Thank you Mrs. Bomnick for dinner it was great.

He left the table and Kate’s room. He’d been to her house so many times it was natural to go up the stairs, first room on the right around the corner. Kate was sitting on the couch in her room crying and Erin next to her. Neither of them noticed Jesse standing in the doorway.

Kate*sob*: How could he be that mean? My dad knows how much Jesse means to me! I just don’t understand why he can’t forgive him especially after I have!

Erin: well you’re his little girl

Kate: that’s so stupid! Then he should respect who his little girl loves!

Jesse knocked on the door letting them know he was there and Kate turned her head, not wanting Jesse to see her like that.

Erin: I’m going to see if your mom needs any help cleaning up, tell me if you need anything.

Jesse walked to where Kate was sitting and put his arm around her.

Kate: Jess I am so sorry. I can’t believe-

Jesse: Kate its okay. I don’t care. I know he’s angry with me and that’s okay. He should be after everything I did.

Kate (pouting): but it’s not fair!

Jesse*laugh*: not everything is fair babe.

Jesse tilted her chin up with his thumb and began kissing away her tears.

Erin watched them from the door where they couldn’t see her and a sad, jealous feeling came over her. She’s got a great guy, she better not let him get away.
