Sparkle and Spencer
had been living in Frankie: Hey babe,
what’s up. Spencer: I’m
going to wait till Matt gets here. So Frankie sat beside
Spencer with his arm around her as a sign of affection since she wasn’t look too good. When Matt finally got there,
he was out of breath. Matt: Sorry, sorry
I got stuck in traffic. He saw a single tear
run down Sparkle’s face, and got real serious. Matt: What’s
going on, you two are acting like you have a few days left to live. Sparkle (in a whisper):
Yeah, with you. Matt: What are you
talking about? Can someone please tell me what’s going on? Spencer: We’re
moving. Frankie: Wait a minute,
you just said you’re moving. That cant be right, damnit you just moved here! Spencer started crying
and Matt and Frankie just looked at each other. Matt: How long have
you known this? Sparkle: About a
week… Matt: What! And you
never said anything! Sparkle: I’M
SORRY MATT BUT I DIDN’T WANT YOU TO BE THINKING ABOUT THAT, WHEN WE COULD HAVE FUN FOR THE TIME BEING! You are NOT being
fair Matt! Sparkle ran out of
the café and sat in the car crying with her hands over her face. Frankie grabbed Spencer’s
hand and said softly: When do you leave? Spencer: Thursday. She hugged him tight
and whispered in his ear: I don’t want to leave you, Frankie. They sat like that
for a few minutes while fresh salty tears rolled from her eyes. Matt went outside to the car and tried to get Sparkle to open
the door, but she just sat there. Then Spencer broke apart from Frankie and told him she’d call later. Spencer went
out to the car and drove off crying her eyes out and letting all her tears fall. Jen was sitting on
her bed with her knees to her chest in a ball. The lights were out and she was overwhelmed with thoughts. She thought of her
recent conversations with Chris, her 3-way conversation with Kate and Kerry. Then she thought of her home life. She felt so
alone, so deserted. Kerry was in lala land with Greg, Sparkle and Spencer were having the TIME of their lives with Matt and
Frankie, and, well no one really knew what was going on with Kate and Jesse, but at least they had each other. Everyone thought
she had Chris, but that wasn’t how she saw it. To him, she was just another girl. Then she thought of her family. Tyler,
her brother, was out of college and living in an apartment. Her sister Liz was having problems at college, so Liz was her
parent’s main concern. So who cared about little Jen, only in high school. Jen had made her
decision. Her plans were made. Today was Tuesday, Saturday she would leave. Kerry had gone to
the library after school and studied with her study group. When she got there, Kerry noticed a new guy; and from behind, he
was hot and familiar. She got closer to the table, close enough to see his face, Why
are you punishing me, God? Jaymee: Kerry! What’s
up? There’s a new guy who wanted to join and I didn’t see a problem. Kerry (sarcastically):
Oh no, no problem at all. She looked over at
the guy. Jaymee: His names
Zack. He transferred over from- Kerry: I know where
he transferred from. But whatever he told you was probably a lie. How was juevy? Zack: Uh, I, don’t
know. I never went to juevy. Kerry motioned for
him to come over and she led him to behind a book shelve. Kerry: What are you
trying to pull here, huh? Zack: What do you
mean, stunt, baby? Zack tried to put
his hands around her waste but she pushed him away. Kerry: Zack! You
leave me alone, ok? You’re out, that’s great, but I have a boyfriend and I am SO over you. I’ll be in your
study group, but nothing more. Zack: Oh you are
sadly mistaking. Because we were never over. He walked back to
the table and acted as if nothing happened. When Kerry went back after collecting herself, she got weird looks from her friends. At Greg: Ker-Ber, it’s
Greg. I was sitting in my room, alone, thinking about you. Can’t wait to see you Saturday, call me tonight. Without thinking,
she picked up the phone and dialed his number. Kerry: Greg…hey,
it’s Kerry… |
