3 On Fire
Chapter 13

3 On Fire | Kerry's Page | My FanFic | Because of You | New Beginings

When Kate went back to school on Monday, she told her friends about Landon and how great he was and how often they talked and how much she liked him. But all of them just tried to ignore her and block out what she was saying about Landon. All four of them really liked Jesse and Kate together and they all knew how upset Jesse still was. He wouldn’t talk to any of the guys, let alone talk to the girls. Kate just didn’t see it. Jesse loved her, but for some reason Kate had the idea in her head Jesse meant to hurt her that night.

Because she still couldn’t drive, Kerry took Kate home. They were hanging upstairs in Kate’s room when Kerry brought up Jesse.

“You know Kate, Jesse didn’t mean to hurt you. he would never do anything like that,” Kerry got serious.

“Kerry you don’t get it do you, I can tell you over and over and over again, Jesse wouldn’t listen to me that night, he just kept driving, he should have pulled over. Plus, I have Landon now and he’s great and he would never hurt me!”

“GOSH Kate you are so damn blind aren’t you, Jesse wont eat, sleep, he Love’s-” Kerry was cut off by Kate’s cell ringing.

“Hold on Kerr…it’s Landy,” she smiled and answered it.

He loves you. Kerry thought to herself. Landy? Oh god…

When Kate hung up, she finished her conversation with Kerry quickly.

“You know what Kerry, you just don’t get it, me and Jesse, we are through. So please, don’t bring him up again.”

“Alright, I wont.”

“Oh ya, and umm can you take me to Barnies? I’m meeting up with landon there and then we’re going to the hospital, I want Er- oh never mind we’re just going to go and meet some patients.”

“Sure, I guess why not, maybe I’ll meet him.”

They got into Kerry’s BMW and drove off. When they got there, Landon was sitting inside on a stool.

“Thanks Kerr, love ya. We’ll talk later,” Kate said as she got out of the car.

“Well wait, can’t I meet him?” Kerry asked.

“I don’t know, he’s not really a people person. I’ll call you later, promise.”

Not really a people person? Kerry wondered, then why the hell are they going to the hospital to meet patients…

“Hey!” Kate walked up to Landon smiling and kissed his cheek.

“Hey babe, you ready to go?” he smiled back and stood up.

“Yea, look I have to go in and see someone while we’re there, I feel sort of bad how I’ve been forgetting her lately.”

“Alright, that’s cool. Who is it?”

“Uh, my half sister. Remember when I ran into you last week leaving a room? It was hers. Some skumbag boyfriend of hers abused her so bad, and she never said anything. To anyone. And it went too far one night, and this is where she is. I hate guys like that. Who feel they have to push around women because they feel dominant!” Kate started yelling and people started looking.

“Ok, babe, calm down.” Landon looked around, then put his arm around Kate and let her to his car. When they got in the car Kate started to tear up.

“OK this has to stop, I’m not going to be in the car with you if you’re going to cry over your sister, so stop crying or get out.” Landon had completely snapped. Kate was so shocked she didn’t even know what to do. She stopped crying.

“I can not stand it when chicks cry around me,” Landon yelled again. Kate wasn’t shocked anymore, just scared. I wish Jesse were here. She thought to herself.

Landon put the car in drive and headed off towards the hospital. When they got there, Kate signed in for Erin Bomnick and followed Landon to the elevator. She stood a few feet away from him while going up to the third floor. When they got out, Kate led the way to room 307.

When they walked in, Erin was watching reruns of General Hospital.

“Hey hun,” Kate softly smiled while walking in.

“Where’ve ya been?” Erin teased.

“School, catching up on work. I want you to meet someone…” Kate looked out the small window on the door.

“Got a new hot date? Haha,” Erin laughed to herself.

“Sure, hold on let me get him.” Kate walked in the hall and motioned for Landon to walk in, but when he did, he sort of kept his head down and hand in his hair.

“Babe, this is Erin…is something wrong?” she asked.

“Uh no, I just…” he stuttered, then lifted his head, knowing what he was in for.

Erin jumped, then just stared at him for a long time, while Kate tried to get their attention. Erin and Landon were looking directly into each other’s eyes. Landon’s soft and forgiving, and Erin’s fierce and mad.

“Get this piece of crap out of my room right now Katelyn, and don’t you ever bring him back here.” Erin screamed.

“What? What’s wrong? What’s going on?” Kate questioned over and over.

“JUST GET HIM OUT OF HERE!” Erin screamed once again.

“Landon, can you wait outside for a little, I’ll be out as soon as I talk to her.” And with that Landon turned around slowly and stood outside.

“What the hell was that all about Erin?!” Kate practically went ballistic.

“Don’t. Ever. Talk. To. Landon. EVER,” she stressed the last “ever”.

“Oh gosh, don’t tell me…” Kate looked dazed and Erin simply nodded her head.

A single tear rolled down her cheek. And to think I could have fallen in love with him? And what I said in Barnies. And what he did in the car? Am I stupid?! She thought to herself, then reached for the phone and started dialing.

“What are you doing?” Erin sat up.

“Yes…hello…my name is Katelyn Bomnick…I’m currently in room 307…visitor…yes…as fast as possible…thank you…goodbye.” Kate hung up and told Erin what she just did. She called the security at the main entrance.

After an hour or so and the cops arrived and took Landon away, Kate slumped down into the chair in the hospital room. After 10 minutes of talking to Erin, a doctor came in.

“Miss Bomnick?” Erin looked up.

“Yes?”

“I’m Dr. Micculls. I’ve been going over your tests and X-rays. Your ribs have healed beautifully and the bruising on your skull has gone down dramatically. I’d glad to say you can go home in about 2 days.”

“Oh that’s great,” Erin smiled.

“Now I’m assuming you have someone to come and get you Wednesday?”

“Well not exact-”

“Of course she does!” Kate stood up wiping her eyes, “I’ll be taking her home.”

Kate said goodbye to Erin and said she’d be there at 4 on Wednesday, then went outside to call for a ride.

Her parents were working and her brothers were in college. She didn’t want to bother Kerry again, and she figured the other girls were too busy. She had no choice, but to call Jesse.

Before speed dialing his number, Kate hesitated. I have been a royal brat to him…

She pressed talk.

“Hello?” Jesse answered. Her heart skipped a beat when she heard his voice.

“Jesse?”

“Yeah? Kate?”

“Yeah, hey.”

“What are you calling for? To yell at me some more?”

“No, look I hate to ask you of anything considering how horrible I have been lately, but…”

“Get to the point Kate.”

“Can you come pick me up?”

“Why?”

“Long story, I’ll explain later, but please?” her voice got worried when she said that.

“What’s wrong?”

“I’ll explain later.”

“Where are you?”

“…the hospital…”

“*sigh* this better be good. I’ll be there in 20 minutes.”

“Thank you so much Jesse”

“Yeah” *click*

Well that went pretty well…I think…
