The ambulance holding the 17 year old girl rushed up to Emergency entrance, special for the ambulances. The paramedics carefully but quickly pulled out the stretcher. Kate was conscious, but not all there. The only thing she saw wherever she looked up were lights. They had her neck in a brace. But then something weird happened, she saw faces of doctors, nurses, and surgeons, but then a different face was hovering above her. It was familiar, yet strange. And for the split second she saw him, everything around her stopped. Then his face disappeared and time went on. The pain in her leg came back. The pain in her head was sharper than before. And then everything went black.

When she opened her eyes, Kate’s eager family was scattered around her room. When she opened her eyes, her mom, dad, and 2 brothers jumped up.

Kate: Mom….dad…..where am I?

Mom: Sweetie, you were in an accident. You’re in the hospital. You need your rest though. You’re going to be ok.

Kate: What happened?

Mom: That’s not important now hunnie.

Kate: Is Jesse ok?!

Dad: Jesse’s at home. Don’t worry about him he was just fine….just fine….

Kate slowly closed her eyes and went to sleep. She had undergone surgery in her leg, which was broke in 2 places and she suffered a minor concussion. This time when she woke up again it was noon, and no one was in her room but a nurse, Stacy.

Kate: Where is everyone?

Stacy: Oh don’t worry sweetie, they’ll be back.

Kate: Oh ok.

Stacy: Would you like to take a walk. You have a wheelchair and I’ll be helping you for the next 2 days while you’re here.

Kate: Sure, I need out of this bed.

Still weak, Stacy helped Kate into the wheelchair. Stacy wheeled her out of the room and to the elevator. She was on the third floor, and the number 307 caught her eye.

Kate: Wait! Stop! I need to go in there.

Stacy: I’m not sure about that patient. I don’t know the visiting times for her and-

Kate: I don’t care she’s….family.

Stacy sighed but opened up the door to let her in. As she approached the bed, Kate looked at the fragile girl laying down.

Kate: Hey chick, how you doing today?

Erin looked at Kate shocked.

Erin: How am I doing? How are you doing. What the heck happened to you?

Kate: I’m not so sure myself. I got into a car accident with my……boyfriend.

Erin: Oh. You have a boyfriend?

Kate: Yea, but…but we don’t have to talk about that.

Erin: Don’t worry…it’s just hard. The, the police are investigating further, and they don’t even have him in custody.

Kate: What was his name again, Louis?

Erin: No, La-

Erin was cut off by her nurse entering the room.

Nurse: Erin it’s time for your meds.

Kate: I’ll see you later, I’m 3 rooms down if you are up to coming down.

Erin: Thanks Kate, really. I love you, sis.

Kate: I love you too. If you need me, I’m always here.

Stacy wheeled Kate out of the room and in front of the elevator. She hit the down arrow and in a moment the door opened. Stacy began to push the chair before seeing a young man exiting the elevator.

Stacy: Oh I’m sorry sir, I didn’t see you there.

Man: Oh, that’s ok.

She started to push Kate, but the man grabbed the wheel handles.

Man: Kate, right?

Kate: Uh, yea, do I know you?

Man: Yea, I uh, saw you yesterday leaving a room down this hall. I’m Landon, do you remember?

Kate: Oh yea, right.

Landon: Would you mind, if I walked with you?

Kate looked at Stacy, and she had an unsure face.

Stacy: I don’t know….

Landon: I’ll have her back in 30 minutes.

Stacy: I supposed, but do not leave the hospital grounds.

Landon took the handles on the wheel chair and led her down and out of the busy hospital.

The next day was a Monday and all the teens had to go to school, but hey decided the girls would meet up with all the guys after at a small coffee shop they usually went to.

The entire day Jesse spent worrying over Kate. As soon as the bell rang he ran to Greg’s car, to meet him there because he didn’t have one yet. Matt and Frankie rode together in Matt’s car and Chris took his own. They guys were hanging around in the parking lot waiting for their girlfriends to show up.

Greg: So you know where she is, right?

Jesse: Ya I called during lunch to find out if she was up for visitors and I talked to her parents.

Chris: You actually called them? Jeez.

Jesse: Uh, ya, dude I nearly kill her, and I’m just going to pretend it never happened?

Chris: That’s the safe way.

Jesse: You know sometimes you scare me…

Matt: They’re here, stop fighting.

Jesse mumbled a couple words but Chris didn’t hear, he was too busy “greeting” Jen.

Jen: Hey hun.

Chris: Hey baby.

While they were kissing, matt and Frankie had their arms wrapped around Sparkle and Spencer. It was like 2 matches made in heaven. The four of them, ever since they met, spent every waking minute they could together.

Kerry was so happy to see Greg, but a little distracted with everything going on with her best friend.

Greg noticed that and brought Kerry into a hug.

Greg: She’s going to be fine, I promise.

He whispered into her ear and kissed her cheek softly.

Jen and Chris rode in Chris’s car to the hospital, Matt, Sparkle, Frankie, and Spencer together, and Greg and Kerry and Jesse in another car.

When they got to the hospital, Jesse approached the nurse at the front desk.

Nurse: Can I help you?

Jesse: Yea, I called a couple hours ago for a Kate. She’s on the third floor.

Nurse: Yes, I need you all to sign in though.

They all signed the paper and crowded into the elevator. They walked down the hall to room 310. they were all expecting to see her laying in bed, but when they walked in, no one was there.
