This blog is my online peace journal with information and reflection on a variety of peace topics -- personal,
local, global -- as well as peace and justice related links that I find helpful and/or inspiring. For more formal information
on peace, justice and nonviolence, I urge you to explore the webpages of The Fellowship of Reconciliation USA (see FOR), of which I am a member and join our New York Fellowship of Reconciliation (see NYFOR) listserv. Also, check out my alternate Peace Hugs blog as well as my links page.

How long have I been talking about getting my own digital camera? Meanwhile, I've spent oodles on developing all
my pictues and, since I broke my good Canon camera at the beginning of my Caribbean cruise, on the expense of (usually) good
"throw-away: cameras. Well, the bad news is that Michael Dylan accidentally broke Marquise's camera over our holiday weekend.
The good news is that when we went to replace it, I bought the identical model. MORE good news is that Marquise set it up
for me and gave me some instructions. The bad news is that we got the cameras on "don't buy anything Friday." The good news
is they were the last two on J&R's shelves (so we could get them NOW) AND I got it for the same price as the one I was
considering, thanks to Consumer Reports (same brand, actually). More good news is that I will have the camera
to take PR shots for my various progressive causes and not have to shoot all sorts of shots of my cats to finish the roll.
(Shubh Mathur asked about the Grand Canyon pictures. Look for them in a day or two, Shubh.)
On a different
subject, the Good News is that Rachel Maddow is going to be on Air America Radio weekdays at a decent hour. The bad news is that she is bumping Morning Sedition and it's funny host Marc Maron
off the air. Marc's co-host Mark Riley will be doing something from 5 - 7 AM and Rachel will take over from
7 - 9 AM. I've signed up for Marc's newsletter at http://marcmaron.com and will miss his wonderful humor as part of my morning routine. You win some, you lose some. For peace, however, while knowledge
is essential, humor is healing. Hopefully, we'll still have Kent Jones and Marc will will find some excellent
work that I can see/hear.
(And yes, I had a good time with Michael Dylan and Marquise, who are now back in Ohio --
see http://audientfiles.blogspot.com/2005/11/thanksgiving-in-nyc.html. The good news is that my homemade Thanksgiving dinner was great. The bad news is that its remnants love my hips :-)
That's how Thom Hartmannwas saying Hurricane Katrina, but I'm talking post Las Vegas and post Ohio visits with my daughter Kat
(and son Michael Dylan and fiancee Marquise). Kat and I headed out to Vegas, hence the silence -- heck it's hard to catch up on work, mail, podcasts, and I'm
only beginning to get to email. Much to do, but I wanted to write something to say I had a great time -- who would know that
a peace activist would have fun in Las Vegas? Yes, I wore some of my political buttons.
And I found some peace at
the Grand Canyon, going by heliocopter no less! Had great conversation with Brit Pat Dellow whose husband
John Dellow was a bit disappointed with the Canyon -- it was an overcast day, but our pictures
came out Grand and Kat and I LOVED it. Hope John feels differently viewing his pictures (which will also include those from
the wedding of their son Scott Dellow with Angela, who married in Las Vegas). I'm sorting through some of mine and hope to
post them either at Peace Hugs (http://kateannenyc.blogspot.com) or perhaps on the About Mepage since I finally have another vacation under my belt.
And then there is this wonderful magician, Lance Burton -- catch his show: wow!! They had just released some third row seats when Kat and I hit the box office. Close and
still mystified! Kat knows I nodded off at La Cage, but NOT at Lance Burton. (He probably would have disappeared me for good!)
Oh
yes, I won some. I lost a bit more. But I gained some great memories, shared with my little Kat. Now back to reality. I could
use a bit of magic to get my housework done. (This would even be a challenge to Lance, no doubt :-)
Little Kat and I are getting together to play. I am looking forward to seeing my daughter and regaining some personal
peace. We didn't get together for Halloween, but she sent me a picture which I hope to post here a bit later -- Strawberry
Shortcake, or as I say, Strawberry ShortKat -- but she's taller than I.
I would also urge you to check out my Peace Hugs posting from Oct. 29 where I speak about our little Union Square Peace Vigil (with Betty Lou Hornick and Sam Oast leading the way) and our meeting
David Homanich's parents, Judy Homanich and George Homanich, from Binghamton. Some neat pictures and an interesting
story await you. Love to blog on Peace Hugs -- it's quicker and you can comment.
Marc Maron is leaving Air America Radio's Morning Sedition! I had hoped to get up to O'Neal's Restaurant this morning but my schedule overfloweth. Still, I want
to note Marc here as Morning Sedition is a great way to begin my morning and AAR's upsetting me by this change. (Just like
they upset me when they got rid of Unfiltered in favor of Jerry Springer -- argh! Okay, I like the fact that they now have
Thom Hartmann on their roster but not the fact that he is on only once a week -- thank God for streaming!) Anyway, this morning
Marc and Mark had on Mark Crispin Miller who has come out with a new book on voting fraud: Fooled Again. I've seen an excerpt, but the book is worth buying
and reading -- and YES, check out my Links page on this site for more updates on election fraud / voter fraud. FreePress.org
has come out with some more good stuff. This is an issue which must be followed up on, as Mark Crispin Miller reminds us.
