LOS ANGELES ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY
The Los Angeles Astronomical Society is the oldest and largest amateur astronomy group in Los Angeles. Its members set up their telescopes at Griffith Observatory every month to give many visitors their first look at celestial objects. The L.A.A.S. website also provides links to numerous other websites related to astronomy and space exploration.
GRIFFITH OBSERVATORY
World famous Griffith Observatory is one of the top tourist attractions in Southern California. It has shown celestial wonders to more people than any other place in the world. It is also a popular location with movie makers.
THE PLANETARY SOCIETY
The Planetary Society was founded in 1980 by Dr. Carl Sagan. With over 100,000 members in 140 countries, it is the largest space interest group in the world.
MOUNT WILSON OBSERVATORY
Mount Wilson Observatory is one of the most important facilities in the history of science. This is the home of the famous100-inch Hooker telescope used by Edwin Hubble, whose work led to the discovery of the expansion of the universe.
