Welcome
to the online home for the El Paso, Texas Branch of the American Society
of Civil Engineers.
The El Paso Branch is
the host for the Texas Section 2005 Fall Meeting.
BRANCH HISTORY
In 1956, a group of Civil
Engineers formed the El Paso Engineers Club for the purpose of advancing
professional and technical fellowship among the local engineers. Even though
all these founding members were members of the American Society of civil
Engineers (ASCE), they were not associated with any sub organizational
unit. The El Paso Engineers Club continued to grow in number of members
and activities; however, it did not operate under any official charter.
It had no formal organization and was not recognized by any parent organization.
During their Spring Meeting
in May of 1950, the Texas Section's Board of Direction approved the formation
of the El Paso Branch and the first official Branch meeting was held shortly
thereafter. The Texas Section was the first Section of the ASCE to institute
the procedure by which local Branches could be established where ten more
members resided and petitioned for branch.
