First Round Qualifying Day1: In a duplication of last year's event; fast speeds started off First Round qualifying. Derek Wood(Speedman88) timed in fastest of the day with a time of 47.064sec. and averaging 191.299mph. Clocking in second for the day is Doug Shaver(DShaver_FLM) turning a 47.082sec 191.156mph lap. Patrick Baldwin(JG24Fan) timed in third. If the first day and the amazing resemblence in last year is any indication of things to come this week. This will be the most competitive Online 500 yet. Day2: Day two is now complete. Fast laps are again the order of the day, but what is more exciting is the tight gaps between positions throughout the field only two days into qualifying. Dain Ness(Procraft) posts the fastest lap of, not only the day, but of overall qualifying up to this point by turning in a blazing lap of 47.033sec and averaging 191.355mph. Terry Hudgens(T-Bone8) clocks in third overall with a lap of 47.067sec averaging 191.217mph. Garry Waters(halffast-FLM) slots in fourth overall. So far Team FLM is looking good with three drivers in the top five. Day3: Two more days remaining in qualifying. Day three was a little more relaxed as a little less than 90 drivers qualified. Roger Wagner(BigDawg97) turned the fastest lap of the day with a lap of 47.102sec and averaging 191.075mph slotting him 15th overall. David Moore(Degener8) timed in 2nd for the day with a lap of 47.104sec 191.067 putting him 16th overall thus far. Art Lucas(RoundTrackR) who was third for the day clocked in with a 47.108sec 191.050mph lap just .004 off the fastest of the day yet putting him 19th. The days are winding down. 229 drivers have now qualified. Top drivers are getting nervous, everyone looking for the magic combination to get them a top 60 qualifying spot. Day4: Day four comes to an end leaving a single day of First Round qualifying remaining. Brian Neal(MR-LS7) is the fastest of the day timing in fourth overall with a lap of 47.079sec 191.168mph. Tom Linser(TDL28) clocks in second for the day and seventh overall with a lap of 47.082sec 191.156mph. The field reaches 407 drivers currently qualified. Close to 500 drivers could be expected by the end of First Round as well as picking up a few during second round who could not attend First Round quals. The field is extremely tight with the top 60 just .104sec apart. Day5: The final day of first round is complete. Dain Ness(Procraft) is unofficially top qualifier for the 2002 TSW 500. However, it was not done unchallenged. Clifford Agnor(ripken8) posted the fastest lap of the day clocking in with a lap of 47.042sec averaging 191.318mph just .009sec off the top qualifying position. Second fastest of the day Dennis Early(DE38), who wound up third overall, put up a blistering lap of 47.054sec averaging 191.270mph. The top five were just .034sec apart. 476 drivers have qualified thus far with expectations of picking up more during Second Round. The top 60 are locked in unofficially pending review of the replays. For some drivers, race engines are going in as well as race setups for race trim. For most others, wrenches are still being turned on qualifying setups in hopes of finding another few thousandths of a second to move up into at least the top 200. Second Round Qualifying Day1: Second round qualifying begins with some seriously fast laps going on the board. Kenny Agnor(429Ford) posted the fastest lap of the day with a 47.077sec 191.176mph lap. If done during first round the lap would have been good enough for 6th overall. Mike Koon was the story of the day after gaining a full tenth of a second to put him third for the day. Koon has been a contender just about every year of the 500 and looks to be a force this year. Day2: Day two now comes to an end with more fast laps going up. Charlie Mone(C_Mone) turns the fastest lap with a 47.090sec 191.123mph lap. Competition is fierce with 493 drivers now qualified. Three days remain and drivers in the lower part of the top 200 now bring out their cars anticipating the need to requalify.
