We're Takin' It To The Garage...
6/25/06
Hey There!
Thanks for droppin' by! This is just a note to say that Karnubawax is takin' it to the
garage... maybe for good. I'm lookin' at back surgery in a few weeks, the World Cup's got my attention, and my heart is just
not in it anymore.
Chances are that this will be the last dispatch, though I may decide to chart the points this
year at some later date.
It's been a fun couple of years, and thanks for reading. See ya in Martinsville in October!
Over
& Out,
Davey Karnubawax
11/11/05 - Hey everyone!
My apologies for not updating this website. There are tons of reasons - obsolete computer running at a snail's pace combined
with buggy earthlink dial-up is just too big a drain on my time and sanity. Work's been busy, and a variety of health problems
are knocking me out to the point where I just can't keep up.
If that weren't enough, there's another reason as well. Quite frankly, I'm getting sick of NASCAR, and I can easily forsee
the time when I will no longer be a fan. So this may be the last hurrah. I will still watch the races, and maybe even go
to some, but I find it harder and harder to care each week what happens - in a sport run by a totalitarian monopoly, coldly
calculated to milk the most phony drama out of the tiniest things, and - the most maddening thing of all - seeing awesome
and daring driving completely nullified by a point system designed to keep multi-car teams on top and completely wipe out
any chance of an underdog ever winning anything meaningful. So fuck it!
So, for what it's worth (ie Nothing), here is your 2005 Karnubawax Champion...
TONY STEWART
That's right... it's over! With his 4th place finish at Phoenix, Tony Stewart pulls more than the maximum points away from
Greg Biffle to officially become Karnubawax 2005 Nextel Cup Champion!
Of course, with NASCAR's bullshit point system who knows who will actually take the real hardware. What's clear is that
Tony deserved it this year more than anyone, and you don't have to have your own damn point system to know that. If Stewart
doesn't win, I may just give up on NASCAR. It would mark the third year in a row where the most deserving driver got screwed
out of the title. 2004 was obviously Jimmie Johnson's year, and 2003 should have been Newman's first championship.
Karnubawax goes to Richmond! - 9/10/05

***Newsflash - KWAX to change point system for Chase***
Hey... NASCAR changes their rules constantly, so why can't I? Actually, it's not much of a change, but here it is...
unlike NASCAR where the Top 10 get in the Chase, in the KWAX system the top 20 will get in! Take that, Mike Helton!
The 20th place driver will have his points adjusted (almost assuredly up) to 100. Points will then be added in increments
of 5 up to the leader, up through the 11th place driver. the 10th place driver's points will be adjusted to 200, and then
going up in 5 point increments to the leader. While getting 5 points is easy in the NASCAR system (just wait a lap to change
your tires under yellow), it is decidedly not in the KWAX system. While your 20th place driver has no chance of winning the
title, he MAY have a shot at finishing in the Top 10 - IF he steps it up!
