Karen has been teaching in the fitness industry since 1990 and holds
many certifications including her 200RYT and is a certified Yoga Ed instructor. She was introduced to meditation & yoga
as a teen and has developed her own unique style incorporating her specialties into a vigorous class using creative sequencing
to move energy through the body. She is dedicated to bringing the practice of therapeutic yoga to all populations in a safe
format that is rooted in exercise science. Her style is based on being safe and includes many modifications and adaptations.
You will learn when to push, when to surrender and when to rest. Her approach focuses on falling in love with Yoga. And her
students love her challenging, ever-changing classes and her upbeat, relaxing style. Karen is also the author of Yoga Bear:
Yoga for Youngsters - a children's book published by Northword Press (2004).
A student of yoga for over 25 years, she has studied many different styles
of yoga and has been blessed to have learned from many world
renowned yogi masters including Pattabi Jois (Ashtanga), Aadil
Palkhivala (Iyengar), John Friend (Anusara), David Swenson (Ashtanga), Baron Baptiste (Power Yoga), David Life and Sharon Gannon (Jivamukti), Dharma Mittra (creator of the "Master Yoga Chart of 908 Postures"), Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa (Kundalini), and Donna Rubin (Bikram)... but her heart belongs to Krishnamacharya and her dedication to Viniyoga teachers Gary Kraftsow and Mark Whitwell.
She is eternally grateful to her teachers... past, present and future.
