“If I Knew Then What I Know Now,”
Breaking into Childrens Publishing - Fact and Fiction

The workshop will cover the basics of writing for children - determining genre, solicited versus unsolicited submissions, the value of critiques, how to approach editors and agents, researching the market, what happens before, during and AFTER the sale.

Participants are requested to bring two copies of the first 5-10 pages of a sample manuscript, the name of their “dream” editor, a sample cover letter, and be prepared to discuss how and why they chose (or want to target) a specific publisher. If time permits we will read and discuss individual projects.

Writing for children is a joyful endeavor.
It takes heart, passion, and one endearing story that yearns to be told. As with all things, commit to putting your own ideas on paper. A story left untold will never blossom or touch the heart of a reader.

Now start writing. Thinking about it is not the same as doing it!
