Ian's Memorial Scholarship -

The Ian Drazick Memorial Football Scholarship was established in May, 2005 by Ian's parents, Karen and Mark McWhirt, in memory of their son.
Ian was a Sophomore at Longview Community College when he was diagnosed in November 2004 with Testicular Cancer. He died 4 months later, on March 18, 2005.
Ian graduated from Lee's Summit High School with the Class of 2003. He was a member of the Lee's Summit High School Tiger Varsity Football Team. Ian had played Football with Pop Warner since age five, continued through Middle School and into High School. A 15 year resident of Lee's Summit, Ian also enjoyed playing Baseball and Basketball with Lee's Summit Parks & Rec from early Elementary to his Senior year.
Ian taught himself to play Acoustic guitar at age twelve, soon was composing his own music, and found he truly loved it. He played publicly with other musicians through the summer and fall of 2004. Ian dreamed of a successful career in music, and was taking music courses at Longview, while also employed at Express Pak-n-Ship in Lee's Summit since 2002. He had just been promoted to Assistant Manager in January of 2005.
Ian made friends everywhere he went. He lived as a fun, energetic, loving, wise, and funny young man, who touched the heart and soul of everyone he met. His comedic personality and genuine love will be with us always.
