Jack Kalvan's Biography

Jack grew up in Miami, Florida. At the age of 12, he unwittingly determined his fate by learning how to juggle three tennis balls. Immediately falling in love with this new skill, he practiced several hours a day.

Not considering juggling as a career option, Jack went to Carnegie Mellon University to study Mechanical Engineering. There, he also spent thousands of hours practicing and perfecting his juggling skills. After graduation, IBM Research hired Jack as an engineer, finding him uniquely qualified to help them build and program a juggling robot. On weekends, Jack took a break from engineering, to develop and perform his comedy act. After a year of this double life, he decided to devote all his energy to the world of entertainment.

Since 1989, Jack has performed around the world as a solo act and as half of the juggling duo, Clockwork. Venues have included European variety theaters, casino showrooms, cruise ships, colleges, and corporate events and television shows around the world.

Jack has earned respect in the juggling community, winning three gold medals from the International Jugglers Association. At jugglers' conventions he is regularly invited to perform, judge competitions, and teach workshops.
