While our name Video Verite' Productions was wholly original (or so we thought) in 1991 (before the proliferation of the internet), we later learned of the documentary filmmaking duo of Susan and Alan Raymond of "Video Verite." Their films include AnAmerican Family, Death in an American Family and I am a Promise. Their information can be found at www.videoverite.info.

The name similarities seemed to keep all concerned in good footing, until we decided to try our hand at distribution. As "Video Verite" exists as a distribution entity, we required a different name for productions that reach external audience oriented works. Read more about the Shallow Focus story here.

Video Verite' Productions is dedicating itself solely to non fiction, non documentarian work. Entertainment work will fall under the auspices of Shallow Focus Entertainment. Check us out.

MISSION STATEMENT

Video Verite' Productions is a progressive, socially engaged time-based-media arts entity, whose goals are centered upon marrying form with function, free expression with critical thought, and ideas with the language of images.

Video Verite' Productions is not currently hiring. However, artistic positions with rolling breakeven profit sharing are always open at Shallow Focus Entertainment for creative purposed productions. Video Verite's name stems from the film term, "Cinema Verite'," simply meaning, "Cinema Truth," and defined by a style of filmmaking whose intent is to capture its subject in a stark, truthful manner. All of Video Verite's projects are currently shot on professional miniDV cameras, and edited using Apple Macintosh-based systems.
